(09:07:07 PM) ***Auricle watches and tries to patch reality to keep the GM stable.
(09:07:32 PM) Caelin: nice.
(09:07:45 PM) Caelin: Auricle really is a miracle worker.
(09:09:30 PM) Auricle: Well he hasn't talked yet.

(09:32:37 PM) ***Auricle is now going to get the pattern-duct-tape.
(09:32:55 PM) Caelin: fascinating.
(09:33:02 PM) Caelin: what kind of phone?
(09:33:57 PM) mode (+o dkap1) by ChanServ
(09:34:24 PM) You are now known as dkap-phone
(09:34:40 PM) dkap: Blackberry
(09:34:52 PM) dkap: And I don't know why I'm logged in twice.
(09:36:13 PM) dkap-phone: Right then ... Auricle ... Character work?
(09:36:14 PM) dkap: Right then ... Auricle ... Character work?
(09:36:36 PM) dkap-phone: Umm ... did I stutter?
(09:36:36 PM) dkap: Umm ... did I stutter?
(09:36:45 PM) Caelin: huh. and echoing, no less.
(09:36:57 PM) Caelin: whatever works.
(09:37:15 PM) dkap-phone: Grumble ... one more moment.
(09:37:15 PM) dkap: Grumble ... one more moment.
(09:37:23 PM) ***Auricle pattern-duct-tapes the GM into place.
(09:37:35 PM) dkap left the room (quit: Quit: fades away).
(09:38:01 PM) Caelin: tell me we have one gm left.
(09:38:26 PM) dkap-phone: T-1 and counting.
(09:38:30 PM) dkap-phone: Woot! Echo gone!
(09:38:46 PM) dkap-phone: And it looks like I'm only here once, once again.
(09:39:00 PM) dkap-phone: And I can type, but can you folks here me?
(09:39:03 PM) dkap-phone: Anyone at all?
(09:39:08 PM) Caelin: excellent. going to sign in
(09:39:12 PM) Caelin: I hear you
(09:39:14 PM) dkap-phone: Is there anybody in there ...
(09:39:17 PM) dkap-phone: Oh ... Excellent.
(09:39:19 PM) dkap-phone: Good good.
(09:39:31 PM) dkap-phone: So ... to begin (yet again) Auricle background character?
(09:40:31 PM) Auricle: I think I'm watching...
(09:40:42 PM) Auricle: It's been a busy week
(09:41:07 PM) dkap-phone: Ahh ... but I have that, and actions that might have gotten you out of the Jar place ...
(09:41:08 PM) dkap-phone: *sigh*
(09:41:10 PM) dkap-phone: *grin*
(09:41:19 PM) dkap-phone: At least, I made it here.
(09:42:53 PM) Jean: that is true
(09:42:55 PM) Jean: big first step
(09:43:56 PM) You are now known as dkap
(09:44:03 PM) dkap: Whoops ... what did I just do?
(09:44:10 PM) dkap: OK ... I'm still here.
(09:44:11 PM) Caelin: back
(09:44:12 PM) Jean: you blew it up!
(09:44:15 PM) Jean: okay, perhaps not.
(09:44:39 PM) dkap: It just repeated a previous command. This scroll-wheel thing is not the best interface I've ever come across.
(09:45:46 PM) Caelin: hrm...what phone?
(09:45:55 PM) dkap: Blackberry.
(09:46:15 PM) dkap: So, when we last left our intrepid heroes, we were trapped in an insect-collector's nightmare, right?
(09:46:48 PM) Auricle: Er, yes.
(09:47:24 PM) ***Caelin was preparing for whatever stupid tests those in thelbane had in mind that would clearly delay him again.
(09:47:58 PM) ***Jean is, of course, everywhere.
(09:48:04 PM) dkap: Julianna gets the wonderful idea to start attacking the floor. Fortunately or unfortunately, as the case may be, the floor didn't take well to the attack, and tried to fill in as she chopped away at it.
