(08:18:15 PM) Mistress_Janice: Moo.
(08:19:59 PM) dkap: Eeek?
(08:21:08 PM) Mistress_Janice: Yeah, about that. Either I'm sick, or this is a BAD allergy attack. Spent most of the day sleeping.
(08:21:11 PM) Cagliostro [~sgorton@c-66-31-32-142.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(08:21:20 PM) Cagliostro: Summoned, I arrive.
(08:21:24 PM) dkap: Bleah.
(08:21:29 PM) Mistress_Janice: Sinuses feel like they've been sandpapered. Hello, Father.
(08:21:30 PM) dkap: Yay! Arrival is good.
(08:23:46 PM) dkap: So ... where were we?
(08:23:56 PM) dkap: Besides catching up with the inevitable?
(08:24:09 PM) Cagliostro: goood question.
(08:25:28 PM) Cagliostro: Were we still in transit, chasing someone?
(08:25:29 PM) Mistress_Janice: Trying to catch up with an annoying bozo.
(08:25:43 PM) dkap: Through the threes of traps.
(08:25:51 PM) dkap: Seeming much prepared for.
(08:27:04 PM) Cagliostro: that guy. yes.
(08:27:10 PM) Cagliostro: but we were narrowing the gap, yes?
(08:28:06 PM) dkap: Indeed, it was under an hour, IIRC.
(08:28:19 PM) dkap: I'm trying to burrow though the logs for exacts, though ...
(08:48:26 PM) dkap: Right ...getting lost in being caught up.
(08:54:46 PM) Cagliostro: ironic.
(08:55:40 PM) dkap: It is, in a way. We've not played for a bit, and my memory is a bit rusty, but I was enjoying the notes, etc that lead to the eggs, and the huldra ...
(09:00:54 PM) Cagliostro: all things being equal, it's good to enjoy the distraction of getting caught up in the logs. a good sign.
(09:07:39 PM) dkap: True enough.
(09:11:14 PM) Mistress_Janice: So, do we know where we are now? Or when?
(09:13:43 PM) dkap: Well ... we are on our way along the path somewhere ...
(09:13:51 PM) dkap: I just can't remember where along the way.
(09:14:11 PM) dkap: My notes are ... somewhat contradictory on the topic.
(09:14:15 PM) dkap: I can't tell how far you got.
(09:14:30 PM) Mistress_Janice: We caught him, ate him, and are headed back, right?
(09:16:03 PM) Cagliostro: the eggs are the last thing I remember
(09:25:10 PM) dkap: I thought the huldra was after the eggs?
(09:25:18 PM) Mistress_Janice: I don't think so.
(09:25:20 PM) dkap: And did you get past the mob?
(09:25:49 PM) Mistress_Janice: I do not recall a mob.
(09:26:50 PM) Cagliostro: Nor do I.
(09:27:08 PM) dkap: Right ... so ... before the mob. Good good.
(09:27:12 PM) dkap: How about the insect swarm?
(09:27:36 PM) dkap: And I'm fairly certain that you have the Rhino-kitty right?
(09:28:01 PM) Mistress_Janice: We still have the rhino-kitty. I... think we did the insects?
(09:28:16 PM) Cagliostro: Yes, about the rhino-kitty.
(09:28:21 PM) Cagliostro: insects I think also yes.
(09:36:26 PM) dkap: Hrm ... and yet my notes have the insects after the mob ...
(09:37:01 PM) Cagliostro: we might have gassed the mob and stepped past
(09:37:05 PM) Cagliostro: I have some vague memory of that
(09:37:15 PM) Cagliostro: that we sort of sleep gassed and kept moving.
(09:37:26 PM) Cagliostro: so we can accept that and run with it.
(09:37:35 PM) Cagliostro: three nasty nests of something?
(09:38:15 PM) dkap: Hrm ...
(09:39:03 PM) dkap: Indeed, we can stipulate ... umm ...
(09:39:11 PM) dkap: Wait ... here's an interesting note.
(09:40:11 PM) dkap: In the meantime ... http://xk3d.xkcd.com/
(09:40:56 PM) Cagliostro: indeed. and you have to wear those glasses for it to be in focus!
(09:42:34 PM) dkap: Yep.
(10:00:44 PM) dkap: So ... it seems we are just not clicking at the moment.
(10:00:52 PM) dkap: Let's see if I can jump-start things.
(10:01:00 PM) dkap: No shit, there we were, chasing the Baddy.
(10:01:15 PM) dkap: Through the labyrinth of the bits he left behind,
(10:01:31 PM) dkap: Meandering through every trap, since you have no idea of his destination, you can only follow his spore.
(10:01:46 PM) dkap: His lead cut down to less than a day, you are closing in, hot and heavy on his heels.
(10:02:08 PM) kayila [~kayila@c-98-229-86-80.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(10:03:00 PM) Cagliostro: excellent.
(10:03:03 PM) Cagliostro: and hello,to kayila.
(10:04:20 PM) ***kayila wavies
(10:05:34 PM) ***Mistress_Janice waves.
(10:05:50 PM) Mistress_Janice: We press on!
(10:09:28 PM) Cagliostro: we do indeed.
(10:09:36 PM) Cagliostro: with shields up, because that's been pretty useful.
(10:11:05 PM) dkap: True enough.
(10:11:06 PM) Mistress_Janice: And pockets full of the heads and samples of past threats...
(10:11:17 PM) Mistress_Janice: Acid-drooling serpents...
(10:11:17 PM) Cagliostro: well, technically, I think the head isn't from a threat.
(10:11:21 PM) dkap: Well ... bags, not pockets, but ... yes.
(10:11:26 PM) Cagliostro: the head is from a guy who was duped into setting up the threat.
(10:11:36 PM) Cagliostro: and it was easier to decapitate first and ask questions second.
(10:11:46 PM) Cagliostro: (and apologize third)
(10:11:52 PM) dkap: And rebuild third?
