(09:00:31 PM) dkap: Am home now.
(09:01:15 PM) Cagliostro: yay team
(09:01:27 PM) Cagliostro: Caelin was around and just timed out a couple of minutes ago
(09:01:29 PM) dkap: *grin*
(09:01:47 PM) dkap: Mike is rehearsing, and Anise is unavailable. Have we heard from Gleep?
(09:02:18 PM) Cagliostro: not so far
(09:04:00 PM) dkap: So ... where did we leave the count, then?
(09:04:24 PM) Cagliostro: hm
(09:05:04 PM) Cagliostro: Cagliostro has sent two requests to Jodo:
(09:05:21 PM) Cagliostro: 1) that the information from various sources be summarized into transportable/reviewable form
(09:05:42 PM) Cagliostro: 2) that the redhead be given polite "The count is busy at the moment, please feel free to presume on his hospitality briefly" messages
(09:05:58 PM) dkap: The redhead was so served when she showed up.
(09:06:02 PM) Cagliostro: and was returning to work on the statue, which he felt comfortable doing after discovering the current time differential he was working with
(09:06:12 PM) Cagliostro: then Jodo has anticipated the count's desires, as per usual ;)
(09:06:16 PM) dkap: And said information was transported to you, nothing of big interest.
(09:06:30 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(09:06:51 PM) dkap: Are you doing anything extra to amp your calamity alarms?
(09:07:41 PM) Cagliostro: hm, Caelin's involved in my current project so I can't see a point
(09:07:46 PM) Cagliostro: anything that should be obvious?
(09:07:51 PM) Cagliostro: I'm definitely beign slow and careful
(09:07:56 PM) dkap: And are you going to ask your Ifrit to check in with those under Benedict's command, for any updates?
(09:08:04 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(09:08:16 PM) Cagliostro: because I'm considering this statue a trap for Caelin by someone who really really hates him
(09:08:20 PM) Cagliostro: which means it's off the scale of 'dangerous'
(09:08:22 PM) Cagliostro: I don't think so
(09:08:46 PM) Cagliostro: Cagliostro has delegated that pretty far down on his personal responsibility list
(09:09:05 PM) Cagliostro: he can tell that the whole 'fringe' thing needs to be monitored, and doesn't have a monitor, and he doesn't have time
(09:10:10 PM) dkap: You remember that Benedict moved to protecting Caelin?
(09:10:22 PM) Cagliostro: I do not believe that anyone ever told Cagliostro that.
(09:11:48 PM) Cagliostro: The Ifrit have not contacted Cagliostro for advice, etc.
(09:12:18 PM) Cagliostro: and the Ifrit with Cagliostro are letting him work on the statue relatively unbothered
(09:12:18 PM) Cagliostro: and he hasn't asked for any Jodo updates that extend outside the Darkover area
(09:13:05 PM) dkap: Actually, last active run, the Ifrit did brief Cagliostro on Caelin's state, just before his nap.
(09:13:38 PM) Cagliostro: really?
(09:14:04 PM) Cagliostro: can you point me toward a log? I don't recall that.
(09:14:30 PM) dkap: Umm .. a moment while I check for non-updated logs ...
(09:17:12 PM) Cagliostro: sorry, I don't have a log from then. I think I zoned then had connectivity issues.
(09:18:34 PM) Caelin [~arkhonii@m0e5e36d0.tmodns.net] entered the room.
(09:18:58 PM) Caelin: rehi
(09:19:24 PM) Caelin: sorry. being underground flubbed connection.
(09:21:55 PM) Cagliostro: s'all right. it happens.
(09:21:59 PM) Cagliostro: dkap is checking a log.
(09:22:09 PM) Cagliostro: (but he could go ahead and run Caelin if he so desired)
(09:22:10 PM) dkap: About 10:30 from the log on the third of Feb.
(09:22:44 PM) dkap: The link is in the topic
(09:22:53 PM) current topic is: Game as usual, logs at https://www.train-wreck.org/~dkap/Amber/logs wiki-wiki at: https://www.rebel.org/wiki/
(09:23:46 PM) Caelin: home now
(09:25:22 PM) dkap: Does that help?
(09:26:01 PM) Caelin: a moment.
(09:26:16 PM) Cagliostro: checking...
(09:26:18 PM) Caelin [~arkhon@pool-173-48-174-64.bstnma.fios.verizon.net] entered the room.
(09:26:50 PM) dkap: How are you both named Caelin?
