(04:14:30 PM) Rayeth [~Rayeth@108.129.104.108] entered the room.
(04:14:38 PM) Rayeth: Hi Dkap!
(04:26:17 PM) dkap: Greetings. I've not yet headed home, but I'm here.
(04:26:19 PM) dkap: *grin*
(04:27:18 PM) dkap: I'm often here, if I'm online at all, because some of my gamers want to be able to ask me questions ...
(04:32:43 PM) Rayeth: Yeah, like when are you going to look at my character sheet or are you?
(04:34:33 PM) Rayeth: cause if you aren't, I'm more than happy to make stuff up as I go along.
(04:37:29 PM) dkap: I'd be delighted to, probably this evening, As Bannon can tell you, I've been hammered at work.
(04:37:43 PM) Rayeth: Damn >.>
(04:37:52 PM) dkap: And not in the good way.
(04:38:12 PM) Rayeth: lol
(05:02:53 PM) Rayeth: I'm hungry.
(05:13:38 PM) dkap: And I'm off to head home.
(05:13:51 PM) dkap: Hopefully will make it in time to start game. *grin*
(05:14:01 PM) dkap: Man the battle-stations until I'm back?
(05:14:04 PM) dkap: Danke.

(07:54:14 PM) Rayeth: Hai!
(07:54:41 PM) dkap: And I am returned.
(07:54:53 PM) Rayeth: Where is everyone?
(07:55:17 PM) dkap: They should be along in a little bit, I do hope.
(07:55:20 PM) Rayeth: K
(07:55:25 PM) Rayeth: want my char sheet now?
(07:55:28 PM) dkap: Often 8:00 is the start time, so people start trickling in about now.
(07:55:30 PM) dkap: Sure.
(07:55:38 PM) dkap: A moment while I pull up a mail-reader.
(07:55:38 PM) Rayeth: gimme an e-mail I can send it to
(07:58:36 PM) Rayeth: k
(07:59:19 PM) Rayeth: *watches Boba Fett play the accordion while he waits*
(08:00:38 PM) Auricle [~chatzilla@c-75-69-12-225.hsd1.vt.comcast.net] entered the room.
(08:04:08 PM) Rayeth: Hi Auri
(08:05:19 PM) Rayeth: I now share this with you guys.
(08:05:32 PM) Auricle: hi hi
(08:05:38 PM) Rayeth: Things Mr. Welch is no longer allowed to do in an RPG #57.
(08:05:40 PM) Rayeth: In the middle of a black op I cannot ask a guard to validate parking.
(08:05:55 PM) Auricle: lol, those are really good
(08:06:02 PM) Rayeth: Hes up to 1550
(08:06:02 PM) Auricle: the things he's no longer allowed to do
(08:06:14 PM) Rayeth: My bad 1950
(08:06:24 PM) Rayeth left the room.
(08:06:36 PM) Rayeth [~Rayeth@108.129.104.108] entered the room.
(08:06:59 PM) Rayeth: 108. No, I do not get XP for every single crewman on that Star Destroyer.
(08:07:39 PM) dkap: But you do get haunted by the kids in the child-care center on the Star Destroyer ...
(08:07:52 PM) dkap: Shooting at a civilian target like that.
(08:08:20 PM) dkap: There was a school there, as well. And some nun-nurses, trying to establish a clinic.
(08:08:36 PM) Rayeth left the room.
(08:08:57 PM) Rayeth [~Rayeth@108.129.104.108] entered the room.
(08:09:11 PM) Rayeth: One problem with Dvorak
(08:09:15 PM) Rayeth: the V is next to the W
(08:09:24 PM) Rayeth: 215. They do not make heavy weapons in pump action.
(08:09:46 PM) Auricle: I keep meaning to learn the dvorak keyboard
(08:09:54 PM) Rayeth: Just do it.
(08:09:56 PM) Rayeth: I did
(08:10:09 PM) dkap: Apparently they didn't like the design of the pump-action bastilla?