(10:13:18 PM) Cagliostro: rebuild is probably around 2.5.
(10:15:37 PM) Cagliostro: so yes, we continue.
(10:15:47 PM) Cagliostro: severed heads and cats and shields, oh my.
(10:21:12 PM) dkap: Right ... into the next, the exploding mud, three puddles of which only make a mess on your shields ...
(10:22:36 PM) ***Mistress_Janice rolls her eyes. "He's getting desperate. Now he'd settle for mussing up our clothing..."
(10:23:19 PM) ***Cagliostro continues.
(10:23:25 PM) Cagliostro: "Well, it might have been boiling."
(10:30:12 PM) ***Cagliostro continues along the path.
(10:30:49 PM) dkap: And eating into the scenery, like acid does.
(10:31:31 PM) dkap: But, again, it just dripped off your shields, and this one, like several of the others, doesn't look "set" as much as a natural occurrance that he took shameless advantage of.
(10:31:56 PM) dkap: Up ahead the Rhino-kitty goes into full attack-guard mode.
(10:31:58 PM) Cagliostro: *nod*
(10:32:01 PM) Cagliostro: he's finding a lot of those.
(10:32:07 PM) ***Cagliostro looks to see what set kitty off.
(10:32:45 PM) ***Mistress_Janice thought he was trailing behind us, and worries about him a bit.
(10:32:46 PM) dkap: Some shortish fellow with a sword, covered in a nice thatch of body hair, and very little else.
(10:32:59 PM) dkap: He's been bouncing around, if you recall.
(10:33:04 PM) dkap: Sometimes ahead, sometimes behind.
(10:33:57 PM) Cagliostro: I specifically do not recall that.
(10:34:22 PM) Cagliostro: nothing in common with the person we're pursuing, it sounds like?
(10:34:28 PM) Cagliostro: but this person has been around across multiple realms?
(10:34:38 PM) Mistress_Janice: I don't recall seeing anything more than once, either.
(10:40:23 PM) dkap: He's not been seen before, as far as I can recall.
(10:41:11 PM) Cagliostro: then how would we recall him?
(10:42:10 PM) dkap: Have you already dealt with him?
(10:43:22 PM) Mistress_Janice: I don't recall a mostly nude man with a sword.
(10:43:25 PM) Cagliostro: nor I.
(10:43:29 PM) dkap: Good good.
(10:44:02 PM) Cagliostro: I'm trying to reconcile
(10:44:02 PM) Cagliostro: (10:32:59 PM) dkap: He's been bouncing around, if you recall.
(10:44:02 PM) Cagliostro: with
(10:44:02 PM) Cagliostro: (10:40:23 PM) dkap: He's not been seen before, as far as I can recall.
(10:44:06 PM) Cagliostro: is the former no longer operative?
(10:44:27 PM) dkap: So, there you are, after having wiped off the mud, and a shadow or two over, with the Rhino-kitty getting all snarly at this hairy little guy with a sword.
(10:44:59 PM) dkap: Ahh .the first "he's been bouncing around" the "he" is the rhino-kitty.
(10:45:11 PM) Cagliostro: ahhhh.
(10:45:12 PM) dkap: The second he is the hairy little guy.
(10:45:14 PM) dkap: Sorry about that.
(10:45:35 PM) Cagliostro: okay, greet hairy little guy. allow sound through the shield, for now, if it wasn't already.
(10:45:47 PM) Cagliostro: two palms forward, empty hand sort of deal.
(10:45:59 PM) Cagliostro: crap, I may even be wearing that sword still.
(10:46:06 PM) Cagliostro: if I haven't found someplace to stash it. I probably have.
(10:49:22 PM) Mistress_Janice: Which sword?
(10:49:29 PM) Mistress_Janice: The 'hot' one?
(10:51:32 PM) Cagliostro: the crystal sword I picked up in the Umbra
(10:51:43 PM) dkap: Yes, you have it still.
(10:51:52 PM) Cagliostro: There's also the sword that Spot bound the spirit into
(10:51:57 PM) Cagliostro: I'm not sure if that's the hot one or not.
(10:52:01 PM) dkap: And you have that one.
(10:52:08 PM) Mistress_Janice: That was the hot one, but I think Spot still has that.
(10:52:15 PM) Mistress_Janice: Along with its kevlar oven mitt.
(10:52:27 PM) dkap: Oh, wait, which is this timeline? That was long-since set aside IIRC.
(10:52:37 PM) dkap: Or have I confused things again?
(10:52:39 PM) Cagliostro: I don't recall, that's the point.
(10:52:45 PM) Cagliostro: so, forget it, I won't stab him anyway.
(10:52:51 PM) dkap: Good good.
(10:52:53 PM) Cagliostro: I hold my hands up in a peaceful negotiating fashion.
(10:52:58 PM) Cagliostro: but don't drop the shield ;)
(10:53:23 PM) dkap: He sketches you a salute, in return, and says in passable Thari "None shall pass."
(10:54:10 PM) Mistress_Janice: "I'm afraid we have to. Stand aside, or be dealt with." She seems somewhat resigned, growing rather tired of all of this.
(10:54:36 PM) Cagliostro: "Why not?"
(10:54:51 PM) Cagliostro: to the hairy guy.
(10:56:26 PM) dkap: Harry: "I'm afraid I must bar your path. It's a matter of honor."
(10:56:56 PM) Cagliostro: "Are you released from your vow if we defeat you?"
(10:57:27 PM) ***Mistress_Janice pleads with him, "There is *nothing * honourable in this. I'm fairly certain you have been deceived..." She turns to her father. "Who said anything about a vow?"
(10:58:45 PM) Cagliostro: "I thought it was implied. It seems to be more of a debt situation than one of a generalized sense of duty. That is how he tricked the air elementals into attacking us."
(10:59:00 PM) ***Cagliostro is making no particular effort to hide this discussion from short guy.
