(08:08:10 PM) Delna: My vote goes to the one with the silly hat
(08:08:21 PM) Delna: woohoo, silly hat wins
(08:09:09 PM) Cagliostro: woo, silly hats it is.
(08:09:32 PM) dkap: Silly hats?
(08:09:51 PM) Cagliostro: I think Delna was voting for the Pope while we were waiting.
(08:09:54 PM) Cagliostro: so: game?
(08:10:08 PM) Spot: hat!
(08:11:12 PM) dkap: Which pope? The one from Niger, or the one who advocated eugenics in his youth, but apparently justifies that with the stance of the church by saying "they weren't Christian babies ..."
(08:11:28 PM) Cagliostro: probably Pope Berndatte
(08:11:32 PM) Cagliostro: or whoever has the silliest hat
(08:11:37 PM) Cagliostro: *Bernadette
(08:11:54 PM) dkap: Carol Burnadette?
(08:12:18 PM) dkap: "This, this is a bad plan. You might lose your hat." -some Jager.
(08:14:00 PM) Cagliostro: so, game?
(08:14:22 PM) dkap: Minion is making her way here ...
(08:14:41 PM) ***Spot misses Auricle and her Jaegers.
(08:14:47 PM) dkap: *grin* So too do I.
(08:15:20 PM) dkap: I know Bernadette Peters for Pope!
(08:15:52 PM) Meiglan [~chatzilla@72.170.197.76] entered the room.
(08:15:59 PM) dkap: Oh, wait, didn't she already play that in Into the Woods?
(08:16:15 PM) dkap: Aaaand we are back!
(08:17:16 PM) dkap: No shit, there we were, 2 ifrit, a Count, two Vamps and a woof, in a hexagonal room, a second hexagon in the center, trapping Meiglan's arm, and a smokey, possibly wailing spirit trapped within as well.
(08:17:45 PM) dkap: There is also a sword sticking out of the center hexagon.
(08:19:25 PM) Delna: hmm, perhaps a lady of the lake to save the day then?
(08:19:28 PM) Spot: "Haven't we seen this before?"
(08:19:42 PM) Cagliostro: "It does seem passing familiar."
(08:20:04 PM) Cagliostro: "Shall we see what things look like in the Umbra?"
(08:20:28 PM) Spot: "Let's." I look around for a shiny.
(08:20:37 PM) Spot: Oh wait, house of mirrors
(08:20:41 PM) Spot: right?
(08:21:10 PM) dkap: Indeed, house of mirrors. Shiny's galore.
(08:22:15 PM) Spot: I grab the count and dive through a convenient mirror.
(08:22:48 PM) dkap: As you step into the umbra, the house of mirrors isn't there, but so, too, aren't the reflections of the other 4 (or 5, if you count the smoky one.)
(08:23:16 PM) dkap: Bits of the rest of the carnival are there, though.
(08:23:23 PM) Spot: no wailing spirit
(08:23:24 PM) Spot: ?
(08:23:37 PM) Cagliostro: yeah, the spirit and the sword are the focuses of our attention?
(08:25:19 PM) dkap: No sword, no spirit, no house of mirrors, as if, none of that, nor the contents of it even exist.
(08:25:38 PM) dkap: Normally, Spot, you have seen the Vamps at least, reflected in the Umbra, but not now.
(08:25:56 PM) dkap: As if, the house of Mirrors holds them kept, in a different way.
(08:26:29 PM) ***Cagliostro hms.
(08:26:33 PM) ***Spot hmmmms.
(08:26:34 PM) Cagliostro: "Does this happen a lot?"
(08:26:50 PM) Spot: "Not often."
(08:27:02 PM) Spot: "Therefore something strange is at work."
(08:27:35 PM) dkap: Watson, the game is afoot?
(08:29:59 PM) Cagliostro: "Hm."
(08:30:12 PM) Cagliostro: "Anything to look for here, or shall we head back?"
(08:30:41 PM) Spot: I will search around a little bit to see if there's anything worth seeing.
(08:31:41 PM) dkap: The houses outside the approximate area of the carnival are normal enough.
(08:32:12 PM) dkap: Tenanted, weaver trace through them, normal, several mirrors each, should you wish to peer/step through.
(08:32:23 PM) Spot: "Iiiiiiiinteresting."
(08:32:27 PM) Cagliostro: nothing else inside the carnival looks especially anomalous or ominous?
(08:32:39 PM) dkap: The space where the carnival is ... is ... uninhabited in the Umbra. Much of what should be there seems to be missing.
(08:32:56 PM) dkap: So not ominous, just ... not.
(08:33:17 PM) dkap: And the mirror you stepped through (and did, right enough) to get here, doesn't seem to exist here enough for you to step back.
(08:34:15 PM) Spot: "It seems the answer is in the tellurian. Shall we return?"
(08:34:42 PM) Cagliostro: "Let's."
(08:35:22 PM) Spot: I will go find a shiny and step back with the count
(08:35:57 PM) dkap: The house you step into, chosen because it is occupied or not?
(08:37:19 PM) Spot: not, is preferred]
(08:37:59 PM) dkap: You step through to an empty house.
(08:38:16 PM) dkap: The bedroom is unexceptional.
(08:38:34 PM) Cagliostro: "Shall we return to the house of mirrors?"
(08:38:38 PM) dkap: Chiffarobe, Bureau, Bed. Closet.
(08:38:49 PM) dkap: Area rug.
(08:39:02 PM) dkap: Bed is made.
(08:39:09 PM) dkap: It's tidy.
(08:40:03 PM) Spot: "Agreed, huse of mirrors."
(08:40:36 PM) dkap: Walk or gate?
(08:40:50 PM) Cagliostro: gate
(08:40:59 PM) Cagliostro: open, check, step through
(08:41:44 PM) dkap: You are back (comfortably) in the hexagon.
(08:42:22 PM) dkap: Any comment, Meiglan, Delna, on their disappearing act?
(08:42:29 PM) ***Spot is back to hmmmming.
(08:43:05 PM) Cagliostro: "So, there's no carnival-analog on the spiritual side of things."
(08:43:19 PM) Cagliostro: "I wonder if this means the spirit world has relocated to this side of things."
(08:43:30 PM) ***Spot startles.
(08:43:32 PM) Meiglan: Well, they did say what they were going to do. It was a bit startling that they disappeared so fast. Is there any reaction in the room when they disappeared?
(08:43:34 PM) ***Cagliostro examines the spirit and the sword with the lens
(08:43:41 PM) Spot: "That would be...very very very bad."
(08:44:16 PM) Delna: "If that is the case, what are our options"
(08:44:30 PM) dkap: The spirit is even more chaotic of form in the lens. The sword, well ... It's Delna's and has her aura resonating in it.
(08:44:59 PM) Meiglan: "Wait, wait, wait...very bad for whom?"
(08:45:05 PM) Cagliostro: "Hm."
(08:45:15 PM) ***Cagliostro offers Delna and Spot the lens in turn.
(08:45:16 PM) Meiglan: "The spirit, or me?"
(08:45:40 PM) Spot: "Probably both."
(08:46:59 PM) Delna: "No matter what happens to this spirit, we have to find a way to get Meiglan out of this thing before the very bad things happen."
(08:47:50 PM) ***Delna takes the lens from the count and looks at the grey blob and the walls of the room
(08:48:05 PM) Meiglan: "Agreed."
(08:48:20 PM) dkap: The walls of the room seem to throb and pulse in the lens.
