(08:05:48 PM) Cagliostro: woo.
(08:07:07 PM) dkap: Eet.
(08:08:06 PM) Cagliostro: btw, I've been reading the locks of the Clockwork Dreaming game. Things you don't want to see: Tir on fire, on a night with no moon.
(08:09:24 PM) Auricle: Hello
(08:09:26 PM) Auricle: bak
(08:09:39 PM) dkap: Tir on fire? What?
(08:09:42 PM) ***Auricle misses Tir. It loves me.
(08:09:53 PM) dkap: Tir is often on fire, on some level of the dreaming or another.
(08:10:11 PM) dkap: It's just harder to see, at night, with no moon.
(08:10:45 PM) dkap: BTW, I'm thinking of canceling for next week, so people can watch/deal with/etc the election.
(08:10:56 PM) Cagliostro: sure.
(08:11:02 PM) Cagliostro: we can channel our inner cara-ites.
(08:11:11 PM) Cagliostro: since Shiryu hasn't weighed in for this.
(08:12:05 PM) Auricle: That seems like an idea.
(08:12:53 PM) dkap: And since I'm helping out at the polling center, I could run it off my blackberry, but ...
(08:13:06 PM) Auricle: hee
(08:13:09 PM) Auricle: not really
(08:13:30 PM) dkap: And the volunteers are getting together to either drink themselves into insensibility or to drink to the health of the new president ... I might be up to my ass in drunk folk.
(08:13:52 PM) Auricle: I have a totally non-Amber question. If you had a ship called The Heavenly Voice, what would you make it's logo? And not something with angel wings, I need those for the Dark Seraph's logo.
(08:14:15 PM) dkap: A trumpet, or better yet, straight horn motif?
(08:14:33 PM) Cagliostro: something related to the Metatron; perhaps a flame
(08:14:44 PM) Cagliostro: a trumpet or straight horn over a flaming background?
(08:14:46 PM) dkap: Perhaps crossed horns, with a halo above ... vaguely reminiscent of the pirate flag?
(08:15:08 PM) dkap: Flame is also good.
(08:16:37 PM) Auricle: See, I knew a fresh perspective would be smart.
(08:16:41 PM) Auricle: :)
(08:17:14 PM) Auricle: I *really* like the crossed horns with the halo, vaguely pirates. Thank you.
(08:17:25 PM) dkap: *grin* I do know your taste ...
(08:18:40 PM) Auricle: Well, that, and the ship is crewed by the Bad Guys.
(08:19:12 PM) dkap: Of course it is ... they named it the Heavenly Voice.
(08:19:16 PM) Auricle: (is in a dark side star wars D20 game and ...in her spare time (hah) building a web site for the game.)
(08:19:28 PM) dkap: Most cool.
(08:19:52 PM) Auricle: We're a little crazy.
(08:19:55 PM) Auricle: :)
(08:19:58 PM) Auricle: In that good way.
(08:20:43 PM) dkap: I think I still have the "Haven Weyr" stuff you built all those years ago, still kicking around on my backup disks.
(08:21:17 PM) Auricle: Oh, goodness.
(08:21:25 PM) Auricle: We folded the weyr years ago.
(08:21:37 PM) dkap: Yep, that's why it's on my backup disks, instead of live.
(08:23:25 PM) Auricle: So, are we waiting on anyone else for game?
(08:24:53 PM) dkap: Umm ... We can start. Let me check where we left off?
(08:25:03 PM) Auricle: K
(08:25:11 PM) ***Auricle isn't sure anymore herself.
(08:29:22 PM) dkap: Hrm ... my hand-notes just say "Boom and more boom"
(08:29:49 PM) Cagliostro: that could be a lot of games
(08:29:54 PM) dkap: Indeed it could.
(08:30:41 PM) Cagliostro: We'd talked about the Head's mother now that the Head was in a silent space
(08:30:56 PM) Cagliostro: Norton was imported to deal with the Head then exported
(08:31:16 PM) Auricle: Um...Caelin left and did stuff.
(08:31:24 PM) Cagliostro: Mr. Zorg has placed the head on the wall, and has written the sign: "This man invaded his own grandmother's city", placed behind the head.
(08:31:35 PM) Auricle: Somehow...without being there...Auricle is his second for some duel.
(08:31:40 PM) Cagliostro: Caelin was going to take the body to Gerard
(08:31:41 PM) Auricle: Ah, excellent.
(08:31:53 PM) Auricle: Caelin did take the body
(08:32:02 PM) Cagliostro: Norton got out somewhere during transit
(08:32:10 PM) Auricle: And we were talking to Mr. Zorg!