(11:00:11 PM) dkap: Harry: "Air elementals? You defeated air elementals?"
(11:00:28 PM) ***Cagliostro points at the air elementals.
(11:00:38 PM) dkap: Harry: "At least I will go knowing i face a worthwhile opponent."
(11:00:42 PM) ***Mistress_Janice points out, "He's fooled most of them into thinking they're doing it for someone he isn't." She turns back to Harry. "Are you allowed to say anything about who asked you to block the road?" Then she nods, and points to the swirls, as they've been following among the ifrit.
(11:01:26 PM) dkap: Harry: "Alas, it is a debt too shameful to acknowledge."
(11:02:08 PM) ***Mistress_Janice foretells, "It's going to get worse."
(11:02:44 PM) Cagliostro: "All right..."
(11:02:51 PM) ***Cagliostro drops the shield and selects one of the Ifrit.
(11:02:52 PM) dkap: At that point the Rhino-kitty decides to pounce, while he seems distracted. He catches the Rhino-kitty with one hand and, seemingly gently moves the rhino behind him defying what should be simple physics.
(11:03:16 PM) ***Cagliostro ponders the situation.
(11:03:25 PM) Cagliostro: "Interesting."
(11:04:25 PM) Cagliostro: "Thank you for not injuring the cat; it was caught in a trap set for us, and has been following us since we freed it."
(11:04:45 PM) Cagliostro: gm: do I have any idea how he did what he did?
(11:04:53 PM) ***Mistress_Janice frowns. "I thought you said none shall pass."
(11:05:10 PM) ***Mistress_Janice points out that the rhino-kitty is now past him, by his own action.
(11:05:23 PM) dkap: Harry: "Don't worry, he'll pounce again in a moment or two."
(11:05:55 PM) dkap: Harry: "It's the sort of thing that a loyal pet would do to protect his master."
(11:06:27 PM) dkap: And sure enough, when Rhino-kitty thinks Harry's back is turned, he pounces again, to be gently caught, and put aside.
(11:06:41 PM) dkap: Harry: "I don't want the poor thing hurt in our duel."
(11:07:12 PM) Mistress_Janice: (trying to recall what she named the rhino-kitty)
(11:11:08 PM) Cagliostro: gm: does this look outside of the capability of the Ifrit to handle?
(11:11:36 PM) dkap: It might even be a bit of a challenge for more than one of them.
(11:12:13 PM) dkap: He does seem to know quite a a bit about someone he hasn't faced before, making the correct judgment, and not over-exerting.
(11:12:30 PM) Cagliostro: well, certainly we would learn more.
(11:12:40 PM) Cagliostro: gm: do we have two Ifrit with us? I am not certain of the numbers.
(11:13:08 PM) dkap: You have several, you pulled in extra after the air elementals, to help with their training IIRC.
(11:13:59 PM) Cagliostro: to the Ifrit, collectively: "Please disable this individual. No permanent damage."
(11:16:02 PM) dkap: They bow to you, and move out.
(11:16:29 PM) dkap: Harry cocks his head, nods, and moves into a more defensive pose.
(11:16:53 PM) Cagliostro: I only have a note about two of the Ifrit:
(11:16:53 PM) Cagliostro: Rayya - 6'9" female, slender, red skin, red eyes, no weapon
(11:16:53 PM) Cagliostro: Wafiqah - 7'2" female, slender, red skin, white eyes, short sword
(11:16:55 PM) dkap: There is the flurry of the attack, defense, multiple skills put forth, but, in the end the ifrit withdraw.
(11:17:18 PM) Cagliostro: but I have a generator. ;)
(11:17:20 PM) dkap: And concede the first point to him. He salutes them with his sword.
(11:18:09 PM) dkap: The second engagement is more scientific on the part of the ifrit, but still, he manages to avoid, evade, and repulse everything they throw at him.
(11:18:15 PM) ***Mistress_Janice watches carefully, studying the new opponent.
(11:18:17 PM) dkap: Your evaluation of his skill is at least ranked.
(11:18:22 PM) Cagliostro: as does Cagliostro.
(11:18:37 PM) ***Cagliostro conjures some refreshments for Zack.
(11:19:06 PM) dkap: Zack mutters something about popcorn not being the same without Auricle around.
(11:19:13 PM) dkap: Without taking his eyes off the engagement.
(11:19:37 PM) dkap: The young ranger-lass (who's name eludes me at the moment) is completely slack-jawed.
(11:19:51 PM) Cagliostro: Elisabella, I think.
(11:21:52 PM) Cagliostro: when there's a pause, Caglisotro will say "Out of curiousity, did the person who asked you to stop us look like <describe the true form of our opponent>?"
(11:21:57 PM) dkap: Sounds about right.
(11:22:36 PM) dkap: Harry: "Yes, indeed, that is the poor fellow."
(11:23:22 PM) dkap: Harry: "And I'm sure your cause against him is righteous and just. I am similarly obliged to protect him."
(11:23:34 PM) ***Cagliostro sighs.
(11:23:38 PM) Cagliostro: "That's what I figured."
(11:23:59 PM) Cagliostro: gm: I checked http://www.train-wreck.org/~dkap/Amber/logs/20110315-dkap_amber.html and there's no mention of more Ifrit being brought in - the one that went forward defeated the three of them.
(11:24:04 PM) Cagliostro: so I believe it's just the two.
(11:24:16 PM) Cagliostro: and I also believe that adding more is unlikely to dramatically shift the situation.
(11:24:58 PM) Cagliostro: so: analysis? is he using raw warfare, do I have a feel for his strength, is he showing any particular resistance to or vulnerability to any power or technique that we saw?
(11:26:10 PM) dkap: He seems quite skilled physically, and high on the strength-scale.
(11:26:40 PM) dkap: Warfare and strength, probably. and doesn't seem winded.
