(8:00:39 PM) The topic for #dkap_amber is: Game as usual, logs at https://www.train-wreck.org/~dkap/Amber/logs wiki-wiki at: https://www.rebel.org/wiki/
(8:36:55 PM) Auricle: So, as Auricle, I've completely lost contact with Chef D, one Jager, and accidently blew Jean through the tower-trap, and now my reflecting pool is glowing blue.
(8:37:38 PM) dkap: Yep. But glowing blue in a a way that only you can see it.
(8:37:44 PM) Auricle: (I'd actually forgotten there was a Jean left in the tower room on the other side of the portal)
(8:37:54 PM) dkap: Yep, not surprising.
(8:38:06 PM) dkap: Also you know where Olim is, even though he isn't quite _here_.
(8:38:22 PM) Auricle: Right, Olim is in a barracks somewhere being kept busy.
(8:38:48 PM) dkap: Well ... unconscious at the moment, but hopefully will be occupied.
(8:38:51 PM) Auricle: Okay, so, glowing blue pool.
(8:38:55 PM) dkap: Right.
(8:39:17 PM) Auricle: What are the sides of the pool made out of?
(8:39:24 PM) dkap: Stone.
(8:39:39 PM) dkap: Same stone as the Moon Temple above, in fact.
(8:39:50 PM) Auricle: Is it special stone? Ah, I'd wondered.
(8:39:53 PM) dkap: Which is neither translucent nor blue.
(8:40:12 PM) Auricle: But the Pattern above is inscribed on it, yes?
(8:42:04 PM) dkap: Yep. The entire temple is made from this stone, as if it were hune out of the raw rock, no joints, no mortar, just one large hunk of rock. Just like the reflecting pool.
(8:42:28 PM) Auricle: So there could be some resonance from something going on with the Pattern?
(8:42:44 PM) dkap: Sure, that's a valid conclusion.
(8:44:27 PM) Auricle: Or it could just be the Pattern forming in the pool.
(8:44:42 PM) Auricle: Although if it forms underwater on the *walls* people will not be pleased.
(8:44:44 PM) dkap: Indeed, it could be.
(8:45:11 PM) dkap: As opposed to floating on the surface, which would be even _harder_ to walk?
(8:45:28 PM) Auricle: Actually, I'd been hoping for underwater on the floor.
(8:47:05 PM) dkap: Of course, if it is on the surface of the water, and the pool refills itself, as it is doing now, one would have to come up with a really canny way to keep the water level just right, so that the pattern was still reflected in the thin film of water on the bottom of the pool, as they tried to walk it.
(8:47:20 PM) dkap: Not, mind you, that I've given this much thought ... *grin*
(8:47:28 PM) Auricle: Well, that's a good question; was the gargoyle able to see/sense/observe when I drew the Pattern the last time?
(8:47:55 PM) Auricle: (More than me, I thought, 'ooh, pretty' and figured it would work itself out. It shouldn't be EASY to walk it.)
(8:48:39 PM) dkap: Nope. Too much power to track. It was overloaded.
(8:51:10 PM) Auricle: Hmmm.
(8:51:45 PM) Auricle: Okay, I've play with the water, what happens if I touch the stone walls?
(8:53:02 PM) dkap: They are cold to the touch. Like a trump-card cold.
(8:53:11 PM) Auricle: Exciting!
(8:53:34 PM) Auricle: No idea what it means, but, exciting!
(8:53:47 PM) dkap: *grin*
(8:54:34 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: Dworkin is in the temple trying to re-establish trump, correct?
(8:56:29 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: Last such was known, yes.
(8:57:17 PM) Auricle: shift to bird and fly up to temple to see if Dworkin's still there.
(9:02:39 PM) dkap: Your bird form seems to be caught in Zeno's paradox.
(9:03:51 PM) Auricle: *I* can't get to the Pattern??
(9:04:44 PM) ***Auricle can't comprehend it; the thought is completely alien.
(9:05:12 PM) dkap: It's not that you can't get to the pattern, you just can't seem to get closer to the temple.
(9:05:25 PM) Auricle: The Pattern is in the Temple.
(9:08:48 PM) dkap: It is.
(9:09:22 PM) Auricle: Okay, first, assume this is just some perception thing and disbelieve.