(09:26:59 PM) Cagliostro: page load error, trying again
(09:27:01 PM) Caelin: The difference is that Gaim on X11 on the mac has an alert. IRC via G1 doesn't appear to have one.
(09:27:19 PM) Caelin left the room.
(09:27:31 PM) dkap: I mean, IRC should detect, and not allow the name collision.
(09:27:33 PM) Caelin: Now I'm here via Lappie
(09:27:34 PM) Cagliostro: gah, reverted from https to http, hm
(09:27:42 PM) Caelin: Oh, it doesn't.
(09:27:42 PM) dkap: Hrm ...
(09:27:51 PM) Caelin: I've logged on twice as myself.
(09:27:56 PM) Caelin: Did it just now, in fact.
(09:30:35 PM) Cagliostro: ah, now I recall.
(09:31:10 PM) Cagliostro: All Cagliostro's been told is that a bunch of the Ifrit are involved with Benedict and Caelin, in re: Caelin's mother.
(09:31:25 PM) Cagliostro: and I think that when Cagliostro hears "Benedict" he thinks "Hamster Benedict"
(09:31:33 PM) Caelin: LOL
(09:31:37 PM) Caelin: If only we were so lucky.
(09:31:51 PM) Cagliostro: and I don't think he's heard anything that makes him get involved - at this point, I think the best option is freeing Caelin's apprentice
(09:31:52 PM) ***Caelin PREFERS Hamster Benedict.
(09:32:23 PM) Cagliostro: Not being an Amberite, it would not occur to Cagliostro that Caelin's mother would hate him enough to build the statue.
(09:32:40 PM) dkap: So does many of the folks, but Hamster Benedict, and Non-combatant Benedict have joined forces to work on Chandroid Local Benedict.
(09:35:34 PM) dkap: True enough. But, the statue's goal is destruction, and, your information has Caelin's mother wanting him not wanting him dead.
(09:35:55 PM) Cagliostro: so I -really- wouldn't think of it.
(09:36:08 PM) Cagliostro: but I figure Caelin could use an apprentice, and he seemed nice enough.
(09:36:12 PM) Cagliostro: so I'll work on the statue.
(09:36:17 PM) Cagliostro: -carefully-.
(09:36:52 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(09:38:42 PM) Auricle [~chatzilla@c-71-192-210-192.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(09:38:52 PM) Auricle: There we go! Finally!
(09:38:57 PM) Caelin: Heylo!
(09:38:58 PM) Auricle: I could NOT log in!
(09:39:58 PM) Cagliostro: woo!
(09:40:10 PM) Cagliostro: (that you got in, not that you couldn't ;)
(09:40:12 PM) Cagliostro: what was the error?
(09:40:15 PM) Caelin: Heh
(09:42:04 PM) Auricle: It just kept timing out.
(09:42:09 PM) Caelin: weird
(09:42:13 PM) Auricle: And trying to reconnect. Yeah.
(09:44:46 PM) dkap: There is a _lot_ of traffic on the internet, because of Obama's speach.
(09:44:47 PM) Cagliostro: there might have been a bad server that you got stuck on.
(09:44:51 PM) dkap: Speech even.
(09:44:56 PM) Caelin: Yes.
(09:45:02 PM) Caelin: Watching it on TV.
(09:45:59 PM) dkap: I'm streaming it over hulu.
(09:46:14 PM) Cagliostro: I'm watching "Extreme Forensics" on the DVR ;)
(09:46:17 PM) Caelin: *nod*
(09:46:19 PM) Caelin: LOL
(09:47:20 PM) dkap: Extreme Forensics?
(09:48:30 PM) Cagliostro: it generally involves the police having to do some sort of weird or time-consuming forensic thign to solve the case.
(09:48:38 PM) Cagliostro: we haven't found out what it is this week.
(09:48:58 PM) dkap: Ahh ... yacs?
(09:50:10 PM) Auricle: Oh, I forgot about Obama's speech tonight.
(09:50:55 PM) dkap: Yeah, he is going on, just a bit. Putting both Orin Hatch and Teddy Kennedy in the hotseat.
(09:51:56 PM) Cagliostro: so: game, run?
(09:52:01 PM) Caelin: Indeed.
(09:52:30 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(09:53:17 PM) Auricle: Game!
(09:54:18 PM) dkap: Right ... Cagliostro is hard on his path. Caelin, I think that puts you in the barrel?
(09:54:33 PM) Caelin: Fire away.