(08:10:11 PM) Rayeth: don't use anything else unless I have to. I even have Dvorak on my Galaxy Tab
(08:10:28 PM) Rayeth: 243. Cannot cast haste on the king during a long winded speech to get him to hurry the hell up.
(08:10:40 PM) Auricle: hmmm
(08:11:30 PM) Rayeth: Anyway. Enough of that.
(08:12:06 PM) Rayeth: Dvorak is awesome just for the fact that i can sustain 70 wpm for well over 10 minutes at a time.
(08:13:26 PM) Rayeth: Could only do a few minutes before.
(08:13:29 PM) dkap: Hrm ... how about casting a standing "haste" spell on the outhouse?
(08:14:09 PM) Rayeth: In addition, I went back to Qwerty for a job. My wrists were in crippling pain in just a few minutes of typing.
(08:14:20 PM) Rayeth: With good posture.
(08:14:35 PM) Rayeth: You don't need good wrist posture with Dvorak, it's just that comfortable.
(08:15:03 PM) Auricle: well it is worth seeing about
(08:15:33 PM) Rayeth: Learn it well enough to burst 120wpm and you'll be hooked for life!
(08:19:46 PM) dkap: I burst 120, and am at about 80 normally with querty ... but I'm old and I've been typing since I was 12 (when we didn't have "keyboarding" but those new selectrics were nice ...)
(08:20:12 PM) Auricle: heh
(08:20:18 PM) Auricle: I don't know if i type enough
(08:20:37 PM) Rayeth: I'm only 25 and I went from a hard burst of 50 to an easy 70 when I made the switch.
(08:20:48 PM) Rayeth: Literally in the course of about three weeks.
(08:22:52 PM) Rayeth: Anyway, we going to start?
(08:22:55 PM) Auricle: well I might test it
(08:23:06 PM) Auricle: if relearning how to type doesn't annoy me too much.
(08:23:12 PM) Rayeth: lol
(08:23:29 PM) Rayeth: It is easy to pickup with practice.
(08:23:50 PM) Rayeth: What would help though, if you need to type to work, is to learn on a seperate keyboard.
(08:25:01 PM) Rayeth: Like, I learned on my laptop keyboard, if I switch to a standard keyboard like the ones that are $5 at wal-mart, I can still type qwerty without thinking too much.
(08:25:51 PM) Rayeth: I also got freaked out when I noticed. When I type qwerty I think about each individual letter. When I type dvorak, I think the word itself.
(08:26:37 PM) Auricle: well, I will consider
(08:27:15 PM) Rayeth: Worse comes to worse you can always go back. Took me about a day to re-learn the qwerty layout.
(08:32:54 PM) Auricle: heh
(08:33:05 PM) Rayeth: I will never go back though.
(08:35:37 PM) Rayeth: can we start now?
(08:35:39 PM) Rayeth: I'm bored.
(08:35:47 PM) Auricle: lol
(08:35:47 PM) Rayeth: And my beer is almost gone...
(08:36:01 PM) Auricle: dkap is probably with the live crew
(08:37:16 PM) Rayeth: 667. No matter what the dice say, can't decapitate an Aberrant with a straight razor.
(08:37:27 PM) Auricle: Do you have questions I can answer?
(08:37:43 PM) Rayeth: How do magnets work?
(08:38:34 PM) Auricle: When the mommy magnet and the daddy magnet are in love they attract and stick together. Later, they hate each other and repel and can't be brought back together.
(08:39:20 PM) Rayeth: You win one internet!
(08:39:49 PM) Rayeth: I hope this makes it into the log
(08:40:30 PM) dkap: It will.
(08:40:41 PM) Auricle: yay I won!
(08:40:47 PM) Auricle: a whole internet!
(08:41:26 PM) dkap: A whole internet?
(08:43:03 PM) Rayeth: Yes
(08:43:07 PM) Rayeth: and my undying love.
(08:43:37 PM) Rayeth: Not every day I get someone who will troll me back.
(08:43:55 PM) Auricle: I'm loved!