(9:09:32 PM) Auricle: I barely believe it anyways, so that shouldn't be hard.
(9:09:50 PM) dkap: You disbelieve, but the temple is not getting any closer.
(9:10:18 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: Perhaps this is one of the defences that Dworkin said he was going to set up?
(9:14:04 PM) Auricle: Against me?
(9:14:19 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: He might not have all the bugs worked out of it, yet.
(9:14:33 PM) Auricle: That...would fit known parameters.
(9:14:56 PM) Auricle: land.
(9:15:26 PM) dkap: You find that the farther away you fly from the Temple now, the closer you get.
(9:15:35 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: Really buggy defences.
(9:16:41 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: Indeed.
(9:16:58 PM) Auricle: FLy as far as I need to , in order to land on the temple or the ground.
(9:17:49 PM) dkap: You land on the temple, after not too long a further flight.
(9:18:56 PM) Auricle: First, scan for new defences.
(9:19:20 PM) dkap: How?
(9:19:40 PM) dkap: There is a bunch of random-seeming equipment scattered about where you landed ...
(9:20:33 PM) dkap: And lots of olives.
(9:21:17 PM) dkap: Lots and lots of olives, but the number seems, somewhat indetermanant, because some keep popping in and out of existance.
(9:21:47 PM) Auricle: Right.
(9:22:02 PM) Auricle: Attempt to avoid olives as could be grey spheres in disguise.
(9:23:16 PM) dkap: Not too much of a problem. They seem to only pop in and out of existence in their clustered areas. As if their numbers and positions were influencing their existence.
(9:27:07 PM) dkap: There is a whirring noise that just started coming out of one of the pieces of equipment.
(9:27:43 PM) Auricle: "DWORKIN!"
(9:28:21 PM) dkap: Your voice echos all over the temple ... there is a ... pause, and all the olives disappear.
(9:28:27 PM) dkap: With an audible pop.
(9:29:48 PM) Auricle: head towards the pattern
(9:31:04 PM) dkap: Dworkin's disembodied voice, from almost right next to you: "Ahh Auricle. You have chosen a ... most unfortunate time to wander by."
(9:32:08 PM) dkap: D'sdv: "I'm afraid the defences are ... not exactly in working order."
(9:32:17 PM) Auricle: "I noticed."
(9:32:49 PM) Auricle: "However, the reflecting pool walls have gone as cold as trump used to be."
(9:33:13 PM) dkap: D'sdv: "Interesting ... that might be a side-effect. I doubt it, but it might be."
(9:33:24 PM) Auricle: "And it's glowing blue that only I can see."
(9:35:23 PM) dkap: D'sdv: "That's ... umm ... interesting. Do you feel any ... particular difference in the pattern-flow? It might be pouring energy down there, and that might be causing a reasonation."
(9:36:18 PM) Auricle: "There was a LOT of energy being poured down there, and I theorized there might be a resonance, too. Hence coming here to check on the Pattern itself."
(9:38:28 PM) dkap: D'sdv: "Ahh ... that might explain the ... hrm ... no ... that wouldn't ..."
(9:38:46 PM) dkap: D'sdv: "You didn't do something like forge a connection, did you?"
(9:41:03 PM) ***Auricle frowns.
(9:42:03 PM) Auricle: "I ... might have....maybe. I was simply near the pool, and pulled up a pattern lens to find Chef D, and instead it turned the pool into a portal. I closed the portal eventually, after we sorta rescued Chef D by setting him loose in shadow, and then the pool started to refill and glow.
(9:45:07 PM) dkap: There is a wet, sort of sound, like the sound an organ makes when accidentally dropped off the organ tray during a vivisection.
(9:45:30 PM) Auricle: "Not good?"
(9:46:01 PM) arkhonII [~arkhon@pool-72-93-81-101.bstnma.fios.verizon.net] entered the room.
(9:46:10 PM) arkhonII: Here now.
(9:46:37 PM) dkap: No voice in response.
(9:47:39 PM) dkap: Ahh, Caelin! Good to see you.
(9:47:47 PM) ***arkhonII nods.
(9:48:16 PM) dkap: Auricle is ... dealing with a strange situation on the pattern, and Sam is traveling to Canada, so ...
(9:48:25 PM) dkap: She has been under the fire-hose the whole time.