(09:48:23 PM) Caelin: O_o
(09:48:27 PM) Auricle: Jean isn't here :(
(09:48:40 PM) ***Auricle tries the sword of state on the floor.
(09:48:44 PM) dkap: But she was making some headway, until she got through to the underlayer, which was this soft, fleshy material, that, when stabbed, caused the whole room to shake.
(09:48:46 PM) Jean: well, -almost- everywhere
(09:49:18 PM) dkap: She, on council from Zach, suggested that everyone secure themselves the best that they are able, and then went on full-out attack on the fleshy-bit.
(09:49:50 PM) dkap: This caused some bumpitiousness, which lead to some rather unpleasant jaring (of the rolling about of them, rather than the shaking type)
(09:50:17 PM) dkap: There was a large hole suddenly opened, where the flesh was, as if it suddenly was pulled away.
(09:50:41 PM) dkap: At which point in time Julianna jumped down it, while Zach shouted "NO! Stay here!"
(09:51:48 PM) dkap: The top of the room disappeared, and the giant hand started groping around after the individuals in the room.
(09:52:36 PM) dkap: It is noted by Gargoyle that the hand is bandaged, and somewhat cut up, with a cross-correlation to the thought that Benedict jumped a giant hand at one point in the recent past.
(09:52:53 PM) Auricle: ...stab the hand?
(09:52:55 PM) dkap: The hand scoops Zach, and drops him back into a jar.
(09:53:07 PM) dkap: Zach is motioning to you to get hid.
(09:53:19 PM) ***Auricle hides....somewhere...behind a jar?
(09:54:14 PM) dkap: Auricle hides, successfully. So does the Hamsterite.
(09:54:40 PM) dkap: (remember, the hand didn't bring you, so it might not know you are here.
(09:55:02 PM) Auricle: (Me? remember?)
(09:55:46 PM) dkap: Gargoyle reminds you.
(09:56:03 PM) Jean: and you were hiding anyway ;)
(09:56:39 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(09:57:17 PM) dkap: After some poking around, with the hand, the roof is re-sealed onto the room. Gargoyle has visually painted the jar that Zach is in, in green before your eyes.
(09:57:47 PM) ***Auricle grrs and stalks over to Zach's jar.
(09:58:01 PM) Auricle: I don't like it here one bit.
(09:58:26 PM) dkap: Gargoyle agrees, noting where lines that you cross keep effecting the communications between the two of you.
(09:59:23 PM) ***Auricle starts examining the jar.
(09:59:37 PM) Auricle: Break it open, I get shards in me....
(09:59:42 PM) ***Auricle ponders.
(09:59:47 PM) dkap: Same as the others.
(10:00:13 PM) Caelin: (sighs. green...why did it have to be green?)
(10:00:36 PM) dkap: Because green is the new Pink?
(10:01:39 PM) Caelin: (which is only pink because it's so black?)
(10:01:48 PM) Auricle: Is /....oh drat....drummer...name... Gargoyle?? still free?
(10:02:16 PM) dkap: Martin, and yes.
(10:02:35 PM) Auricle: Martin, come here?
(10:02:35 PM) dkap: He hid elsewhere, but gargoyle paints his hiding place in scarlet.
(10:02:51 PM) Auricle: We were able to slice open your jar...
(10:02:57 PM) Auricle: Without actually shards.
(10:03:09 PM) Auricle: It must have to do with the fractal we were drumming.
(10:03:43 PM) dkap: Martin agrees, and suggests he drum on one side of the jar, while gargoyle feeds you the reinforcing pattern on the other.
(10:04:22 PM) ***Auricle stands on the other side of the jar.
(10:05:15 PM) dkap: The drumming begins.
(10:05:20 PM) dkap: Time passes.
(10:05:28 PM) dkap: The jar gives way, without shards.
(10:05:38 PM) dkap: It just gets all soft, and mushy.
(10:05:52 PM) Auricle: And then can be sliced open?
