(06:44:19 PM) Logging started. Future messages in this conversation will be logged.
(07:56:46 PM) Auricle [~chatzilla@4.154.200.7] entered the room.
(07:57:57 PM) Auricle: greetings
(07:58:56 PM) Cagliostro [~Gringo_Lo@c-66-30-5-155.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(07:59:01 PM) Cagliostro: woo
(08:00:13 PM) Auricle: hi
(08:00:21 PM) dkap: Right then. Mike is somewhere in Connecticut, and driving (safely, I hope) in this direction ... so, unless Ilk joins us, we have quorum.
(08:00:49 PM) dkap: I believe we can start with the Jean and Auricle discussion with Flora, yes?
(08:01:00 PM) Auricle: sure
(08:01:01 PM) Cagliostro: sure
(08:01:06 PM) dkap: Caelin (hopefully) doesn't have much input on that ...
(08:01:20 PM) dkap: Oh, and I'm sorry about my crash at the end of last evening's game.
(08:01:28 PM) Auricle: happens
(08:01:30 PM) Cagliostro: we have a map, auricle is calming down, and flora has questions
(08:01:39 PM) Cagliostro: and really, we have no answers, so we suggested she run some ideas past deirdre
(08:01:42 PM) Cagliostro: you need a sysadmin ;)
(08:01:50 PM) Cagliostro is now known as Jean
(08:01:50 PM) Auricle: Indeed
(08:01:57 PM) dkap: My homedir is on an external drive, attached to the computer, and I moved too quickly, so the USB cord dropped.
(08:02:19 PM) dkap: And since it was encrypted, it wouldn't umount to remount, I had to reboot, and by the time I got back, everyone was gone.
(08:02:34 PM) Auricle: Yup, we suggested getting suggestions from Deirdre. Although we have ascertained the entire family will not be living in the castle this time.
(08:02:58 PM) dkap: Right. Guest rooms? Permanent rooms?
(08:03:05 PM) dkap: Royal rooms?
(08:03:10 PM) dkap: Auricle's rooms?
(08:03:11 PM) Jean: we voted for townhouses for the family
(08:03:12 PM) dkap: Labs?
(08:03:29 PM) Jean: and just rooms for Deirdre & Corwin & potentially younglings. DIdn't discuss Auricle.
(08:03:40 PM) dkap: So, more the convention center model, rather than the residence model?
(08:03:56 PM) Auricle: Right.
(08:04:08 PM) dkap: Meeting rooms? Libraries?
(08:04:18 PM) dkap: Archival informational rooms?
(08:04:20 PM) Auricle: Auricle has labs nearby, but might want a few in the castle.
(08:04:50 PM) dkap: Throne room or rooms?
(08:05:01 PM) dkap: Dining rooms?
(08:05:13 PM) dkap: Kitchens?
(08:05:16 PM) Auricle: We don't know what Deirdre will want.
(08:05:23 PM) dkap: These are her suggestions.
(08:05:57 PM) dkap: Guard barracks
(08:05:59 PM) dkap: Stables?
(08:06:08 PM) Auricle: "At the bare minimum, throne room, dining room, library, meeting rooms, guest quarters for visiting dignitaries...
(08:06:18 PM) dkap: Giant Scratching posts?
(08:06:32 PM) dkap: Carriage Houses?
(08:06:36 PM) Jean: guest quarters is the slippery slope
(08:06:59 PM) Jean: "Should we just wait for Deirdre to come back?"
(08:07:49 PM) dkap: *grin* My sister never had much of a good head for the pagentry of court.
(08:08:15 PM) dkap: Her idea of good construction is a well-defended tower or maybe, something as large as a keep.
(08:08:20 PM) Jean: "Well, then we should find an expert to help answer these questions. Someone familiar with the court, and with Deirdre."
(08:08:31 PM) dkap: No real place to hold a sit-down meal, much less formal court.
(08:08:31 PM) Jean: *saucer spins(
(08:08:44 PM) Jean: "Princess Florimel, are you available to design a new Amber castle?"
(08:08:45 PM) Auricle: "That's certainly not me."
(08:08:58 PM) dkap: It all depends on what you want designed.
(08:09:13 PM) Jean: "That sounds like a 'no', then. Shall we ask Corwin next?"
(08:09:13 PM) dkap: These questions, once answered will help to shape the process.
(08:09:44 PM) dkap: Then you will have to decide on what style you want it all rendered in, or, if you want several different styles, depending on the section of the facility.
(08:10:34 PM) Auricle: *looks blankly at Jean* "I had no idea what I was getting into when I said King Deirdre needed a castle.
(08:10:43 PM) dkap: Personally, I think the Boardroom style leaves much too much to equality, and therefore lesse Magesty.
(08:11:03 PM) Jean: "These things, they happen. To Corwin?"
(08:11:18 PM) dkap: They have happened to many.
(08:11:32 PM) dkap: Corwin, I'm sure, has experienced his share of them over time.
(08:12:08 PM) Jean: "The issue is, if we knew the answers to these questions, we'd design the castle ourselves."
(08:12:26 PM) dkap: He tends to favor the style of the old castle amber, and styles all his efforts to be like that. Perhaps, being one of the eldest of his father, his thoughts have been molded to associate that shape with success.