(9:48:38 PM) Auricle: Because what we really needed was a strange situation with the new Pattern.
(9:48:43 PM) arkhonII: LOL
(9:48:45 PM) Auricle: Hi Caelin!
(9:48:49 PM) arkhonII: Hiya!
(9:48:55 PM) arkhonII: Finally on the right coast!
(9:48:59 PM) Auricle: yay!
(9:50:10 PM) Auricle: HAving not been told otherwise...I will go to the Pattern.
(9:50:27 PM) dkap: You head to the pattern.
(9:51:13 PM) dkap: It is there, just as you left it. Sitting quietly, amongst the fountains and the grove.
(9:52:24 PM) dkap: There is a scorched spot not far from one of the sides of the pattern, and, it seems, a hoof-mark right before the beginning of it.
(9:52:44 PM) ***arkhonII (snort)
(9:53:01 PM) ***Auricle frowns.
(9:53:32 PM) Auricle: Intruders? Did Dworkin disable my own defenses on the place when putting in his own stuff?
(9:53:38 PM) dkap: And there is a slight smell of stale hay in the air.
(9:54:12 PM) dkap: Your own defenses seem to still be in place. And it's Dworkin's signature on the scorched spot.
(9:56:39 PM) Auricle: Okay, then, his defenses came into play.
(9:57:21 PM) dkap: There is, twined along some of the columns, the pulsating form of Wixer the second.
(9:57:31 PM) dkap: (Or, perhaps, third at this point.)
(9:57:39 PM) Auricle: "Hey Wixer."
(9:58:17 PM) dkap: A head-piece orients in your direction and opens an eyestalk or nine.
(9:58:37 PM) Auricle: "Anything I should know?"
(9:58:47 PM) dkap: (Now, I have the image of someone saying "Hey Wixer" and wixer-modules bursting through the wall saying "Oh yeah!")
(9:59:14 PM) arkhonII: (ROTFLMFAO)
(9:59:23 PM) Auricle: (OMGLOL)
(9:59:29 PM) arkhonII: (Wixer 2.0 as CoolAid Man)
(9:59:49 PM) dkap: Wixer pulsates a bit, so as to convey a shrug of the shoulders.
(9:59:59 PM) Auricle: Right.
(10:00:09 PM) Auricle: Focus on the Pattern, how's it doing?
(10:00:19 PM) dkap: Happy and full of energy. It wants to be walked.
(10:00:24 PM) Auricle: Acting normal, acting weirdly, feel different?
(10:00:43 PM) dkap: It feels more ... energetic, since the last time you were here.
(10:01:24 PM) Auricle: cool
(10:01:35 PM) Auricle: does it recognize me?
(10:02:14 PM) dkap: Yes. It didn't attack you, and your orders were to attack anyone but yourself or Dworkin.
(10:02:23 PM) Auricle: good
(10:02:34 PM) Auricle: long as I'm here, powerup, walk the pattern
(10:03:00 PM) Auricle: there's that moment of hesitation, wondering if it will drink me, or not.
(10:03:27 PM) dkap: You walk over to the start of the pattern, and as you pass near the hoofprint, you hear ... well ... almost like a musical warning note ...
(10:03:47 PM) Auricle: pause.
(10:03:56 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle?
(10:04:40 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: "Major energy shift, eminating from hoof-print. Resonating with grove."
(10:04:47 PM) Auricle: Grove?
(10:05:14 PM) dkap: Grove is off to the back-left of the start of the pattern, if you are facing the pattern and about to walk it.
(10:06:14 PM) dkap: There are fountains on either side of it, flowing into it, and other fountains about.
(10:06:23 PM) Auricle: "It's resonating to the grove of the temple??"
(10:06:30 PM) ***Auricle looks confused.
(10:06:42 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: "Affirmative."
(10:06:44 PM) Auricle: go peer in the grove.
(10:07:17 PM) dkap: The grove ... well ... gives you the impression that it is peering back, into you.
(10:07:25 PM) dkap: There is a slight nickering sound from within.
(10:08:10 PM) Auricle: "Hello?"
(10:09:10 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle: Scan the grove/
(10:09:59 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: "There is a pattern-esq interference with being able to penetrate the grove. It seems to be very real, and, perhaps, old-lordish in flavour.
