(08:30:16 PM) Caelin: All rise, for the honorable GM...
(08:30:24 PM) Hegara: *stands
(08:32:00 PM) ***Auricle waits to see if there is really a GM
(08:32:26 PM) Meiglan: aren't we supposed to pledge allegiance or curtsy or something?
(08:32:47 PM) Caelin: Only in times of war.
(08:36:18 PM) Hegara: lol
(08:36:19 PM) mode (+o dkap) by ChanServ
(08:37:04 PM) Caelin: Dkap, your session active?
(08:37:05 PM) dkap: I really hope no pledging goes on.
(08:37:09 PM) Caelin: LOl
(08:37:11 PM) dkap: I'd have to call myself "Julian"
(08:37:16 PM) dkap: You know ... King Julian.
(08:37:20 PM) dkap: (Of the lemurs?)
(08:37:25 PM) Caelin: Lemme give you a small warning...
(08:37:25 PM) Hegara: lol
(08:37:56 PM) Caelin: I'll be in town Sunday evening until Tuesday, and I'll need to crash in my old room, if that's okay.
(08:39:35 PM) dkap: Just fine!
(08:39:58 PM) dkap: It's your room still, my friend. Up until I need to rescue someone else ... *grin*
(08:40:25 PM) ***Caelin bows. "Thank you!"
(08:41:07 PM) Auricle: Aha!
(08:41:10 PM) Auricle: There he is!
(08:41:32 PM) dkap: Where? Where?
(08:41:48 PM) Caelin: Boba Fett?! Boba Fett?! WHERE?!
(08:42:57 PM) dkap: Exactly!
(08:46:35 PM) dkap: Right then.
(08:46:41 PM) dkap: Where did we leave off?
(08:46:58 PM) dkap: The count hairing off, following spot into the Umbra, right?
(08:47:18 PM) Hegara: i think so
(08:47:26 PM) Delna: yeah, that sounds about right
(08:47:49 PM) Auricle: I think so
(08:47:53 PM) Auricle is now known as Spot
(08:48:19 PM) dkap: So, Spot, you've now dragged a mundane into the Umbra.
(08:48:33 PM) Spot: Yup
(08:49:16 PM) Spot: Behold, the Umbra
(08:49:40 PM) dkap: (slugs go "OOOOOOOOooooooOOOOOOOOhhhhhh")
(08:54:33 PM) Spot: And there's no count.
(08:54:38 PM) Spot: making this hard to do
(08:55:05 PM) Cagliostro [~sgorton@c-66-31-32-142.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(08:55:18 PM) Cagliostro: right, it's Tuesday
(08:55:21 PM) Spot: aha
(08:55:24 PM) Caelin: LOL
(08:55:25 PM) Hegara: lol
(08:55:47 PM) Spot: Speak, and he appears
(08:56:05 PM) Cagliostro: Summoned, I arrive.
(08:56:09 PM) Caelin: Right. What's an Umbra? ;-)
(08:56:14 PM) dkap: *grin*
(08:56:28 PM) dkap: It's about the length of your middle finger down to your elbow.
(08:58:51 PM) Cagliostro: So IIRC Cagliostro is in the Umbra trying to follow the tracks
(08:58:54 PM) ***Spot coughs. "So, behold, the Umbra."
(09:00:16 PM) Cagliostro: "Yes, it's not the Overworld. Haven't been here before. The trails are more prominent here."
(09:01:08 PM) dkap: Mmm ... and the relationship to the world beyond is mappable by your lens.
(09:01:20 PM) dkap: So this could actually _be_ the magic side of the magical plane?
(09:02:20 PM) Cagliostro: I don't think Cagliostro thinks in those terms
(09:02:24 PM) Cagliostro: alas for you ;)
(09:02:41 PM) Cagliostro: so, are the tracks trackable?
(09:02:44 PM) Spot: "It's the spirit world, the world beyond mundane senses."
(09:04:00 PM) dkap: The lines, that look somewhat like a little thick spider-silk, with a bluish tinge, are leading away, like an untwisted rope ...
(09:04:07 PM) dkap: All in approximately the same direction.
(09:05:24 PM) Cagliostro: "Hm."
(09:05:31 PM) Cagliostro: gm: I go thataway.
(09:05:41 PM) dkap: Spot?
(09:05:42 PM) ***Spot rolls his eyes and follows.
(09:05:55 PM) dkap: Spot heads in a weaver-like direction.
(09:05:56 PM) Spot: "You realize you can't get out of here without me..."
(09:06:16 PM) Spot: "And you're heading towards a Weaver spot. "
(09:06:46 PM) Cagliostro: "Maybe. What's this Weaver you speak of?"
(09:08:05 PM) ***Spot grins a little.
(09:09:31 PM) ***Cagliostro continues
(09:09:43 PM) Spot: "The Wyld is pure chaos, pure creativeness, pure growth, pure everything. The Weaver takes the Wyld and changes it, turns it to static, to form, to function, to a neverchanging world. And the Wyrm, we break down her makings, destroying all, returning the circle."
(09:10:56 PM) Spot: "She will wrap you in webs and hold you in her neverchanging embrace unless you are careful."
(09:11:23 PM) Cagliostro: "Interesting."
(09:13:00 PM) dkap: Somewhere, I'm sure, Delna is twitching.
(09:14:14 PM) Cagliostro: gm: any feel for how far away the destination is?
(09:14:21 PM) Cagliostro: and any new threads joining the mass?
(09:14:24 PM) Delna: heheh
(09:14:38 PM) dkap: No new threads, joining the mass, yet.
(09:14:50 PM) dkap: And the destination is "far".
(09:15:53 PM) dkap: Far enough that it converges on the horizon.