(08:44:00 PM) Auricle: But only if undying.
(08:44:04 PM) Auricle: I will need to work on this
(08:44:53 PM) Auricle: I also need some food. Hmm.
(08:44:56 PM) Rayeth: If you die I'll perform 9th level necromancy to bring you back.
(08:45:03 PM) Rayeth: Otherwise I'll just desecrate your corpse...
(08:46:15 PM) Auricle: well I'll be dead, I don't suppose I'll care much
(08:46:53 PM) Rayeth: Yay for necrophilia!
(08:47:32 PM) Rayeth: can we start yet?
(08:48:00 PM) dkap: Sorry ... there has been start-thing.
(08:48:14 PM) Auricle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk7yqlTMvp8
(08:49:00 PM) Rayeth: 700. Not allowed to use basic economics to crash the evil empire's economy by spending all my swag there at once.

(08:50:27 PM) Auricle: .....my head hurts now
(08:54:51 PM) Mistress_Janice [~chatzilla@pool-98-110-160-111.bstnma.fios.verizon.net] entered the room.
(08:55:00 PM) dkap: Ahh ... welcome!
(08:55:25 PM) Mistress_Janice: Just realized you were downstairs.
(08:55:44 PM) Auricle: rofl hello there
(08:56:02 PM) kayila [~kayila@c-98-229-86-80.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(09:01:30 PM) Rayeth: Hi Bannon!
(09:02:07 PM) ***kayila waves a bit, but is just watching for now..
(09:02:24 PM) kayila: But I do exist.. really... >.>
(09:04:01 PM) Auricle: hey there
(09:07:42 PM) Mistress_Janice: SURE you do...
(09:08:33 PM) dkap: You do, and at some point, you have a masterful scolding to hand down.
(09:08:35 PM) dkap: *grin*
(09:08:53 PM) kayila: Oh, I know.. *glares at Rayeth*
(09:09:13 PM) Auricle: People exist?
(09:11:14 PM) dkap: Your cook does ... somewhere.
(09:11:17 PM) dkap: Typing of which ...
(09:12:24 PM) Mistress_Janice: Food fight!
(09:13:48 PM) ***dkap ducks
(09:13:58 PM) dkap: Oh wait, I'm the GM ...
(09:14:05 PM) ***dkap ducks _really_hard_
(09:14:17 PM) ***Auricle rewrites reality.
(09:14:19 PM) Auricle: "
(09:14:27 PM) Auricle: "There now I know people exist for now."
(09:15:16 PM) Auricle: However i still need dinner. irl. not ingame. Although I might need food ingame, too
(09:16:06 PM) kayila: You didn't rewrite reality so you were full? Well that was silly of you..
(09:16:48 PM) dkap: Nope, Auricle likes to eat, so it's more likely that reality was written so not only is Auricle hungry, but it's dinner time ...
(09:19:49 PM) kayila: Is this including that time is only an illusion, dinner time doubly so?
(09:20:47 PM) dkap: I thought that was lunch-time? And Bistromatics.
(09:20:56 PM) dkap: Which I observed today, in fine form.
(09:21:59 PM) kayila: I believe it was, but that was before Auricle rewrote reality. Different author, different food-time illusion.
(09:24:21 PM) dkap: Right.
(09:24:24 PM) dkap: *grin*
(09:30:48 PM) dkap: So, Bannon, where did you get lost?
(09:32:51 PM) dkap: And Nate, (shouldn't it be Nate?) you are introducing the Bear around, and investigating the dissapearance of your pilot?
(09:33:06 PM) kayila: I didn't get lost... he ran away.. -.-
(09:33:23 PM) dkap: RIght, where were you when he ran, and wiped himself again?
(09:33:57 PM) Mistress_Janice: Nate also wants to find and thank his Shop teacher - clearly, the lessons were well worth it.
(09:34:45 PM) kayila: In another shadow, explaining to him that this time he really should tell me where he's going /before/ he gets there...