(08:12:39 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: Were you able to backup short-term memory of conversation while you were repairing damage?
(08:12:52 PM) dkap: But I thought you wanted to move away from the old Oberon style, otherwise, simply move the castle?
(08:13:07 PM) Auricle: "Right. We were hoping you'd have some fresh ideas for a new reality."
(08:13:20 PM) Jean: "Well, perhaps Corwin will have some new ideas, and be willing to rely on his own counsel."
(08:13:38 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: My cycles were focused on repair, no recording available.
(08:13:40 PM) Jean: "We won't know until we ask him, really."
(08:13:55 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: Can you download now?
(08:14:18 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: Fully operational to 135%.
(08:14:50 PM) Auricle: "So we're off to Corwin, then?"
(08:15:26 PM) dkap: Flora: If you wish to consult him, go ahead. I'm sure he will have definite opinions. Although, I would suggest that the taste of those who are related to Random, or Random himself might be a better choice of guide, if you don't wish to explore the questions I'm asking.
(08:15:58 PM) Jean: "Random! Random sounds like a good choice."
(08:16:09 PM) Jean: "That will definitely keep the younglings from staying in the castle and cluttering things up."
(08:16:14 PM) Jean: "Thanks, Mom!"
(08:16:17 PM) dkap: And, I will point out that he is local, last time I checked.
(08:16:19 PM) Auricle: "It's not that we don't want to explore the questions. We're more hoping for an opinion.
(08:16:39 PM) dkap: *grin* I can't give you an opinion, until I know what you want.
(08:16:50 PM) dkap: Once you know what you want, I'd be happy to design it for you.
(08:17:00 PM) Auricle: *laughs* And we can't know what we want, because it isn't for us.
(08:17:17 PM) dkap: Personally, I would simply go with a somewhat large library, and a big comfy chair for the King.
(08:18:07 PM) dkap: A couple of large tables, for charts, offers, and food, maybe. A librarian or two, and a bunch of really good dogs.
(08:18:49 PM) Auricle: "Hmmm."
(08:19:35 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: Initiate backup of recent memory during off-sync starting time stamp of initiated self-repair mode.
(08:20:12 PM) Auricle: "It has the elegance of simplicity."
(08:20:32 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: Parameters beyond capability. There are no memories during the initiated self-repair mode.
(08:20:45 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: There is no off-sync time.
(08:21:52 PM) Auricle: "I do feel a real castle needs a receiving hall and a throne room, though.
(08:24:51 PM) dkap: Flora: Does it need to be a castle? Or just a place that the King can be found?
(08:25:19 PM) dkap: Of course, only when the King wants to be found ...
(08:26:10 PM) dkap: There is this tale of a king, in the center of a labyrinth, built of all the bureaucrats it takes to run a full government.
(08:26:13 PM) Jean: "It should be defensible, since it'll get attacked first. And it should be a place where people can feel important if they're part of formal functions."
(08:26:14 PM) Jean: "Really, we're not very focused on a long list of requirements."
(08:26:45 PM) Auricle: "And it needs to house some of the governmental offices and the like."
(08:26:57 PM) dkap: At one point, the king passed away, and it took over sixty years for the folks governed to notice, and then, they decided that they would rather be served by the bureaucrats than serve a king.
(08:27:39 PM) dkap: Why would you want to give someone a target to attack?
(08:27:55 PM) Jean: "Why not?"
(08:28:14 PM) dkap: Perhaps you should set up a tent, at the times that the King wanted to receive folks, and therefore, be portable, and not much prone to attacks.
(08:28:35 PM) Jean: "From what I heard, everyone attacked the old castle. Heck, _I_ attacked the old castle."
(08:28:49 PM) Auricle: "I never attacked the old castle.
(08:28:53 PM) Jean: "Won't people just attack the city even if there's no castle there?"
(08:28:55 PM) dkap: *grins* Exactly ... why build something like that?
(08:28:58 PM) Auricle: "I did try to subvert it from inside."
(08:29:01 PM) dkap: Then you have to maintain it.
(08:29:10 PM) Jean: "Close enough, Auricle."
(08:30:39 PM) dkap: They might attach the city, but, defending a city, especially an open one, instead of a walled one, is much easier than a castle. For people can flow back and forth, very easily, and the attacking army has to maintain siege positions in a much more precarious environment, especially if the locals don't like them.
(08:31:49 PM) Auricle: "Okay, so. The old castle is still perfectly usable, right where it is. I still think the King needs *something* in the new City, but perhaps we go with the Library and large dog idea. Although wouldn't they slobber on the books? Anyways. And a pavilion of sorts to set up whenever Deirdre wants."
(08:32:43 PM) dkap: If there are a number of places within the city, that the King is often seen, pubs, libraries, restaurants, the big square in the center of the market, for an open-air court ... it becomes much harder to occupy the symbol of authority.
(08:34:16 PM) Auricle: "I understand! That's a marvelous idea. Perhaps you'd rather help design -- or re-design -- the new City?"
(08:34:26 PM) dkap: Since Dierdre is not one to enjoy taking prisoners (having been one herself) she probably doesn't need a dungeon, and if she does, I'm sure the Chaos Torturer's guild would be happy to rent her some space.
