(08:23:37 PM) dkap: Ahh ... arrived I am.
(08:23:43 PM) dkap: Delna, Spot exist.
(08:24:00 PM) dkap: The good count is in residence.
(08:24:41 PM) Caelin [~arkhon@adsl-75-37-29-121.dsl.pltn13.sbcglobal.net] entered the room.
(08:25:06 PM) Caelin: Sorry. Just landed an audition in Chicago and got distracted looking for flights.
(08:25:26 PM) dkap: Oh? Excellent! Congradulations!
(08:25:31 PM) Caelin: Thanks. :)
(08:25:32 PM) dkap: Congratulations.
(08:25:41 PM) dkap: (I don't know why that D got in there.)
(08:26:04 PM) Caelin: It happens. May have been thinking a different word at the time. :)
(08:26:45 PM) dkap: Possibly, but it bothers me, because I wrote a rant about that, not that long ago, in fact.
(08:27:30 PM) Delna: Congrats! What is the audition for?
(08:27:58 PM) Caelin: Lyric Opera of Chicago, mainstage, for their 2010 season.
(08:28:17 PM) dkap: Excellent!
(08:28:40 PM) Delna: Sweet! Break some legs!
(08:28:47 PM) Caelin: We hope! :)
(08:29:24 PM) dkap: I wonder where the Nos is. Breaking legs is her speciality.
(08:31:37 PM) dkap: So ... typing of such ... I believe, Delna, you were on the horns of a dilemma, when last we left?
(08:32:24 PM) Delna: Indeed
(08:35:38 PM) Delna: I was trying to explain to a dying man the choice he had to make in the last hour of his lif
(08:35:40 PM) Delna: e
(08:36:02 PM) Delna: Had he more questions?
(08:36:26 PM) dkap: Indeed. And the choice you had to make, should you wish to give him that gift/curse.
(08:40:52 PM) Delna: I will leave that choice up to him. If he says yes and there is someone here willing, so be it. I will do my part to inform him of all the reasons he wouldn't want the curse of undeath, and from there I wait his decision.
(08:42:44 PM) dkap: What reasons? (So I know Delna's mind.)
(08:46:25 PM) Meiglan [~chatzilla@72.170.197.76] entered the room.
(08:53:16 PM) Cagliostro: (ah, the nosferatu. now the leg-breaking can commence.)
(08:53:27 PM) dkap: *grin*
(08:53:35 PM) Delna: "We are creatures made to destroy life and spread the wyrm, an instinct and urge which most of us never even try to overcome. We live in shadows of that which is human but can no longer be a part of that world. You will not continue life as you know it now if you choose to be turned, remember that while you make your decision."
(08:54:10 PM) dkap: And yet ... you feel no connection with the Wyrm here ...
(08:55:02 PM) Delna: huh
(08:55:44 PM) dkap: Which means, you might not even be able to embrace ...
(08:57:04 PM) ***Delna ...wonders...almost curious to know whether that's true
(08:57:43 PM) dkap: And, if you do embrace, here, what does that mean? What legacy? What effect?
(08:59:35 PM) Delna: interesting...though I'm sure at some point these questions will be tested by someone here regardless
(08:59:50 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(08:59:58 PM) dkap: Jayne: I don't want to die.
(09:00:59 PM) Delna: You choose to become one of the undead then?
(09:01:51 PM) dkap: Jayne: Will I still be able to have my guns and my women?
(09:04:00 PM) Delna: Yes.....though..you won't be able to 'have your women' in the same way
(09:04:45 PM) dkap: Jayne: Oh? What might be different?
(09:09:38 PM) Delna: We get no pleasure from sex. Our ecstasy comes from....feeding on humans
(09:10:25 PM) dkap: Jayne: What? That would be death itself! I ain't doin it.
(09:12:39 PM) Maureen [~penguingi@c-76-119-136-192.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(09:12:54 PM) ***Delna relieved
(09:14:25 PM) dkap: His vehemence has lowered his lifespan down to minutes, though.
(09:15:35 PM) Delna: "Calm down. You're gonna kill yourself. I'm going to bring your friends to you, try not to die in the meantime"
(09:16:04 PM) ***Delna goes quickly to retrieve his friends and bring them to him before he goes
(09:16:17 PM) dkap: His crushed organs are ... probably not going to recover, unless a drastic step is taken.
(09:17:09 PM) Delna: Is there a step I would know of?