(09:35:39 PM) kayila: Takes a while to find him in the multitude of shadows. Especially because I'm looking for this specific one rather than a lookalike
(09:35:57 PM) dkap: Right, that's what you are doing _now_ but I'm asking what you were doing when he left ...
(09:40:29 PM) dkap: Nate, what is your order of operations?
(09:41:17 PM) dkap: Study? Let your girl know you are back? Introduce the Bear Mage to the Administration? Thank the Shop Teacher? Have someone watch the Machine? Track down where the pilot disappeared to?
(09:44:31 PM) Mistress_Janice: Introduce Bear Mage, so he'll be all right - and also ask Admin about the pilot, who claimed he had been sent by the school. Explain to the Bear Mageabout finals, so he'll hopefully excuse my absence. Thank shop teacher, and ask (him/her/it/them) to watch the machine, with a description of the pilot. Let Flare know I'm back, and ask her help in studying.
(09:48:13 PM) kayila: dkap: Bannon was in her home Shadow, having brought Rayeth there to make it easier for her to track him.
(09:48:16 PM) dkap: Right. Good good.
(09:48:40 PM) dkap: kayila: Right ... makes sense.
(09:49:22 PM) dkap: The Administration is very interested in the Bear Mage, and is busy trying to categorize him as you leave. He seems to be baffling them.
(09:49:39 PM) dkap: The Bear Mage gets finals, and wishes you well.
(09:50:11 PM) dkap: Finding the shop teacher ... is not as easy as you thought ... Shop looks like it is vanalized.
(09:50:27 PM) Mistress_Janice: Does Admin admit to having sent the pilot/machine?
(09:51:34 PM) dkap: Nope.
(09:51:55 PM) dkap: They claim no knowledge of him, and will deal with it after they have sorted the puzzle you present to them.
(09:52:10 PM) Mistress_Janice: I thought not. Report the pilot and the shop problem to campus security, and ask them to guard the machine. I have got to get studying...
(09:52:54 PM) dkap: Campus Security is suspiciously absent.
(09:53:16 PM) dkap: And Flare isn't answering her phone.
(09:53:22 PM) Mistress_Janice: Razzafrazzin' notes, I could have sworn I had also written down Flare's real name.
(09:53:29 PM) Mistress_Janice: Go check her room.
(09:54:48 PM) dkap: Signs of a struggle in her room. Both her and her roommate are missing. Her roommate's little glass cat (one of her prized possessions) is broken and on the floor.
(09:55:01 PM) dkap: (statue, not side-kick)
(09:56:13 PM) Mistress_Janice: Sheesh, the whole place should be in an uproar, but Admin seemed pretty calm. Start the Wargames Club phone tree - this is beginning to look nasty, and I could use some allies and a think tank.
(09:57:57 PM) Mistress_Janice: Can I tell anything from the scene of struggle? Number of assailants, powers in use, anything?
(10:01:44 PM) dkap: No obvious power-usage, either by Flare or her roommate, or anyone else. The room might have been trashed in a search as opposed to a struggle, since powers weren't obviously used, or there was just too much surprise for them to react, or something that dampens powers in action.
(10:02:29 PM) dkap: The door was locked from the inside, but, of course, you have a key.
(10:02:39 PM) dkap: And her dorm wasn't one with the columns.
(10:04:06 PM) Mistress_Janice: Locked from the inside isn't good. That means whoever it was may have won. Look out the window, in case there's anything to see - Flare can fly, so she might have left that way. Not expecting it, but check anyway.
(10:05:21 PM) dkap: No signs, but the window is forced open.
(10:05:38 PM) dkap: No glass broken (blast glass windows, would take quite a bit to break it ...)
(10:06:22 PM) Mistress_Janice: Odd. Okay. Call Admin and report - including the fact that Security's nowhere to be found. Then try some friends by phone - see if I can either find someone who knows what's been happening, or some help to figure it out.