(08:35:35 PM) dkap: Well, I'd be glad to help. Why do your Jagermonsters look so crestfallen though?
(08:35:59 PM) Auricle: "Jagers?" asked with concern.
(08:36:27 PM) dkap: Jagers: *sigh* No get destroy buildings already there. You promised!
(08:36:52 PM) Auricle: "We're going to redesign whole portions of the city. It'll be MORE buildings to destroy."
(08:37:11 PM) dkap: Jagers: Slaps each others palms.
(08:38:06 PM) Auricle: "Lady Florimel, your assistance will make this go much smoother. Not to mention a nicer City at the end."
(08:38:29 PM) dkap: Flora: I'd still suggest getting Random's advice on setting up a few clubs, dives, gambling establishments, and other entertainment locations. They are great places for a quiet word, or a place to have the various dignitaries entertained.
(08:38:53 PM) dkap: But I'd be happy to help the beginning effort.
(08:39:08 PM) dkap: What is the easiest way for us to get there?
(08:40:12 PM) Auricle: "Right now? Magical Gate or Walk."
(08:40:31 PM) Auricle: "Jean, are you willing to come with me to find Random?"
(08:40:46 PM) Jean: "Well, sure."
(08:40:53 PM) Jean: to Flora: "Are Random here?"
(08:42:31 PM) dkap: I would prefer the Magical Gate, it's much faster.
(08:43:02 PM) dkap: As to Random being about, they were a bit ago, but they said they were heading into Chaos Proper, to see what was going on there.
(08:43:31 PM) dkap: They probably got caught by the curfew, and are locked up somewhere, would be my guess.
(08:43:36 PM) Auricle: nods to Flora. "We Walked, but I also wanted to inspect how things have been settling down, so it accomplished two things at once."
(08:45:44 PM) Auricle: "Curfew?"
(08:46:41 PM) dkap: Yes, there is currently a curfew in place in Chaos, something about that being the Kings Will until things have settled down more.
(08:47:19 PM) Auricle: "What are the parameters?"
(08:47:37 PM) Jean: gm: do I see Random anywhere, and do I believe that I'm where the curfew breakers are being kept? That was Thelbane, right?
(08:48:03 PM) dkap: I am not, exactly, privy to them at the moment, but it does mean that you should be a member of the Kings Guard to be walking about, or understand time in Chaos, which, I know few people do.
(08:48:18 PM) dkap: They are under Thelbane, and no, you are not there.
(08:48:40 PM) dkap: And no, you do not see either of the Randoms, but you do see the Enforcers making sure that Curfew is kept.
(08:49:16 PM) Jean: gm: do I have a pass, or are they ignoring me, or am I just flying out of their grasp/reach?
(08:49:25 PM) dkap: You are considered to have a pass.
(08:49:42 PM) Auricle: "I have a terribly nebulous grasp of time anywhere."
(08:49:45 PM) dkap: Being a former Relms Lord, you outrank them, and they aren't willing to press suit.
(08:50:18 PM) Jean: excellent.
(08:50:30 PM) Auricle: "It's always too much or not enough.
(08:50:33 PM) Jean: that was my first guess; my second one was that I was in the Dancer's Guild and therefore not breaking curfew.
(08:50:58 PM) Jean: Is the/a King in residence at Thelbane?
(08:51:13 PM) dkap: No, you were there when Rainbow killed the King, remember?
(08:51:38 PM) Jean: yes, but I know OOC there's still a King.
(08:51:45 PM) Jean: I just can't recall what I know IC.
(08:51:55 PM) Jean: hence 'a' King ;)
(08:52:00 PM) dkap: In Character, the King is listed as Dead, presumed Missing.
(08:52:10 PM) dkap: Out of character, the king is dead.
(08:52:22 PM) dkap: Out of character, Rainbow is in hiding, for killing him.
(08:52:38 PM) Jean: ooc: I thought Silver Lyra was pretending to be King, for stability? and it was she who declared the curfew?
(08:53:13 PM) dkap: Nope, Osric actually declared it before he was killed.
(08:54:17 PM) dkap: Silver Lyra is prepared to puppet him if necessary, but is hoping it's not necessary, due to whatever might have happened to both that which took over the King's body, and that which is the remains of the actual King, either one countermanding her body, so she might not be in control, should she step up and do what is necessary.
(08:55:42 PM) Jean: checking logs...
(08:57:38 PM) Jean: hm, the logs are silent. I thought that we'd heard that it had moved from potential to actuality, but perhaps not.
(08:57:53 PM) Jean: so that's a bit of a problem, there. someone should deal with that, in realms lord time.
(08:58:24 PM) dkap: You know, that's exactly what Ilk said. *grin*
(08:58:25 PM) Jean: to Auricle: "If you can take the form of a Jean saucer, we can go to Thelbane. But you'll probably need to break the Randoms out, if they haven't already broken themselves out."
(08:58:29 PM) Jean: "Which, they probably have."
(08:59:04 PM) ***Auricle starts to shapeshift into Jean.
(08:59:31 PM) Auricle: I'll move the Gargoyle to inside of me for this.