(10:06:02 PM) dkap: From the inside Zach helps push the mush, while the Hamsterite pushes from the outside.
(10:06:14 PM) dkap: And Zach reemerges from the jar.
(10:06:51 PM) Auricle: There we go.
(10:06:55 PM) ***Auricle grins.
(10:07:10 PM) Auricle: MArtin, willing to help free everyone else in here?
(10:07:35 PM) dkap: Martin needs a breather (drumming is hard work) but is willing to start about it in a minute or so.
(10:07:44 PM) Auricle: Fair enough.
(10:10:05 PM) ***Auricle hugs Zach.
(10:11:12 PM) dkap: Zach hugs you back, and then wanders over to the hole Julianna carved.
(10:11:24 PM) dkap: Which is now just a scar on the floor.
(10:12:08 PM) Auricle: This appeared to be some kind of creature.
(10:12:51 PM) dkap: Zach disagrees, and thinks it might be more of an artifact, with a high self-healing factor, because it did not attack Julianna back.
(10:14:58 PM) dkap: He scuffs at the last of the bit that might have once, been an opening, and then, even the last marking is gone.
(10:15:24 PM) dkap: Zach speculates out-loud that the jars might also have a similar healing factor, which is why they are so hard to crack.
(10:16:26 PM) Auricle: But it rumbles...
(10:16:40 PM) Auricle: And reacts to the cutting...and has a hand.
(10:16:53 PM) Auricle: There's obviously some kind of intelligence.
(10:17:17 PM) dkap: Zach: They might be two separate things.
(10:17:41 PM) dkap: Zach: A case, and something/someone near the case.
(10:19:18 PM) ***Auricle thinks.
(10:19:22 PM) Auricle: Probable.
(10:20:13 PM) dkap: Zach: So, therefore, not only do we have to get out of the jars, but we have to get out of the case, without the case-holder noticing.
(10:24:24 PM) Auricle: Well, first I don't think we want to slice open the case.
(10:24:38 PM) Auricle: Let's get everyone out of the jars first.
(10:24:46 PM) Auricle: See what and who we have to work with.
(10:25:13 PM) dkap: Zach: Makes sense.
(10:25:21 PM) dkap: We can hang that, there.
(10:25:42 PM) dkap: So, Caelin, if you are still with us.
(10:25:45 PM) dkap: The litmus test.
(10:25:49 PM) Caelin: I am
(10:26:33 PM) Caelin: I'll need to go get makeup soon and get dressed, but I'll warn when that needs to happen.
(10:27:04 PM) dkap: Good good.
(10:27:25 PM) dkap: So they are bringing you into a tent-like affair set up near Thelbane.
(10:28:02 PM) Caelin: not IN thelbane?
(10:28:10 PM) dkap: Not in Thelbane, correct.
(10:28:41 PM) Caelin: "Listen, gentlemen. if you'll notice, unlike previous impostors, I have my house ring.
(10:29:07 PM) Caelin: "so no, I am not, in fact, an impostor."
(10:30:16 PM) dkap: They look around for a moment, and one of them steps forward, and says "But, none of us are on the council. We don't know even what your house ring looks like, much less know how to test it for being genuine.
(10:30:58 PM) Caelin: "therefore, none of you even have the authority to administer any test you could think up"
(10:31:57 PM) Caelin: "that should be the first and last test. to my knowledge to house ring has ever been duplicated."
(10:32:30 PM) dkap: Another look around, between them and then another one comes up with "Umm ... we didn't design the tests, they were given to us. If the test was unable to be applied by us, why would it have been given to us?"
(10:32:42 PM) dkap: He sounds even more uncertain than the first answer.
(10:33:11 PM) dkap: Another pipes up "Yeah, and we test more than just house-heads, so ... that test doesn't always work."
(10:33:16 PM) Caelin: "...what tests were you given?"
(10:33:22 PM) dkap: Mutters of "Yeah" ripple through them.
(10:33:30 PM) dkap: Another look around.