(08:32:27 PM) Auricle: And wondering where the Jaeger fetching the guy whose name I forget went.
(08:33:01 PM) Auricle: er, well, auricle is wondering.
(08:33:25 PM) Cagliostro: the duelling and seconding I think happened whilst I was elsewhere.
(08:34:18 PM) Auricle: auricle wasn't even there, I just know it happened.
(08:35:24 PM) dkap: I was wondering why my web browser was taking so long to open, I opened my mail by mistake.
(08:35:55 PM) Auricle: heee
(08:42:34 PM) dkap: Ok ... most of my notes center around Kintani.
(08:43:32 PM) Auricle: yeah, it's been a little bit since we had game
(08:47:52 PM) dkap: I think we had just discussed the whole "local Corwin pattern" sent Norton back, Kintani has hied off to deal with Dragon Things.
(08:48:07 PM) dkap: Backed up by a force of Hamsters.
(08:48:33 PM) Auricle: yes that sounds right.
(08:48:37 PM) dkap: There was a head set on a wall, a distracted Chef, a missing Horseman ...
(08:50:33 PM) Auricle: Yes.
(08:50:36 PM) dkap: Or was the Horseman and the Head the same?
(08:50:42 PM) Auricle: No.
(08:50:50 PM) Cagliostro: I thought so
(08:51:01 PM) Auricle: There was a second horseman, who pledged service to Auricle, and I lost once we got to the city.
(08:51:02 PM) Cagliostro: the Horse's owner became the Head after a poorly planned invasion of the test Amber
(08:51:08 PM) Auricle: horseman, not Rider.
(08:51:10 PM) Cagliostro: hm, I don't recall him.
(08:51:34 PM) Auricle: hang on
(08:51:52 PM) dkap: Right, that was the missing horseman.
(08:51:56 PM) dkap: That's what I thought.
(08:51:58 PM) dkap: Rider.
(08:52:22 PM) dkap: And I seem to recall you folks gating somewhere.
(08:52:26 PM) dkap: But I can't remember where.
(08:52:50 PM) Auricle: Caelin gated.
(08:52:52 PM) Auricle: Not us.
(08:52:54 PM) Auricle: We stayed put.
(08:53:44 PM) Auricle: <Auricle> GM: Oh, hey, I sent a Jager last game session to fetch...the annoying guy who decided to work for me nstead. Did he get found? [2008-09-30 21:58:09] <dkap> Not yet.
(08:53:58 PM) Auricle: So there's someone else, not the Head/Rider/
(08:55:01 PM) Auricle: He was the guy who attacked us in the distraction place, WHILE the Rider was attacking the fake city
(08:55:05 PM) Auricle: so can't be the same person
(08:55:21 PM) Auricle: Olim! Aha!
(08:55:41 PM) Auricle: His name is Olim, he owned Pip.
(08:55:48 PM) Cagliostro: oh! Olim. I recall him.
(08:55:54 PM) Auricle: (This is from Sept 16th and earlier)
(08:55:59 PM) Cagliostro: he's a fair way from Amber, though.
(08:56:08 PM) Cagliostro: unless Olim came back with us and we lost him?
(08:56:09 PM) Auricle: No, he came with us.
(08:56:14 PM) Auricle: And we lost him.
(08:56:17 PM) Cagliostro: Warfare of a five year old. ;)
(08:56:21 PM) Auricle: Once we got under Kolvir.
(08:56:21 PM) Cagliostro is now known as Jean
(08:56:32 PM) Auricle: Warfare of an amnesiac :)
(08:56:49 PM) Auricle: And Auricle realized he was lost and sent a Jaeger after him.
(08:56:56 PM) Auricle: whew
(08:57:09 PM) Auricle: And the Jaeger never came back, which bothers me more than missing Olim.
(08:57:45 PM) dkap: Indeed, so we go looking for Olim?
(08:58:14 PM) Auricle: Well, the Jaeger, at least.
(08:58:19 PM) Jean: sure, appropriate quantities and qualifies of Jean will follow Auricle
(08:58:38 PM) Auricle: After congratulating Mr. Zorg on a successful defense of the City under Kolvir.
(08:59:57 PM) dkap: Yep, you did that.
(09:00:14 PM) dkap: Mr. Zorg is quite happy with it, and is going to continue to work on improvements.
(09:00:23 PM) dkap: Especially since this was only half-built, at the time.
(09:00:31 PM) dkap: And still managed to defeat an Amberite.
(09:01:34 PM) Jean: attract and defeat. ;)
(09:01:48 PM) Jean: there may be something to the bait city approach.