(08:59:45 PM) dkap: Gargoyle reminds you of the horrors of the last time you did such.
(08:59:55 PM) Auricle: Stops.
(09:00:01 PM) Auricle: "No, wait, that was bad.
(09:00:05 PM) dkap: The extreme sensory overload, and the loss of self into Jean.
(09:00:10 PM) Auricle: Does not shift into Jean.
(09:00:23 PM) Auricle: "I can't. I turn into you."
(09:00:41 PM) Jean: "Oh, that would be awkward."
(09:00:58 PM) Jean: "Can you walk to Random and see if that leads out outside of Chaos?"
(09:01:00 PM) Auricle: "I haven't the upgrades to handle the sensory overload."
(09:01:07 PM) Auricle: "That, now, that I can do.
(09:01:19 PM) Jean: "Alternatively, if it brings you to Thelbane, you can just let the goon squads take you to Random."
(09:01:51 PM) Jean: "People keep saying this 'sensory overload' thing, but I don't know what it means."
(09:02:01 PM) Auricle: "Let's see if walking to Random leads out of Chaos. If it doesn't, I supposed I can allow myself to be taken to Random, assuming you have an ability to get me back out again."
(09:02:24 PM) Auricle: "Of course, if you can get me out, can't you just requisition the Randoms?"
(09:02:28 PM) Jean: "Ah. Well, that depends. Can you fit in a fish?"
(09:02:53 PM) Auricle: "I don't see why I *couldn't* fit in a fish.
(09:02:57 PM) Jean: "There's that important distinction between 'get out' and 'successfully request to get out' here."
(09:03:08 PM) Jean: produce said fish.
(09:03:20 PM) Jean: "This fish, you and Gargoyle."
(09:03:27 PM) Auricle: *tries to fit into said fish, with the Gargoyle*
(09:03:53 PM) dkap: Gargoyle won't fit in the fish.
(09:04:14 PM) Auricle: "No, I don't fit."
(09:04:20 PM) Auricle: *frowns*
(09:04:32 PM) dkap: But (one of the) Random(s) could carry Gargoyle?
(09:04:32 PM) Jean: "Hm. Then I may not be able to get you out."
(09:04:38 PM) Jean: "At least, not without crushing people."
(09:04:44 PM) dkap: Since Random(s) don't fit in the fish.
(09:04:49 PM) Auricle: OOC: Absolutely no one else gets my Gargoyle.
(09:05:16 PM) Auricle: OOC: I'd forget important things! Like getting into the fish. And my name. And to eat.
(09:05:58 PM) Jean: "So, you might get stuck in Thelbane."
(09:06:07 PM) Auricle: "Well, I wouldn't be able to take the Jagers, either, and Zack will get mad at me if I don't have bodygaurds."
(09:06:45 PM) Auricle: "Possibly...I could walk the pattern in my own head, but I wouldn't really want to try that in Chaos. It's a silly enough trick just in Shadow."
(09:07:03 PM) dkap: You might have to stage a Jail Break.
(09:07:42 PM) Auricle: "Right now is really not a good time for me to be stuck somewhere."
(09:09:07 PM) Auricle: "Well, we can at least start walking to Random and see which direction that's taking us."
(09:09:17 PM) dkap: Flora: And if you bring the fish into the prison, who knows who else you might be transporting out, with all of the desperate shape-shifters that might be in there.
(09:09:55 PM) Jean: "That is true - I hadn't thought about that. I could end up with internal bunnies again."
(09:10:05 PM) Jean: "And nobody wants that. Nobody except bunnies."
(09:10:12 PM) Auricle: *shudders* "That sounds horrible."
(09:11:38 PM) dkap: GM Side note: Sam, have you seen the "Over The Hedge" movie yet? There is some ... interesting images with bunnies, and their destruction in it.
(09:11:49 PM) Auricle: "So then. We shall Walk, and see if we are heading a good direction. Lady Florimel, I regret I'm not able to provide you with a Gate back to the City."
(09:11:58 PM) Auricle: OOC: DEar word I love that movie.
(09:12:09 PM) Jean: ooc: I have not, in fact.
(09:12:15 PM) Auricle: OOC: GO SEE!
(09:12:23 PM) Jean: ooc: noted
(09:13:03 PM) dkap: Flora: Then I will meet you back there, when you arrive.
(09:13:20 PM) Jean: gm: If we go outside, I will point out any goon squad members I see to Auricle
(09:13:34 PM) dkap: Check.
(09:13:50 PM) Auricle: OOC: Why do I think the Jagers will like the goon squad?
(09:13:57 PM) Auricle: ooc: *grin*
(09:14:58 PM) Auricle: "Great. C'mon on Jean, Jagers, let's go find some Randoms."
(09:15:00 PM) dkap: ooc: for breakfast?
(09:15:08 PM) Auricle: ooc: something like
(09:16:13 PM) dkap: And walkiies you begin.
(09:17:58 PM) Auricle: The beginning of walking will actually be flying, so as to avoid the moat of spherical objects.
(09:19:22 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(09:19:35 PM) dkap: But first, are you going to take leave of the House Head?
(09:20:11 PM) Auricle: Yes.