(10:33:44 PM) Caelin: "show me"
(10:33:47 PM) dkap: One pipes up with "The tests are ... in the tent?"
(10:34:11 PM) dkap: "Yes Yes, we'll show you the tests, come along to the tent!"
(10:35:12 PM) ***Caelin looks to the Ifrit with the words "trap" and "sabotage" all but written across his face
(10:36:17 PM) Caelin: "explain them first, if you please."
(10:36:20 PM) dkap: The Ifrit seem to be reluctant to get any closer to this tent-like affair.
(10:36:54 PM) dkap: "No, no ... ahh ... then you could prepare for them beforehand, and they would be ... less effective! Come along!"
(10:37:35 PM) Caelin: how many of these "test administratorsk are there, gm?
(10:38:27 PM) dkap: About 12 of them.
(10:39:54 PM) Caelin: raise shields. the closest pair get the marbles instantly. the marbles will then ricochet against the rest of them
(10:40:33 PM) dkap: The Ifrit see you reaching for the marbles and take (several) large step(s) back.
(10:41:35 PM) dkap: The marbles do, indeed hit the first two, marbling them, and all 4 of those marbles hit the secondary targets, leaving 6 of them dodging the marbles.
(10:42:54 PM) dkap: Your action?
(10:42:55 PM) Caelin: take out a bibliomantic grenade token and put it in range, then zap with magic. shields up around me and the ifrit.
(10:43:30 PM) dkap: There is, of course, a chaos-shattering kaboom.
(10:44:17 PM) dkap: The tent collapses, and about 8 of your house second, with lots of copies of various other council members (but not Mandor) flee the collapsed tent.
(10:44:35 PM) Caelin: (I tried to hold back as long as I could. I really did.)
(10:44:35 PM) Jean: that's not a good thing for a Chaos.
(10:44:51 PM) dkap: A couple of copies of the ones you marbled and grenaded also flee the tent.
(10:45:03 PM) dkap: Vindicating your judgement.
(10:45:13 PM) Caelin: "capture as manay as you can!!" to the ifrit
(10:45:38 PM) Caelin: bubble any and all that I can.
(10:46:18 PM) dkap: Ifrit: Capture is hard, remove from bothering this sphere again is easy! (as they fly up to engage some of the airborn ones.
(10:47:12 PM) Jean: gm: is any of this visible to a Jean?
(10:47:15 PM) Caelin: mostly stay out of the ifrits' way. they're neater than caelin is.
(10:47:40 PM) dkap: Yes. Jean can see this. He's barca-waiting by the entrance to Thelbane.
(10:47:49 PM) Caelin: "destroy them if you cannot capture them!"
(10:48:04 PM) dkap: The Ifrit seem to accelerate that much more.
(10:48:32 PM) dkap: Fortunately, or unfortunately, some of these are caosian dualers, so they are quite wily in the ways of attack.
(10:48:45 PM) Jean: to both Ilk and Mandor: "Uh... I think we have a problem with the monitors again." *describe what Jean sees*
(10:48:56 PM) Caelin: of course.
(10:49:03 PM) Jean: gm: are there Jean copies in this mess?
(10:49:09 PM) dkap: Thankfully, only some of them are, and the second Ifrit is going after the easier targets while the first Ifrit gathers attention.
(10:49:19 PM) dkap: There are _no_ jean copies.
(10:49:26 PM) dkap: They aren't even vaguely that stupid.
(10:49:27 PM) Caelin: :-)
(10:49:32 PM) Jean: good plan on their part :)
(10:49:39 PM) Caelin: I concur.
(10:50:35 PM) Caelin: so keep on until all are captured, killed, or escaped.
(10:51:38 PM) dkap: Some of them seem to be getting grabbed by ilk (I mean logrus) tendrils, and flung into the prison of Thelbane.
(10:51:54 PM) dkap: Most of those seem to catch on fire as they enter Thelbane.
(10:52:00 PM) Caelin: excellent. fail to get in the way of those.
(10:52:01 PM) dkap: It looks, most uncomfortable.