(10:09:25 PM) dkap: The Wargammers various have messages much to the effect of "Gone to look for Nate." "Jon missing, under suspicious circumstances, if you hear this meet us at the gym to track him down." "Screams from across campus, if I don't check in in 20 minutes, something has befallen me, send help." etc.
(10:10:47 PM) dkap: Your voicemail has several calls from Flaire looking for you, then a few calls from some of the Wargamers looking for Flaire or you ... and one "all hands danger-tree call-out."
(10:11:15 PM) Mistress_Janice: Something has apparently befallen all of them. Leave messages, so they at least know I'm back (for now...) and then head for my room. Gear up - I'd expected to be studying, not working. Any note on the 'all hands' as to where folk were supposed to meet?
(10:12:15 PM) dkap: The (fairly simple) AI that is the phone switch apologizes that no one in Admin, or Security, or the Faculty Lounge has picked up a phone in the last day or so.
(10:12:38 PM) Mistress_Janice: Wait - there were folk IN Admin when I was there. They're not answering their phones?
(10:12:46 PM) dkap: The All Hands was to meet at your normal meeting place (wherever you wargame ...)
(10:13:12 PM) Mistress_Janice: We tend to play in a big room in the library basement.
(10:13:26 PM) Mistress_Janice: However, first I will head back to Admin, to check on them and the Bear Mage.
(10:13:28 PM) dkap: Yes, they were, and apparently not answering their phones. Perhaps the coms have been mucked with, as part of a way to isolate and remove people?
(10:14:18 PM) dkap: The Bear Mage is sitting there, with a somewhat puzzled look on his face, one of the administrators seems to have become a fine paste on the far wall, and the rest seem to not be there, at the moment.
(10:15:02 PM) Mistress_Janice: "What happened? This whole place is a mess, folk are missing and out of touch, the staff seems to be gone..."
(10:17:40 PM) dkap: The Bear Mage gestures, and the scene plays back:
(10:18:15 PM) dkap: One of the admins turns to the others: "Nate is gone? Good, let's kill this animal, finish up, and get out."
(10:18:35 PM) dkap: Bear Mage: Slight confused look.
(10:18:41 PM) Mistress_Janice is now known as Nathan
(10:18:59 PM) dkap: Another admin whips out a gun and shoots the Bear Mage.
(10:19:08 PM) dkap: The bullets hit his ward and stick.
(10:19:10 PM) ***Nathan mutters, "Damn it. My apologies," as he watches.
(10:19:39 PM) dkap: Another shifts (which the individual who normally looks like that, can't do) and tries to smother the mage.
(10:20:01 PM) dkap: Bear Mage image gestures, and that is the coating on the far wall.
(10:20:16 PM) dkap: All the other "admin" folks "SHIT" and run.
(10:20:21 PM) ***Nathan begins to check out the bodies for clues.
(10:20:57 PM) dkap: Bear Mage takes the illusion down. Shrugs, and asks you if this is a normal occurrence.
(10:21:53 PM) Nathan: "No. The school's clearly been invaded - I'm beginning to wonder if that pilot was a part of it. And they do seem to know who I am..."
(10:23:25 PM) dkap: Bear Mage ... I thought there was something off in the way that people greeting you stayed at a distance ...
(10:24:17 PM) Nathan: "There's apparently quite a bit off. I'm not finding anyone who should be here - everyone seems to be out of touch." Search of the bodies turn up anything besides the gun?
(10:24:39 PM) Nathan: Oh, no, the shifter's dead, not the shooter, my mistake.
(10:24:55 PM) dkap: There aren't any bodies, but the smear on the wall, and the gun was grabbed.
(10:25:04 PM) dkap: Right.
(10:26:34 PM) Nathan: All right. Anything here in Admin I can use? Emergency stashes, PA system, key rings?
(10:30:18 PM) dkap: PA System, yes. Key rings? Not so much. Pens, pencils, forms, envelopes, etc? Yep.
(10:30:22 PM) dkap: What counts as useful?
(10:30:50 PM) Nathan: I dunno. Stuff Admin might keep around in case of trouble.