(09:20:48 PM) dkap: Right ... umm ... no Mike yet, so we will ret-con that back in when he gets here.
(09:20:59 PM) Auricle: Fair enough.
(09:21:02 PM) Auricle: Skip for now?
(09:21:26 PM) Auricle: or when is he showing up? run cagliostro for a bit while waiting?
(09:22:11 PM) Jean: Cagliostro might be hung waiting on dave kern, or there might be the Mysterious Incident with the Uniform
(09:22:14 PM) Jean is now known as Cagliostro
(09:22:48 PM) dkap: I'm actually waiting for information from other players for Cagliostro, at the moment, indeed.
(09:23:02 PM) dkap: I just checked to see if they have decided what they ret-conned themselves.
(09:23:04 PM) ***Cagliostro nods
(09:23:04 PM) dkap: *sigh*
(09:23:06 PM) Cagliostro is now known as Jean
(09:23:51 PM) Auricle: Ah the problems of being middle management, always waiting on others... *grin*
(09:24:42 PM) dkap: Indeed. *sigh*
(09:24:53 PM) dkap: And here I am, juggling their balls for them.
(09:25:53 PM) Auricle: Okay, we can ret-con in taking our leave, and instead, leave.
(09:26:05 PM) dkap: Indeed. So you then do.
(09:26:18 PM) dkap: The giant is sitting on the lawn, staring at the moat.
(09:26:45 PM) Auricle: It's awake now?
(09:27:04 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: remember, need to visit Tech Way and upgrade.
(09:27:47 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: Noted.
(09:27:52 PM) dkap: Yes, the giant is awake.
(09:28:48 PM) Auricle: "Hello?"
(09:29:35 PM) dkap: The giant looks up, and says: "Hello, I've been warned not to let anyone near this thing.
(09:29:44 PM) dkap: And to not go near it myself.
(09:30:00 PM) dkap: (Jean, it sounds like he is talking in a dialect of whale.)
(09:30:16 PM) Jean: *nod*
(09:31:44 PM) Auricle: "Probably smart. I'm told it isn't very nice. I'm just going to fly over it, very simple."
(09:32:44 PM) dkap: Good choice.
(09:35:26 PM) Auricle: "Hang on everyone." Focus on Random and which direction I ought to head, shift into my large-flying-multiple-person-carrying form and head up, then over, taking care to avoid looking at the roof or the clouds.
(09:35:59 PM) dkap: Up, up, and aw ... wooo, shiny!
(09:36:39 PM) Auricle: Wht's shiny now?
(09:36:54 PM) Auricle: (OOC: Eventually, I will be unable to look at anything in Chaos.)
(09:36:56 PM) dkap: Auricle flying over the moat.
(09:37:17 PM) Auricle: I'm shiny? Cool.
(09:37:29 PM) dkap: Yep.
(09:37:35 PM) dkap: And so is the moat.
(09:37:43 PM) dkap: But Gargoyle won't let you go there.
(09:37:43 PM) Auricle: YEs, but the moat is BAD.
(09:37:49 PM) Auricle: I can resist that.
(09:37:58 PM) dkap: And you are heading right for Chaos.
(09:38:16 PM) Auricle: "JEan, any goon squad down there?"
(09:38:45 PM) Jean: gm: can I see around where she's going?
(09:40:23 PM) dkap: Nope, only where she's been.
(09:40:41 PM) dkap: That whole "pattern walk" thing is especially not predictive when Auricle is doing it.
(09:41:11 PM) Auricle: *is special*
(09:41:36 PM) Auricle: "Jean?" panicks for a moment that she forgot Jean.
(09:42:30 PM) Jean: k
(09:42:39 PM) Jean: if I'm still around, I'll say "Yes?"
(09:42:49 PM) Jean: "I can't tell where you're going. I'll look around when you get there."
(09:43:37 PM) Auricle: "Oh, Weird. Here, let me land, we've been heading further into Chaos anyways."
(09:43:51 PM) Auricle: find a relatively benign looking area to land into.
(09:44:54 PM) dkap: Right ... benign.
(09:44:55 PM) dkap: *grin*
(09:45:06 PM) dkap: Nothing does attack you, you are a shifter, and might bite back.
(09:45:55 PM) Auricle: relatively, mind you. I relize benign is right out.
(09:46:18 PM) Auricle: "Here, landed for the moment."
(09:46:42 PM) Jean: gm: are we in chaos?
(09:47:23 PM) dkap: There is one benign place in chaos, it's the bare spot, on the other side of what used to be the ... now I've forgotten the name of it.
(09:47:26 PM) dkap: Rift?
(09:47:44 PM) Jean: Abyss?
(09:47:50 PM) dkap: Not yet, you are in the shadow that spans between the atoll and chaos.
(09:47:55 PM) dkap: Abyss, yes, that.
(09:48:28 PM) dkap: Bloody memory, I'll forget what the other crow is called one day. Hugin and ... damn!
(09:49:03 PM) Auricle: *points* That's the way I'm currently headed.
(09:49:22 PM) arkhonII [~arkhon@pool-71-184-105-219.bstnma.fios.verizon.net] entered the room.
(09:49:31 PM) Jean: "Well, I think we have to go through Chaos to get anywhere. But we may walk through it or in it. I guess."