(11:26:53 PM) dkap: If charisma was a stat, though, it would be his dump-stat. *grin*
(11:27:04 PM) Mistress_Janice: I don't know, he seems polite enough.
(11:27:42 PM) Cagliostro: And I'm sure that he'd be very popular with bears.
(11:28:05 PM) Cagliostro: gm: did the ifrit try anything magical on him?
(11:29:53 PM) dkap: Not yet.
(11:30:05 PM) ***Cagliostro waits for the earthshattering magic kaboom.
(11:30:16 PM) dkap: They were trying not to hurt him, Much magical is an all-or-none situation.
(11:30:23 PM) dkap: And you did ask ...
(11:30:49 PM) Cagliostro: I did indeed.
(11:31:01 PM) Cagliostro: and we do want to err on the side of not seriously hurting him.
(11:31:04 PM) ***Mistress_Janice asks, "Zack, what do you think of your chances?"
(11:31:07 PM) Cagliostro: so they are acting according to my wishes.
(11:37:42 PM) dkap: Of course they are.
(11:38:31 PM) dkap: Zach lets out a sort of burr-like noise and says "I think I can manage it honorably, but ... I don't want to step on either of your toes ..."
(11:38:56 PM) ***Mistress_Janice rolls her eyes again. "I'm a librarian. Step away..."
(11:40:24 PM) Cagliostro: "I can take a swing at things first."
(11:40:25 PM) dkap: Zach: "Yes, but Uncle Gerard backed away from you."
(11:41:11 PM) Cagliostro: gm: did the Ifrit concede defeat?
(11:41:13 PM) dkap: Zach: "Count, I know you don't actually enjoy fighting, I'm happy to try my hand at him, I just don't want to ... well ... overwhelm him.
(11:41:42 PM) ***Mistress_Janice points out, "While we are worrying over his sensibilities, our quarry is widening his lead."
(11:41:51 PM) dkap: The ifrit are well into round 4 by now, using some interesting double timings, that Harry still seems to be able to handle.
(11:42:06 PM) Cagliostro: "Yes. I want to conserve Zack's strength for the hunt."
(11:42:08 PM) dkap: Zach: "True enough."
(11:42:11 PM) ***Cagliostro joins the fray.
(11:42:23 PM) Cagliostro: gm: I'm going to try Janice's trick of pinning him between wards
(11:42:40 PM) dkap: His sword cuts right through your wards ...
(11:42:41 PM) Cagliostro: curving the wards so it's hard for him to slip out
(11:43:01 PM) Cagliostro: gm: can I use wards to immobilize his arm?
(11:43:13 PM) Cagliostro: anchor him down so he can't cut through them?
(11:43:33 PM) dkap: Possibly, but he's not staying still enough for that.
(11:43:46 PM) Cagliostro: hmm...
(11:44:10 PM) Cagliostro: how about ward binds around his chest?
(11:44:13 PM) dkap: Zach nods, either not seeing, or not knowing what the Count is doing, pulls his blade and steps forward.
(11:44:18 PM) Cagliostro: horiziontal bindings.
(11:44:40 PM) ***Mistress_Janice contemplates a grenade.
(11:44:52 PM) dkap: And unleashes an amazing frontal attack. Harry gives one step, then a second.
(11:45:29 PM) ***Cagliostro fails to rain on Zack's parade.
(11:45:32 PM) Cagliostro: at least initially.
(11:45:35 PM) dkap: At one point Zach gives a grunt and says: "I see you trained with my father. He always used that pattern. It's a pity it failed him, in the end."
(11:45:57 PM) Cagliostro: I will study them and look for weaknesses in their technique. ;)
(11:46:19 PM) dkap: Harry is thrown off just enough from the comment that Zach pulls right through, and disarms him.
(11:47:28 PM) dkap: The sword, instead of simply flying away, as it should, seems to have changed it's trajectory, and is now winging it's way back to his hand.
(11:47:55 PM) dkap: Zach has his blade against Harry's throat, asking him to yield.
(11:48:01 PM) Cagliostro: gm: can I TK the sword away?
(11:48:18 PM) Cagliostro: if not, can I jump in and grab it?
(11:48:21 PM) dkap: You can probably gate it away ...
(11:48:27 PM) Cagliostro: gate! good plan.
(11:48:44 PM) Cagliostro: gate it a few shadows back that way.
(11:48:47 PM) Cagliostro: someplace uninhabited.
(11:48:55 PM) Cagliostro: but not far away.
(11:49:06 PM) dkap: It pops through the gate. At that point Harry yields to Zach.
(11:49:18 PM) dkap: And seems very ... unhappy with his choice.
(11:50:32 PM) Cagliostro: his choice to yield, or his choice to fight?
(11:51:00 PM) dkap: Harry: "Well, at least I know my son will die at the hands of quite skilled opponents. I don't want to know what he did to earn your enmity. I hope you forgive my need to try to stop you."
(11:51:20 PM) ***Cagliostro looks surprised.
(11:51:48 PM) dkap: And Harry seems to be drawing energy into him for one, perhaps last, effort. So far the only manifestation of magic you've seen in this contest.
(11:52:03 PM) Cagliostro: "We weren't planning on killing him. He has used many people badly, but we wanted to question him about his association with the maker of these."
(11:52:16 PM) Cagliostro: and Cagliostro will show Harry a thorn, while conjuring a magic-eating crystal under his feet.
(11:52:33 PM) Cagliostro: or two, one small one under each foot.
(11:52:44 PM) Cagliostro: I don't want to get zach in the field, just screw up what he was doing it.
(11:52:57 PM) dkap: The crystals do their work, there is no evidence of magical workings after that.
(11:53:04 PM) dkap: He looks truly defeated.
(11:53:35 PM) dkap: Harry: "I know nothing of his activities, just that he called me, and said his life depended on me waylaying that which came after him.