(09:16:28 PM) Cagliostro: can I open a gate here to here on the horizon?
(09:16:34 PM) Cagliostro: threadishway?
(09:16:54 PM) dkap: Umm ... actually, you are having real trouble creating a gate here.
(09:17:11 PM) Cagliostro: can you describe the trouble?
(09:17:14 PM) Spot: Where in the Umbra are the strands headed? What realms? Or area?
(09:17:36 PM) dkap: All the magic is very flow-y
(09:17:51 PM) Cagliostro: and the flows are disrupting gate formation?
(09:17:54 PM) dkap: Not deeper in the Umbra, but ... a distance away.
(09:17:57 PM) Cagliostro: or the magic is too dense to move?
(09:18:02 PM) Kintani [~Kintani@c-75-67-240-124.hsd1.nh.comcast.net] entered the room.
(09:18:14 PM) dkap: The magic doesn't seem to want to be bound into form, here.
(09:18:17 PM) Kintani: Apologies for the delay
(09:18:18 PM) dkap: Ammon!
(09:18:24 PM) Kintani is now known as Ammon
(09:18:27 PM) dkap: Just the being we were looking for.
(09:18:51 PM) dkap: So, the count has stepped into the Umbra with Spot, to investigate the weaver-threads.
(09:18:54 PM) Ammon: Today has been the day of extra driving.
(09:19:01 PM) dkap: Bleah?
(09:19:14 PM) Ammon: Logged about 200 mi. today.
(09:19:37 PM) Caelin: Heh. I put in my insane driving day yesterday.
(09:19:57 PM) Ammon: So, what did I miss?
(09:20:00 PM) dkap: Wow!
(09:20:06 PM) Cagliostro: gm: so conjuration is also affected?
(09:20:23 PM) dkap: Try it?
(09:20:41 PM) Spot: Gm: Can I sense what he's trying to do?
(09:21:30 PM) Cagliostro: sure. something small. perhaps a meat-flavored apple.
(09:21:31 PM) dkap: Umm ... there is a gathering of the weaver-intent around him for a moment, constraining the wyld ...
(09:21:47 PM) ***Spot eyes Cagliostro.
(09:22:22 PM) Spot: "What are you trying to do there?"
(09:22:30 PM) Cagliostro: "Conjure something."
(09:22:34 PM) dkap: There is a pop, and a ham-smelling giant apple appears, suddenly.
(09:22:41 PM) Cagliostro: "My."
(09:22:47 PM) ***Spot hmms.
(09:22:54 PM) Spot: "Hungry?"
(09:22:59 PM) Cagliostro: gm: how giant is giant? fist? head? staypuff marshmellow?
(09:23:08 PM) dkap: It seems to be bursting with porcine-goodness.
(09:23:27 PM) dkap: About body-sized (maybe roughly 6' in diameter.)
(09:23:37 PM) Cagliostro: "Not currently. If you want to snack, feel free. I was shooting for a somewhat smaller scale."
(09:23:55 PM) dkap: And smells very much like the spam that Gerard was made up of, for a while.
(09:24:59 PM) Spot: "I'm not eating in here if I can avoid it.
(09:25:01 PM) Cagliostro: gm: conjure a small, controllable flying carpet. Aim for around 1 foot by 1 foot.
(09:25:08 PM) Cagliostro: "Prudent."
(09:25:26 PM) Spot: "You realize doing what you're doing is going to attract attention."
(09:26:12 PM) Cagliostro: "I admit the possibility."
(09:26:22 PM) Cagliostro: "But you can take me back out, right?"
(09:26:44 PM) ***Spot ponders that this is why they eat mages, but doesn't say that one aloud.
(09:26:59 PM) Spot: "I can."
(09:27:05 PM) Spot: "If we have time."
(09:27:05 PM) Caelin: (*snicker*)
(09:27:09 PM) ***Spot grins again.
(09:27:22 PM) Spot: "And depending on what attention you attract."
(09:28:42 PM) dkap: Are you still conjuring the carpet?
(09:29:18 PM) Cagliostro: gm: sure
(09:29:26 PM) Cagliostro: Cagliostro, alas, does not lack for confidence.
(09:29:46 PM) Cagliostro: and a bit of stomping around counts as recon.
(09:30:23 PM) Ammon: (Not a high-Warfare party.)
(09:31:00 PM) ***Spot doesn't remember his stats, but this is par for the course for this game. ;)
(09:31:14 PM) Spot: (at least I know who i am as Spot.)
(09:31:31 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(09:31:50 PM) dkap: Ammon, you, last I checked, was watching this, in the Umbra, while talking with the folks not in the Umbra.
(09:32:27 PM) Ammon: ((I seem to recall a lot of stats in the 'Chaos' level, and a really high Shapeshifting and Psyche, but I don't have my stats in front of me or remember them fully.))
(09:32:54 PM) dkap: I know.
(09:33:15 PM) Cagliostro: (declines to mention his warfare.)
(09:33:22 PM) Ammon: Hey, if there about to provide a dangerous, high-level distraction, take the opportunity to reassemble the Bat and seal him back up with some Rage, Willpower and Gnosis.
(09:35:11 PM) dkap: When Ammon starts sealing up the Bat-Spirt, the weaver-threads start melting away.
(09:35:34 PM) ***Spot hmmms.
(09:35:43 PM) Ammon: Does Ammon notice this?
(09:36:05 PM) dkap: Ammon does not, but Cagliostro and Spot do.
(09:36:07 PM) Spot: "Interesting. Someone's playing around on the telariun. (or however it is spelled)
(09:36:11 PM) dkap: And Cagliostro can't see why.