(08:49:05 PM) Cagliostro: "Don't worry, Meiglan, I have a few ideas we could use in an emergency."
(08:50:19 PM) Meiglan: "I'm not worried. Do I look worried?" It's rather hard to tell, actually.
(08:51:29 PM) ***Spot walks around and touches the walls, curiously.
(08:51:50 PM) dkap: They feel slick, glassy.
(08:51:51 PM) Delna: I will relay the information on the throbbing and pulsing walls
(08:52:23 PM) ***Cagliostro hms.
(08:52:35 PM) Cagliostro: "Well, there's always tradition to fall back on..."
(08:52:41 PM) Delna: I will also mention my previous discovery of seeming to hurt the walls, but that this seemed to make the grey blob decay faster without letting go of meiglan
(08:52:51 PM) Meiglan: "Is there a rhythm to the pulsing?"
(08:52:56 PM) ***Cagliostro creates a ouija board, planchette, and long pole
(08:53:08 PM) Cagliostro: and will push the ouija board + planchette over into the grey blob
(08:53:37 PM) dkap: The pole, once crossing the line, becomes held firm.
(08:53:51 PM) ***Cagliostro lets go of the pole
(08:54:06 PM) dkap: There is a rhythm to the pulsing, yes.
(08:54:12 PM) dkap: The pole stays where it is held.
(08:55:17 PM) Delna: to the Count, "Yeah, unfortunately that's what happened to my sword too"
(08:55:17 PM) Cagliostro: gm: the board and planchette also stay stuck and do not move, I presume?
(08:55:19 PM) dkap: The spirit moves over the board, and the letters rearrange themselves, writhing and rewriting the characters. Unfortunately, not into anything senscical.
(08:55:34 PM) Cagliostro: ah
(08:55:46 PM) Spot: Oooh I'm insane, does it make sense to me?
(08:55:50 PM) ***Spot grins.
(08:55:58 PM) Cagliostro: "Hm."
(08:56:09 PM) dkap: The planchette gets picked up, spun around, knocked against the pole, sword and Meiglan hand a time or two, before bursting astunder, and leaving only flinders behind.
(08:56:16 PM) dkap: Spot, nope.
(08:56:21 PM) Meiglan: "Interesting...so the spirit is controlling what gets stuck in it."
(08:56:30 PM) dkap: Must be a different brand of insanity.
(08:57:01 PM) ***Spot looks at the sword he's carrying and wonders.
(08:57:03 PM) Meiglan: "That almost hurt...tetchy little spirit, isn't it?"
(08:57:32 PM) Spot: "Hey! Spirit! What're you after, then?"
(08:59:00 PM) dkap: The flinders fly up, and spell, in the common tongue a simple word. "Out"
(08:59:25 PM) dkap: They fall back to where they were lying on the floor.
(08:59:34 PM) Cagliostro: gm: does the sword seem to be pinning the spirit, the way the last sword & spirit were?
(08:59:48 PM) dkap: Nope.
(08:59:49 PM) Spot: "We get you out, you let her go?"
(09:00:17 PM) Delna: to the spirit "How? We can't help you if we don't know how. You have to give us a clue."
(09:02:37 PM) dkap: Everything swirls, and then is still again.
(09:02:49 PM) dkap: As if a message would have been created, if there was one to create.
(09:03:42 PM) ***Cagliostro reaches forward and offers a hand to Meiglan
(09:06:28 PM) Meiglan: *Grabs Cagliostro's hand, and tries to pull herself free of the spirit.*
(09:06:42 PM) ***Cagliostro also pulls, firmly but gradually
(09:06:57 PM) dkap: It holds.
(09:07:37 PM) Spot: GM: Can I see any bindings on the spirit itself?
(09:07:40 PM) Spot: Or the area?
(09:08:40 PM) Meiglan: "Maybe we find a way to dismantle the House of Mirrors."
(09:08:53 PM) dkap: Area there is a ... hint.
(09:09:13 PM) Spot: hint? of binding?
(09:09:40 PM) Cagliostro: "Possible. The spirit itself could be bound by all these mirrors."
(09:10:33 PM) Delna: "How do we do so without hurting the spirit which is holding onto meiglan?"
(09:11:04 PM) Spot: "Easy. Block the mirrors."
(09:11:18 PM) Spot: "Put drapes over them or something."
(09:11:31 PM) Meiglan: "that's just crazy enough to work."
(09:11:43 PM) ***Spot grins and bows.
(09:12:01 PM) ***Cagliostro starts conjuring black cloths and draping them over the mirrors
(09:12:13 PM) Cagliostro: "Worth a try."
(09:12:51 PM) dkap: How draping? They go floor to ceiling?
(09:13:10 PM) dkap: Sticky stuff, a la post-it notes?
(09:13:31 PM) Cagliostro: yeah, I'd say some mild stickum
(09:13:55 PM) dkap: They seem to ripple, and then fall.
(09:14:20 PM) ***Cagliostro hms.
(09:14:49 PM) ***Cagliostro conjures a yurt-style enclosure around the group, inside the mirrors
(09:16:07 PM) Cagliostro: (along with a small light on the inside ceiling - battery powered)
(09:17:07 PM) dkap: Is there a center-hole to allow for the center hexagon? Or are you going to occlude it?
(09:17:33 PM) Cagliostro: I think probably occlude, yes
(09:18:38 PM) dkap: It occurs.
(09:19:05 PM) Cagliostro: any visible aftereffects?
(09:20:13 PM) dkap: For a moment it gets really dark, the light is there ... but something draws all the power out of it.
(09:20:19 PM) dkap: Then, there is a snap.
(09:20:44 PM) dkap: Meiglan, you are liberated from the pillar, unfortunately, it appears to have decided to keep your hand.
(09:21:09 PM) dkap: There is a shattering noise and the yurt-top breaks to pieces.
(09:22:19 PM) Cagliostro: "Interesting."
(09:22:25 PM) Cagliostro: gm: deconjure the yurt remains
(09:22:38 PM) Cagliostro: and conjure Meiglan a new hand, matching levels of mystic inertia.
(09:22:49 PM) Meiglan: "Son of a Biscuit!!!"
(09:23:49 PM) dkap: In situ?
(09:24:05 PM) dkap: (I presumed the hand was conjured so.)
(09:24:27 PM) dkap: Meiglan: your hand, after a moment, seems to have grown back, all normal, and connected.
(09:24:33 PM) Cagliostro: Indeed.
(09:24:48 PM) Cagliostro: "That was my plan B, anyway."
(09:25:03 PM) Cagliostro: gm: is the spirit still there?
(09:25:15 PM) Meiglan: Wiggles the fingers, make sure they're working and all. "well, amputation just isn't the handicap it used to be, now is it?"
(09:25:17 PM) dkap: The spirit is still trapped, the sword is halved, and also on the floor.
(09:25:23 PM) dkap: It was the sword snapping that made the noise.
(09:25:40 PM) dkap: Meiglan: It seems everything is fine.
(09:26:16 PM) dkap: The pole is likewise snapped.
(09:26:59 PM) Cagliostro: "There's something here that doesn't like to be cut off from the mirrors."
(09:27:12 PM) Spot: "so it seems"
(09:28:58 PM) Delna: "hmm, is there a way for us to get rid of the mirrors entirely? Cut off whatever this thing's power is?"
(09:29:28 PM) Cagliostro: "We could try to break them, but something reacted pretty poorly to them just being covered..."