(09:18:18 PM) dkap: Well ... embracing him is a drastic step, yes.
(09:18:30 PM) dkap: Regardless of his compliance.
(09:18:55 PM) dkap: Or, you could ask your new allies for help ... as well.
(09:19:16 PM) Delna: That is what I was just thinking..
(09:19:16 PM) dkap: Although, the seem better at causing harm than health.
(09:20:48 PM) Delna: I kick in celerity to quickly seek out one of our new undying friends that would still be around. On the way I tell Jayne's friends that they should go to him now
Maureen Meiglan meiglan
Meiglan meiglan
(09:22:16 PM) dkap: The ones trapped in the other sections of the ship that meiglan went to rescue?
(09:22:32 PM) dkap: Or the ones who suggested you embrace him?
(09:23:21 PM) Delna: The ones who suggested I embrace him
(09:23:54 PM) dkap: Right.
(09:24:05 PM) dkap: There is the young lady.
(09:25:39 PM) dkap: Who is apparently the daughter of the Count.
(09:26:38 PM) dkap: She's happy to entertain whatever your question is.
(09:29:22 PM) Delna: I will find her then and ask whether there is anything she can do for Jayne
(09:30:26 PM) dkap: She asks you for a description of the problem.
(09:30:45 PM) dkap: Then, when you do, she suggests that, indeed, her father might be able to help.
(09:31:07 PM) dkap: And uses her phone to call the Count.
(09:31:50 PM) Cagliostro: who will of course answer.
(09:32:51 PM) dkap: Delna is put on the phone to Cagliostro.
(09:34:28 PM) Delna: I describe the situation as briefly as possible and say that Jayne's time is significantly short. "Is there anything you can do to help? I would be much indebted to you."
(09:36:47 PM) Cagliostro: "Jayne this time, hm. Interesting that they would be there."
(09:36:55 PM) Cagliostro: And he hangs up, and gates someplace inconspicuous.
(09:37:22 PM) Cagliostro: and probably a bit back from the crash site, since the terrain has probably been rearranged a bit.
(09:38:24 PM) ***Delna hands the phone back
(09:39:09 PM) Delna: "Thank you again. I'm not sure what he meant..but thank you."
(09:39:12 PM) dkap: Did you bring any equipment with you?
(09:40:07 PM) Cagliostro: Just a couple of Ifrit, probably an extra one if I have any capable of maintaining healing magic.
(09:40:29 PM) Cagliostro: if anyone needs practice with patience, they get the spot. ;)
(09:40:47 PM) Spot: Arooooo!
(09:40:58 PM) Spot: (er, sorry, carry on)
(09:41:37 PM) Cagliostro: (typical. :)
(09:43:41 PM) dkap: You have.
(09:43:47 PM) dkap: arrived, even.
(09:44:18 PM) Cagliostro: so, the Count will arrive, acknowledge the crowd, politely boggle at the ship, then enter it and patch up Jayne.
(09:44:19 PM) Spot: (swapping computers)
(09:44:31 PM) Spot left the room (quit: Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.85 [Firefox 3.5.3/20090824101458]).
(09:44:51 PM) dkap: To enter it, you have to climb up the outside, and into the hole broken in at the end of the ramp.
(09:45:01 PM) Cagliostro: Sufficient that he will not die in the near term, and then gate him outside the ship, and then check out the rest of the ship.
(09:45:28 PM) Cagliostro: if I can magically levitate, I will. I do have a reputation to maintain.
(09:45:33 PM) dkap: Or do something else that maintains your dignity more.
(09:45:34 PM) Cagliostro: otherwise, yes, climb up to the hole.
(09:45:52 PM) Cagliostro: failing that, an Ifrit could give me a boost, since they can fly.
(09:48:53 PM) dkap: The Ifrit can carry you handily, and tear a larger hole so they can descend through for you.
(09:49:25 PM) Cagliostro: the former sounds plausible, the latter could cause structural problems so should be kept to a minimum.
(09:51:55 PM) Spot [~chatzilla@c-71-232-106-50.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(09:52:06 PM) dkap: Could, or you could just conjure away any of the problematic debris.
(09:54:44 PM) dkap: In you go. And Jayne is dying, right before your eyes. Major internal organ rupture. You might have to behead him, and rebuild his body from scratch ... it might be easier.
(09:56:15 PM) Cagliostro: meh. I'm planning to dump him into a bacta tank.