(10:52:26 PM) Caelin: middle management knows the true name for "uncomfortable"
(10:52:38 PM) dkap: There is a slight displacement of air right next to Caelin, and Mandor, with his balls over his head, slowly spinning, appears.
(10:53:00 PM) Caelin: part the warzone for him.
(10:53:31 PM) Caelin: offer my shields magically
(10:53:49 PM) dkap: He's _inside_ your shields already.
(10:54:45 PM) Caelin: excellent. caelin being one step behind is right in keeping with his warfare. ;-)
(10:54:59 PM) dkap: He looks at you, and gestures toward the marbles (who have managed to covert some of the clones as well) "If you don't mind, good sir, we shouldn't leave those lying around."
(10:55:29 PM) Caelin: "we'll deal with them as soon as the battle is concluded."
(10:55:57 PM) Caelin: "rather, _I_ will."
(10:56:34 PM) Caelin: "my humblest apologies for not seeing through this sooner. this group likely gave away half our allies."
(10:56:45 PM) dkap: Mandor looks uncomfortable: "I would suggest that they could be turned against us ... or capture innocent bystanders ... I do not begrudge you your moat, but ... here, outside Thelbane? I think they are ... unwise to leave lying about."
(10:57:16 PM) ***Caelin nods.
(10:58:02 PM) Caelin: conjure a gate underneath each marble and port to a specific area just at the front of the moat, near the entrance to house moonlight.
(10:58:09 PM) Caelin: rather, open
(10:58:39 PM) Caelin: I have to take a 10 minute break and get makeup and costume on. I'll run back, I promise.
(10:58:55 PM) dkap: Indeed. Break well.
(10:59:01 PM) Caelin: bbs
(11:01:31 PM) Caelin_ [~arkhonii@m4d0536d0.tmodns.net] entered the room.
(11:02:13 PM) dkap: So, while people are on hold. Cagliostro, to fill in more on the background. I'm not exactly quite sure of the wording, but ... I believe Norton will be in touch with you (back in time) and ask, as a favor to him and Ilk, if you would help acclimate some refugees, who were noble at heart, but tactically well-overmatched in their last battle.
(11:02:19 PM) Caelin left the room (quit: Ping timeout).
(11:02:34 PM) Jean: acclimate or accomodate?
(11:02:38 PM) Jean is now known as Cagliostro
(11:02:46 PM) Cagliostro: acclimate or accomodate, even
(11:03:01 PM) dkap: They were in a Valhala-like state, after the battle (all the food, and the partying, but not the battling). and now would like to be able to become who they were.
(11:03:23 PM) Cagliostro: ah, so a re-acclimation process to mortal life
(11:03:26 PM) dkap: Both, actually, although the accommodation part might not be for a long term.
(11:03:29 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(11:04:12 PM) Cagliostro: "Are they expected to be... difficult? On a scale from not difficult at all to Faerie Dragons to Al-Nazir."
(11:05:43 PM) dkap: Norton grins, and pulls out a stub of a pencil, starts scribbling equations, which, of course change on the page, after he wrote them, almost constantly. There is a lemma at war with a theorem in one corner of the paper, in fact ...
(11:06:20 PM) Cagliostro: "At any rate," says Cagliostro, "I would be pleased to do this favor for you and for Ilkandacian."
(11:06:33 PM) dkap: Norton: "Roughly 7.5, with the Faerie Dragons at a 10, and the child of ... you know who, at 100."
(11:06:57 PM) Cagliostro: "Ah, almost pleasant, then. Safe to be accomodated in the inner world."
(11:07:00 PM) Cagliostro: "Probably."
(11:07:38 PM) dkap: Norton: "Safe for them, or safe for those in the inner world?"
(11:08:01 PM) Cagliostro: "The latter out of duty, the former out of courtesy."
(11:08:07 PM) dkap: Norton: "Although, a number of them currently have an ... allergy to sunlight ..."