(09:01:50 PM) Jean: the amberite motel.
(09:01:55 PM) Auricle: "Perhaps we need a series of them."
(09:03:08 PM) dkap: Well ... if there is a series of them, then the Amberites might think there is something fishy going on. But if there is just one, with another city to the side, very similar to the way Amber was two cities (just one inside the other) (well ... 4 actually, nested, but ... Arden and the Port don't really count, and Kolvir just wasn't really an avenue ...)
(09:03:49 PM) dkap: You might be able to get away with them thinking that the heavily fortified one, with all the military preparedness going on would be the city that houses the important stuff.
(09:05:49 PM) dkap: So, you are going to look for Olim.
(09:05:50 PM) ***Auricle is sure Zorg will figure it out.
(09:05:51 PM) Auricle: :)
(09:06:17 PM) Auricle: I'm going to look for my Jaeger who is looking for Olim.
(09:06:22 PM) Auricle: There is a difference.
(09:07:54 PM) dkap: Indeed, a very important difference.
(09:08:04 PM) dkap: Jager are important, Olim, perhaps, not as much.
(09:09:36 PM) Auricle: So, we head back to the real City.
(09:09:52 PM) dkap: Hi HO!
(09:10:37 PM) dkap: Chef D has sat down with his wisk and a bowl of something that doesn't entirely want to stay in the bowl, and he keeps whapping it back down when it tries to escape his whisking.
(09:10:54 PM) Auricle: "Er, Chef D, we're kinda moving again."
(09:11:02 PM) dkap: Pip has finished the harness, has noticed that Caelin has already left, and is beginning to disassemble it.
(09:11:47 PM) dkap: Chef D: "I know it's moving, and I don't know what is wrong with it. It wasn't moving when I started whisking it ...
(09:12:38 PM) dkap: Pip stows the harness bits, and grabs his cart, ready to go.
(09:13:10 PM) dkap: Chef D is muttering something about local yeast being a bit more robust than he expected.
(09:13:34 PM) dkap: And something about more salt than sugar next time.
(09:13:50 PM) Auricle: checks with the Gargoyle and then looks confused. "But we found you in the City in the first place!"
(09:15:36 PM) dkap: Chef D: "Umm ... you found me here? But ... we've traveled so far ... how could we be back where we started?
(09:16:06 PM) Auricle: "Er...Magic?"
(09:16:31 PM) Auricle: "Caelin opened a gate back to here. Because I asked."
(09:17:09 PM) dkap: Chef D: "Magic has no place in cooking. It tends to make the results ... unpredictable at best."
(09:19:02 PM) Auricle: "Well, I agree, Magic has no place in science, either. But, my best friend is a mage so you learn to accept these things."
(09:19:13 PM) Auricle: "C'mon, we're looking for a Jager."
(09:19:31 PM) ***Auricle starts off back to the real City.
(09:19:58 PM) dkap: Pip gently eases the muttering Chef D onto his cart, and starts pulling him along with the rest of his load.
(09:21:10 PM) dkap: Over you go, to the real city. There is lots of noise, celebratory noise, reaching your ears.
(09:21:28 PM) dkap: And it sounds like a ... parade?
(09:21:54 PM) Auricle: "Gargoyle?"
(09:22:02 PM) Auricle: "Where's it coming from?"
(09:22:08 PM) dkap: The City.
(09:22:16 PM) dkap: Even Auricle can tell that.
(09:22:26 PM) Auricle: Yes, where in the city?
(09:22:28 PM) Auricle: :P
(09:23:33 PM) dkap: In front of you ... all over it.
(09:24:43 PM) dkap: You can see streamers flying and the like.
(09:25:00 PM) ***Auricle looks completely...confused.
(09:25:02 PM) dkap: Balloons loosed from the careless hands of children.
(09:25:11 PM) Jean: "This is unusually festive for Amber. I like it."
(09:25:49 PM) ***Auricle reaches up....very very up...grabs the balloon, hands back to the child, absently.
(09:26:01 PM) Auricle: "Um. Festive."
(09:26:06 PM) Auricle: "But WHY?"
(09:26:17 PM) ***Jean hms.
(09:27:06 PM) Jean: "I'd think they were celebrating the city not being blown up, but I don't think there were enough survivors from earlier Amber cities to know the difference."
(09:27:11 PM) dkap: The child claps her hands in joy, and goes skipping off, back into the crowd, probably, inevitably, to lose the balloon again, in the not too distant future, like many of her playmates.
(09:28:29 PM) Auricle: GM: What are people saying?