(10:10:56 PM) Auricle: "Very well. LEt's go be polite."
(10:11:02 PM) Auricle: Enter the grove.
(10:11:25 PM) dkap: Somewhere, Omega trembles because The Auricle Has Entered The Grove of the Unicorn.
(10:12:00 PM) dkap: It's a lovely little grove ... very ... comforting, but also, very ... large in that whole sort of folded dimension way.
(10:12:17 PM) arkhonII: (Somewhere, Mike feels a disturbance in the force. Rather, ANOTHER disturbance in the force)
(10:12:20 PM) dkap: The streams of water from the fountains seem to lead inward.
(10:12:48 PM) dkap: Not so much of a disturbance, as an amplification.
(10:12:48 PM) Auricle: (Oh dear)
(10:13:16 PM) Auricle: (Where's Zach when I need him?)
(10:13:46 PM) dkap: Amber^H^H^H^H^HGreater Arden.
(10:13:52 PM) Auricle: "Hello?"
(10:14:13 PM) arkhonII: (???)
(10:14:18 PM) ***Auricle is trying to find the source of the nickering.
(10:15:00 PM) dkap: A small rabbit hops up to you, looks at you with no fear in it's eyes, just curiosity, and then hops inward, toward where the streams of water must be pooling, or spilling over, or something.
(10:15:23 PM) Auricle: follow the rabbit. Or the streams. take your pick.
(10:16:20 PM) dkap: You get to a lovely pool, and, somehow, along your path, the streams have joined and reversed their flow, without you noticing. The rabbit is drinking from the pool. There are hoof-prints all around the pool.
(10:17:01 PM) arkhonII: (RABBIT?!)
(10:17:31 PM) dkap: There is a small mayan-esqu sculpture, sitting next to the pool, stuck in some mud there.
(10:18:14 PM) dkap: The rabbit hops over to an inverted striped soft top-hat, and hops inside.
(10:18:35 PM) Auricle: That part, I do not follow.
(10:18:59 PM) Auricle: Not that I *couldn't* -- shapeshifter has options, after all -- but don't.
(10:19:06 PM) Auricle: Same hoof-prints as by the Pattern?
(10:19:22 PM) dkap: Same hoof-prints.
(10:19:36 PM) dkap: Just without the resonating music.
(10:21:38 PM) Auricle: "Well, this is a very nice grove....but I have no idea what I'm doing here."
(10:21:56 PM) Auricle: Gargoyle, can you scan it now?
(10:22:03 PM) dkap: The mayan sculpture does not answer you.
(10:22:27 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: "Inputs overloaded. Information simply being stored for parsing later."
(10:22:41 PM) Auricle: "Oh dear."
(10:23:16 PM) Auricle: begin retracing steps. I don't like the word "overload" with the Gargoyle.
(10:24:44 PM) dkap: Gargoyle shows you the path, it's ... non obvious.
(10:25:33 PM) Auricle: Follow the path
(10:25:54 PM) dkap: You end up leaving the grove with no mishap.
(10:26:20 PM) Auricle: Everything out here seem normal?
(10:26:34 PM) dkap: Well ... the same as you left it, I don't know how "normal" that is.
(10:26:40 PM) dkap: Except, the Unicorn is there.
(10:26:52 PM) Auricle: Eek.
(10:26:58 PM) Auricle: Bow
(10:27:39 PM) dkap: In your head, you hear "Welcome to my Grove, Master of the Pattern."
(10:28:35 PM) Auricle: "I... Thank you, it's a very pretty grove."
(10:29:15 PM) ***Auricle has no idea what one says to the Unicorn.
(10:29:15 PM) dkap: The unicorn snorts, almost as if it is laughing. Again, in your head "I have heard it called many things ... pretty is new."
(10:30:21 PM) ***Auricle grins.
(10:31:01 PM) Auricle: "Well, it is."
(10:31:59 PM) dkap: Unicorn, in your head: "Who am I to argue with the Master of the Pattern, pretty it is."
(10:32:04 PM) Auricle: "Although I'm not sure why it's here....Or you. Did you want something? Can I get you something? Did I forget something?"
(10:33:49 PM) dkap: Unicorn: "It is the pattern. I, therefore, am here."
(10:35:48 PM) ***Auricle looks thoughtful.