(11:53:48 PM) ***Mistress_Janice claps for the rhino-kitty. "Come on, let's go, we've still got to catch up. If you want to chat, can we do it on the way?"
(11:54:32 PM) Cagliostro: "I assure you that we have no plans of taking his life. If he is in fear of it, either he is mistaken or he has allied with dark powers."
(11:54:52 PM) Cagliostro: "Your sword is not far behind us along our path. We are going forward. You may go wherever you will."
(11:55:01 PM) Cagliostro: and we continue.
(11:55:03 PM) Cagliostro: good place to wrap?
(11:55:20 PM) dkap: Harry: "I only know what I was told. I will recover my sword. If your clemency grant's my child his life, I thank you for it."
(11:55:52 PM) dkap: Harry: "I freely give you my parole that I shall not attack you again over this."
(11:56:16 PM) dkap: And he kneels to the side.
(11:56:26 PM) dkap: And this, indeed would be a good place to hang.
(11:57:18 PM) Mistress_Janice: Please do remind of that second to last comment of his, next week.
(11:59:33 PM) Cagliostro left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving.).
(12:04:26 AM) Mistress_Janice: Good night, all!

(08:10:02 PM) mode (+o dkap) by ChanServ
(08:11:18 PM) dkap: Good evening.
(08:11:21 PM) Auricle: Hi David
(08:11:40 PM) dkap: Stormy should be joining us in a bit, and theoretically Sam will be here any minute.
(08:11:49 PM) dkap: And next week, we will have some fresh blood.
(08:12:32 PM) Auricle: I am cooking atm
(08:14:25 PM) Auricle: and job hunting
(08:16:30 PM) dkap: Job hunting? I thought you had one? Or am I remembering some other time-space local?
(08:18:19 PM) Auricle: i have one that I hate with a passion
(08:18:47 PM) Auricle: and it's getting worse every day
(08:19:02 PM) dkap: Ahh ... right. Good thinking hunting for a new one.
(08:19:19 PM) dkap: Passion can be good. Just not mixed with hatred?
(08:19:50 PM) Auricle: Yeah
(08:19:56 PM) Auricle: I need out of customer service.
(08:20:33 PM) dkap: I don't blame you.
(08:21:28 PM) dkap: I've never done well with that side of things.
(08:21:52 PM) Auricle: Well I'm done with it.
(08:21:55 PM) Auricle: and my department
(08:37:28 PM) Cagliostro [~sgorton@c-66-31-32-142.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(08:37:50 PM) Auricle: hey hey
(08:38:07 PM) Cagliostro: heya
(08:40:34 PM) dkap: Right then.
(08:41:25 PM) dkap: Where did we leave off?
(08:42:31 PM) Cagliostro: Harry freely gave his parole
(08:42:41 PM) Cagliostro: 11:55:20 PM) dkap: Harry: "I only know what I was told. I will recover my sword. If your clemency grant's my child his life, I thank you for it."
(08:42:48 PM) Cagliostro: (11:57:18 PM) Mistress_Janice: Please do remind of that second to last comment of his, next week.
(08:44:02 PM) kayila [~kayila@c-98-229-86-80.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(08:44:30 PM) dkap: Right ... alhtough I thought it was Hairy (referring to his condition) not Harry his name ... I must have mistyped.
(08:44:43 PM) Cagliostro: it was.
(08:44:47 PM) Cagliostro: but one became the other.
(08:44:57 PM) dkap: Although, since we are waiting on Stormy, I was thinking of where we left Auricle ...
(08:45:08 PM) Cagliostro: ah, that I cannot say.
(08:45:42 PM) Auricle: I'd just stopped someone with strings or something and I am apparently conducting affiars of state. I also think I just ordered a whole bunch of Jaegers to invade somewhere
(08:45:47 PM) Auricle: possibly by accident
(08:47:06 PM) dkap: Sounds about right ... *grin*
(08:47:19 PM) dkap: I mean ... it might not match what happened, but sounds like something that Auricle would do.
(08:47:43 PM) Auricle: Oh and there's a head.
(08:47:53 PM) Auricle: I think I sent it to be added with the other head
(08:48:10 PM) dkap: And someone attacked you ... IIRC.
(08:49:02 PM) Auricle: that was the strings
(08:49:05 PM) dkap: And it got cleaned up, and you were on to the next supplicant I beileve?
(08:49:15 PM) Auricle: I was sitting down to hear the next assassin. Er supplicant
(08:49:34 PM) dkap: Indeed. That's right.
(08:51:09 PM) dkap: And the complaint was about Jager, so you sent a bunch there ... to check things out. Right.
(08:51:27 PM) Auricle: Yes well
(08:51:34 PM) Auricle: They annoyed me
(08:52:51 PM) dkap: Right.
(08:53:33 PM) dkap: So ... the assistant to Zorg goes and gets the next one, and introduces him.
(08:54:14 PM) ***Auricle sits back down in the chair. (And there are Jagers here now, right? I recall getting a few in here.)
(08:55:38 PM) dkap: There is one sitting in the window embrasure above your chair.
(08:56:04 PM) Auricle: kk
(08:56:33 PM) Auricle: Who is this one?
(08:56:58 PM) dkap: The next individual is ushered in, the ambassador from Tremere.
(08:57:22 PM) dkap: (That was the name of the place, right?)
(08:57:45 PM) dkap: (The water-place that is Golden Circle?)
(08:57:46 PM) Cagliostro: Tremere has cropped up from time to time, yes
(08:57:55 PM) Cagliostro: I'm not sure about it being a water-place
(08:57:59 PM) dkap: Excellent, my nameserver is doing better tonight ...
(08:58:26 PM) dkap: He comes in, bows low to you, and declares that he has a gift.
(08:59:24 PM) Auricle: "Is it dangerous?"
(08:59:42 PM) dkap: Ambassador: "While the gift is not, necessarily, directly for you, more for the Master Chef that you introduced to us, to prepare for you ... we wish you to know that your efforts in helping us clear up our problems are most appreciated."