(09:56:23 PM) Cagliostro: the longer it takes him to heal, the longer till he hurts himself again.
(09:56:58 PM) Cagliostro: can I stick with plan A, or is the Futurama plan really that much less time-consuming for Cagliostro?
(09:58:26 PM) dkap: It would also mean you don't have to knock a larger hole to get the tank back out.
(09:58:46 PM) Cagliostro: I wasn't planning on creating the tank here
(09:58:54 PM) Cagliostro: as I said: patch him up, gate him out, check the ship
(09:58:56 PM) dkap: Ahh ... if you move him, he will probably die.
(09:59:07 PM) dkap: Oh, gate him in the tank, might work.
(09:59:14 PM) Cagliostro: no, not the plan.
(09:59:16 PM) Cagliostro: trying again:
(09:59:24 PM) Cagliostro: can I patch him up so that he will not immediately die if moved?
(10:03:29 PM) Caelin: Time to run. Y'all take care and don't blow up the multiverse while I'm gone, okay?
(10:03:33 PM) Caelin left the room (quit: Read error: EOF from client).
(10:03:55 PM) dkap: Probably not.
(10:04:05 PM) dkap: Or at least, not faster than he will expire.
(10:05:28 PM) Cagliostro: okay.
(10:05:41 PM) Cagliostro: could I gate him directly to a bacta tank?
(10:05:42 PM) dkap: Well ... you could put a system that would keep his head/brain alive, and let his body die ...
(10:05:51 PM) Cagliostro: well, that is plan C.
(10:06:03 PM) Cagliostro: plan B is to gate him to one of hamster benedict's bacta tanks.
(10:06:08 PM) dkap: You could probably gate him to a tank ...
(10:06:15 PM) Cagliostro: if I can open a gate to them, determine that it's safe, and gate him directly.
(10:06:43 PM) dkap: You can open a gate to them, but you don't know if the change in time/space would sever his fragile hold on life.
(10:07:04 PM) Cagliostro: meh.
(10:07:15 PM) Cagliostro: plan C it is.
(10:07:24 PM) Cagliostro: head in a bag in some sort of preservation system.
(10:08:04 PM) Spot: ((we have a head in bag kinda group, don't we))
(10:08:10 PM) dkap: We do.
(10:08:17 PM) dkap: Or a bucket, if I recall Ilk correctly.
(10:09:32 PM) Cagliostro: or as a hand puppet, if Norton's around.
(10:09:41 PM) Cagliostro: (s'allright? s'allright.)
(10:09:55 PM) Cagliostro: okay, anyone else trapped or injured in the ship?
(10:10:04 PM) Cagliostro: and anything else in the ship of obvious interest to Cagliostro?
(10:11:02 PM) dkap: Lots of interesting things on the ship. The Nos and a hamster are elsewhere excavating.
(10:11:33 PM) Cagliostro: okay, under control, then.
(10:11:36 PM) Cagliostro: other injured parties?
(10:11:39 PM) dkap: Several of the crew have not yet been seen by you, and might also be injured, elsewhere in the ship.
(10:11:51 PM) Cagliostro: indeed.
(10:12:03 PM) Cagliostro: which is why I said I was going to search the ship for them.
(10:12:53 PM) dkap: Exactly, where are you starting, control room, or engine room side?
(10:13:54 PM) Cagliostro: where does it seem the Nos and the Hamster are searching?
(10:13:55 PM) Cagliostro: not there.
(10:14:00 PM) dkap: Control Room.
(10:14:06 PM) Cagliostro: bottom-up, then.
(10:14:29 PM) dkap: Right.
(10:18:05 PM) dkap: Kylee is stuck, crying under a chunk of the engine.
(10:21:39 PM) dkap: Something about ... "It just won't go."
(10:21:48 PM) dkap: and "She doesn't love me anymore."
(10:22:26 PM) Cagliostro: Can I tell Kaylee's level of injury?
(10:23:02 PM) Cagliostro: presumably magically, since she's trapped.
(10:24:40 PM) dkap: Well ... she _seems_ completely functional ...
(10:24:48 PM) Cagliostro: ah, mental, then.
(10:25:58 PM) Cagliostro: "Kaylee? You seem to have crashed. You should step outside to plan the repairs."
(10:26:56 PM) dkap: Kaylee: "Bbbbbbbut ... she's DEAD!" *sniffle* *sniffle* *Wail*
(10:27:30 PM) Cagliostro: gm: have the Ifrit free Kaylee.