(09:31:28 PM) ***Spot hmmms.
(09:31:55 PM) Spot: "Well, I have a very angry sword here.... I could try to break one..."
(09:33:04 PM) Cagliostro: 'You can try it... I'll ward the rest of us.'
(09:33:13 PM) ***Cagliostro steps slightly away and brings up a ward
(09:33:52 PM) dkap: I presume away from the central pillar, now that Meiglan is no longer bound to it, right?
(09:34:41 PM) Spot: Oh yes
(09:34:50 PM) Spot: I don't want to be bound to it either
(09:35:14 PM) Spot: I'll find a nice, faraway mirror and try to crack it with the sword.
(09:35:28 PM) Cagliostro: yes
(09:36:41 PM) dkap: The sword really enjoys the strike and vibrates all the more The screaming moans from the center grow louder and more desperate, and then the mirrored surface is gone, a ... fleshy sort of torn thing hanging in it's place.
(09:37:12 PM) dkap: Black, oily blood dripping down the sword.
(09:37:23 PM) Cagliostro: "That was... not what I expected."
(09:37:42 PM) dkap: And then, a moment later, the mirror, back, as if nothing happened.
(09:39:05 PM) Spot: "Ooooooh. Cool."
(09:39:23 PM) Spot: I angle the sword down so as not to get that on me.
(09:40:07 PM) Cagliostro: gm: What can i tell about the blood?
(09:40:16 PM) dkap: Where the blood drips on the floor, it was as if the wood drank it, with no trace.
(09:41:09 PM) Meiglan: Is the blood affecting the sword? Corroding it or anything?
(09:41:10 PM) dkap: Viscous, a bit on the acidic side, high in protiens, complex cell pattern, high mystic inertia, but not overly high ...
(09:41:23 PM) Cagliostro: obviously human or inhuman?
(09:41:23 PM) dkap: The blood doesn't seem to be effecting the sword at all, no.
(09:41:34 PM) dkap: Not human by any stretch of the imagination.
(09:41:53 PM) Delna: what has happened to the thing in the center?
(09:41:55 PM) Cagliostro: nothing terrestrial?
(09:42:07 PM) dkap: Spot, in staring at the blood, it reminds you of tainted wyrm blood.
(09:42:32 PM) dkap: The thing in the center is much more disappated than it was before.
(09:42:39 PM) ***Spot hmms and looks at the mirrors again.
(09:42:47 PM) Spot: GM: Spiral?
(09:42:50 PM) dkap: The flinders are barely stirring, but they spell out "help"
(09:43:18 PM) dkap: It doesn't seem to have the taint in it, just ... resembles what tainted wyrm blood looks like.
(09:43:37 PM) Delna: "We have to find a way to get this thing out before we kill the house of mirrors."
(09:43:38 PM) dkap: Count: could be terrestrial, its made of the same carbon chains and all.
(09:43:54 PM) Cagliostro: okay, so perhaps once-human, but not currently-human.
(09:44:06 PM) Cagliostro: gm: take back the lens and examine that central octagonal panel
(09:44:21 PM) dkap: Or once whale, or other mammal, or even marsupial ...
(09:44:23 PM) Spot: "It kinda looks like wyrm-taint in the blood, but it sn't."
(09:44:27 PM) Spot: "Very weird."
(09:44:27 PM) Delna: I look at the blob and where the pole and my sword broke off. Is there anything visible trapping it, or any connection between where the other items broker earlier?
(09:44:42 PM) dkap: Hexagonal, and, in the lens, it's completely opaque.
(09:45:16 PM) dkap: In the lens the center area is most definitely there, and opaque, right where the things broke off.
(09:45:38 PM) dkap: Sort of the same pulsy-opaque as the walls.
(09:46:31 PM) Delna: "It seems like this might be where we should focus our efforts..but I worry about Spot's sword getting stuck like mine.."
(09:46:59 PM) Cagliostro: "The sword used to be that eviscerating thing. I wouldn't worry about it."
(09:48:20 PM) Delna: "...Oh...well then"
(09:48:22 PM) Spot: "Yes, but. We should be concerned should the sword break."
(09:48:35 PM) Cagliostro: "Hm. Good point."
(09:48:36 PM) dkap: Unless ... it does occur to you that if the sword breaks, the evicerator would be free, in these very close proximity.
(09:48:46 PM) dkap: Exactly.
(09:48:51 PM) Spot: GM: Waaaaaay ahead of you on that one. :P
(09:49:13 PM) Cagliostro: gm: Do the mirrors have that pulsy-opaque as well?
(09:50:00 PM) Delna: When the drapes were put up we covered the outer mirrors and the inner hexagon, correct?
(09:50:34 PM) Cagliostro: I think we just started to cover the outer mirrors, and they fell off
(09:50:36 PM) dkap: Just the outer mirrors.
(09:50:40 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(09:51:10 PM) Delna: "Should we try just covering the inner hexagon?"
(09:51:24 PM) Spot: We can
(09:51:34 PM) Spot: "It might accomplish something."
(09:51:57 PM) ***Cagliostro conjures drapes over the inner hexagon
(09:52:04 PM) Cagliostro: and keeps an eye on the spirit
(09:52:52 PM) dkap: The drapes go up, and stay up.
(09:53:06 PM) dkap: And get all stiff, where they touched the inner hexagon.
(09:53:16 PM) Delna: .
(09:53:42 PM) ***Spot watches the sprit.
(09:54:20 PM) Delna: (haha, my cat decided to play too)
(09:55:12 PM) dkap: You can no longer see the spirit thorough the curtains.
(09:55:29 PM) Spot: "I hope that means free..."
(09:56:01 PM) Cagliostro: "Doubt it, really."
(09:56:13 PM) Cagliostro: "But it may change things for the better somewhat."
(09:56:38 PM) Spot: "Well, I do not like being in here."
(09:56:41 PM) dkap: You can still hear the moans and wails, though.
(09:57:03 PM) Delna: "Should we try again with the covers on the outer mirrors?"
(09:57:39 PM) Cagliostro: "Sure."
(09:57:48 PM) ***Cagliostro recovers the outer mirrors, the same as before
(09:58:34 PM) dkap: Same as before, slides off before too many moments have passed.
(09:59:01 PM) Spot: Can we turn the mirrors?
(10:00:26 PM) dkap: How turn?
(10:00:44 PM) dkap: They seem to be built into the House, stretching from floor to ceiling.
(10:01:36 PM) Spot: hmmm
(10:01:46 PM) dkap: Even when they appeared between you or another member of the party, as you wended your way inward, it was an instant thing, one moment open, the next sealed, and the count's gate was all that kept you together as a party.
(10:02:03 PM) Cagliostro: I'll try conjuring more cloth walls between us andthe outer mirrors
(10:02:05 PM) dkap: Linking one side of the new mirror or glass to the other.
(10:02:09 PM) Cagliostro: meeting up with those top drapes
(10:02:27 PM) dkap: Sticking them to the ceiling?
(10:02:33 PM) dkap: Or with their own standing structure?
(10:03:55 PM) Cagliostro: own standing structure
(10:03:59 PM) Cagliostro: but up to the ceiling
(10:04:30 PM) dkap: They stay in place, unbothered, unshrugged.
(10:04:44 PM) Meiglan: There any change in the wailing?
(10:06:41 PM) dkap: Nope.
(10:07:20 PM) Cagliostro: "We could try the other way... bringing in light and not darkness."