(09:00:22 PM) ***Auricle blinks and then bounces up. "You found my Chef? He'd gotten terribly lost!"
(09:00:34 PM) dkap: Ambassador: "With the help of the Jagermonsters, the pirates who were plaguing our shores are now no longer an issue."
(09:00:54 PM) Auricle: "excellent!" <Gargoyle, what pirates?>
(09:01:01 PM) Auricle: <for that matter, what shores?>
(09:01:31 PM) dkap: The assistant to Zorg leans in and whispers in your ear "Your Chef has been here, in the City, since you left."
(09:02:13 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: "They petitioned you, when you wandered through, and you told the Jager to help them, as long as the Jager didn't lose their hats over it."
(09:02:50 PM) Auricle: "Oh good." It's unclear if Auricle means to the assistant or the gargoyle or the ambassador
(09:02:55 PM) dkap: Gargoyle puts up a map of the place before your eye, large promentory out of the water, basically everything they do is from the sea.
(09:03:51 PM) dkap: ... with the kelp farms, the fisharies, the shrimping and oyster-seed-beds and the like.
(09:04:11 PM) dkap: The assistant nods.
(09:04:18 PM) dkap: The ambassador sweeps a full bow.
(09:05:04 PM) ***Auricle nods and sits back down again.
(09:05:20 PM) Auricle: "Well I'm glad everything worked out all right."
(09:06:13 PM) dkap: Upon standing back upright, the ambassador says: "If I might be ... forward ... we wish to reestablish some, if not more or all, of the trade and trade-routes we enjoyed in the days of Amber."
(09:07:43 PM) dkap: Ambassador: "Not knowing the ... new officials, nor, apparently, does anyone else ... I leave the request in your hands, to do with what you find most wise."
(09:09:35 PM) ***Auricle hmms a moment. "Um, well, Deirdre's King but I'm...not sure who the Court is or...well... I'm trying to make sure Reality's. um, settled. You know. Downlike. Or uplike. Depending on where one is. Sometimes inside out or sideways through a telescope. "
(09:10:24 PM) dkap: Ambassador: "Of course. I completely understand. It's just that Kind Deidre's entire court seems to have gone off hunting, and hasn't returned ... in quite some time."
(09:10:54 PM) Auricle: "Well that's ... humh." Auricle reaches inside herself and pulls out her trump deck and looks for Deirdre.
(09:11:09 PM) dkap: Ambassador: "So ... I do hope you understand our position. Perhaps, with your permission, we might be allowed to open up a trade-hall here in this City?"
(09:11:35 PM) dkap: You stand in her gallery and have her sigil before you.
(09:11:41 PM) dkap: Oh wait ... wrong milleau ...
(09:11:43 PM) dkap: *grin*
(09:11:59 PM) dkap: You have her warm card in an inner hand before an inner eye.
(09:13:18 PM) Auricle: Deirdre? Are you there?
(09:14:08 PM) dkap: No response.
(09:15:27 PM) Auricle: I apparently need to lojack the entire Amberite family.
(09:15:42 PM) Auricle: These people have no idea how to stay put and not get lost. "Jean!"
(09:15:49 PM) ***Auricle looks around for a Jean.
(09:16:11 PM) dkap: There should be one about. There often is.
(09:16:42 PM) dkap: (Cagliostro, your alter-ego is requested ...)
(09:18:28 PM) dkap: Right ... the GM's hand with a sock on it pops up.
(09:18:37 PM) dkap: Jean: Yes?
(09:19:10 PM) Auricle: "Okay, are you anywhere near Deirdre? And how did you manage to get lost when you are everywhere?"
(09:24:12 PM) dkap: Jean: I'm not lost. You just sometimes aren't where I am.
(09:24:32 PM) Auricle: "That's not possible when you are everywhere."
(09:24:38 PM) dkap: Jean: And I'm deliberately nowhere near the King, by her own order.
(09:24:44 PM) Auricle: "Oh."
(09:24:45 PM) Cagliostro: (back)
(09:24:59 PM) Cagliostro is now known as Jean
(09:25:13 PM) Jean: "What do you need?"
(09:25:23 PM) Auricle: "Um, okay then, I don't see an issue with a trade hall. Trade sounds good."
(09:25:24 PM) dkap: The GM quickly pushes Jean back into place and drops the sock.
(09:29:15 PM) ***Auricle looks around the room to see if anyone else agrees.
(09:30:46 PM) dkap: Jean, I believe the question was: "Okay, are you anywhere near Deirdre? And how did you manage to get lost when you are everywhere?"
(09:32:05 PM) Jean: No, I was ok with all your responses
(09:32:12 PM) The account has disconnected and you are no longer in this chat. You will be automatically rejoined in the chat when the account reconnects.
(09:32:53 PM) dkap1: Good good.
(09:33:01 PM) dkap1: (Net drop.)
(09:33:05 PM) dkap1: Did I miss anything?
(09:33:12 PM) Auricle: Jean> the question Jean had was, "What do you need from Deidre?", then.
(09:33:54 PM) Auricle: "I'm trying to find out who she left in charge of Trade."
(09:35:49 PM) Jean: gm: I am in the city, right?
(09:35:53 PM) Jean: is anyone running things there?
(09:36:00 PM) Jean: (besides Auricle?)
(09:36:23 PM) Auricle: (I'm not running anything. Not intentionally. Just haphazardly)
(09:36:50 PM) Jean: (still counts.)
(09:37:12 PM) dkap1: The only organization is Zorg.
(09:37:14 PM) Auricle: (Sadly for the City)
(09:37:16 PM) dkap1: And the Jager.
(09:37:25 PM) dkap1: And some of the scientists that Auricle imported.
(09:37:30 PM) dkap1: But Zorg is the most widespread.