(09:30:54 PM) dkap: "Yay" "Hurrah" "Our heroes"
(09:31:45 PM) ***Auricle shrugs.
(09:32:21 PM) ***Auricle starts pushing through the crowd, realizes that's silly, and shapeshifts to fly up into the air to get a look at what's happening.
(09:34:10 PM) dkap: There is a parade snaking it's way across your city, lots of soldiers marching in the parade, a big band both before and after the soldiers, and, interestingly enough, many soldiers, not in uniform, doing much of the cheering, handing out of balloons, and the like, making sure everyone knows about the parade. The soldiers marching in front are carrying a banner that reads "Our Hometown Heroes"
(09:34:41 PM) dkap: There is candy and momentos being thrown to the crowd.
(09:35:19 PM) dkap: Also, interestingly enough, there is no particular flag in evidence, nor any particular sign or flag on the candy and momentos.
(09:35:27 PM) Auricle: JAgers? Or Soldiers?
(09:36:13 PM) dkap: Mixed.
(09:36:45 PM) dkap: And the soldiers are wearing familiar uniforms, as in the uniforms that you just saw on the troops that Mr. Zorg was running.
(09:37:51 PM) ***Auricle lands. "Did Mr. Zorg authorize a parade?"
(09:42:35 PM) dkap: Pip shrugs, Chef D is now half covered in whatever it was he was trying to contain, and has moved up to using a cleaver to defend himself, and Jean seems, apparently too distracted to even formulate an answer.
(09:42:49 PM) dkap: The Jager seem anxious to join the parade.
(09:43:46 PM) dkap: Gargoyle, using a bit of Auricle as a speaker: "Parades are, statistically, useful for someone to hide an assassination attempt in."
(09:44:09 PM) dkap: At this the Jager subside and get more watchful of Auricle's well being, even though the red shields are still up.
(09:44:24 PM) Auricle: "Well, let's go join the parade then. After all, I wouldn't want to miss an assassination attempt. Besides, I was thinking that parades were useful to sneak troops in."
(09:44:47 PM) Auricle: GM: Where did the parade seem to be headed?
(09:45:32 PM) dkap: Winding through the real city.
(09:45:49 PM) dkap: No particular goal apparent, except to cover ground.
(09:46:23 PM) dkap: And where they were, there is still enthusiasm, and where they are going the soldiers not in the parade are encouraging enthusiasm by acting all excited, and the like.
(09:46:38 PM) Auricle: "Hmm."
(09:47:07 PM) ***Auricle sets course through the crowds towards the reflecting pool, capturing lost balloons along the way and returning them to their owners.
(09:48:37 PM) dkap: Pip follows, with Chef D still on top of his cart.
(09:51:21 PM) Auricle: start having the gargoyle run an analysis of the crowd enthusiasm; does the parade seem to be getting closer or further away as we move?
(09:53:09 PM) dkap: Maintaining an average distance.
(09:53:23 PM) dkap: Jean, have you been following Auricle or has the parade distracted you too much?
(09:54:34 PM) Jean: I don't think Jean is that distracted by the parade
(09:54:45 PM) Jean: it's not really much more random than normal crowds.
(09:55:00 PM) Jean: probably following auricle at some distance and with the normal amount of meandering.
(09:55:28 PM) dkap: RIght.
(09:55:32 PM) dkap: She's at the reflecting pool.
(09:55:34 PM) ***Auricle accidently hands a balloon to Jean. After all, he is in primal 5 year old.
(09:56:00 PM) Auricle: whoops., well, I'll give him one when he gets here.
(09:57:25 PM) Jean: well, let me know when I get there.
(09:59:08 PM) dkap: You get there. Minimal amount of distraction, you said.
(09:59:19 PM) Jean: yep.
(09:59:31 PM) ***Jean will accept the balloon with some small amount of skepticism.
(10:00:01 PM) dkap: Jean, it could be food, it seems to move somewhat like food should.
(10:00:24 PM) Jean: but it doesn't smell foodish.
(10:00:28 PM) Jean: hence the skepticism.
(10:00:54 PM) Auricle: GM: Has the reflected pattern appeared?
(10:02:04 PM) dkap: Not as to yet.
(10:02:23 PM) dkap: But ... deep down in the pool the moon has begun to reflect, so it is beginning.
(10:02:40 PM) Auricle: Yay!
(10:02:56 PM) ***Auricle sits on the edge of the pool.
(10:03:08 PM) Auricle: "Unusually festive for Amber. Check."
(10:03:49 PM) Auricle: "I suppose festive isn't bad, though."
(10:04:46 PM) Jean: "Probably not."