(09:49:33 PM) arkhonII: HOME
(09:49:40 PM) Jean: "It should be pretty obvious which is which."
(09:49:42 PM) Auricle: (OOC: GReetings Mike!)
(09:49:42 PM) Jean: (greets!)
(09:50:21 PM) arkhonII: That...was some weather.
(09:50:54 PM) dkap: Rain? Snow? Hail?
(09:51:03 PM) arkhonII: Just two of the three.
(09:51:05 PM) dkap: Sleet? Puppydogs and kittycats?
(09:51:45 PM) Auricle: Yay weather, except for delaying the return home.
(09:52:57 PM) dkap: So ... a piece that needs to be run.
(09:53:14 PM) dkap: They finished their conversation with Flora, and then went to take leave of you.
(09:53:42 PM) arkhonII: Good.
(09:55:32 PM) Auricle: *turns to Caelin* I hope our invasion wasn't too inconvenient.
(09:56:13 PM) arkhonII: *blink* There's such a quality as 'convenience', with invasions?
(09:58:06 PM) Auricle: "Well, we avoided property damage and bloodshed. Convenient, as far as invansions go."
(09:58:50 PM) arkhonII: "Property damage is the least of my worries, I'll admit"
(10:00:15 PM) Auricle: "Excellent, then we've hardly worried you." *smiles*
(10:03:44 PM) dkap: Gm: to Caelin, they are your guests, visiting someone in your house, and this is their leave-taking ...
(10:06:15 PM) arkhonII: *nods* "I take it we can be of no more service to you?"
(10:07:19 PM) Auricle: "At the moment, no, unless you know how to get Random out of Thelbane"
(10:08:43 PM) arkhonII: :o_O
(10:08:54 PM) arkhonII: "Is there a reason you want him out of THelbane?
(10:09:18 PM) Auricle: "Consultation on City Planning and Design."
(10:09:33 PM) dkap: (They are a house member, and if they are incarcerated, it might be your job to get them out.)
(10:10:20 PM) arkhonII: (Why would they/he be incarcerated?)
(10:12:00 PM) Jean: (Curfew violations - we talked about curfew before you got back)
(10:12:13 PM) arkhonII: (smacks forehead)
(10:12:47 PM) arkhonII: (Gotta recall..._I_ got out of curfew, but I don't remember the stipulations thereof.
(10:14:08 PM) Jean: (I went back and checked the logs - Johnny 3 got out of curfew by beating up the goon squad with Hamster Benedict and Ifrit)
(10:14:32 PM) arkhonII: Oops. Johnny.
(10:14:35 PM) arkhonII: Okay.
(10:15:25 PM) arkhonII: : sighs. "ALright, perhaps it's time to pay Thelbane a visit"
(10:15:49 PM) Auricle: *blinks* You'd like to come along?
(10:15:49 PM) arkhonII: "Methinks it would be considered gauche to just open a comm gate there.
(10:16:13 PM) Auricle: "I can fly. And Walk. Or Both. Probably not atthe same time."
(10:16:15 PM) dkap: Well ... not inside Thelbane, anyway.
(10:18:21 PM) Auricle: "So I suppose you are welcome to come along."
(10:19:07 PM) arkhonII: Very well.
(10:19:33 PM) arkhonII: "I suggest we simply walk the distance."
(10:19:50 PM) Auricle: "All right then."
(10:20:08 PM) Auricle: GM: DO you want to just catchup to where we were when Mike got home, then?
(10:20:54 PM) Jean: sure.
(10:21:20 PM) Jean: meanwhile, after talking to the giant and flying over the moat, the crew lands one shadow Logrus-ward out from Chaos...
(10:23:46 PM) dkap: Benign-ish spot, panic over if Jean is still with them, and then, a stroll chaos-wards, or does Caelin want to open a magical gate straight to outside of Thelbane?
(10:24:08 PM) Auricle: Indeed. Simpler, that.
(10:24:20 PM) arkhonII: Caelin does NOT want to open a gate just outside Thelbane.
(10:24:26 PM) arkhonII: Nor will he.
(10:24:46 PM) dkap: Just checking.
(10:24:54 PM) dkap: A walking you will go, then.
(10:25:05 PM) arkhonII: uh huh
(10:25:13 PM) dkap: Caelin, are you taking any of your other duties in hand, and where is your Fiancee going to be?
(10:25:50 PM) arkhonII: "Archivist...is there any word of where the meeting will be held? Thelbane, I hope?"
(10:26:11 PM) Auricle: *blinks* (Did I bring the Archivist??)
(10:26:41 PM) arkhonII: Methinks he came preinstalled with House Moonlight. ;-)
(10:28:16 PM) Auricle: *refocuses on Random and where we're headed*
(10:28:48 PM) Jean: archivist-related conversations are probably a retcon. Although Natasha probably did come with Caelin... er, travel with.
(10:29:32 PM) Auricle: I will need to install seats into my flying form, at this rate. :)
(10:30:02 PM) arkhonII: Ahh.
(10:30:21 PM) arkhonII: Well, we can fly by your choice, if you wish. I prefer not to use magic at this time.