(09:36:14 PM) Ammon: Carry on then
(09:36:25 PM) Cagliostro: so it looks like there's counter-conjuration?
(09:36:48 PM) Spot: "Not....quite. Someone back where we were is being interesting."
(09:37:01 PM) Cagliostro: (sorry, that was to the GM)
(09:37:12 PM) Cagliostro: so substitute in a "That was unexpected" out loud
(09:37:12 PM) Spot: ((ah))
(09:37:27 PM) dkap: No, just as if the threads just ... melted.
(09:37:32 PM) Cagliostro: hm.
(09:37:48 PM) Cagliostro: "Can you take me back across for a moment?"
(09:39:14 PM) Spot: "Hang on." Spot grabs the Count and steps sideways again.
(09:40:09 PM) dkap: There is Ammon, healing the Bat Spirit, while Simon is experimenting with the newest chopped up vampire.
(09:40:23 PM) Cagliostro: gm: so we didn't move at all?
(09:41:06 PM) Spot: gm: yeah we should have moved *some*
(09:41:41 PM) dkap: Of course you moved, sideways.
(09:42:18 PM) Cagliostro: but not in darkover-space.
(09:42:45 PM) Cagliostro: "Interesting. So I can't gate on the other side, and I can't see in which direction the threads go in this world." *pause* "Any ideas?"
(09:45:54 PM) Spot: "We ask the spirits."
(09:46:11 PM) Ammon: "I can see the threads from this side.
(09:47:17 PM) Cagliostro: "I can sort of see them from this side, but not well enough to follow. Can you see them from a distance?"
(09:47:34 PM) Cagliostro: to Spot: "If not, we can ask the spirits."
(09:47:43 PM) Ammon: Take a look around.
(09:48:07 PM) Ammon: To Spot, gesturing at the Bat Spirit, "He'll be back to his old self shortly."
(09:49:11 PM) ***Spot nods. "Do you need any help with him?"
(09:49:42 PM) Ammon: Not sure how much juice he'll need to fully reform yet.
(09:49:54 PM) Ammon: He may need a bit more Gnosis
(09:50:44 PM) Ammon: (Any threads left to see?)
(09:50:54 PM) dkap: Yes, but less of them.
(09:51:04 PM) dkap: The bat-spirit is really confused.
(09:51:14 PM) Ammon: (How's my range/clarity here?)
(09:51:23 PM) Spot: gm: I can sink some gnosis into the bat-spirit
(09:52:31 PM) dkap: There is a ... shiny, sort of woosh-noise, and the guy who crash-landed with Inara, gets sliced open. He, on the other hand, does not continue to move, much, except for the blood spirting out of him, and the death-rattle.
(09:52:37 PM) dkap: Ammon, there are no threads on him.
(09:52:54 PM) dkap: Your range is shorter than you would like, your clarity high.
(09:53:09 PM) Cagliostro: gm: anything obvious watching the situation with the lens?
(09:54:19 PM) Ammon: GM: Anything Umbra-side during the attack?
(09:54:30 PM) dkap: He's pretty much dead, although you might be able to save the brain if you work fast. His spine was cut, from the base of his scull, all the way down to his tailbone, as deep as the front of his sternum.
(09:55:40 PM) Cagliostro: gm: physical? magical? not magical?
(09:55:59 PM) dkap: Physical, not magical.
(09:56:14 PM) dkap: There was a flash on the umbra side, but nothing when you looked that way.
(09:56:26 PM) dkap: As it turns out, no one was looking at him at that specific moment.
(09:56:38 PM) Cagliostro: gm: save the brain
(09:56:43 PM) dkap: In fact, every time this happens, it happens in a moment that no one is looking.
(09:56:53 PM) Ammon: GM: Any loose soul flitting away?
(09:56:54 PM) dkap: Cagliostro, you can do that.
(09:57:02 PM) dkap: Ammon, not yet.
(09:57:30 PM) dkap: Hasn't left the body ... it's a few seconds into the spurting, and the count just shattered his skull and pulled the brain out.
(09:57:38 PM) dkap: And the soul seems to be staying with the brain.
(09:57:54 PM) Ammon: So, it's like an anti-mummification?
(09:57:56 PM) dkap: As the count drops it into a jar, that he seemingly pulled from beneath his cloak.
(09:58:06 PM) Cagliostro: gm: beat me to it. ;)
(09:58:35 PM) ***Spot is currently quite impressed with the count.
(09:58:42 PM) dkap: Exactly in that the body isn't being preserved, but the life is.
(09:58:51 PM) Spot: "There'd have been way more blood if I'd done that. Nice job."
(09:59:28 PM) Cagliostro: "So it's an ongoing problem, and still seems to be clustered here."
(09:59:44 PM) Cagliostro: "And no one saw anything? It does seem physical..."
(10:00:51 PM) Delna: "We're going to have to catch it if we want to learn anything about what is going on."
(10:02:07 PM) Spot: "We'll need a box. And bait."
(10:02:14 PM) Ammon: "Think it's a matter of speed, camoflage, or both?"
(10:02:26 PM) dkap: And you now have someone who the weaver didn't ?bother? saving.
(10:03:47 PM) Hegara: good night all, I am off
(10:03:57 PM) Ammon: ((G'night))
(10:04:06 PM) Caelin: (Goodnight)
(10:04:10 PM) Hegara left the room (quit: Quit).
(10:04:59 PM) dkap: Which is different from the Bat Spirit (native) Woof (non-native) and 2 Vamps (one sleeping, one awake).
(10:05:21 PM) Delna: "I don't know, but I think everyone needs to have someone watching them. We need to pair up."
(10:06:14 PM) Spot: "We have the little bats, they'll help watch everyone....did they see anything?"