(10:07:28 PM) dkap: No changes to circumstance, besides there is now a curtain up between you folks and the mirrors, and a solid thing-that-used-to-be-a-curtain up around the center pillar.
(10:07:39 PM) dkap: It _is_ dark.
(10:07:40 PM) Cagliostro: "Although that might not be the healthiest for everyone."
(10:08:30 PM) Spot: Spot nods.
(10:08:40 PM) Spot: "Pretties won't like it."
(10:08:51 PM) Meiglan: "Well, we don't seem to have the same pesky issues with light...however I'd rather not see how far that goes."
(10:09:20 PM) Cagliostro: "I could gate you elsewhere for a quick experiment."
(10:11:08 PM) Delna: "Probably worth a try. We don't have many other things to try right now."
(10:12:26 PM) Cagliostro: gm: gate them elsehwere (somewhere dark), close the gate, get rid of the drapes etc., put on some glare protectors (and hand same to Spot) and then gate in some serious light
(10:12:27 PM) dkap: Gate happens without a problem.
(10:12:44 PM) dkap: Light happens without a problem.
(10:12:46 PM) Cagliostro: I figure the Ifrit are definitely fine, but if I'm unsure, they'll get glare protectors too
(10:12:46 PM) ***Spot will wear the shades.
(10:12:50 PM) dkap: Doesn't seem to effect much.
(10:12:59 PM) dkap: The Ifrit are, indeed fine.
(10:13:02 PM) Spot: But we look cool.
(10:13:11 PM) dkap: Spot's shades add to the cool-ness factor.
(10:14:02 PM) Cagliostro: gm: any apparent change in the spirit?
(10:15:46 PM) dkap: Not really, no.
(10:16:01 PM) dkap: Visually hidden, but the wailing and moaning hasn't changed.
(10:16:17 PM) Cagliostro: hidden by what?
(10:16:21 PM) dkap: Are you going to up the light to coherent, columnated levels?
(10:16:33 PM) dkap: The inner set of things that are no longer drapes.
(10:16:43 PM) Cagliostro: can't I get rid of those too?
(10:16:49 PM) Cagliostro: or do they not deconjure anymore?
(10:17:07 PM) dkap: They do not deconjure anymore, no.
(10:18:24 PM) ***Cagliostro hms.
(10:18:34 PM) Cagliostro: okay, kick the light up three! more! triangles!
(10:18:44 PM) ***Spot tans.
(10:18:50 PM) Cagliostro: more coherent energy, maybe bringing in something closer to the darkoveran suns
(10:19:47 PM) dkap: It gets brighter and brighter. Spot, you are convinced you are going to have some ... interesting tan-lines.
(10:20:09 PM) dkap: There is a "POP" and then the mirrors/glass catches fire.
(10:20:29 PM) dkap: And it's conflaguration level, not just smoldering.
(10:20:44 PM) ***Cagliostro wards like crazy
(10:20:52 PM) Cagliostro: "Shall we watch this from outside?"
(10:20:59 PM) Cagliostro: "Or in?"
(10:21:03 PM) dkap: The floor is burning, the ceiling is burning, it might be best to step out, umbra-wards, or gate-wards.
(10:21:21 PM) dkap: Oh, and you probably have to create oxygen to keep breathing.
(10:21:38 PM) dkap: (not that you wouldn't do so, out of simple habit ...)
(10:22:24 PM) Cagliostro: (true, about the oxygen.)
(10:22:35 PM) Spot: "Out is good!"
(10:22:38 PM) ***Spot coughs.
(10:23:58 PM) ***Cagliostro gates outside the house
(10:24:08 PM) Cagliostro: and wards around the amusement park, so the fire doesn't spread
(10:24:20 PM) ***Cagliostro opens a gate back up for Delna and Meiglan
(10:24:33 PM) Cagliostro: "So, the good news is that a lot of light had an effect."
(10:25:00 PM) ***Spot coughs some more.
(10:25:03 PM) Cagliostro: "If your light allergy has gotten better, you can take a look at the other news."
(10:25:10 PM) Spot: "And that it /coughs/ burns well."
(10:25:44 PM) Delna: gm, I assume we are still able to walk around in this light?
(10:25:51 PM) dkap: Indeed, you are.
(10:26:02 PM) Meiglan: takes a look. Shudders and looks away. "Yeah, fire."
(10:26:16 PM) dkap: And it is going up, quite nicely. The heat doesn't really reach out of the house ...
(10:26:39 PM) dkap: (Somewhere, Frank is going. "Fire. Why does it always have to be fire ...")
(10:27:21 PM) Delna: gm, can I sense the spirit's life essence or anything, whether or not it was freed or is trapped in there?
(10:27:29 PM) dkap: After almost 10 minutes of intense heat, that smells ... well ... admittedly like burning flesh, there is left a single, dark column in the center.
(10:27:38 PM) dkap: The wailing is no more.
(10:28:39 PM) ***Cagliostro hms.
(10:28:47 PM) ***Spot sighs.
(10:29:24 PM) dkap: The ceiling and floor are gone. There is some ... carbon crispness on the ground, a bit deeper than the floor was, as if something was curled up in a hole, about as big as the House of Mirrors was.
(10:29:33 PM) Meiglan: Looks around to see if the spirit has somehow escaped.
(10:29:44 PM) dkap: No sign of it around.
(10:31:14 PM) Cagliostro: "Spot, what say you to a quick umbral check?"
(10:31:37 PM) Spot: "We can do that. Back to the house, and it's mirror?"
(10:32:25 PM) ***Cagliostro creates a mirror in what used to be the house
(10:32:26 PM) Cagliostro: "Sure."
(10:33:24 PM) dkap: Ahh ... I believe spot meant, in the house outside the carnival, not the House of Mirrors, here ...
(10:33:35 PM) dkap: But you created a mirror, regardless, and that should do .. I believe.
(10:33:49 PM) ***Spot shrugs and takes the Count through.
(10:35:29 PM) dkap: There is a very pretty ... medusa-like being coiling and uncoiling herself in the space that would correspond to the central column.
(10:35:39 PM) dkap: More snake than human.
(10:36:07 PM) ***Cagliostro bows politely.
(10:36:16 PM) Cagliostro: (and fails to meet her eyes)
(10:37:19 PM) ***Spot grins. "Hello pretty." Also avoids eyes.
(10:37:52 PM) dkap: She coils upward at spots greeting and hisses "Almost free .... almost free ...."
(10:38:15 PM) dkap: Her own reflection in Spot's mirrorshades doesn't seem to harm her.
(10:40:12 PM) Cagliostro: "Spot, do you want to get Delna and Meiglan so we can make introductions?"
(10:41:51 PM) Spot: "Almost?
(10:42:06 PM) Spot: "Sure count."
(10:42:38 PM) ***Spot will dive back through to get Meiglan and Delna. "Count wants you on the other side. Ready?"
(10:43:07 PM) dkap: You convey them through, any warning about what is on the other side?
(10:43:38 PM) Cagliostro: gm: to be on the safe side, spot will have two extra sets of mirrorshades when he finishes stepping through
(10:43:47 PM) Cagliostro: yay, conjuration on the far side of the gauntlet
(10:43:48 PM) Spot: "Don't look her in the eyes."
(10:45:10 PM) dkap: You can't actually conjur across the gauntlet, no.
(10:45:50 PM) Cagliostro: gm: I have in the past, when looking through the lens
(10:46:06 PM) Cagliostro: that's how we made it out of the Umbra near the edge, over the water
(10:46:13 PM) dkap: Hrm ... in that case, I guess you can.