(10:04:57 PM) Jean: "I think Zorg has it under control."
(10:05:18 PM) Auricle: "Zorg is here? I thought he was at the fake city."
(10:06:19 PM) Jean: "I'm sure he has minions."
(10:06:34 PM) Jean: "If you're worried, go to the fake city and ask hima bout it."
(10:06:50 PM) Auricle: "Well, of course, everyone has min...minions! My people! Weren't they supposed to be showing up here?"
(10:08:44 PM) Jean: "...maybe?"
(10:09:42 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: Minions? Lab people? Showing up?
(10:10:14 PM) dkap: Gargoyle responds in the affirmative, that such arrangements were made.
(10:10:23 PM) dkap: Asks if you want the transcript played back.
(10:10:40 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: Please.
(10:11:57 PM) dkap: Plays back the transcription of meeting with the gentleman in the office, and he was going to seek them for you, and see if they were willing to go back into your employ. Not exactly your best job of negotiating, but ...
(10:12:14 PM) ***Auricle nods.
(10:12:32 PM) Auricle: "Well yes. Then, if they wanted." frowns "Why wouldn't they want to?"
(10:13:49 PM) dkap: You have no idea why they wouldn't want to.
(10:14:02 PM) dkap: He seemed to think otherwise, but was willing to go through the effort for you.
(10:14:19 PM) dkap: You could check the block of buildings set aside for your lab-work.
(10:14:34 PM) Auricle: "Gargoyle says they are supposed to if they want to. I can't imagine why they wouldn't. So. Minions, possibly even here." she says to Jean.
(10:14:46 PM) ***Auricle then gets up and heads off towards her labs.
(10:15:16 PM) dkap: Gargoyle projects a map.
(10:15:32 PM) dkap: For Auricle, not beyond Auricle.
(10:16:03 PM) ***Auricle follows the map and does not get lost unless distracted.
(10:16:24 PM) dkap: There is distraction, but every time there is Gargoyle flashes minions and then flashes back to the map.
(10:18:37 PM) Auricle: (Wow, the gargoyle really wants me on track)
(10:18:43 PM) dkap: You reach your lab with very little distraction.
(10:18:46 PM) Auricle: (Normally it lets me wander a lot more)
(10:18:48 PM) dkap: There is noise inside.
(10:19:04 PM) Auricle: GM: Good noise or bad noise?
(10:20:43 PM) dkap: Lab-type noise. But not explosive, nor parade type noise.
(10:21:23 PM) Auricle: Oh, well, then , go on inside and investigate.
(10:21:53 PM) dkap: The door is locked.
(10:22:38 PM) dkap: Some sort of coded lock, with biometrics.
(10:22:44 PM) dkap: It wasn't here when you were here last.
(10:23:37 PM) dkap: It looks like Chef D has beaten the goo he created. At least, there are cooked? bits of it that smell like really _really_ good bread.
(10:23:43 PM) ***Auricle frowns.
(10:24:10 PM) Auricle: examine the lock more closely.
(10:24:18 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: Do we know a hack for this?
(10:24:47 PM) dkap: Gargoyle points out that it is the same brand name as some of the equipment in your old lab.
(10:24:58 PM) dkap: But Gargoyle has not seen this type of lock before.
(10:25:44 PM) Auricle: "A puzzle. And I know a solution."
(10:25:47 PM) ***Auricle knocks on the door.
(10:26:01 PM) ***Auricle looks completely bemused.
(10:27:08 PM) dkap: After a few moments, a squawky box emits a voice that could be telling you to wait a moment, and someone will be with you, or might have just told you the shirt-sizes of the leaders of the city-state of Ar.
(10:27:15 PM) dkap: It's hard to tell.
(10:27:28 PM) Jean: gm: out of curiousity, am I inside a building that someone just knocked on?
(10:27:32 PM) Jean: in a place that seems Amberish?
(10:28:24 PM) dkap: You are inside many buildings in places that seem Amberish, but, you hadn't noticed anyone knocking on doors recently. Not that they haven't, just ... that you haven't noticed.
(10:29:30 PM) ***Auricle is willing to wait a moment or three.
(10:29:30 PM) dkap: After a few more moments, someone comes around the corner, in a hurry.
(10:30:27 PM) dkap: Flings themself to the ground, in an abject position, in front of Auricle, and apologizes greatly for the necessity of the lock, but the Jager just keep breaking the other ones.
(10:30:52 PM) dkap: (is themself a word?)
(10:31:02 PM) dkap: (It doesn't look right.)