(10:07:00 PM) dkap: The bats were watching Ammon work on their head-spirit.
(10:07:10 PM) dkap: And, besides, their eyes aren't very good.
(10:07:16 PM) dkap: (to begin with).
(10:08:01 PM) Spot: yeah but their radar might have picked something up
(10:08:15 PM) dkap: Nope.
(10:08:33 PM) dkap: They were concentrating on their Bat Spirit, and, well ... it _is_ dark.
(10:09:01 PM) Cagliostro: gm: Contact a couple of Ifrit and ask them to participate in a bit of problem solving.
(10:10:26 PM) dkap: They would be proud to turn their minds to such an endeavor.
(10:11:02 PM) ***Cagliostro silently ponders whether Jean counts as observation. Unfortunately Cagliostro doesn't realize how easily Jean is distracted...
(10:11:58 PM) Delna: "Ok. Have them try to keep an eye out, but everyone else should still pair up. I want to check in with the others near the castle. Meiglan, will you come with me?"
(10:12:21 PM) Ammon: (Ammon quietly checks if he still has an Assassin following him. Probably by subvocally asking.)
(10:12:26 PM) Spot: "And we should get the pack to the castle on guard."
(10:12:34 PM) Meiglan: Sure thing.
(10:13:06 PM) ***Delna nods. "good idea."
(10:14:00 PM) Cagliostro: gm: examine the wound. see if I can get a feel for the sort of object that caused it.
(10:14:23 PM) Cagliostro: Are we talking sword, claw, monomolecular whip, two-dimensional plane of badness...
(10:14:40 PM) Delna: Delna will head toward the castle with Meiglan
(10:16:13 PM) dkap: Ammon, the assassins were recalled.
(10:16:23 PM) Meiglan: Keeps a watchful eye out as they head to the castle.
(10:17:03 PM) Ammon: (Listens to the silence for a moment, then recalls he's talking to someone who left much earlier)
(10:17:04 PM) dkap: Very sharp, tapered, left scrapes of a softer metal (like silver) behind on the bones.
(10:17:07 PM) Delna: Delna will keep a watchful eye on Meiglan as we make our way
(10:17:26 PM) Meiglan: Meiglan is NOT getting any prettier.
(10:17:29 PM) dkap: Did not tear, but cut, almost surgically, with surgical precision.
(10:18:12 PM) Cagliostro: gm: take samples of metal, put in small container.
(10:18:24 PM) Cagliostro: gm: how much like silver?
(10:18:59 PM) Ammon: (Make sure the Bat Spirit is up and functional, then head over to Cagliostro.)
(10:18:59 PM) dkap: Under the lens? It's colloidal silver, perhaps used on the blade as a lubricant?
(10:19:07 PM) Cagliostro: hmmm.
(10:19:18 PM) dkap: But more liquid than solid.
(10:19:18 PM) Cagliostro: can I put together a colloidal silver detector?
(10:19:21 PM) Cagliostro: magic-type?
(10:19:30 PM) Cagliostro: gm: "Hm. Silver."
(10:19:33 PM) dkap: Sure, not a problem. It might take you all of 30 seconds.
(10:19:40 PM) Cagliostro: er, that lastshouldn't be gm, just out loud.
(10:19:52 PM) Spot: "Silver?"
(10:20:26 PM) Cagliostro: Okay, can I do that and link a sudden increase in the amount of silver in the area to 1) a localized ward 2) high taser levels of electricity 3) unconciousness gas?
(10:20:29 PM) Ammon: GM: Ammon will call the Lune out of his Klaive, and ask it if it senses any sort of impressions on the silver the Count found.
(10:20:45 PM) Cagliostro: "Yes, the blade seems to be lubricated with liquid colloidal silver."
(10:23:50 PM) Ammon: For visual edification: Ammon pulls out a fetish-bound Silver Klaive, covered in Egyptian Hieroglyphs and Garou Sigils, mostly focused around prayers for destroying Setites.
(10:24:15 PM) Ammon: Blade itself is a oversized Khopesh
(10:25:35 PM) dkap: Yes, all that is doable. Do you want to do a spotlight as well, so it attracts eyes?
(10:25:52 PM) Cagliostro: and if I could throw in a trumpet flourish.
(10:25:54 PM) dkap: Lune? Klaive?
(10:25:56 PM) Cagliostro: I do have standards to maintain.
(10:26:16 PM) dkap: The bird?
(10:26:37 PM) Cagliostro: klaive: garou ritual silver knife. Lune: moon spirit, bound into the knife to make it a fetish.
(10:26:44 PM) Ammon: Ammon's Eagleton-forged Khopesh, that he made into a Klaive.
(10:26:46 PM) dkap: You can throw in a trumpet flourish. How many of these detectors are you making, being that they are simply physical objects, and take you little to no energy to gen.
(10:26:56 PM) dkap: Ahh ... not the bird.
(10:26:59 PM) Cagliostro: one for everyone.
(10:27:03 PM) dkap: Good good. I had ... odd imiages.
(10:27:38 PM) Ammon: Translator: Ammon's sword Artifact, with the moon spirit in it.
(10:27:51 PM) dkap: The moon spirit will not leave the blade.
(10:28:19 PM) Ammon: Does it give an impression as to why?
(10:28:40 PM) dkap: For it is not a local moon, and would disuncorporate? immediately.
(10:29:00 PM) Ammon: Got it. Good reason.
(10:30:44 PM) dkap: It thought so.
(10:30:45 PM) ***Cagliostro starts handing out small octagonal, reflective tokens.
(10:31:00 PM) ***Spot takes a token and examines it.
(10:31:13 PM) Ammon: "What's this?"