(11:08:28 PM) Cagliostro: "The outer world would be ... awkward."
(11:09:03 PM) Cagliostro: "Can you say whether there is a cultural referent on my world that will be more familiar to them than others?"
(11:10:14 PM) dkap: Norton: "Got any place that is haunted with old legends, has lots of possibly abandoned castles, open moors, or the like?:
(11:11:13 PM) Cagliostro: "I can work with that."
(11:12:05 PM) dkap: Norton: "Good, that's what they are used to."
(11:15:22 PM) Caelin_ left the room (quit: Ping timeout).
(11:15:35 PM) Cagliostro: gm: Sounds like Emhain might be the best bet.
(11:16:21 PM) Cagliostro: It's sort of Switzerland meets Ireland, between the germany-analog and the france-analog, and a little ways north of Cagliostro. Probably no direct border.
(11:16:33 PM) dkap: Sounds good.
(11:16:38 PM) Cagliostro: Mountains, valleys, moors, ruins, and lots of history from the age of Corwin
(11:16:51 PM) dkap: Throw in some Gingerbread Houses, and they would be perfect *grin*
(11:16:55 PM) Cagliostro: not to mention lots of picturesque ruins from before and after
(11:17:07 PM) Cagliostro: ah, gingerbread chaos. remind me to stay way from -that- piece of fruit.
(11:17:32 PM) Caelin [~arkhonii@m3d0536d0.tmodns.net] entered the room.
(11:18:12 PM) dkap: *grin*
(11:19:50 PM) Cagliostro: so yes, probably the center of celtic religion before the arrival of the local variant of julius ceasar
(11:20:15 PM) Caelin_ [~arkhonii@adsl-75-36-189-118.dsl.pltn13.sbcglobal.net] entered the room.
(11:20:48 PM) Caelin__ [~arkhonii@adsl-75-36-189-118.dsl.pltn13.sbcglobal.net] entered the room.
(11:20:48 PM) Caelin_ left the room (quit: Read error: Connection reset by peer).
(11:20:52 PM) dkap: Which means that they worship Romans?
(11:21:00 PM) Caelin__: back
(11:21:54 PM) dkap: Welcome back.
(11:21:59 PM) Cagliostro: probably a mix of celtic and latian religion, with the usual mix of freethinkers and foreigners
(11:22:19 PM) Caelin left the room (quit: Ping timeout).
(11:22:26 PM) dkap: I believe you had just gated the WMD back to the moat. All of them, or did you call the two you have names for, back to yourself first?
(11:24:20 PM) Caelin__: yes. and I'm taking about 2 dozen KNOWN marbles with me from here on. the prisoners get shipped to a known area of the moat with a carved "impostors" right by them.
(11:25:44 PM) dkap: Check. Marbles, locked and loaded.
(11:26:50 PM) ***Caelin__ says to the ifrit, "I'm only guessing the impostors are working in concert with the current invaders, but I've been wrong before."
(11:27:27 PM) dkap: The Ifrit are somewhat engaged.
(11:27:48 PM) dkap: Your actions took seconds, they are nobly battling over the skies of Chaos.
(11:28:13 PM) dkap: Unfortunately, Ilk could only positively identify those there at the time he was notified, and the Ifrit are going after the rest.
(11:28:35 PM) Caelin__: observe them in combat. does there appear to be a way to assist them without getting in their way?
(11:29:11 PM) dkap: Umm ... perhaps, from moment to moment.
(11:29:26 PM) dkap: Although, if you stripped the magic from their opponents, they would probably have a large upper-hand.
(11:29:35 PM) Caelin__: damn. that's call for me to be on stage. illl be off in 20 but I have to run now. sorry. :-(
(11:29:53 PM) Caelin__: let's strip the enemies of their magic.
(11:30:04 PM) Caelin__: thatlll be my action.
(11:30:58 PM) dkap: Right. And I'll hang game. Play well!
(11:31:32 PM) Auricle: laters!
(11:31:42 PM) Auricle left the room.