(10:31:02 PM) Auricle: (I think so)
(10:31:08 PM) dkap: (Good good)
(10:31:10 PM) Auricle: (Themselves?)
(10:31:18 PM) dkap: (that might be more right.)
(10:31:29 PM) Auricle: GM: Do I know them?
(10:31:44 PM) dkap: Hard to tell from this position. Probably male, but ... not definitely.
(10:31:56 PM) dkap: Wearing a lab coat, over what appear to be scrubs.
(10:31:58 PM) Auricle: (That describes me in reverse.)
(10:32:08 PM) Auricle: "Stand up, please."
(10:32:26 PM) Auricle: "Jagers break things, I do understand. It's part of what they are good at."
(10:33:19 PM) dkap: The individual stands up, and you can see a trapped paisley sewn as a patch on the pocket of both the scrubs and the lab coat. The name stitched to the lab coat reads "Jon".
(10:33:59 PM) dkap: Jon says: "As soon as we get you inside, we can get you into the system, and then the door will work for you, too.
(10:34:55 PM) Auricle: "Right then."
(10:35:46 PM) dkap: Jon winces a bit in anticipation: "Unfortunately the Jager have to stay here ... they _really_ break things. All sorts of equipment goes haywire around them. They don't even have to be touching it."
(10:36:07 PM) Auricle: (Er, is Jean pronounced jeen or jon? Just so I know how confused Auricle will eventually get?)
(10:36:18 PM) ***Auricle looks back at her Jagers.
(10:36:32 PM) dkap: Jhan. which is quite close to Jon.
(10:36:45 PM) Auricle: (Okay.)
(10:36:53 PM) Jean: (what he said)
(10:37:09 PM) Auricle: "The Jagers don't like to let me out of their sight."
(10:37:26 PM) dkap: Jon: I was afraid you would say that.
(10:37:34 PM) Auricle: "How many entrances and exits to the building?
(10:37:44 PM) dkap: Just this one.
(10:37:57 PM) Auricle: GM: Do I recognize Jon or not?
(10:38:15 PM) dkap: You have vague memories of someone looking somewhat like him.
(10:38:34 PM) dkap: You think he was one of your lower lab assistants, maybe.
(10:38:58 PM) dkap: But the paisley is _very_ familiar.
(10:39:17 PM) dkap: Although it seems strange that it isn't swimming free.
(10:40:23 PM) ***Auricle touch the paisely on his lab coat.
(10:40:43 PM) dkap: It matches the paisley that swims to your fingertips.
(10:40:43 PM) Auricle: "Why isn't it loose?"
(10:41:17 PM) dkap: Jon: "Umm ... because we haven't yet figured out how you _do_ that.
(10:41:54 PM) ***Auricle takes the paisley off her fingertips and hands it to him.
(10:42:03 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: We have records of him?
(10:42:10 PM) dkap: It desperately swims back through the air to you.
(10:42:34 PM) ***Auricle takes her paisley back, and steps backwards, suddenly wary.
(10:42:40 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: "He seems to match at least one of the familial lines we have employed."
(10:42:56 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: The paisley doesn't like him.
(10:43:31 PM) Auricle: "Open the door."
(10:43:33 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: "Your paisleys never do."
(10:44:54 PM) dkap: Jon goes over to the door, sticks a hand in one spot, sticks his head in another (which has a plate at the top of it, which would knock off any hat being worn) and blinks a pattern at the same time moving his fingers in a certain way, and saying a strange, disconnected sentence.
(10:45:41 PM) dkap: The door opens.
(10:46:18 PM) dkap: He goes in, leaving it open, presuming that you would follow.
(10:46:19 PM) ***Auricle looks at her Jagers.
(10:46:43 PM) dkap: They sort of shrug. There is now about 15 or 20 of them.
(10:47:09 PM) Auricle: "Jean? Can you set up some sort of magic field to dampen whatever the Jagers do to the experiments?"
(10:47:11 PM) dkap: (They collected, in case you needed them to run errands, or, better yet, knock over more buildings for you.)
(10:48:42 PM) Jean: "Probably not. Maybe you should only bring one or two?"
(10:48:54 PM) Jean: "Really, they're going to have to jagerproof their experiments sooner or later."
(10:49:12 PM) Auricle: "Truth."
(10:49:41 PM) ***Auricle looks over the Jagers again, and picks the two with the best hats....which means anything with paisley or bright shiny things.
(10:50:09 PM) dkap: Lots of choices, they have ... well ... your taste in hats.
(10:50:33 PM) Auricle: That one and that one.
(10:51:12 PM) dkap: The rest look somewhat crest-fallen, but decide that they will get some more of them together, and circle the building, so if you need help, the can smash through the nearest wall, and don't have to worry about looking that far for you.