(10:31:29 PM) Cagliostro: shiny, surprisingly sturdy, some sort of metallic thing.
(10:31:47 PM) Cagliostro: "A detector for sudden influxes of silver."
(10:32:24 PM) dkap: Is there a particular side toward the holder that is obvious? Like a pin on the back they can pin it to clothing with?
(10:32:34 PM) Ammon: "Ooooh!" Dedicate it as a Fetish.
(10:32:36 PM) dkap: Or a strap, where they can string it around their neck?
(10:32:39 PM) Cagliostro: gm: it should be omnidirectional, right?
(10:32:57 PM) Cagliostro: gm: probably half with pins, half with straps.
(10:33:18 PM) dkap: Detection omni, but the light should have a direction, unless you are simply going to "flashcube" everyone.
(10:33:22 PM) Spot: "Ohhhhhh."
(10:33:31 PM) ***Spot immediately dedicates it as well.
(10:33:49 PM) Ammon: Add it to the chain with my Ankh, and grab one for Beibhinn.
(10:33:54 PM) dkap: Dedications work. Although, there is a bit of friction between the dedicated things.
(10:34:11 PM) dkap: And you should test your shape-shifting with it, for it "feels" funny.
(10:34:21 PM) dkap: A good choice.
(10:34:35 PM) Cagliostro: gm: the light's more of a spotlight than a blinding light.
(10:34:44 PM) Cagliostro: top down.
(10:35:08 PM) Ammon: Shift a bit, pop wings, etc.
(10:35:18 PM) Cagliostro: gm: send a few handfuls with an Ifrit for Delna and meiglan
(10:35:19 PM) ***Spot shifts and also pops wings.
(10:35:31 PM) ***Spot giggles slightly at Ammon.
(10:36:12 PM) Spot: ((The whole pack had followed, as i recall, so they can all get their shineys))
(10:36:31 PM) Ammon: Ammon's wings, in a fit of "not natural", are black, purple and metallic gold bird wings.
(10:37:24 PM) ***Spot has giant bat wings
(10:38:12 PM) Ammon: "We should race later. I haven't gotten to try to race another Garou in the air yet."
(10:38:32 PM) ***Spot nods. "That sounds like fun, I've never gotten to do that either."
(10:39:22 PM) Ammon: "As soon as the present situation is ended, I'm good for a run or three." ;-)
(10:40:39 PM) Spot: "Agreed."
(10:40:40 PM) dkap: The shiny shifts with you, appropriate to your size and shape.
(10:44:46 PM) dkap: Delna has taken Meiglan off to help spread the Octagons of Warning.
(10:45:06 PM) Delna: Indeed
(10:45:16 PM) dkap: Are the Ifrit (and is it amongst the skills of the Ifrit that you asked for assistance) to also help in the production of them?
(10:45:31 PM) Cagliostro: it is not; these are not magically rated Ifrit, just Ifrit Ifrit.
(10:46:00 PM) Delna: So, only enough shinies for us then?
(10:47:55 PM) dkap: No, the count can produce one every 30 or so seconds, so lots are being handed out of the box that the count is apparently pulling them out of.
(10:49:45 PM) Delna: Ok. Are the Ifrit able to explain what these things are for when they are delivered to us? Or is there a note of any kind?
(10:51:17 PM) Cagliostro: I would imagine they would describe them as detectors that may work to ward against the intruder's attacks.
(10:52:13 PM) dkap: Or at least warn that an attack is immanent.
(10:52:40 PM) dkap: And ... this would probably be a good place to call for final actions for the night?
(10:52:48 PM) Cagliostro: sure
(10:53:35 PM) Ammon: Follow Count to Castle, and give Beibhinn the update, the disk, and get her to stay close.
(10:54:00 PM) Ammon: I'll update Samantha tomorrow.
(10:54:18 PM) Cagliostro: Count is staying where he is, and dispatching boxes of goodies to Castle.
(10:54:24 PM) Ammon: Though she'll have to poke you for whatever she's been up to unsupervised
(10:54:24 PM) Delna: no final actions other than my previous stated path
(10:55:44 PM) Ammon: Then send a note to go with the Ifrit telling her to look out for invisible attackers with silver weapons, and to wear a octagon.
(10:56:04 PM) Ammon: She can get details later.
(10:56:15 PM) Spot: Getting the pack organized on patrols and stuff
(10:57:23 PM) Ammon: And then keep an eye on the Count.
(10:57:34 PM) dkap: I'd love an email update from her, when she has the chance.
(10:57:41 PM) Ammon: (Don't want the Princess or Vera mad at me.)
(10:57:42 PM) dkap: Pack organized. Check.
(10:58:02 PM) dkap: The Nos and Delna passing out octagons, and telling people to keep eyes on each other.
(10:58:13 PM) dkap: Ammon eyes on count.
(10:58:20 PM) dkap: What about your Daughter, Cagliostro?
(10:58:33 PM) ***Spot is going to sleep then. Night!
(10:58:43 PM) Ammon: I believe the last action Bebhinn took was the conga-line, so she's prolly still drinking.
(10:58:49 PM) dkap: And what about plans for daylight?
(10:58:52 PM) Delna: (night!)
(10:58:54 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(10:58:57 PM) Spot left the room.
(10:58:59 PM) dkap: Good night Gleep.
(10:59:01 PM) Ammon: (G'night)
(10:59:04 PM) dkap: Damn, too slow.
(10:59:12 PM) Ammon: Same herew
(10:59:14 PM) Caelin: Happens.
(10:59:16 PM) Ammon: here, even
(10:59:18 PM) Caelin: Good night!
(10:59:25 PM) Caelin left the room.