(09:39:39 PM) Mistress_Janice [~chatzilla@209-6-53-201.c3-0.smr-ubr1.sbo-smr.ma.cable.rcn.com] entered the room.
(09:40:00 PM) Mistress_Janice: I can haz Amber!
(09:40:47 PM) Auricle: Yay!
(09:40:47 PM) You are now known as dkap
(09:40:51 PM) Jean: okay.
(09:40:57 PM) Jean: "I think what the city needs is a Regent."
(09:41:29 PM) Auricle: "Or the King to come back. But a Regent might work."
(09:41:41 PM) dkap: *grin* Echoes of the past.
(09:42:19 PM) Auricle: "Okay, I don't see a problem with a Trade Hall. Trade is good, you have my permission - barring the King decides otherwise at some point, 'kay?"
(09:43:33 PM) dkap: Ambassador: "Thank you! You are most kind. You are always welcome to come and sample our wares at any time."
(09:43:58 PM) Auricle: "Great. Thank you."
(09:44:49 PM) dkap: He bows himself out of the chamber.
(09:45:18 PM) dkap: Zorg's assistant looks around. And says to Auricle: "Sorry, no entertaining cleanup this time."
(09:45:44 PM) Auricle: "That's okay. Is there more? This is kind of fun."
(09:46:08 PM) Auricle: "I haven't had to do this in ages and ages."
(09:46:40 PM) dkap: Zorg's assistant: "Yes, a few more."
(09:46:51 PM) Auricle: "All righty, next."
(09:48:02 PM) dkap: The next one is announced.
(09:48:32 PM) dkap: He comes in in sun-god robes, a halo of power and a large, crackling walking-stick.
(09:48:58 PM) Auricle: (What kind of power?)
(09:50:17 PM) ***Mistress_Janice throws little pickles at him.
(09:50:46 PM) dkap: Funny, he doesn't _look_ like Blaise ...
(09:51:03 PM) Jean: (Bleys)
(09:51:50 PM) dkap: Right ... him.
(09:52:27 PM) Auricle: (What kind of power though? Magic/Logrus/Pattern/blah?)
(09:53:16 PM) dkap: Magic.
(09:53:27 PM) dkap: Sorry, missed the question.
(09:53:32 PM) dkap: The pickles distracted me.
(09:53:56 PM) ***Auricle looks expectantly at the Zorg person to introduce him.
(09:54:37 PM) ***Mistress_Janice throws little pickles at the GM.
(09:57:17 PM) dkap: He is introduced as the "Grape and all powerful God On High Ammondiaz"
(09:57:36 PM) dkap: Zorg's assistant coughs and says "Sorry, Great, not grape."
(09:59:23 PM) Auricle: <Gargoyle? Was that the religion we started? We did start one, didn't we? Or was that before?>
(10:01:10 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: We have started approximately 7.6 religions, and one cult of trees.
(10:01:47 PM) ***Auricle looks perplexed for a moment. <Is he one of them?>
(10:03:06 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: Probability 0.0047367321 approximately.
(10:05:12 PM) dkap: Glowing boy stands and poses for the moment.
(10:05:15 PM) Auricle: <Okay>
(10:05:36 PM) Auricle: "All right....and...you're here because....?"
(10:07:13 PM) dkap: Glow-hard: "I have come to accept my proper place as the one who is worshiped by all who are here."
(10:08:47 PM) Auricle: "And so you petition .... doesn't that seem illogical?"
(10:08:59 PM) Jean: (gm: is Verra free?)
(10:10:58 PM) dkap: Hrm ... let me check my notes.
(10:11:18 PM) dkap: Verra is with the King, but Sethra is.
(10:11:24 PM) dkap: (free that is)
(10:13:39 PM) Jean: Does sethra fit in a fish?
(10:13:51 PM) dkap: She has, before.
(10:13:56 PM) Jean: excellent.
(10:14:16 PM) Jean: I'll let her know that we may have someone muscling onto Verra's territory in Amber.
(10:14:22 PM) Jean: god-wise, that is.
(10:15:11 PM) dkap: Sethra is ... most amused, and is wondering why you are telling her.
(10:15:42 PM) Jean: "Because Verra isn't available. I thought you might enjoy laying down a recreational smackdown on a god, should the situation arise."
(10:16:41 PM) dkap: Sethra: And _I_ am the choice? Or is that because I'm simply small enough so that the power levels don't wipe away cities?
(10:17:32 PM) Jean: "I thought you'd enjoy it more?"
(10:17:59 PM) dkap: Sethra: Sure ... Iceflame hasn't fed recently ...
(10:19:04 PM) dkap: Sethra: I'm sure the Princess with forgive me this one ... I hope ...
(10:19:33 PM) Jean: that leaves some time for the conversation to progress with Auricle...
(10:19:45 PM) dkap: Glow-bug: "Logic has nothing to do with me accepting your belief."
(10:19:58 PM) ***Auricle blinks. "I believe?"
(10:20:58 PM) Auricle: "This is new."
(10:21:20 PM) Auricle: "I've never even heard of you til you walked in. and I am pretty sure I didn't create you."
(10:21:30 PM) dkap: Glowing Boy: "Of course you believe, you have accepted me into your heart and mind, and will let all your people know they are to start believing, as well."
(10:22:02 PM) Auricle: <Gargoyle is he trying to magic me into something? And is it failing?>
(10:23:18 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: Probability 70.4%
(10:23:39 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: 26% hubris
(10:23:52 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: 3.6% something unknown.
(10:25:48 PM) Auricle: "Well, no, I don't worship you, I don't worship anyone. And I'm not interested in spreading your religion. Whatever it is."
(10:25:58 PM) dkap: Glow-boy looks shocked.
(10:26:22 PM) dkap: Glow boy rattles his stick and his glow flashes brighter.
(10:26:56 PM) Jean: to Sethra: "I think that was your cue. Coming?"
(10:27:00 PM) dkap: Gargoyle: 83% trying to magically or psychically influence you.