(10:27:46 PM) Cagliostro: gm: is the ship likely to collapse or settle further, causing her additional injury?
(10:28:03 PM) dkap: Not with the Ifrit holding up the engine.
(10:28:20 PM) dkap: She's clinging to the pieces that the Ifrit are lifting.
(10:28:36 PM) Cagliostro: hm.
(10:28:49 PM) Cagliostro: to the Ifrit: "Stay here with her for a while, if you would."
(10:28:52 PM) Cagliostro: and continue the search.
(10:30:41 PM) dkap: As you head up from the engine room, you see Mal, somewhat impaled.
(10:31:00 PM) dkap: Mal: Umm ... could you give me a hand, good count? I seem to be stuck.
(10:31:13 PM) Cagliostro: "But of course. This may... sting, somewhat."
(10:31:20 PM) Cagliostro: prepare, pull, and patch.
(10:31:55 PM) dkap: The I-beam seems to have torn through his spine a bit, which is probably why he can't get the leverage with his legs to pull himself off.
(10:32:22 PM) Cagliostro: ah. he may need a conjured brace, then.
(10:33:34 PM) dkap: Probably. But all the tissue and nerves are still alive (go-go mystic inertia healing), so you can probably just connect them back up.
(10:33:43 PM) Cagliostro: well, there's a chicken and the egg problem.
(10:34:01 PM) Cagliostro: I can't fix the tissue till the I-beam isn't in the way, and pulling him off the I-beam will make things worse.
(10:34:12 PM) Cagliostro: so a conjured brace, a pull and a fix seem like the prudent approach.
(10:35:18 PM) dkap: Oh, I thought you already pulled and was patching, and that was what I was describing.
(10:35:48 PM) Cagliostro: well, the prepare part involved checking for potential issues.
(10:35:57 PM) Cagliostro: so it's probably the same place, but with a bit more paranoia.
(10:36:25 PM) dkap: Right.
(10:37:41 PM) Cagliostro: okay, Mal pretty much other control?
(10:37:41 PM) dkap: It's amazing how much more damage a robust system can take without completely falling apart, unlike a week low-mystic-inertia system.
(10:38:03 PM) Cagliostro: er, under.
(10:38:06 PM) Cagliostro: okay, move along.
(10:38:08 PM) dkap: This would have killed Jayne outright, and here he is talking about getting up and helping you with the further search and rescue, once he catches his breath.
(10:38:31 PM) Cagliostro: politely excuse myself before he does so in order to continue the work.
(10:38:40 PM) Cagliostro: until he catches up, of course.
(10:38:57 PM) dkap: Of course.
(10:39:19 PM) dkap: You do know it's a bit of bravado, but ... I'm sure his dignity thanks your acceptance of his words.
(10:39:54 PM) dkap: You reach the Nos and Hamster Brand trying to get the console off of (blast, now I've forgotten her name ...)
(10:40:00 PM) dkap: The second in command.
(10:40:12 PM) Spot: Zoe
(10:40:55 PM) Meiglan: (and how successful are we with that? My mind, she's a foggy)
(10:40:58 PM) Cagliostro: is she conscious?
(10:41:09 PM) Cagliostro: (I think they'd pretty much succeeded.)
(10:42:00 PM) dkap: Zoe, right. (bloody mind. I keep losing those thingys. You know ... People, places, things, and ideas ... umm ... what verbs describe ...)
(10:42:43 PM) dkap: They had pretty much moved it, and no, Zoe is not conscious.
(10:43:26 PM) Cagliostro: gm: check zoe's condition.
(10:43:27 PM) dkap: Zoe, Mal, Kaylee, and Jayne inside. River and her brother outside.
(10:44:00 PM) dkap: Thready pulse, possible concussion, broken right arm (spiral) broken left hand (shattered, pretty much).
(10:44:23 PM) Cagliostro: okay, not nearly as bad as last time, then.
(10:44:27 PM) dkap: Nope.
(10:44:38 PM) dkap: Nothing you couldn't put right in about a half-hour or so.
(10:44:44 PM) Cagliostro: fix her up for transport, tissue fix if that's easy, if not then easy tissue fix plus brace.
(10:44:55 PM) dkap: It seems she was the one trying to land Serenity.
(10:45:12 PM) dkap: She's just been knocked between.