(10:59:25 PM) Ammon: G'night!
(10:59:26 PM) dkap: Ahh ... but an update would be good.
(10:59:26 PM) Cagliostro: I would prefer that she monitor the situation from outside of slicing distance
(10:59:34 PM) Cagliostro: so if she doesn't know about it, I won't tell her
(10:59:40 PM) Cagliostro: and if she does know, she will have a couple of Ifrit
(10:59:46 PM) dkap: What _is_ slicing distance? Are you soliciting reports?
(10:59:58 PM) Cagliostro: I'm figuring the local country.
(11:00:15 PM) Cagliostro: Probably just the local square mile. because I would have heard otherwise.
(11:01:58 PM) dkap: Usually they don't bother you with such things, until they are digested, and then, it might be a footnote, unless there is something expressed in the interest in that direction.
(11:02:24 PM) Cagliostro: hm.
(11:02:35 PM) Cagliostro: I'll continue with my hopeful delusion until informed otherwise.
(11:04:25 PM) dkap: Right. Good good.
(11:04:29 PM) dkap: That sounds like a game!
(11:04:56 PM) Cagliostro: excellent
(11:04:57 PM) Ammon: G'night all
(11:04:58 PM) Cagliostro left the room.
(11:05:04 PM) Ammon left the room (quit: Quit: ~ Trillian Astra - www.trillian.im ~).
(11:05:51 PM) Delna left the room (quit: Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.86 [Firefox 3.5.7/20091221164558]).
(11:11:43 PM) Meiglan left the room (quit: Read error: EOF from client).

(08:18:20 PM) dkap: Hello?
(08:21:28 PM) dkap: Is this even working/on?
(08:22:23 PM) Cagliostro [~sgorton@c-66-31-32-142.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(08:22:33 PM) Cagliostro: it's later than I thought.
(08:22:38 PM) dkap: It often is.
(08:24:36 PM) Ammon: It does seem to be working.
(08:25:02 PM) Meiglan [~chatzilla@72.170.197.76] entered the room.
(08:25:12 PM) dkap: Excellent!
(08:25:16 PM) dkap: Yes, we are gathering.
(08:25:21 PM) dkap: Delna said she would be late.
(08:28:56 PM) Meiglan: I have been gathered
(08:29:37 PM) dkap: And, like a bud in a vase, there to beautify the room. Like all Nos are.
(08:29:39 PM) dkap: *grin*
(08:33:10 PM) dkap: Right. When last we left our slasher-victims ...
(08:33:52 PM) Ammon: Slash-ees?
(08:34:37 PM) Ammon: As usual, Beibhinn is generally available over my shoulder, upon request.
(08:34:59 PM) dkap: And I believe that Spot (who is available, but unable to connect to IRC at the moment) and the Count were about to head off into the wild (threaded) blue yonder.
(08:35:02 PM) Ammon: Though, she's shovelling snow at the moment, so she's AFK for the next little bit
(08:35:07 PM) dkap: Ammon watching from the side-lines.
(08:35:20 PM) Ammon: Hopefully safe sidelines. ;-)
(08:35:34 PM) Cagliostro: the Octagons of Warning were being distributed
(08:35:35 PM) dkap: Delna and Meiglan passing out ... the octagon pieces.
(08:35:50 PM) Cagliostro: with the assistance of an Ifrit, if desired
(08:36:00 PM) Ammon: Though that's mostly due to Ammon watching the threads and them to see if he can figure out what's going on.
(08:36:43 PM) dkap: Indeed, they are.
(08:37:24 PM) Meiglan: Delna and Meiglan will take advantage of the offered Ifrit as this will get the pieces handed out quickly and efficiently thereby getting their defensive wards in place that much quicker.
(08:38:14 PM) Ammon: Ammon will make sure the Ifrit put Octagon Dog Tags on the presently dead or mutilated people who are being put back together
(08:38:41 PM) dkap: And have people watch each other?
(08:38:55 PM) dkap: Ahh ... insightful of you Ammon.
(08:39:29 PM) Meiglan: Yes, a buddy system so to speak.
(08:40:56 PM) dkap: MMMmm ... buddy system.
(08:41:28 PM) dkap: Although, to poke at the non-dualistic view of the world, so you don't have to worry about "Don't blink", you might want to be in groups larger than two.
(08:43:03 PM) Ammon: Groups of 3 are prolly safe. Over 3, and you start risking one person getting overlooked for a critical and potentially fatal second
(08:43:48 PM) dkap: That's true as well.
(08:44:48 PM) Ammon: Ammon will point this out before anyone else wanders off, and tells the Ifrit nearby to suggest it to the ones already distributing Octagons.
(08:45:05 PM) Ammon: Let the formation of Trinities begin! ;-)
(08:48:41 PM) Cagliostro: The Ifrit are dressed in desertish regalia, and lightly armored. The Ifrit with Delna and Meiglan is Bilqis, a burly 6'8" female Ifrit with purple skin and bone white eyes, with a slightly curved two-handed sword. The Ifrit that remains with Cagliostro is Bhairiya, another burly Ifrit that is 7' tall and has red skin, red eyes, and a shortsword on her scale.
(08:48:49 PM) Cagliostro: (Yes, I finally wrote a random Ifrit generator.)
(08:51:00 PM) Ammon: Sam notes Bebhinn will happily drink until she's a happy drunk, but no further. She won't risk going far enough to pass out nor so far that a Resist Toxin won't end it immediately.
(08:51:17 PM) Ammon: And she will continue to keep the party mostly contained
(08:52:12 PM) dkap: The party is quite happening, and mostly contained.
(08:52:58 PM) dkap: A few stray goats have joined in, but beyond that, nothing strange.