(10:38:00 PM) Auricle: "I hope you like the new Pattern, and it's Temple."
(10:38:53 PM) dkap: Unicorn: "It will have to do."
(10:40:05 PM) Auricle: "We are upgrading the security."
(10:40:17 PM) Auricle: "At least, I think so; Dworkin went silent."
(10:41:04 PM) dkap: Unicorn pauses a moment, waves his horn, and then Dworkin is pulled out of the spaces between.
(10:43:06 PM) ***Auricle hadn't quite expected that.
(10:43:11 PM) dkap: Dworkin: "Thanks, that was getting ... uncomfortable."
(10:43:36 PM) Auricle: "What had you managed to do, Dworkin?"
(10:43:58 PM) dkap: Dworkin: "Umm ... I'm not entirely sure."
(10:44:56 PM) dkap: Dworkin: "But, thank you, anyway."
(10:45:23 PM) Auricle: "Thank the Unicorn; I'm not the one who freed you."
(10:47:32 PM) dkap: Dworkin bows to the unicorn. The subtilties of it, include the hint of lover, but I'm not sure that Auricle would notice that.
(10:48:18 PM) Auricle: (I'm not sure Auricle has a sense of lover other than in reference to Zach and the words EWW)
(10:48:43 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(10:50:35 PM) Auricle: to the Unicorn: "Excuse me a moment" to Dworkin: "You were worried I'd created a ...um...connection?"
(10:52:47 PM) dkap: Dworkin: Yes, indeed.
(10:53:07 PM) dkap: Dworkin: And then I tried to verify such, and ... things turned unfortunate.
(10:54:07 PM) Auricle: "Um, explain such, instead of trying to verify?"
(10:56:28 PM) dkap: A moment ...
(10:58:47 PM) dkap: Sorry, the GM is sometimes human.
(10:59:31 PM) Auricle: as are players
(10:59:38 PM) Auricle: speaking of which, I should actually go to sleep
(10:59:42 PM) Auricle: Am tired Auricle.
(11:00:05 PM) arkhonII: Heh
(11:00:16 PM) dkap: Right then ... Shall we let Auricle rest at the confrontation of Dworkin, the Unicorn, and the Pattern?
(11:00:25 PM) Auricle: I think so.
(11:00:32 PM) Auricle: Night folks!
(11:00:35 PM) dkap: Mike have you got the spare cycles to continue, or are you beat as well?
(11:00:45 PM) arkhonII: Plenty of spare cycles.
(11:01:10 PM) Auricle left the room (quit: Quit: Chatzilla 0.9.77 [SeaMonkey 1.0.1/2006040400]).
(11:01:27 PM) dkap: Ahh ... excellent.
(11:01:35 PM) dkap: I believe I left you just waking up, under the tree?
(11:01:40 PM) dkap: Or did we get further than that?
(11:01:52 PM) arkhonII: Already awake, and trying to figure out the level of damage.
(11:02:31 PM) arkhonII: We know that it was a bibliomantic token, that Caelin is nearly empty, and that he evidently tried to reach beyond this piece of fruit.
(11:05:03 PM) dkap: Yep.
(11:05:58 PM) dkap: Well ... that piece of fruit, the bibliomantic token took them out of it.
(11:06:40 PM) dkap: And (hopefully) (at least the plan was) to take the other party out of it, as well.
(11:06:43 PM) arkhonII: Does said piece of fruit still exist?
(11:06:47 PM) arkhonII: Oh dear.
(11:06:53 PM) dkap: But you haven't seen hide nor hair of them.
(11:07:36 PM) ***arkhonII does a quick search for power sources here, wherever here is.
(11:08:54 PM) dkap: Well ... if you were a Jedi, you would be fine.
(11:08:58 PM) dkap: Lots of life.
(11:09:06 PM) dkap: Beyond that? Pretty much bupkis.
(11:09:24 PM) ***arkhonII sighs.
(11:09:42 PM) arkhonII: "Dearest? I'm thinking we may be stuck here."
(11:09:52 PM) arkhonII: "Wait, no...the token brought us here, right?"
(11:10:08 PM) dkap: Natasha: "Darling, I can walk us away, provided we have some idea where we wish to go."
(11:10:36 PM) arkhonII: Well, do you remember the hidey hole?