(09:54:45 PM) dkap: Kabooom!
(09:55:12 PM) dkap: RIght ... where did we leave off?
(09:55:30 PM) Caelin: I think the next thing out of Caelin's mouth was about to be, "Maybe I should call a favor with the dragons..."
(09:55:33 PM) Auricle: *pops popcorn, sits down to watch*
(09:56:16 PM) dkap: MMmm ... popcorn.
(09:56:27 PM) Caelin: Muaha
(09:56:29 PM) dkap: And what favor would that be?
(09:57:15 PM) ***Caelin has no idea. Caelin's PLAYER knows this is a horrid idea. Caelin however was kept 100% in the dark that Circe and dragons do not mix.
(09:58:08 PM) dkap: Ahh ... do you want to check with your grandmother before doing that, with her connections to the Dragons?
(09:58:45 PM) Caelin: Yes.
(09:58:58 PM) Cagliostro: I think there was a definite "Notify Princess Chandra" on the to-do list
(09:59:03 PM) Caelin: There is.
(09:59:10 PM) Caelin: Was. And still is.
(09:59:24 PM) dkap: Perhaps, then, that should be your next order of business ... also, you might be ... safer there, since she can, apparently, simply reach into your house, and grab your wife and unborn child.
(09:59:42 PM) dkap: Princess Chandra was warned by Anise and Flora.
(10:00:52 PM) Caelin: We have just informed Benedict. "Seeing that our enemy can reach and grab anyone, I am guessing I should get inside. About now."
(10:02:16 PM) dkap: She grabbed Natasha from inside the house.
(10:02:39 PM) Caelin: "Really?"
(10:02:44 PM) Caelin: Egad.
(10:03:21 PM) Caelin: "General, I believe I will be retreating to the house. Not that it will help much."
(10:03:45 PM) dkap: Yes, if you remember, the room, where the hand reached in and pulled her out, it was a large hand, but it was just rescaled, rather than an actual giant's hand.
(10:06:18 PM) ***Caelin hrms.
(10:06:28 PM) Caelin: "Pardon me a moment..."
(10:07:56 PM) ***Caelin levitates half a dozen marbles from the moat and sends them into a loose orbit around him, making certain to keep them out of range of any allies and friends.
(10:08:14 PM) Caelin: Who else is nearby?
(10:12:47 PM) Cagliostro: (for those playing the home game: in this week's "Extreme Forensics", forensic entomologists scrape the bugs off a rental car in order to prove that a suspect had visited California when he was supposedly out of town.)
(10:13:00 PM) Caelin: (LOL)
(10:14:02 PM) dkap: A bunch of the Bridesmaids, gathered by Anise to help search for the boy hostage, Benedict, some Ifrit ...
(10:15:49 PM) Caelin: "General. It appears we are roughly as unsafe inside house Moonlight as outside."
(10:15:56 PM) Caelin: "what would you advise?"
(10:18:25 PM) dkap: Benedict: Perhaps, a more defensible location could be arranged for. Perhaps the Fringe?
(10:18:51 PM) ***Caelin nods. "That may work. Have we access to it still?"
(10:19:27 PM) dkap: Benedict nods, and says: "Most probably, but ... I'm not entirely sure. Johnny is our conduit.
(10:19:33 PM) Caelin: "It will also only protect Fringeworthy members, unless more means to make probable targets Fringeworthy exists."
(10:20:07 PM) Caelin: "Johnny? I think I met him some time ago. He was the King's assistant at the time."
(10:20:23 PM) dkap: Benedict: "He still is."
(10:22:25 PM) Caelin: "Good. Can he be contacted? I've no contacts with the King currently, or with Johnny."
(10:24:19 PM) dkap: Johnny is working at the advance position.
(10:24:57 PM) Caelin: (The advance position?)
(10:25:42 PM) dkap: Benedict: For the cleanup of the Fringe.
(10:25:55 PM) dkap: Benedict: My previous project.
(10:26:42 PM) ***Caelin nods. "Perhaps we should progress to this position then? Or to the nearest known Fringe gate?"
(10:28:15 PM) dkap: Benedict: Same thing.
(10:29:15 PM) Caelin: "Very well. Send inside for all house members to be evacuated to the Fringe."
(10:34:01 PM) dkap: Benedict: We can only get one person, at a time, onto the fringe ...
(10:35:09 PM) dkap: Benedict: We can only rescue a few people that way.
(10:35:23 PM) ***Caelin sighs.