(08:53:10 PM) Ammon: She'll play happy Hostess, and once Octagons arrive, make sure everyone wears one.
(08:53:20 PM) Ammon: "No beer without a tag"
(08:54:25 PM) Meiglan: Hopes people don't get to the point where the goats are looking good...cause that's just icky.
(08:54:32 PM) dkap: Some hilarity about "dog tags" and lots of drunken resistance (resistance until distraction happens, then aquessence) is going on.
(08:54:52 PM) dkap: Compared to some of the bone-gnawers there, they goats _do_ look good.
(08:55:36 PM) Ammon: Hehehehe. Goats get tags as well.
(08:55:40 PM) dkap: Good good.
(08:56:08 PM) Ammon: Broccoli gets tagged.
(08:56:31 PM) Ammon: A communal tag, and they can watch Beibhinn and each other while singing.
(08:56:51 PM) dkap: They can pass the tag on the left-hand side.
(08:57:02 PM) Ammon: ((Wonders if he should just give Sam the keyboard. ;-) ))
(08:57:45 PM) Ammon: Hmmm... I just realized we have a multiple Sam count, so I should switch to Samantha... ;-)
(08:57:46 PM) Spot [~chatzilla@c-71-232-106-50.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(08:57:50 PM) Spot: Aha! Finally!
(08:57:54 PM) Ammon: Yay Spot!
(08:57:54 PM) dkap: WOOT!
(09:01:03 PM) Meiglan: Yippee!
(09:01:03 PM) The account has disconnected and you are no longer in this chat. You will be automatically rejoined in the chat when the account reconnects.

(09:02:40 PM) dkap: *sigh*
(09:02:44 PM) dkap: I'm back, though.
(09:03:07 PM) Meiglan: for me it's that white stuff that's happening outside.
(09:04:03 PM) Spot: i worried it could be or you, GM
(09:05:16 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(09:05:40 PM) Ammon: There's much White stuff happening outside here as well.
(09:05:47 PM) Spot: Snow!
(09:05:51 PM) ***Spot bounces
(09:05:52 PM) dkap: INDEED! Snow.
(09:06:43 PM) Cagliostro: I think we can keep track of the Sams, Ammon. ;)
(09:10:07 PM) dkap: It's easy enough to keep track.
(09:10:22 PM) Ammon: True.
(09:11:16 PM) dkap: So, where were we?
(09:11:27 PM) dkap: Oh, right. Party in the Mountains.
(09:16:40 PM) dkap: Most of you are in crenos, not homid.
(09:17:01 PM) Spot: yeah
(09:18:29 PM) dkap: And the Count, Spot, and an Ifrit are tracing the lines.
(09:18:32 PM) dkap: Right?
(09:18:46 PM) dkap: Ammon, you are watching them on the other side of the umbra.
(09:18:48 PM) Cagliostro: if possible, yes
(09:18:58 PM) Cagliostro: if I am on the umbra side of the umbra, I do have a question
(09:19:09 PM) Cagliostro: how does the philosopher's stone react in the umbra?
(09:19:10 PM) Spot: yes we are
(09:19:13 PM) dkap: Meiglan, Delna, and the other Nos are spreading the party favors.
(09:19:28 PM) dkap: It peers into the non-umbra space.
(09:19:49 PM) dkap: Which is why you hypothesised that you are on the "inside of the magic": if I recall correctly.
(09:20:09 PM) Cagliostro: that was the lens, though
(09:20:10 PM) Cagliostro: not the stone
(09:20:13 PM) Cagliostro: which I often forget I have
(09:20:37 PM) dkap: Oh, right. The stone is inert there.
(09:20:44 PM) Cagliostro: interesting.
(09:22:27 PM) Cagliostro: can I look for sort of protothreads going on?
(09:22:41 PM) dkap: Protothreads?
(09:22:43 PM) Cagliostro: figuring that if the slashing creates threads, then there should be something quasithreaded going on somewhere to trigger that
(09:23:40 PM) dkap: Ahh ... you can be corrected on that. After the last slashing, some of the threads departed the currently-threaded bodies, for that one, and then they all filled in with more threads to replace the missing ones.
(09:24:10 PM) dkap: But there was definitely a moment between when the slash happened and the threads appeared.
(09:24:25 PM) ***Cagliostro hms
(09:24:48 PM) Cagliostro: can I tell what the thread tropism is?
(09:24:52 PM) Cagliostro: that should keep Cagliostro busy for a bit
(09:26:43 PM) dkap: And the threads ignored the other guy, entirely.
(09:26:57 PM) dkap: And that's why you pulled his brain.
(09:27:53 PM) Cagliostro: knowing is half the battle ;)
(09:28:15 PM) dkap: You would need more victims to be able to determine more about the tropisms.
(09:29:04 PM) Cagliostro: prepare some analysis spells & techniques while waiting for mor evictims
(09:29:48 PM) Spot: I'll try to attune to the local spirits here
(09:29:51 PM) Spot: if there are any
(09:30:32 PM) dkap: The bat-spirit is the most local.
(09:31:07 PM) Spot: anything else around?
(09:31:38 PM) dkap: Nothing stirring much, no.
(09:31:42 PM) Spot: k
(09:32:07 PM) dkap: There is a small Kami-spirit around the Mayor, but, since he is sleeping at the moment, the spirit is quiessent.
(09:32:29 PM) dkap: There seems to be some aura around the Count, but ... that simply might be a function of who he is.
(09:33:18 PM) Spot: did he have it last time?
(09:34:24 PM) dkap: Indeed he did.
(09:37:14 PM) Spot: all right
(09:37:22 PM) Spot: then its probably just him
(09:37:32 PM) Spot: similar to mages in the umbra, iirc?