(10:31:51 PM) ***Nathan looks to the Bear Mage. "I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone. Last I can figure out, some of my friends went to a rendezvous I'm going to check out." He hesitates by the PA system. "I should try to warn whoever's left... but if I'm the last one, all I'll do is let them know where I am."
(10:31:57 PM) dkap: Nope. They mostly depend on their own skills, because anything else can (and has, at one point or another) been taken from them and used against them.
(10:32:15 PM) ***Nathan decides. "They knew where I was - and they waited for me to leave. I should warn people." He warms up the PA system.
(10:32:40 PM) dkap: Nate: you could record a "message" with the AI, and instruct it to play back the message after a period of time ...
(10:36:44 PM) ***Nathan will record, "The school is under assault. Administration has been abducted and replaced, Security is missing, as are what faculty I can check on and many students. We seem to have been overwhelmed in short order - I recommend flight and reporting to whatever authorities may be persuaded to listen."
(10:38:18 PM) ***Nathan turns to the Bear Mage. "Maybe that will help. Once word gets out, all kinds of superheroes will be all over this place - most of the students are their children. Come on, let's head for the library, and see if I can either find my friends, or more clues as to where they've ended up."
(10:39:49 PM) dkap: Bear Mage is happy with that.
(10:41:49 PM) dkap: You head for the library.
(10:41:53 PM) ***Nathan heads for the library, and the 'all hands' rendezvous. Any idea how long ago any of this happened? Any of the messages mention anything?
(10:41:57 PM) dkap: Oook. Whoops, wrong library.
(10:42:12 PM) dkap: Time stamps are from the last day and a bit.
(10:42:20 PM) Nathan: Not necessarily. He could be anywhere, given L-Space.
(10:42:32 PM) dkap: The most recent was 4 hours ago.
(10:42:46 PM) dkap: True enough, but no L-space this time.
(10:44:01 PM) dkap: You reach the library. The power is off (which is unusual), there seems to be some ... destruction done to the grounds around the library, and some marks on the building, but no obvious breaches.
(10:44:23 PM) Nathan: Can we get in?
(10:44:42 PM) dkap: There are some bodies around the library as well, none of them you recognize either from previous adversaries, or your fellow student body, or faculty.
(10:45:03 PM) Nathan: So, only attackers fallen. Hopefully that's a good sign.
(10:45:15 PM) dkap: You might be able to, provided you don't trip anything, and those inside acknowledge you, and let you in, somehow ...
(10:45:19 PM) dkap: Indeed.
(10:45:53 PM) Nathan: Is there some sign there're still folk inside?
(10:46:14 PM) Nathan: Try a window. Wave arms.
(10:48:17 PM) dkap: After a few minutes, a sign shows up in one of the (other) windows saying "Prove that you are Nate."
(10:49:44 PM) Nathan: Hmm. How do I prove I'm *not* a shapeshifter? Tinker? Nah, anyone could have him. Do we have any doppelganger protocols established?
(10:50:31 PM) dkap: You do have code words/gestures ... you could mention incidents that others at school might know, but not the adversaries ...
(10:51:03 PM) Nathan: Try the code words/gestures then. If we're *that* compromised, better to know now.
(10:52:15 PM) dkap: There is the appropriate 5 exchanges, and a window opens, with an arm out gesturing you in.
(10:52:33 PM) Nathan: Can the Bear Mage make it in? "He's with me."
(10:58:09 PM) dkap: They seem to accept that, although are surprised that you have such an ally, and that he can actually squeeze through the window space, being as large as he is.
(10:59:15 PM) Nathan: "I got transported off-world and out-dimension, tangled up in some prophecy, and just made it back. This is the Bear Mage. Can somebody fill me in?"
(10:59:29 PM) ***Nathan is trying not to appear too anxious as he looks around for any sign of Flare.
(11:00:31 PM) Auricle: gotta go to bed, night!

(11:12:12 PM) dkap: A good point.
(11:12:13 PM) kayila: I would accept, except it's time for this one to head to bed..