(10:27:01 PM) ***Auricle hmms. <Is the stick emitting the power signature?>
(10:27:22 PM) dkap: The stick is a foci, he's emitting it, himself.
(10:27:26 PM) Auricle: "You know you can keep trying that but really you aren't accomplishing much."
(10:27:44 PM) dkap: Sethra: I like a good entrance, can you put me down right in front?
(10:30:18 PM) dkap: Sethra, pouring out of the fish with a rainbow-tree effect: "Summoned, I obey, where is the psudeo-godling-want-to-be I am to destroy?"
(10:30:50 PM) ***Auricle blinks again looking vaguely surprised.
(10:31:20 PM) ***Jean shrugs as best a saucer can.
(10:31:37 PM) Jean: "I thought he was about to do something more creative."
(10:32:18 PM) dkap: Sehtra sweeps a low bow to Auricle. "O Great Keeper of all that Is Ordered. As Verra's representative, I stand summoned on her behalf, to set right what has stepped aside from what should be."
(10:33:13 PM) ***Auricle nods slowly and points at the glow-man. "Him."
(10:33:13 PM) dkap: Glow-Boy, pointing stick: "Be consumed in the Fires of Unbelief!" and basically a 10-foot area-effect D&D style fireball erupts from his staff.
(10:33:39 PM) dkap: I've been corrected 20'.
(10:33:39 PM) Jean: this looks like a job for the Jean saucer ;)
(10:33:54 PM) dkap: Sethra eats the power into Iceflame, casually.
(10:34:01 PM) Jean: ah, reaction time.
(10:34:53 PM) ***Auricle hmms and leans back in the chair.
(10:35:02 PM) dkap: Sethra stalks over to him. Then looks back at Auricle, "Are you sure? _This_ has pretensions toward god-hood?"
(10:35:43 PM) Auricle: "For no logical reason, yes it does."
(10:35:54 PM) dkap: Glow-Boy: "You will regret your worship of False Gods, and will realize you were to only worship me until the end of your days."
(10:36:43 PM) dkap: Sethra: "Then I will give you the Test of Godhood. This is not Godslayer, if it kills you, you are not a God."
(10:37:55 PM) dkap: Glow Boy: "How dare y"
(10:38:00 PM) dkap: Sethra: Stabbity.
(10:38:27 PM) Auricle: "I suspect I'm not going to be realizing that."
(10:38:58 PM) dkap: Empty shell: rattle.
(10:39:25 PM) Jean: "Huh."
(10:39:27 PM) Auricle: "New head for the wall? This is getting rather bloody. Are Amberite audiences always like this?"
(10:39:37 PM) dkap: Zorg's assistant. "Wet cleanup in Isle 1."
(10:39:54 PM) dkap: Zorg's assistant. "Yes, that's why there are so many spikes on the wall."
(10:40:16 PM) Auricle: "This is terribly inefficient."
(10:40:34 PM) dkap: Sethra: "Wow, that was disappointing. I expected some sort of shield, or ward, or ... well ... anything. What was he all mind, and no defense?"
(10:40:49 PM) Jean: "We may need to put up signs. 'You must be 'this' powerful to claim godhood."
(10:40:54 PM) ***Jean apologizes to Sethra.
(10:41:05 PM) dkap: Zorg's assistant: "We could chop them off beforehand ... but it would be harder to separate the useful ones from the annoying ones that way."
(10:41:19 PM) Auricle: "Probability of magical and/or psychic ability 83%."
(10:41:36 PM) dkap: Sethra: "I'm just worried that the Princess might not approve."
(10:41:41 PM) Auricle: "staff functioning as foci for the power."
(10:42:01 PM) Auricle: "Abilities turned towards overwhelming victims' minds."
(10:42:21 PM) Jean: "I suspect he's lucky you got to him before Zorro did, Sethra."
(10:42:25 PM) Auricle: "In a susceptible shadow he could have become quite powerful."
(10:42:30 PM) ***Jean offers Sethra a fish back to where she was before.
(10:43:22 PM) dkap: Sethra pours herself back into the fish.
(10:44:02 PM) ***Jean fishes Sethra back to where she was before.
(10:44:29 PM) Jean: "I learned an important lesson about people who claim to be gods."
(10:44:40 PM) Auricle: "Which is?"
(10:45:31 PM) Jean: (I hope that wasn't a PC.)
(10:45:37 PM) Jean: "Some of them are really stupid."
(10:47:12 PM) Auricle: "That's really good to remember."
(10:48:27 PM) dkap: The Jager carves that into the wall, so it gets remembered.
(10:49:03 PM) dkap: Head off, and placed on appropriate pointy-uppy-bit.
(10:49:34 PM) Auricle: and it's 11ish
(10:49:43 PM) dkap: Floor cleaned.
(10:49:58 PM) dkap: And we can go onto the next upon the next.
(10:51:01 PM) dkap: Oh, and for those of you joining late, next week we are having new folks feeling out characters, face to face.
(10:51:13 PM) dkap: (At Katherine's place.)
(10:51:58 PM) Auricle: well it is pumpkiny time for me
(10:53:31 PM) Jean: alas I will probably not be in town.
(10:53:43 PM) Jean: but that sounds great.
(10:53:46 PM) Jean: night!
(10:53:57 PM) Jean left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving.).
(10:54:40 PM) Mistress_Janice: ...people?
(10:55:12 PM) dkap: Pumpkin well.
(10:55:47 PM) Auricle: night!
(10:55:50 PM) Auricle left the room (quit: Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.86.1 [SeaMonkey 2.0.14/20110420224920]).
(10:57:23 PM) ***Mistress_Janice waves to people.
(10:58:25 PM) kayila: hey
(10:58:49 PM) dkap: Yes?
(11:08:16 PM) dkap: On that note ... good night!
(11:08:23 PM) Mistress_Janice: Good night!