(09:37:35 PM) dkap: It might very well be. Or he is personally haunted with something.
(09:37:47 PM) dkap: Very similar, one would say ... spot on.
(09:38:04 PM) Spot: k
(09:38:05 PM) Cagliostro: one would only say that once ;)
(09:38:19 PM) Spot: I'm always spot on.
(09:38:24 PM) Spot: Spot off.
(09:38:28 PM) Spot: spot roll over
(09:38:33 PM) Spot: spot eat your face off...
(09:38:47 PM) dkap: Spot laugh maniacally at your discomfort?
(09:38:53 PM) Spot: yes
(09:41:56 PM) dkap: I have to take a bio-break ... I'll be right back.
(09:46:05 PM) Delna [~chatzilla@c-71-228-78-177.hsd1.fl.comcast.net] entered the room.
(09:46:34 PM) dkap: Ahh ... Delna! Welcome!
(09:47:07 PM) Delna: Hello!
(09:47:32 PM) Cagliostro: greetings
(09:47:48 PM) Ammon: Allo
(09:48:14 PM) Cagliostro: For the benefit of Spot and Delna, a repeat from earlier: The Ifrit are dressed in desertish regalia, and lightly armored.
(09:48:14 PM) Delna: I am still a bit distracted here. Roommate moved out and I have to get a lot of stuff out of the house.
(09:48:59 PM) dkap: Roommate didn't take stuff with him or her?
(09:51:02 PM) dkap: How unfortunate.
(09:51:15 PM) Delna: well, she took what would fit in her car..and didn't do much at all with the rest of it....and she kept a lot of useless stuff. And trash.
(09:52:32 PM) dkap: Bleah.
(09:53:02 PM) dkap: It's a pity you can't ship things to her new address "Cash On Delivery" anymore.
(09:54:26 PM) Delna: heh. no. I have found a number of useful things cleaning up everything, so I suppose it evens out somewhere
(09:54:48 PM) dkap: That works.
(09:55:05 PM) Ammon: Eh, even when you could ship CoD, she could refuse, and you'd have to pay the shipping and return shipping.
(09:57:30 PM) dkap: Ahh ... I'd often do so after the postal "forwarding address" kicked in, so it would then be forwarded back to the person, and they'd have twice the cost ... *grin*
(09:57:36 PM) Meiglan: I'd just toss what you can't use or give to Goodwill and call it a day.
(09:57:56 PM) dkap: You are much nicer than me on many occasions. One of the reasons I love you so.
(09:59:06 PM) Meiglan: I thought it was for my stew.
(10:08:00 PM) Cagliostro: (game comma run)
(10:12:21 PM) dkap: Right.
(10:12:23 PM) dkap: Sorry.
(10:13:51 PM) Delna: Well, at least there's that. Also, just found ramen in a box full of peanuts..it was rather amusing.
(10:19:45 PM) dkap: That does sound strange.
(10:21:16 PM) Spot: game?
(10:21:23 PM) dkap: RIght. Where were we?
(10:22:17 PM) dkap: High on a hill in the lonely goat.se ...
(10:22:42 PM) Cagliostro: waiting for something to happen, I think
(10:23:02 PM) dkap: Right. People are investigating in various directions.
(10:23:06 PM) dkap: Time passes.
(10:27:08 PM) dkap: It gets to be near dawn.
(10:37:58 PM) dkap: It sounds like we are all kinda winding down.
(10:38:25 PM) dkap: What plans are in place for the coming of the Dawn?
(10:39:45 PM) Spot: mking sure nothing eats the count
(10:44:43 PM) Cagliostro: waiting for something to happen.
(10:45:41 PM) Meiglan: Keeping watch on the other NOS (unless they're someone else and I've forgotten) and Delna, in case the Mad Slasher What Slashes at Midnight comes back.
(10:46:52 PM) Delna: Keeping watch, for as far as I know. And giving out the shiny bits if they haven't already been distributed
(10:47:14 PM) dkap: Keeping watch through the daylight? Won't that be hard?
(10:47:40 PM) dkap: Are you letting everyone go back to their separate rooms? Or have everyone bunk-down in a nice, watchable location?
(10:50:29 PM) Meiglan: I'd think in one central location where everyone can be watched over at the same time.
(10:50:48 PM) ***Cagliostro can offer to bring in some more Ifrit to keep an eye on people during the day.
(10:51:04 PM) dkap: That makes sense.
(10:51:39 PM) Meiglan: Seconds the idea of the Ifrit.
(10:51:59 PM) Spot: That's good, woofs will need sleep too
(10:52:11 PM) Cagliostro: Ifrit, IIRC, do not sleep.
(10:52:40 PM) Ammon: Ammon will settle in somewhere central to a horde of woofs, drop down to Lupus, and sleep
(10:53:13 PM) Cagliostro: gm: perhaps another twelve ifrit, of whom a couple will be magic-capable.
(10:53:57 PM) dkap: Another pod?
(10:55:08 PM) Cagliostro: I am not sure what you mean by pod. Not a whole coven.
(10:55:15 PM) Cagliostro: Just a batch of Ifrit, some of whom are magic-trained.
(10:56:05 PM) dkap: Ahh ... gotcha.
(11:03:57 PM) dkap: So, shall we wrap? We seem to have run out of steam.
(11:04:06 PM) Cagliostro: we can wrap.
(11:04:18 PM) Cagliostro: but we are in a waiting-for-gm mode, and will be next week too...
(11:04:32 PM) Cagliostro left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving.).
(11:04:40 PM) dkap: Until next week, my heros, when the next sunset will happen.
(11:04:48 PM) Ammon left the room.