(10:46:27 PM) dkap: Right, right. Then you can. Not a problem. I had forgotten.
(10:47:02 PM) Meiglan: Takes Spots advice. "Hey, you still look stuck."
(10:47:06 PM) Cagliostro: np ;)
(10:47:24 PM) Cagliostro: it's only important that one of us remember
(10:47:36 PM) dkap: Indeed. And the logs do, when we both fail.
(10:48:13 PM) dkap: Meiglan: She looks at you, and says "Your hand still pins me! Please ... let me go?"
(10:49:35 PM) Meiglan: Can I see my hand?
(10:49:50 PM) dkap: The ones attached? Yes.
(10:50:47 PM) Meiglan: I take it I can't see the unattached one.
(10:51:42 PM) dkap: Not here.
(10:54:40 PM) Meiglan: "I think I need to go back and see if my hand is still there."
(10:54:56 PM) Spot: "It should have burned."
(10:55:50 PM) dkap: The black column that was the center piece was still intact ...
(10:57:47 PM) Spot: "Well I can bring you all back over again."
(11:00:15 PM) Cagliostro: "Perhaps in a minute."
(11:00:26 PM) Cagliostro: to the medusa: "What is that central pillar?"
(11:00:35 PM) dkap: My prison.
(11:01:56 PM) Cagliostro: "Who created it?"
(11:03:08 PM) dkap: A wordless name.
(11:03:31 PM) dkap: As it flowed from multiple of her lips, and snakes lips, it ... well ... was chiling.
(11:03:57 PM) Cagliostro: gm: so, basically completely unfamiliar to me, in general or in particular?
(11:04:41 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(11:04:59 PM) Cagliostro: okay. "Damaging the pillar would not hurt you, then?"
(11:05:24 PM) dkap: "It might finish freeing me, at last. After 3 centuries."
(11:06:33 PM) Cagliostro: "Indeed."
(11:07:34 PM) Cagliostro: "If we do succeed in freeing you, you will be expected to treat others as you wish to be treated. I would not want to free you, only to see harm come to innocents."
(11:07:53 PM) Cagliostro: to Spot: "Shall we go get her hand back?"
(11:08:50 PM) dkap: "I do not wish to harm any, my taste for revenge is long since burnt from my tongue, and, my only lover perished years ago, in the self-same trap in which I've been kept."
(11:10:26 PM) Cagliostro: "My sympathies."
(11:11:33 PM) dkap: "My lifeforce has been fed upon for so long, I even doubt my immortality now.
(11:13:56 PM) Cagliostro: gm: you figure it's about time to wrap?
(11:15:27 PM) dkap: Sure ... That makes sense. Everyone is slowing. And you can puzzle the last bit out over the week.
(11:15:32 PM) Cagliostro: sure
(11:15:35 PM) Cagliostro: excellent
(11:15:38 PM) dkap: Any last actions?
(11:16:05 PM) Meiglan: snoring?
(11:16:08 PM) Cagliostro: heh
(11:16:11 PM) Cagliostro left the room.
(11:16:19 PM) dkap: That counts.
(11:17:03 PM) Delna: night
(11:17:08 PM) Delna left the room (quit: Read error: EOF from client).
(11:17:47 PM) Meiglan: night night
(11:17:51 PM) Meiglan left the room (quit: Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.86 [Firefox 3.5.2/20090729225027]).

(08:17:53 PM) mode (+o dkap) by ChanServ
(08:18:15 PM) Cagliostro: yay, gm sign
(08:18:21 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(08:18:40 PM) dkap: Sorry about that. The box insisted that it be upgraded before I could continue. Something about a kernel security patch ...
(08:19:35 PM) Cagliostro: it happens
(08:20:52 PM) dkap: And I just got a bunch of the logs onto the server.
(08:20:56 PM) dkap: So we can see where we were ...
(08:21:01 PM) Cagliostro: excellent
(08:36:56 PM) Caelin [~arkhon@adsl-75-36-186-197.dsl.pltn13.sbcglobal.net] entered the room.
(08:36:59 PM) Cagliostro: so I think we were stepping sidways to get someone her hand back
(08:37:05 PM) Cagliostro: but there may be something going on in Caelinland
(08:37:20 PM) Cagliostro: meiglan. not her hand back for her, just jiggling the handle on the pillar
(08:37:22 PM) ***Caelin waves
(08:37:28 PM) dkap: Delna and Meiglan will join us soonest.
(08:37:35 PM) Caelin: Where the devil IS Caelinland?
(08:37:56 PM) dkap: Somewhere far away, often saturated by Circe ... not a pleasant place.
(08:38:01 PM) Auricle: Caelinland...is....yes
(08:38:10 PM) dkap: Although the Whagons were enjoying it for a while.
(08:38:24 PM) ***Caelin sticks his tongue out.
(08:38:43 PM) Delna [~chatzilla@c-71-228-78-177.hsd1.fl.comcast.net] entered the room.
(08:39:20 PM) Cagliostro: hello, Delna
(08:39:47 PM) Delna: Hi
(08:42:26 PM) dkap: And then there were more ...
(08:42:44 PM) dkap: Meiglan should be by in a moment or three, but with three, we can begin.
(08:42:54 PM) dkap: I believe the hand was the last obstical?
(08:43:36 PM) Auricle is now known as Spot
(08:43:39 PM) Cagliostro: that is what we were told
(08:45:12 PM) Delna left the room (quit: Ping timeout).
(08:45:53 PM) Delna [~chatzilla@c-71-228-78-177.hsd1.fl.comcast.net] entered the room.
(08:46:50 PM) Delna: hmm, strange. Not sure why the disconnect
(08:47:41 PM) dkap: It happens sometimes.
(08:52:24 PM) Caelin left the room (quit: Read error: EOF from client).
(08:53:00 PM) dkap: See, even to Caelin.
(08:53:51 PM) Delna: heheh, like a yawn, it spreads
(08:56:57 PM) Delna: "Does anyone have any ideas for destroying or dispersing the column? Physical damage seems to be somewhat out of the question.."
(08:58:25 PM) Spot: "I'm not even sure what it is."
(09:03:15 PM) Spot: "Or why it didn't burn."
(09:08:25 PM) Cagliostro: I think the thing to do is to step sideways and take a look at what's left
(09:08:36 PM) Cagliostro: it may be different than it was before
(09:08:36 PM) Spot: "Okay."
(09:08:44 PM) Spot: I can ferry folks over.
(09:10:25 PM) dkap: I believe you had stepped sideways, which is why you met the snake-lady ... who was trapped, and said revenge was dust.
(09:11:02 PM) Spot: I thought he meant, back to real world look at pillar now that it isn't on fire
(09:11:53 PM) dkap: Ahh ... right.
(09:11:58 PM) dkap: Sorry, I lost track.
(09:13:00 PM) Meiglan [~chatzilla@72.170.197.76] entered the room.
(09:14:10 PM) dkap: And then there was 4. *grin*
(09:15:26 PM) Cagliostro: I did mean that
(09:15:29 PM) Cagliostro: it's sideways bothw ays
(09:15:44 PM) Cagliostro: just a step to the right...
(09:15:54 PM) dkap: And bring your knees in tight?
(09:15:59 PM) ***Cagliostro keeps his hands off Spot's ... hips.
(09:16:04 PM) Cagliostro: indeed.