(10:30:50 PM) dkap: Flying was the way over the moat.
(10:31:05 PM) arkhonII: Right
(10:31:16 PM) Auricle: "At this point, now that we're past your moat, walking will be simpler for all. I think."
(10:31:38 PM) arkhonII: "Fair enough. Let's be about this. Natasha, coming along?"
(10:35:28 PM) dkap: Of course, dear.
(10:35:55 PM) dkap: Not letting you back out of my site, besides, there is household issues here, and I'm determined to make sure you don't get side-tracked.
(10:36:04 PM) Auricle: "Great. We're headed....thisaway." Auricle starts walking.
(10:36:12 PM) arkhonII: "Alright then, everybody. Here's the door. *heads out*
(10:36:30 PM) Auricle: (Auricle now has this odd image of Natasha as Caelin's Gargoyle)
(10:36:40 PM) arkhonII: o_O
(10:36:51 PM) arkhonII: (WOW does that conjure images)
(10:37:01 PM) dkap: (At this point in time a fast-forward montage, of the conversation with the giant, the flight, and then the beginning of the walk happens)
(10:37:43 PM) dkap: GM mutters to himself "You forget, when you are drunk, I am in charge. We go ... That a-way!"
(10:38:01 PM) arkhonII: heh
(10:38:47 PM) Auricle: Ah, montage! Excellent!
(10:39:49 PM) Auricle: We Walk.
(10:40:24 PM) Auricle: "So, everyone, tell me about Thelbane."
(10:41:03 PM) arkhonII: "What do you wish to know?"
(10:42:19 PM) Jean: "It's where meetings happen, where the king holds court, and where some bad people go when they die."
(10:42:24 PM) Auricle: "Well, I've never actually been there that I remember."
(10:42:36 PM) arkhonII: "Consider yourself blessed."
(10:42:54 PM) Auricle: "Well, I would, if not remembering meant I've actually never been there."
(10:43:17 PM) Jean: "Big black needly place."
(10:43:42 PM) Auricle: "sounds....icky."
(10:44:00 PM) arkhonII: "I avoid it when I can."
(10:44:57 PM) Jean: "It's not so bad. I usually hang out near it."
(10:45:22 PM) Auricle: "I guess I shall make up my own mind."
(10:46:16 PM) dkap: A large flock of some sort of flying individuals swerve by you for a better look, and then swerve off.
(10:46:54 PM) arkhonII: "What? Are they migrating to Amber for the winter?!"
(10:47:15 PM) Auricle: "Maybe they are lost?"
(10:47:32 PM) Jean: gm: goon squad?
(10:48:01 PM) arkhonII: Crebain from Dunland.
(10:48:16 PM) dkap: Jean: possibly their advanced scouts.
(10:48:25 PM) Jean: "Possibly scouts."
(10:49:55 PM) Auricle: "OOh, I could look like Goon Squad! Wouldn't that prohibit them from wanting me? Or is that a bad idea?"
(10:50:28 PM) arkhonII: "I wouldn't encourage it."
(10:50:56 PM) Auricle: "Right."
(10:53:09 PM) Auricle: "Are we getting more Thelbane-y in the landscape? or less? I'm mostly trying to home in on the Randoms."
(10:53:20 PM) dkap: You are getting to the border of Chaos, yes.
(10:53:32 PM) arkhonII: :points. "THat-a-way"
(10:54:03 PM) dkap: Umm ... this is chaos, "that a-way" is often ambiguous, and wrong.
(10:54:19 PM) arkhonII: "Feh"
(10:54:31 PM) arkhonII: (Does Caelin remember the way to Thelbane?)
(10:54:55 PM) Jean: (step 1: open a magical gate)
(10:55:03 PM) Auricle: (hee)
(10:55:23 PM) Auricle: continue to focus on the Walk and making sure I don't lose anyone.
(10:56:11 PM) dkap: A bunch of brigands jump out at you and demand your "free from curfew" passes.
(10:56:28 PM) dkap: Some of them are even Chandroid in shape.
(10:56:58 PM) arkhonII: "I have been ordered to attend a house head meeting. If you will please excuse me and my entourage..."
(10:57:17 PM) Jean: gm: do these guys look like the goon squad?
(10:57:57 PM) dkap: Nope. They most certainly do not.
(10:58:25 PM) Jean: "Hm. You don't look like the regular goon squad. Do you have your identification?"
(10:58:28 PM) Jean: gm: if I'm near the regular goon squad, fink on these guys.
(10:59:34 PM) dkap: You can be, or at least, near their dispatch, at Thelbane, where you are hanging out.
(11:00:22 PM) Jean: sure, drop by dispatch and let them know about the imposters
(11:00:33 PM) Jean: after all, the best way of making sure the rules don't apply to you is to enforce them. Hence, Jean's bodyguard gigs.
(11:01:07 PM) dkap: The brigands are not impostors, they just want to steal your passes, so they can wander about without worrying about curfew.
(11:01:28 PM) dkap: Indeed. Do you offer to fish some nice enforcers to the site?
(11:01:36 PM) arkhonII: Ahh
(11:01:50 PM) Jean: if they are fishable, sure.
(11:02:07 PM) Jean: it will only occur to jean if they can't track it down.