(11:11:34 PM) dkap: Natasha: The one in the council chamber, or the one in Darkover, past the council chamber?
(11:12:10 PM) arkhonII: Darkover.
(11:12:19 PM) arkhonII: "Most definitely NOT the council chamber"
(11:12:45 PM) dkap: Natasha: Right ... really long walk. Oh well. I did want some exercise.
(11:13:06 PM) arkhonII: Well, we don't need to hellride or anything.
(11:13:45 PM) dkap: Natasha: I can't "hellride" I've been told all I can do is "royal way" it.
(11:13:58 PM) arkhonII: Huh?
(11:14:19 PM) arkhonII: Well, if I turned into a Yeti and ran us there, could you make it faster?
(11:14:49 PM) dkap: Natasha: "It's not so much a matter of speed, but a matter of ... well ... changing things."
(11:15:15 PM) arkhonII: "I know, dear. I too have Pattern. I just tend not to use it as much as I used to."
(11:16:04 PM) dkap: Natasha: "Especially, since it's now the wrong pattern? I'll be fractal-walking it, because I don't have this pattern either."
(11:16:18 PM) arkhonII: "Hrm...good point."
(11:18:34 PM) arkhonII: "Well, shall we get to it then?"
(11:19:40 PM) dkap: Natasha: We shall, take my hand, my dear, and step as I do.
(11:19:55 PM) ***arkhonII takes Natasha's hand.
(11:20:43 PM) dkap: And, hand, in hand, you, letting her lead, so her stuff is in the fore, begins an epic cross-shadow journey.
(11:21:07 PM) arkhonII: (*gulp* epic??)
(11:21:28 PM) dkap: Almost as soon as you have exited the shadow, though, behind you, almost in the same spot you were ... there is a popping noise, as the rest of the folk show up, in your wake, completely unbeknowst to you or to them.
(11:21:51 PM) arkhonII: (Which folk)
(11:21:54 PM) arkhonII: (?)
(11:22:43 PM) dkap: Chef D and company.
(11:22:58 PM) arkhonII: Ahh
(11:26:47 PM) dkap: So ... step by step, you are crossing the landscape, sometimes at odd angles, in odd ways, things begin to change, the trees become a grove, and then a stylized wooden gate at the edge of a grove.
(11:27:18 PM) dkap: Through the gate, into the yard of a manor house, where those working in the fields look upon you with confusion and fear.
(11:28:16 PM) ***arkhonII sighs and walks on.
(11:29:35 PM) dkap: A bowman appears on the wall, shouts a name that sounds vaguely like "Mikail" and looses and arrow, but the arrow becomes a bird in flight and the wall, a hillock behind you.
(11:30:09 PM) ***arkhonII smacks his forehead with his free hand, but keeps on walking with his fiance.
(11:31:00 PM) dkap: The sound of water starts to grow in the distance, first a murmuring brook, then a bubbling stream, then a roaring river, then the pound of the ocean side, as you come across a hill and come down a dune.
(11:32:11 PM) arkhonII: "Why does everybody mistake you for their arch enemy?"
(11:32:13 PM) dkap: As a bark comes to shore ... empty, but with food, and sails, and oars ... with a faded eye painted on either side.
(11:32:20 PM) arkhonII: "Rather, ME?"
(11:33:07 PM) dkap: Natasha: Everyone? Just some, and, perhaps, it's the way of our travel. Having someone appear out of nowhere, that wasn't there a minute before, that's often how Mikail got around, right?
(11:33:32 PM) dkap: Natasha: Shall we take the, O so convenient boat?
(11:37:27 PM) dkap: Natasha begins to walk down toward the boat.
(11:37:42 PM) dkap: It ... tickles at your long-unused memories.
(11:38:53 PM) dkap: Did you time out?
(11:39:15 PM) arkhonII: OOPS
(11:39:35 PM) arkhonII: yes.
(11:39:44 PM) ***arkhonII follows.
(11:40:32 PM) dkap: The boat tickles at your long-unused memories.
(11:40:58 PM) ***arkhonII looks confused.
(11:41:59 PM) ***arkhonII "Do you have any memory of using this boat before, dear?"
(11:42:07 PM) arkhonII: (sorry...was fielding a phone call from mom)
(11:42:39 PM) dkap: Ahh ... Understood.