(10:51:38 PM) ***Auricle leads two Jagers, Jean, Pip, and D into the building.
(10:53:02 PM) dkap: Chef D has shared some of his bread-bits with some of the other Jager, and is carrying the rest of them on a collapsible tray that, under other circumstances, you would love to investigate how it gets to be so big, and solid from the space it collapses down to.
(10:53:50 PM) dkap: Pip (wisely) leaves his cart outside, but inside the ring of Jager, and asks them (politely) if they could make sure nothing happens to the stuff on the cart, or the cart, because they belong to you.
(10:54:45 PM) dkap: Right inside the entrance-way is a hat-shelf with some pretty impressive hats on it, and a big sign that reads "Hat Free Zone. Take off your hat and store it here, before proceeding."
(10:55:24 PM) dkap: Horse will follow Jean in, if Jean goes in.
(10:55:40 PM) Jean: Jean goes in, and rolls his eyes at the sign.
(10:57:04 PM) dkap: The two Jager are confiring, and decide that since it's commonly known that Jager don't know how to read, the sign couldn't possibly apply to them, but ... those are some really impressive hats, and wander over to look at them, casual-like, as if there wasn't a chance in the world that one of their hats might get swapped for one of those.
(10:57:45 PM) Jean: gm: is there a chance that Jean could have a word with Auricle with Jon overhearing?
(10:57:52 PM) dkap: Jon is inside, his head in some machine, doing something, when the woman you had as your lab second in command (and matches Gargoyles scan of her) approaches you.
(10:58:33 PM) dkap: Probably, but there wasn't much of a time-gap, you would have time for a word, or maybe two, before the young lady was bowing to Auricle.
(10:58:53 PM) Auricle: GM: Eek? her name? (And hey, couldn't he just talk through the gargoyle at me?)
(10:59:06 PM) Jean: sotto voce: "You know this is a trap, right?"
(10:59:07 PM) ***Auricle claps her hands and then hugs her.
(10:59:43 PM) dkap: You know her name (and I have it written down somewhere ... so I should know it, but I can't find it at the moment ... *sigh* I have _got_ to make a better filing system.)
(10:59:45 PM) Jean: or a sufficient subset aside, just enough time taken so that Auricle can't respond without being overheard. ;)
(11:01:07 PM) dkap: She steps back and begins with apologizing for not having everything back the way you expect it, and on-line, but she and her staff just got there a little over 2 days ago, and had to fumigate the place, because those Jager were _everywhere_.
(11:02:35 PM) dkap: She points to a uplink port, and suggests that Gargoyle uplinks whatever key Gargoyle thinks is secure enough so you won't be locked out in the future, and have to be rescued by someone who was still in the dorm building.
(11:03:10 PM) ***Auricle turns to Jean.
(11:03:20 PM) Auricle: "How safe is the uplink port?"
(11:03:42 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: energy readings in the building? can we get some scans in here, see what's going on?
(11:04:04 PM) dkap: Gargoyle points out that it's one of the ones that he and you built, she must have been carrying it around with her, or rescued it from the old lab, which means, she might have the backup files and the records.
(11:04:51 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: The old labs were destroyed. By us, if I recall correctly, in order to destroy...you know. The Bitch.
(11:05:13 PM) dkap: Lots of electrical, electro-magnetic, and the like going on. Some of the power signatures match some of the old experiments that were running.
(11:05:41 PM) dkap: By you, in the fight, but you managed to hold The Bitch long enough for most of your people to get clear, and they took equipment with them, and their notes.
(11:05:53 PM) Auricle: GM: Nod. Okay.
(11:06:09 PM) dkap: Otherwise, you wouldn't have asked for them to be able to be reassembled.
(11:06:41 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: Do I have genetic records for my people?
(11:06:48 PM) Auricle: er, that should be GM.
(11:06:55 PM) Auricle: Which is roughly the same thing.
(11:07:30 PM) dkap: You have all sorts of records ... genetics didn't always work though (because of shadow differences, if you remember you had 15 or so identical labs, and wandered between them, and had mostly identical staff ...)
(11:08:49 PM) dkap: And, since you often went through lab techs quickly, whole families were very proud of the fact that their family lines were chosen to be able to work in the lab, and carefully trained so that you wouldn't really notice when one passed on, due to a failed experiment, and was replaced by a brother, niece, uncle or child.
(11:09:18 PM) dkap: Jon is, apparently, from one of those families.
(11:10:19 PM) Auricle: "Jean? Can you talk to the uplink port and make sure it's all right?"