(11:02:21 PM) Jean: I think that Jean has misinterpreted them.
(11:02:27 PM) Jean: if only to get them in more trouble ;)
(11:02:33 PM) arkhonII: Heh
(11:03:02 PM) Auricle: hee
(11:03:04 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(11:03:27 PM) dkap: They would actually ask you to get them there, so they could apprehend the impostors red-handed.
(11:03:51 PM) Jean: sure, I will transport any fishable goons
(11:06:55 PM) Auricle: watches the brigands and the rest of the group, figuring the locals have a better grasp on things.
(11:07:38 PM) dkap: Out of Jean pours the Curfew Police.
(11:08:24 PM) Auricle: *wonders how he fit them inside in the first place.*
(11:08:24 PM) dkap: There is great tumult.
(11:09:02 PM) dkap: All sorts of projectiles are launched at each other, flaming, and otherwise edged weapons are deployed.
(11:09:06 PM) arkhonII: *turns to Auricle* "It's all about the fish."
(11:09:14 PM) dkap: There is much activity.
(11:09:48 PM) dkap: And, for some reason, none of it effects anyone standing there, except for the few stray shots that, of course, unerringly head for Caelin, and are intercepted by Natasha.
(11:10:00 PM) Auricle: "I need to get me some fish, seriously."
(11:10:15 PM) Jean: "Well, you -are- the new Dworkin. He's all about the fish."
(11:10:35 PM) Jean: "I ought to try to teach you the thing with the loaves and the thing with the fish."
(11:10:55 PM) dkap: Auricle is the New Dworkin? Is that like Orange is the New Black?
(11:11:26 PM) Auricle: *grins* "that would be cool." shrug "But I'm not the new Dworkin, I'm just me."
(11:11:39 PM) Auricle: "It's just a new pattern."
(11:12:03 PM) Jean: "Well, yes, but you're the Dworkin to the new Pattern. Since we don't have a warranty on the original New Dworkin candidate."
(11:12:27 PM) Jean: ":Shall we continue?"
(11:13:17 PM) Auricle: "In an analogous kind of way, I suppose." nods. "Yes, let's keep going." Starts to Walk again.
(11:13:27 PM) dkap: In about a quarter-turning, all the activity around you has ceased.
(11:13:44 PM) Auricle: Who won?
(11:13:52 PM) dkap: One of the remaining Curfew Police thanks you for your assistance in this matter.
(11:16:01 PM) dkap: Natasha salutes the Curfew Policeman Slug with her drink.
(11:16:31 PM) Auricle: *was waiting for a local to respond to the Curfew Police. Is scattered, not dumb.*
(11:17:01 PM) dkap: *grin*
(11:18:34 PM) dkap: Jean, are you going to mention what your destination is to them, so you might have an escort to right where you are going to go?
(11:19:04 PM) Jean: you know, I don't think that will occur to Jean.
(11:19:21 PM) dkap: Caelin?
(11:21:19 PM) arkhonII: Here
(11:21:21 PM) arkhonII: Sorry.
(11:21:37 PM) Auricle: (I was wondering if in a strange twist, we'd kept dkap and lost Mike...)
(11:21:44 PM) arkhonII: Heh
(11:22:04 PM) arkhonII: "Our destination is Thelbane, and we'd appreciate it if you would escort us there."
(11:22:41 PM) dkap: "With pleasure, House Head." Right this way.
(11:23:03 PM) arkhonII: :frowns, but proceeds.
(11:23:18 PM) Auricle: follows along...
(11:23:40 PM) Jean: follows, of course
(11:24:36 PM) dkap: And, being that you had your one wandering monster encounter for the night ... (thank you OOTS)
(11:24:54 PM) arkhonII: lol
(11:25:09 PM) Auricle: (oots?)
(11:25:15 PM) dkap: Order Of The Stick.
(11:25:19 PM) dkap: It's a cartoon.
(11:25:29 PM) Auricle: AH!
(11:25:32 PM) arkhonII: http://www.giantitp.com/
(11:25:33 PM) arkhonII: Yes.
(11:25:36 PM) Auricle: Indeed.
(11:25:40 PM) arkhonII: But back to this game.
(11:25:43 PM) Auricle: I read it
(11:26:36 PM) Auricle: Actually, I'm fairly beat, and could probably stand to call game here, which seems a decent stopping point.
(11:27:40 PM) dkap: Sounds like a motion to ajourn. Those are always in order.
(11:27:45 PM) dkap: Is there a second?
(11:27:48 PM) arkhonII: Seconded!
(11:27:51 PM) Jean: sounds reasonable, I was about a minute from pumpkining
(11:27:53 PM) Jean: night!
(11:27:57 PM) Jean left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving).
(11:28:00 PM) dkap: Motion carries.
(11:28:12 PM) arkhonII left the room.
(11:28:32 PM) dkap: Wow, you proposed the motion, and they bugged out faster.
(11:28:33 PM) Auricle: night
(11:28:34 PM) dkap: *grin*
(11:28:36 PM) dkap: Sleep well.
(11:28:44 PM) Auricle: you too.
(11:28:52 PM) Auricle left the room (quit: Read error: EOF from client).