(09:16:16 PM) Spot: Very smart
(09:16:58 PM) dkap: I spent a good portion of this past Saturday with some of one of the Rocky Horror/Dr Horrible sing along/Repo the Genetic Opera casts.
(09:17:09 PM) Meiglan: no pelvic thrusting..not at least until I get chocolate!
(09:17:45 PM) dkap: On your pelvis?
(09:19:07 PM) Meiglan: hmmmm...interesting idea, that.
(09:19:50 PM) dkap: Might the spikes get in the way?
(09:20:04 PM) Cagliostro: so, not speaking of pelvic chocolate, how's the pillar faring?
(09:20:35 PM) dkap: Still there, still covered in the cloth-that-isn't-cloth.
(09:20:52 PM) dkap: Untouched, unscorched, and no one brave enough to lay (another) hand on it at the moment.
(09:21:06 PM) dkap: Still in the pit, around it, as well.
(09:21:08 PM) Cagliostro: "Hm."
(09:21:14 PM) Spot: "Hmmmmmm."
(09:21:25 PM) Spot: (extra Mmmms give it more power.)
(09:21:53 PM) dkap: The Power of Ms compels you?
(09:22:57 PM) Delna: I would like to pick up a rock and chuck it at the pillar..does it get stuck in it?
(09:23:17 PM) dkap: Yep.
(09:24:17 PM) Delna: "Do you think we can get underneath or above the pillar? To see what's going on inside of it?"
(09:25:06 PM) Spot: GM: Is this a tent?
(09:25:10 PM) dkap: Above is easy.
(09:25:12 PM) dkap: No tent.
(09:25:17 PM) Spot: house of mirrors
(09:25:19 PM) Spot: right
(09:25:29 PM) dkap: House burned entirely away, pillar is all that's left.
(09:25:30 PM) Cagliostro: and the house burned down
(09:25:33 PM) Spot: I can fly up and get an angle on it.
(09:25:42 PM) Spot: but not over it
(09:25:45 PM) Cagliostro: "Digging is interesting... the trick is to avoid hitting it."
(09:25:51 PM) Cagliostro: gm: is the pillar a constant width?
(09:25:55 PM) Spot: that seems like a bad idea, over.
(09:26:41 PM) dkap: Yes, constant width.
(09:27:49 PM) Cagliostro: gm: what's the consistency of the ground?
(09:27:52 PM) Spot: Is there anything up on top of it?
(09:27:59 PM) Cagliostro: to spot: "We could throw a rock over it, and see what happens"
(09:28:12 PM) dkap: Dirt.
(09:28:14 PM) Meiglan: "That's just what I was thinking."
(09:28:25 PM) ***Spot shrugs and tosses a rock over the top of it.
(09:28:27 PM) dkap: Nothing ... easily seen, without going directly over it. It seems ... well ... clear.
(09:28:48 PM) dkap: It goes into the pillar space.
(09:29:10 PM) dkap: (I almost typed "Pilar" by old habit, thankfully Caelin has become disconnected ...)
(09:29:32 PM) Cagliostro: (old habits indeed.)
(09:30:14 PM) dkap: It does not stick at the top.
(09:30:27 PM) dkap: But it also doesn't make noise once it's passed the pillar edge.
(09:30:43 PM) Spot: "Oh that's weird."
(09:30:47 PM) Cagliostro: gm: does it come out the other side?
(09:30:48 PM) Spot: GM: Does it land?
(09:31:51 PM) dkap: It does not come out the other side, and, as for landing, you'd have to be above the pillar and looking down to see.
(09:33:18 PM) Cagliostro: "Hm."
(09:33:24 PM) ***Cagliostro looks at the person with wings.
(09:33:32 PM) Spot: "I am so not flying above that."
(09:34:46 PM) ***Cagliostro hms.
(09:34:53 PM) Delna: "We would risk losing contact at the least with any person who attempted to fly over...any way to send a camera that could feed a picture back to us..?"
(09:35:16 PM) ***Cagliostro conjures a periscope three times the height of the tower, looking down.
(09:35:37 PM) Cagliostro: gm: how unusual is it that we didn't have to warn off any firefighters when the house burned down?
(09:35:43 PM) Cagliostro: (looking down at an angle)
(09:35:54 PM) Cagliostro: the periscope is built into a metal scaffolding frame
(09:36:09 PM) dkap: Come to think of it, being in this neighborhood, and the time of day, very unusual that no one called in an alarm.
(09:36:12 PM) dkap: But no one did.
(09:36:32 PM) dkap: True periscope, or just bent optics so you can look straight down into the space?
(09:36:58 PM) Cagliostro: hm.
(09:37:06 PM) Cagliostro: I don't think Cagliostro has the tech for fiber optics.
(09:37:16 PM) Cagliostro: So yeah, a couple of mirrors and an eyepiece
(09:37:21 PM) dkap: The pillar is just about 12 feet tall, level with the ground, taller, of course, now that there is a ditch, to about 18 feet.
(09:37:53 PM) Cagliostro: so maybe 20' away, adjustable magnification, maybe 50' high
(09:38:05 PM) dkap: Not the fiber-optics, just good prisims, like in a periscope, but a periscope is simply bent twice, so your "forward" is up a few yards.
(09:38:27 PM) dkap: Whereas, you are trying to look down and in ... so I'm asking if it's bent appropriately ...
(09:38:49 PM) Cagliostro: I think so
(09:38:54 PM) Cagliostro: to look down and in
(09:38:58 PM) Cagliostro: but not directly over and down
(09:39:02 PM) dkap: And if you are using the equivalent of a pin-hole camera to project the image at the bottom-side, in case there really is a gorgon in there ...
(09:39:05 PM) Cagliostro: down at an angle, so we can see the top, if there is a top
(09:39:12 PM) Cagliostro: that does seem prudent
(09:39:21 PM) Cagliostro: my initial plan was to just let someone else look first ;)
(09:39:27 PM) dkap: There doesn't seem to be a top, but that was verified by Spot's fly-near.
(09:39:28 PM) Cagliostro: but the pinhole camera is also good
(09:39:36 PM) Cagliostro: and the mirror is also good
(09:40:21 PM) Cagliostro: gm: that wasnt' clear... probably set up the periscope + pinhole, and throw another rock over the pillar
(09:40:40 PM) dkap: You can see in the top. see the rock descend properly, under the influence of gravity.
(09:41:23 PM) dkap: Just as if you had thrown it into a giant (say 1200 gallon) drum.
(09:42:39 PM) Cagliostro: gm: can I throw a rock over the rock so it goes directly over the top of the pillar but not in?
(09:42:44 PM) Cagliostro: or does it always get drawn in?
(09:43:17 PM) Cagliostro: "I hope we're not ticking off a Gorgon by throwing rocks on her."
(09:44:37 PM) dkap: Sure, the rock sails right over the top of the pillar, no noticeable deviation from it's expected arc.
(09:45:18 PM) Cagliostro: "Hm."
(09:46:22 PM) Spot: "Agreed. Hmmm is right."
(09:47:01 PM) Cagliostro: "Somehow going in there doesn't seem like it's going to help."
(09:47:08 PM) Delna: To the count, "Can you throw it over to the other side of the pillar while I am standing on the other side of it?"
(09:47:29 PM) ***Cagliostro shrugs, moves to the appropriate location, and throws the rock so.
(09:47:35 PM) Cagliostro: (gently)
(09:48:52 PM) dkap: It moves as expected, and lands (unless otherwise intereferred with) at Spot's feet.