(10:45:12 PM) Cagliostro: okay, then do what's easy, brace the rest, and leave her for pickup if she's safe to be moved, gate her outside otherwise.
(10:45:26 PM) dkap: You can have the Nos carry her, without a problem.
(10:45:28 PM) Cagliostro: any kind of power still running through the ship?
(10:45:36 PM) Cagliostro: no voice counting down to warp core breach or anything?
(10:45:39 PM) dkap: Nope. Not a flicker.
(10:45:47 PM) Meiglan: Meiglan can carry her, unless there are other people needing help.
(10:46:05 PM) dkap: Not a sigh from the compressors, nothing.
(10:46:19 PM) Cagliostro: excellent.
(10:46:39 PM) Cagliostro: "That would be appreciated. I know of no one else who needs help leaving the ship, but I have not yet finished searching it."
(10:46:42 PM) Cagliostro: gm: finish searching it.
(10:47:39 PM) dkap: No one else left alive in the ship. There is still the corpse of Zoe's husband (who wasn't when he awoke ...)
(10:48:20 PM) Cagliostro: huh. where did that come from? Not my problem.
(10:48:42 PM) dkap: You made it, if I recall properly.
(10:48:56 PM) Cagliostro: I deconjured it just afterward, if you recall properly
(10:48:59 PM) Meiglan: Meiglan brings Zoe out and will help search the rest of the ship if necessary.
(10:49:00 PM) Cagliostro: after it failed to have a soul.
(10:49:01 PM) dkap: And tried to reanimate it, and found ... someone else, not Wash in there ...
(10:49:08 PM) Cagliostro: I found a vegetable.
(10:49:16 PM) dkap: I thought she asked to keep it as a momento.
(10:49:17 PM) Cagliostro: so I deconjured it and wiped Zoe's memory.
(10:49:25 PM) Cagliostro: no, she was freaking out screaming
(10:49:28 PM) dkap: Ahh ... right, no corpse then.
(10:49:46 PM) dkap: My memory is going more and more these days.
(10:49:50 PM) Cagliostro: apparently!
(10:50:00 PM) dkap: I need more ... umm ... ginko viagra.
(10:50:09 PM) Cagliostro: but yes, that was a rather noticeable failure on Cagliostro's part. Which is why no one else remembers it. ;)
(10:50:18 PM) Cagliostro: and there is no physical evidence of same.
(10:50:31 PM) Cagliostro: it was an interesting outlier, though, and deserving or more study. At some time in the future.
(10:50:47 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(10:50:59 PM) dkap: But, yes, that's the crew, no other passengers on board.
(10:51:29 PM) Cagliostro: so, okay: report to River that Zoe is unconscious but relatively uninjured, Mal is slightly damaged and making his own way out, Kaylee seems to be in psychological shock, and Jayne's going to need to be regrown from the head and brain.
(10:52:24 PM) dkap: River is somewhat less than pleased that Jayne is still their problem, but, doesn't mind the rest. She's sad that Kaylee is sad.
(10:53:39 PM) Cagliostro: "So... this is almost certainly not the right place to fix your ship. We don't have that level of technology here, and you are kind of in a vampire preserve. Where would you like to go?"
(10:56:00 PM) Cagliostro: (we can save the rest of that conversation for when River's player has expressed an opinion)
(10:57:29 PM) dkap: Indeed. She just signed off. *sigh*
(10:57:38 PM) dkap: Which means, this might be a good place to hang.
(10:58:05 PM) Spot: Aroo! Night, then, folks!
(10:58:12 PM) Spot left the room.
(10:58:18 PM) Cagliostro: indeed!
(10:58:22 PM) Cagliostro: until next week, then.
(10:58:30 PM) dkap: Until next week, true believers.
(10:58:41 PM) Cagliostro: you should invite her to IRC.
(10:58:53 PM) dkap: Who?
(10:59:00 PM) Cagliostro: River.
(10:59:10 PM) Meiglan: good night everyone, sleep sweet,
(10:59:11 PM) dkap: Oh ... no, she doesn't want Mal's character to find her.
(10:59:18 PM) Cagliostro: oh, good point.
(10:59:26 PM) Cagliostro left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving.).
(11:00:45 PM) Delna: Night. Thanks!
(11:00:55 PM) dkap: Good night.
(11:01:02 PM) Delna left the room (quit: Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.85 [Firefox 3.5.3/20090824101458]).
(11:02:19 PM) Meiglan left the room (quit: Read error: EOF from client).