(10:35:46 PM) Caelin: "alright. Myself, the house second, and all confirmed Fringeworthy members.
(10:39:22 PM) dkap: Benedict: Let's load up.
(10:39:34 PM) dkap: Benedict: Should we try and pry your father free as well?
(10:41:25 PM) Caelin: "He has been taken."
(10:42:08 PM) Caelin: (we came here specifically to inform Benedict)
(10:42:12 PM) dkap: Benedict: "Really? That might be to our benefit."
(10:43:38 PM) Caelin: "..."
(10:43:54 PM) Caelin: "I will take your word for it. You're the master strategist."
(10:43:58 PM) dkap: Benedict: "In case you haven't noticed, your father tends to attract calamity."
(10:45:21 PM) dkap: Benedict: Right then, Right this way ...
(10:45:34 PM) Caelin: "Well, true."
(10:45:42 PM) Caelin: "In that respect, we can only hope."
(10:45:47 PM) ***Caelin follows.
(10:46:36 PM) dkap: Benedict takes you, Anise, the Bridesmaids across the moat.
(10:47:02 PM) dkap: (Your house second is still in Thelbane, are you going to actually have him come out, where he might be more vulnerable, in transit?
(10:47:27 PM) Caelin: (not until he is escorted by Benedict himself)
(10:47:35 PM) Caelin: (perhaps not at all, in fact)
(10:47:59 PM) dkap: (And are you going to give your location change information to your Grandmother?)
(10:47:59 PM) Auricle: afk
(10:48:06 PM) Caelin: (But I will definitely want periodic messages delivered confirming his presence in tThelbane)
(10:48:12 PM) Caelin: (Yes.)
(10:48:58 PM) ***Caelin requests that Princess Chandra be informed of his new location.
(10:49:52 PM) dkap: Anise will take on the project.
(10:50:05 PM) ***Caelin thanks Anise.
(10:51:36 PM) dkap: She bows to you, quite nicely, she's obviously been chatting with Flora.
(10:51:55 PM) ***Caelin smiles.
(10:54:33 PM) dkap: And she goes off, on a path of discovery, trying to find the Guild.
(10:54:38 PM) dkap: The rest, follow Benedict.
(10:55:10 PM) dkap: Benedict, almost as an afterthought, clips a harness around your torso, with a lead-line attached to his off-hand.
(10:56:30 PM) ***Caelin feels like a tyke with one of those harnesses, but goes along with it.
(10:56:43 PM) dkap: Benedict: "Your enemy seems enamored, at the moment, of physical forms of snatching, perhaps, this will allow me an edge."
(10:56:55 PM) Caelin: (though really, we all know everyone WANTS to see if Caelin turns into a Yeti with the harness on)
(10:58:42 PM) dkap: Caelin, if you are paying attention, it's laced with pattern through and through. Sort of like Wonder Woman's lasso, but with less truthiness.
(10:59:19 PM) ***Caelin throws a mildly amused glance at Benedict, but still follows along.
(11:02:23 PM) dkap: You are just about at the Fringe gate, when a large tear in reality happens (a-la the void) a hand dripping power (but not enough to trace or drag back) reaches through. Before, even the target can be determined, Benedict has his pattern blade out (Hey! That looks like the one you gave Titania a while ago ...)
(11:02:24 PM) Auricle: bak
(11:02:50 PM) ***Caelin o_O
(11:03:16 PM) dkap: He leaps into the path of the hand, wrapping his well-muscled thighs (from all that horse-back riding, of course) around one of the fingers, and starts sawing away at another.
(11:03:19 PM) ***Caelin gets the marbles between him and the hand, making sure to keep them away from Benedict.
(11:04:00 PM) dkap: The hand now leaking steaming blood, withdraws, trying (and not succeeding) in shaking Benedict off.
(11:04:27 PM) dkap: And the void snaps shut, leaving just about as much magic behind as would have been a collapsed and drained gate.
(11:04:29 PM) Caelin: (and benedict is still holding my leash?)
(11:04:44 PM) dkap: No, Benedict dropped your leash.
(11:05:35 PM) ***Caelin drains the magic.
(11:06:03 PM) dkap: Not much there to drain. Benedict is gone and you are halfway to ... somewhere.
(11:06:03 PM) ***Caelin conjures two messengers.
(11:06:23 PM) dkap: Two mechanawokle birds later ...
(11:06:57 PM) Caelin: One messenger to Princess Chandra. "General Benedict engaged enemy and retreated back to area of spell origin. Might be captured."