(09:49:49 PM) Spot: "I have a rock."
(09:50:30 PM) Cagliostro: gm: did I throw it to Spot or to Delna?
(09:50:39 PM) dkap: Sorry, Delna's feet.
(09:50:44 PM) dkap: I lost track for the moment.
(09:50:49 PM) Spot: "I lied."
(09:50:52 PM) ***Spot grins.
(09:51:00 PM) Cagliostro: heh.
(09:51:09 PM) ***Cagliostro is not quite sure how you could confuse the two ;)
(09:51:14 PM) Cagliostro: so, okay.
(09:51:23 PM) Cagliostro: "Ideas that don't involve someone going in there?"
(09:51:31 PM) dkap: Or above there?
(09:52:57 PM) Cagliostro: well, not me, at least.
(09:53:27 PM) Cagliostro: if we have no alternatives, I may backup an Ifrit and ask them to climb over and take a look
(09:53:36 PM) Cagliostro: after creating the appropriate scaffolding
(09:53:42 PM) Cagliostro: "Anyone?"
(09:53:43 PM) Spot: "Ifrits seem like a good idea."
(09:55:26 PM) dkap: Perhaps, also with a pair of mirrored sunglasses?
(09:55:46 PM) Cagliostro: gm: mirrored sunglasses, and a mirror
(09:56:01 PM) Cagliostro: actually, probably not mirrored sunglasses, that would be antisocial
(09:56:13 PM) Cagliostro: buta mirror, so they can reflect looking down
(09:56:36 PM) Cagliostro: gm: so do I have a volunteer among the local Ifrit?
(09:57:20 PM) dkap: They do a complicated version of rock-paper-scissors, and one of them wins the right to volunteer for such service to You.
(09:57:39 PM) dkap: The Ongoing Creatrix.
(09:59:40 PM) Cagliostro: gm: set up some more scaffolding
(09:59:51 PM) Cagliostro: and send them up with a mirror strapped to their arm
(10:00:05 PM) dkap: Although, why not bend the optics such that you can have whatever is down, projected in your little box?
(10:00:26 PM) Cagliostro: and some sort of glasses that constrain their view to a limited forward area
(10:00:31 PM) Cagliostro: not quite blinders, but the same principles
(10:00:47 PM) dkap: That way you test the permeability of the air over the pillar, at the same time as you gather intel ...
(10:01:29 PM) Cagliostro: gm: because I'm using a minion ;)
(10:02:54 PM) dkap: True, I'm just suggesting what might be somewhat obvious to you not even risking an ifrit, or preperatory to risking the ifrit.
(10:04:45 PM) Cagliostro: hm.
(10:05:09 PM) Cagliostro: I guess it is mirrored, isn't it?
(10:05:36 PM) Cagliostro: so okay, before the scaffolding, I can change the periscope
(10:05:41 PM) dkap: It is.
(10:05:56 PM) Cagliostro: so that it can be lowed down directly over the pillar, looking down
(10:06:03 PM) Cagliostro: since I don'twant to conjure directly over the pillar
(10:06:42 PM) dkap: Indeed, it can.
(10:06:44 PM) Cagliostro: then I'll lower the periscope - probably semi-automatically, with a ratchet to make it stop, so I'm not directly controlling it - and then get an Ifrit to look into the periscope and down the pillar
(10:07:41 PM) dkap: Good good.
(10:08:08 PM) dkap: The Ifrit sees the cloud of smoke.
(10:08:24 PM) Cagliostro: does she see a hand?
(10:08:29 PM) dkap: And the hand, and several rocks.
(10:08:44 PM) ***Cagliostro hms.
(10:08:48 PM) dkap: A bit of sword, the remains of the ouiji board ....
(10:09:09 PM) Cagliostro: gm: can I conjure one of those funhouse claws on the part of the periscope leaning over the pillar?
(10:09:16 PM) Cagliostro: with more of a scoop than just a claw
(10:10:29 PM) dkap: Not without conjuring over the pillar. But if you want to make a separate crane, and then swing it over ...
(10:11:06 PM) Cagliostro: yeah, that sounds good
(10:11:16 PM) Cagliostro: I will creat the control system while I'm at it
(10:11:24 PM) Cagliostro: joystick, down button, up button, the classics
(10:11:54 PM) dkap: *grin*
(10:12:07 PM) dkap: One crane-machine, without the fun toys later ...
(10:13:34 PM) Cagliostro: so the Ifrit will try to get Meiglan's hand
(10:14:39 PM) dkap: Steered by the image in the periscope, the crane dips down, and plucks Meiglan's hand forth.
(10:15:02 PM) dkap: It gets near the top, begins whining at the pull, seems to get near to straining point, and then, pops clear.
(10:15:22 PM) Cagliostro: gm: with the hand?
(10:15:28 PM) dkap: The smoke all of a sudden is gone from the view in the periscope.
(10:15:32 PM) dkap: (yes, with the hand)
(10:15:42 PM) Cagliostro: "That was unexpectedly straightforward."
(10:16:38 PM) Meiglan: "My hand! Now I have three...."
(10:16:42 PM) dkap: A crane and a periscope, mirrored connections, and a tonne-and-a-half pull was straight-forward?
(10:16:53 PM) Cagliostro: don't forget the arson first
(10:16:53 PM) dkap: Right.
(10:16:54 PM) Cagliostro: but yes ;)
(10:16:59 PM) dkap: Arson first did help.
(10:17:00 PM) dkap: *grin*
(10:17:20 PM) Cagliostro: "Souvenier?"
(10:17:24 PM) Spot: "Three hands is excellent."
(10:17:39 PM) Cagliostro: "Shall we step back across and see what effect we've had?"
(10:17:50 PM) Delna: "Good idea."
(10:17:55 PM) Cagliostro: (donning the protective glasses first)
(10:18:52 PM) dkap: Meiglan: now you can clap, and give someone the finger at the same time ... *grin*
(10:20:00 PM) dkap: As you step through, the snake-lady has definitely moved. She is meandering off ...
(10:20:26 PM) Spot: "Excellent...I hope."
(10:20:55 PM) dkap: Do you catch her attention?
(10:21:04 PM) dkap: Or endeavor to do so?
(10:21:34 PM) ***Cagliostro is fine not doing so
(10:23:13 PM) Delna: Same
(10:24:06 PM) dkap: Spot?
(10:24:11 PM) Spot: I have no need of it
(10:24:13 PM) dkap: And do you want to find out her plan?
(10:24:45 PM) Cagliostro: "We could follow her?"
(10:25:01 PM) dkap: What this unbound gorgon is going to do in the Umbra, in the Dreaming?
(10:25:24 PM) Spot: "And get stoned? There are easier ways."
(10:25:30 PM) Meiglan: "Perhaps we could simply ask..."
(10:26:26 PM) Delna: "It would probably be the prudent thing to do."
(10:27:04 PM) Cagliostro: "Apparently so."
(10:28:27 PM) ***Cagliostro fails to be the person who gets the gorgon's attention.
(10:29:36 PM) dkap: *grin*
(10:29:49 PM) Spot: "Don't look at me."
(10:30:20 PM) Cagliostro: "My point exactly."
(10:30:21 PM) dkap: I think that's what everyone hopes for ... *grin*
(10:32:56 PM) Delna: to the gorgon, looking away, "Where will you go now?"
(10:33:42 PM) dkap: She swings around, and approaches you folks: "Are you the ones responsible for my freeing?"