(11:10:30 PM) Auricle: to the woman: Why didn't you try and find me?
(11:10:34 PM) Jean: gm: can I communicate with the uplink port?
(11:13:58 PM) dkap: It is not actually unalive. simply electronic. You might be able to bud into it, though ... might ...
(11:14:58 PM) Jean: I think it's a trap, though. ;)
(11:15:06 PM) Jean: is there anything unalive in the vicinity?
(11:15:09 PM) Jean: other than Horse?
(11:15:27 PM) Jean: actually, is Horse aware of anything that it was programmed to warn its rider about?
(11:16:07 PM) Auricle: (Gargoyles unalive.)
(11:16:19 PM) Jean: (true, Gargoyle)
(11:16:53 PM) dkap: Found it. Arachne.
(11:16:58 PM) dkap: (her name.
(11:17:26 PM) dkap: Actually Gargoyle is alive.
(11:17:34 PM) dkap: On the "unalive" scale.
(11:18:54 PM) dkap: Arachne says: We did try to find you. The labs were devastated by the winged enemy we were fleeing, and, well, there was nothing left. We left a note, and went into hiding.
(11:19:29 PM) dkap: Horse points out that just about _everything_ here he was programmed to warn his rider about.
(11:19:53 PM) Jean: typical.
(11:20:12 PM) Jean: gm: any of the unalive things regarding me with malign intent?
(11:20:12 PM) Auricle: "And ended up in the Courts of Chaos?"
(11:21:37 PM) dkap: There was this ... incident, with a crazy scientist ... His name was Mr. Eagleton or something.
(11:21:41 PM) dkap: Things went downhill.
(11:22:23 PM) dkap: Arachne: So we got rescued, because everything was going away.
(11:22:41 PM) Auricle: "Well, I'm glad someone rescued you."
(11:22:46 PM) dkap: Arachne: There was a tie to a house in chaos, called "Moondark" I think.
(11:22:58 PM) Auricle: "Moondark?"
(11:23:25 PM) ***Auricle looks blankly at Jean.
(11:23:32 PM) dkap: Arachne: We were told to stay in our suite of rooms, and not to come out, otherwise there might be problems, and the protection didn't extend to dealing with those problems.
(11:23:59 PM) dkap: Oh, and the food there was ... umm ... mostly unpalatable, but we built a conversion device, and mostly lived off of that.
(11:24:52 PM) Jean: "Sounds like Moonlight. Caelin's house."
(11:24:54 PM) dkap: Arachne: Although, one of the techs seems to have been adopted by some of the free-range broccoli ... never mind. This is probably just babble to you. We are so glad to be back.
(11:25:31 PM) Auricle: "Moonlight! That matches what...um...what'shisname said, right?"
(11:25:51 PM) dkap: Arachne: We've got several new Anti-Winged-Woman weapons built and in the testing stage.
(11:26:21 PM) dkap: But ... the tests are fragile, that's why we were chasing the Jager away. They tend to ... give our tests anomolous results.
(11:26:58 PM) dkap: Arachne: It could have been Moonlight. It was said once, by ... our rescuer.
(11:28:34 PM) Auricle: "By...?
(11:30:16 PM) dkap: Arachne: They guy who rescued us, from or for Eagleton. I'm not sure which. He never gave us his name.
(11:31:35 PM) ***Auricle nods.
(11:31:42 PM) dkap: Arachne: But Eagleton seemed to know him.
(11:32:01 PM) Auricle: "Okay then. Let's see what we have here."
(11:32:15 PM) Auricle: OOC: Okay, I think it is time for bed, I'm getting a little faded out.
(11:32:37 PM) Jean: that sounds reasonable.
(11:32:40 PM) Jean: same time, two weeks?
(11:32:55 PM) dkap: Two weeks?
(11:33:02 PM) dkap: Will you miss next week?
(11:33:14 PM) dkap: Oh, right. Never mind. We all will miss next week.
(11:33:15 PM) dkap: *sigh*
(11:33:27 PM) dkap: Sometimes, I wonder about how my brain is supposed to work.
(11:33:56 PM) Jean left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving.).
(11:33:59 PM) dkap: But yes, this is a good place to hang.
(11:34:14 PM) dkap: As Jean seems to have discovered.
(11:34:16 PM) dkap: *grin*
(11:34:20 PM) Auricle: see you in two weeks!
(11:34:25 PM) dkap: See you in two!
(11:34:27 PM) Auricle left the room (quit: Quit: Chatzilla 0.9.77 [SeaMonkey 1.0.1/2006040400]).