(11:42:54 PM) dkap: Natasha: No, but it was here, and it's convenient.
(11:43:17 PM) dkap: Natasha: It does look like a well-traveled boat. I wonder what happened to it's owner.
(11:43:19 PM) arkhonII: (what memories of mine are being triggered?)
(11:43:42 PM) dkap: Natasha: Those eyes, painted on the prow, as if it is looking for it's own way home.
(11:43:50 PM) dkap: Really old memories.
(11:44:19 PM) arkhonII: Prior to getting to this piece of fruit memories?
(11:44:44 PM) dkap: Yep.
(11:49:36 PM) arkhonII: "Dear, I find this place very...memory triggering."
(11:49:46 PM) dkap: Natasha steps toward the boat, the boat more firmly grounds itself, as if welcoming you aboard.
(11:49:47 PM) arkhonII: (What memories specifically, if any?"
(11:50:00 PM) dkap: You are not sure, but you think you have seen this boat before ...
(11:50:02 PM) ***arkhonII walks slowly towards the boat.
(11:50:56 PM) dkap: The words are written in an old script, but again, the hand seems ... familiar. And the language is, as well.
(11:51:03 PM) dkap: The word is "Lookfar"
(11:51:28 PM) arkhonII: Kind of Gontish?
(11:52:01 PM) dkap: Very much so.
(11:52:26 PM) arkhonII: Ahh
(11:52:31 PM) arkhonII: "Hrm.
(11:53:04 PM) arkhonII: "This boat may require...a mage wind."
(11:53:47 PM) arkhonII: "I'm not sure if I have enough power for such a thing, so we'll see if we can sail it regularly, and I'll hold what little power I have in reserve."
(11:53:54 PM) dkap: Natasha: "It seems hospitable, though ..."
(11:54:06 PM) arkhonII: "Yes. And remarkably familiar."
(11:54:43 PM) dkap: Natasha: Have you ridden in her before?
(11:55:01 PM) arkhonII: "I'm thinking I have, yes."
(11:55:19 PM) ***arkhonII steps into the boat, and offers his hand to Natasha.
(11:55:45 PM) dkap: Natasha: Then you will know her well, and we can sail, as if we were old friends, instead of just strangers, at a chance meeting.
(11:56:19 PM) ***arkhonII turns and looks at Natasha as though she was possessed.
(11:56:24 PM) dkap: Natasha climbs aboard as well, and the rock of the boat conspires to use the force of her propelling herself into the boat to launch into the water again.
(11:56:29 PM) arkhonII: "Were those...YOUR words?"
(11:57:09 PM) dkap: Natasha: No. Vialle. She was trying to teach me courtly manners, and, well, one of her phrases seemed very appropriate at the moment, so I used it.
(11:57:15 PM) dkap: Natasha: Doesn't suit me?
(11:57:44 PM) arkhonII: "I didn't say that."
(11:58:00 PM) arkhonII: "Just startling to hear words that I was certain weren't yours."
(11:58:32 PM) dkap: Natasha leans over and kisses you.
(11:58:41 PM) ***arkhonII smiles.
(11:58:42 PM) dkap: Natasha: Goof. I do adore you.
(11:58:57 PM) arkhonII: "I love you too, dear."
(12/24/2008 12:00:31 AM) dkap: Natasha takes a deep breath, and says: "Right. Sailing forward we go."
(12:02:32 AM) dkap: The lookfar's sails catch a barely-felt wind, and the shore rapidly recedes behind you.
(12:03:01 AM) dkap: And it's midnight ... I do have to get up for work tomorrow ... alas.
(12:03:15 AM) ***arkhonII watches, wondering what other memories might resurface.
(12:03:33 AM) dkap: Like, where you left Ged?
(12:03:43 AM) dkap: Sorry, Sparrowhawk?
(12:03:48 AM) arkhonII: Heh
(12:04:02 AM) arkhonII: You mean, where I found him?
(12:04:18 AM) arkhonII: I can't remember where I left him. Thought he was in house moonlight last.
(12:04:33 AM) dkap: He is/was.
(12:04:57 AM) arkhonII: Good.
(12:05:12 AM) arkhonII: So...isle of the dead?
(12:06:19 AM) arkhonII left the room.