(10:34:23 PM) Delna: Still looking away, "Yes."
(10:35:27 PM) dkap: She says: "Then your powers are much greater than mine, and I don't expect you'll ever need it, but I owe you each a service."
(10:36:35 PM) dkap: She sighs: "And, not that I _desire_ to ask another favor, but ... any of you know where an old lady can get a job in this day and age? I have a feeling I'm going to want food and the like, and one does hate having to take what might be exchanged honestly."
(10:36:59 PM) Spot: "...job?"
(10:37:55 PM) dkap: She says: "Work of some sort? For Barter for goods?"
(10:38:24 PM) ***Cagliostro is slightly surprised.
(10:38:48 PM) Cagliostro: "You are not a creature native to this magical dimension, this 'Umbra', then?"
(10:39:56 PM) dkap: Gorgon: "Normally I fray between this place and the other ... but I'm somewhat out of practice, and wanted to put quite a bit of space between myself and the trap, before I even looked into the world again."
(10:40:50 PM) Cagliostro: "Reasonable."
(10:41:49 PM) Cagliostro: "I certainly do believe that an arrangement can be made, learning what we can about this place. You are not the first trapped spirit we have stumbled across recently."
(10:43:31 PM) ***Spot nods.
(10:43:41 PM) Spot: "There seems to be a lot of them, actually."
(10:43:48 PM) dkap: She says: "Excellent, shall I follow you then? Or ... go somewhere to meet you?"
(10:44:48 PM) dkap: She says: "Perhaps I can help you free the others so trapped? I know what it means to be trapped, and I'd be happy to do what I can, even if it is simply to talk to them until you can figure out how to work them free from their particular trap."
(10:45:24 PM) Cagliostro: "We have freed anyone else we have found that is trapped, but having stumbled across two so quickly, I am concerned that there are more."
(10:45:43 PM) Cagliostro: "Let us move further from the pillar, then step back, and I can bring you to a location where we can meet."
(10:46:11 PM) Cagliostro: "I do have to inquire... your appearance matches that of a mythological creature that can turn people to stone with her gaze. Is that accurate?"
(10:46:19 PM) dkap: She says: "Sure. Having a purpose and direction would be ... good."
(10:46:57 PM) dkap: She says: "I have that ability, but it is by will, not like a cocatrice, who just despoils all that goes before."
(10:47:26 PM) dkap: She says: "And it's not really stone, they are just ... outside of time for the moment, until restored, again, by will."
(10:48:00 PM) dkap: She says: "It's a family trait, taught to one of our ancestors by someone only know as "The Malk".
(10:48:04 PM) Cagliostro: "Excellent."
(10:48:12 PM) Cagliostro: "Outside of time? Interesting...."
(10:48:29 PM) Meiglan: "well that's a relief."
(10:48:36 PM) dkap: She says: "Although, I might be the last of my family to be alive ... so ... it might be a unique trait now."
(10:49:28 PM) Cagliostro: "Hopefully not."
(10:49:43 PM) Cagliostro: gm: one we reach a fair distance outsid eof the fairgrounds, we'll step back, contact the ifrit, and gate back to the castle
(10:50:55 PM) dkap: To step back, you need a mirror.
(10:51:17 PM) Spot: heh
(10:51:28 PM) Spot: Doesn't anyone have anything shiny?
(10:51:51 PM) dkap: There is the house mirror, you folks came through before ...
(10:53:06 PM) Cagliostro: that would work.
(10:54:34 PM) dkap: To the house ... you come through the mirror in the empty bedroom again. Although, this time, you hear noises coming from downstairs. Not loud, but ... noises of occupation.
(10:55:02 PM) dkap: Of course, you could probably gate out before whomever would investigate the new noises in the bedroom ...
(10:55:31 PM) Cagliostro: I think that sounds prudent
(10:55:51 PM) Spot: nodnod
(10:55:53 PM) ***Cagliostro has a reputation for mystery to maintain
(10:55:58 PM) dkap: Just as you are gating out, a little boy, no more than about 6 looks in the bedroom door, as you are walking through the gate.
(10:56:03 PM) ***Cagliostro gates to the castle
(10:56:08 PM) Cagliostro: (and waves)
(10:56:11 PM) Cagliostro: then closes the gate
(10:58:02 PM) dkap: (I love my gamers)
(10:58:39 PM) dkap: You arrive at the castle, just at the beginning of the day.
(10:59:17 PM) ***Cagliostro checks on Delna and Meiglan's temperature
(10:59:18 PM) dkap: The vamps have all bedded down, in the main room, uncertain if Sir Slice-and-Dice is still rampaging.
(10:59:31 PM) dkap: They are just fine.
(10:59:40 PM) dkap: And awake, still.
(11:00:06 PM) ***Cagliostro hms.
(11:00:11 PM) dkap: Simon is quite deeply asleep over the segmented folks.
(11:00:21 PM) Spot: And I'm falling asleep irl
(11:00:42 PM) dkap: Mal has finally dragged himself from the ship, seen that Inara is allright, and passed out, Perhaps on a gurney, or perhaps someone moved him to the gurney.
(11:01:08 PM) dkap: Inara is making breakfast.
(11:01:35 PM) dkap: Kaylee is still hugging the engine, although, there is a plate of strawberries that Inara might have the intent to lure her out with.
(11:01:44 PM) dkap: Inara's boy is still dead.
(11:02:04 PM) dkap: River is nowhere in sight.
(11:02:31 PM) dkap: The brain-burned woman is still alive.
(11:02:50 PM) dkap: The woofs are in the room with the vamps, standing guard.
(11:03:21 PM) dkap: Ammon is curled up in a ball, but opens one eye when you show up, and then closes it again.
(11:03:44 PM) dkap: Zoe is almost a body again, in the Bacta Tank.
(11:03:59 PM) ***Cagliostro will offer food and other refreshment to the gorgon
(11:03:59 PM) dkap: Jayne isn't in sight.
(11:04:03 PM) Cagliostro: (and Auricle can go sleep ;)
(11:04:23 PM) dkap: And I believe the next order of business is a visit to the ladies in the tower.
(11:04:39 PM) dkap: Yes, I'm just summing up, so we know where to start from, come next game.
(11:05:26 PM) Cagliostro: indeed
(11:05:29 PM) Cagliostro: next time, the tower!
(11:05:29 PM) dkap: The Count's Daughter, and the two Hamsterites are not in evidence.
(11:06:03 PM) dkap: And the Woof-party in the Urals is still going strong.
(11:06:13 PM) dkap: I think I've gotten everyone. Who'd I miss?
(11:06:36 PM) dkap: Inara is happy to cook more breakfast to include the Gorgon, although, she, also, doesn't seem willing to look directly at her.
(11:06:52 PM) dkap: And to include Spot and the Count.
(11:06:57 PM) Cagliostro: breakfast seems like a good place to wrap.
(11:07:21 PM) dkap: Indeed. But did I miss anyone?
(11:08:19 PM) Meiglan: I don't think so.
(11:08:32 PM) Spot: night, then!
(11:09:18 PM) Delna: Good night!
(11:09:46 PM) dkap: Until next week.
(11:09:55 PM) dkap: Will Chuck and Bob ever find each other again?
(11:09:59 PM) dkap: Oh, sorry, wrong series.
(11:10:00 PM) dkap: *grin*
(11:10:09 PM) Spot left the room (quit: Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.86 [SeaMonkey 2.0.4/20100317120533]).