(11:07:52 PM) Caelin: The other to Thelbane, informing the same, PLUS, "Caelin in route to Fringe."
(11:08:05 PM) Caelin: Yes, I am aware there is message overlap, but that's fine.
(11:08:23 PM) dkap: Right... Birds sent.
(11:08:24 PM) Caelin: Have we any idea where the Fringe gate is?
(11:08:27 PM) dkap: Nope.
(11:08:55 PM) Caelin: Do any of Benedict's underlings know where the Fringe gate is?
(11:08:59 PM) Caelin: Ifrit?
(11:09:20 PM) dkap: Nope. They just followed him.
(11:09:27 PM) Caelin: ALL of them?
(11:10:11 PM) dkap: So, you are ... out in shadow somewhere, with a flourish of bridesmaids, some ifrit, and ... well ... not much else.
(11:10:29 PM) dkap: Not _quite_ lost, but... definitely not knowing where you are.
(11:10:42 PM) Caelin: Do the Ifrit know where the gate is, and if they do not, do they have a means to find out?
(11:13:24 PM) dkap: They were just following Benedict. He seemed ... secretive about his path and information.
(11:14:41 PM) ***Caelin curses.
(11:15:16 PM) Caelin: Does this path seem even vaguely familiar to any path Caelin has ever followed to a Fringe gate?
(11:15:33 PM) dkap: Nope.
(11:16:22 PM) ***Caelin sighs. "Well, short of staying here and waiting to be captured, I suppose I could try and shadow walk to one..."
(11:16:29 PM) Caelin: "Assuming my Pattern still works.
(11:18:03 PM) dkap: The Ifrit, still in a protective ring around the gathered folk seem game. One of the bridesmades asks "Don't we have to be able to follow a shadow path to be able to follow your shadow shifting sir?"
(11:18:59 PM) Caelin: "You'll need to be in close proximity, but as I was informed you should be able to follow. We shall see."
(11:19:27 PM) dkap: Right ... Caelin begins his walk.
(11:19:48 PM) dkap: A few moments later, Caelin is all alone, with none of the others, who attempted to follow him.
(11:20:12 PM) ***Caelin backtracks and tries to walk back to the party.
(11:20:41 PM) dkap: Caelin manages (after a false start or two) to walk back.
(11:21:21 PM) ***Caelin wonders howsoever other Amberites moved multiple objects through shadow. Indeed, there seems to be a time verifiable in the logs when HE could do it. ;-)
(11:21:47 PM) Caelin: Were there any noticeable powers that might have been interfering?
(11:21:55 PM) dkap: Indeed, there were many a time, when there was enough current pattern in him to pull it off.
(11:22:02 PM) Caelin: Ahh
(11:22:04 PM) Caelin: Got it.
(11:22:17 PM) dkap: But since his pattern isn't current, and hasn't been recharged in a while ...
(11:22:24 PM) Caelin: Right.
(11:23:03 PM) ***Caelin sighs upon getting back to the party. "Not enough old Pattern in this reality for me to escort the entire party, it seems."
(11:24:56 PM) dkap: (Somewhere Rocky is saying to Bullwinkle "That trick never works.")
(11:25:07 PM) ***Caelin (smiles)
(11:25:32 PM) Cagliostro: (Yes, but first Bullwinkle said "Hey rocky, watch me pull a Caelin out of the void.")
(11:25:52 PM) dkap: The Bridesmaids begin to chatter with a note of despair in their voices.
(11:25:58 PM) Caelin: Do I have my trump deck here?
(11:27:27 PM) Caelin: Wait. No. Better idea. Can the Ifrit transport us to THelbane?
(11:28:01 PM) dkap: How are you going to ask?
(11:29:13 PM) ***Caelin turns to the Ifrit and asks, "Do you have any means to transport us to Thelbane?"
(11:31:05 PM) dkap: Ifrit: If I were to know where "here" was, I could easily get us "there".
(11:31:28 PM) Caelin: Can Caelin open a gate to Thelbane?
(11:32:47 PM) dkap: If he knows where "here" is, yes.
(11:37:28 PM) dkap: Ok ... I think I'm going to have to call it here ... I'm falling over, and I still need to eat.
(11:38:13 PM) Cagliostro: k
(11:38:17 PM) Cagliostro: until next week!
(11:38:24 PM) Caelin: byebye!
(11:38:51 PM) Cagliostro left the room (quit: Read error: EOF from client).
