Amelia Johnson, Chumley Metrodora, Drae Blitzen, Kiara Umbrielle
Beth, Jenny, Ryan, Flight Attendant, Copilot, Eric the ATC guy, Drae's Alpha Team - Horrorshow as lead, Drae's Bravo Team - Millie as Lead, Drae's Kringle? team, Mr. Albert's Cleanup Team
[7:34 PM] Amelia: Am I able to get any scans of the interior of the packages before opening them? Or is the radiation preventing that?
[7:36 PM] GM: The radioactivity is preventing that.
[7:02 PM] GM: When last we left our intrepid heroes, Amelia was about to unwrap the packages, and the ATC conversation had just begun.
[7:08 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Given all of the information that Kiara has taken in, does she think the co-pilot is currently mentally incapacitated?
[7:09 PM] GM: Given all the information you have taken in, you are uncertain that the co-pilot was not, at least partially, in on it, voluntarily or not. Especially with his willingness to jump out of the plane, instead of landing it.
[7:12 PM] Chumley Metrodora: When last we were together, I was chatting on the side with the Chief Controller. Asking about less public places we could get the plane to.
[7:13 PM] GM: It's not that big of an airport, but some of the cargo areas could be evacuated. But remember, there is also a bit of a fracas going on at the gate that the Prague plane is supposed to be heading toward.
[7:13 PM] GM: So there might not be as much control of the airfield as you would like.
[7:29 PM] GM: On the plane some of the passengers are showing signs of being less passed out. Almost as if they were scheduled to be awake for the final moment, but not be able to interfere until that final moment.
[7:37 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Leans into the co-pilot and points out: "Have you done this before? Jumping out of a plane, I mean? There's a lot that can go wrong, equipment malfunction. Look at the altitude on that gauge. Jumping out from this height ... the wind, the temperature… it wouldn't be a clean fall. We might have a fighting chance here," She can continue, her voice firm but persuasive. Kiara is attempting to use the co-pilot's fear of dying by falling and overriding his drive to jump out of the plane into trying to the land.
[7:39 PM] GM: The copilot responds: "If we don't jump now, we will never live."
[7:40 PM] GM: Copilot: "Just untie me so at lease I can live."
[7:49 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Kiara quickly realizes that the co-pilot is a dead end; she quickly reinforces his restraints and gags him quickly. She goes to push the pilot door closed. Does she notice anything else unusual at this point?
[7:52 PM] GM: Anything more unusual than the current catalog? Well, the evidence of only two parachutes might count.
[8:00 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Turns her immediate attention back to the ATC chatter: Prague flight here, ATC. We are indeed experiencing some unexpected turbulence. It's a bit more significant than initially reported. We will need a revised landing approach.
[8:01 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Nebula?
[8:02 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae, Address the Prague Flight as Nebula. I believe I know that voice. And if I am right, you have met her too.
[8:09 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Is completely startled in the moment to hear a name out of her past: Acknowledged on Nebula landing pattern ATC, am standing by for immediate instruction.
[8:10 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae, that's Kiara. Let me see if I can get her in a less public way.
[8:11 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Would Chumley know Kiara's sat phone number?
[8:21 PM] Drae Blitzen: Looks at Chumley: The one you brought to the gym?
[8:21 PM] Drae Blitzen: ... You got all kinds of friends.
[8:21 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Yeah, like you can talk. slight smile
[8:22 PM] Drae Blitzen: True.
[8:22 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Tell her, we need some detailed info ... get the 10 digit altimeter code.
[8:23 PM] Drae Blitzen: Hello Prague Flight? Can we get your altimeter code to triangulate approach?
[8:24 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Tell her should be 10 digits: 8816 followed by 8 digits.
[8:25 PM] Drae Blitzen: It's a roughly 12 digit code, beginning with 8816 and will have dashes.
[8:25 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Responds back calmly on the ATC Our altimeter appears to be malfunctioning, it is stating the following: 8816 5 867 5309.
[8:26 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Pulls out cell encrypted phone, from talking to Drae, calls 8816 5 867 5309
[8:26 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Come on Kiara... pick up
[8:27 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Mutes the mic on the ATC headset while muttering to herself: This better be who I think this is.
[8:27 PM] GM: High grade encrypted call incoming.
[8:28 PM] GM: US intelligence cipher.
[8:27 PM] Chumley Metrodora: As soon as it picks up, Chumley puts it on speaker.
[8:28 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Flips up her sat phone: Chumley?
[8:28 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Kiara what the hell is going on ... and why are you on this flight?
[8:30 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Sarcasm Well I always love vacationing on a hijacked airplane where literally everyone has been drugged with some sort of poison gas that was transmitted through the oxygen system. For some reason, I was physically unaffected, and overpowered the FA and the co-pilot that was in on it, and here we are.
[8:31 PM] Chumley Metrodora: There were canisters loaded on the plane before takeoff. Nasty Stuff. Can you confirm content?
[8:31 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Do not go look.
[8:32 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Promptly relays all she knows about the gas, and the co-pilot's insistence that if we land the plane everyone will die and sends those diagrams over to Chumley via text.
[8:33 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Can we safely land this plane - there are over 200 innocent people on board here.
[8:33 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Chumley shows Drae as well.
[8:33 PM] GM: Oh, and to add to the stress of the moment, the countdown light under the autopilot timer is now flashing.
[8:34 PM] Chumley Metrodora: You remember Drae, he owns the Range and Climbing facility I took you to in Manhattan.
[8:34 PM] Chumley Metrodora: He is here with me.
[8:34 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And looking at the pics.
[8:34 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Oh great now there is a red flashing light with a countdown button, this cant be good.
[8:34 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Relays this information also to Chumley.
[8:34 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Have you learned any flying skills since our time in Japan, or at the range, or at the cabin?
[8:35 PM] GM: (It's well labeled as "Autopilot" if that helps.)
[8:36 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: I mean, I have very limited flying experience. All in small planes. Some hang-gliding.
[8:37 PM] Chumley Metrodora: For the time being ... get on the stick ... and make sure it stays level ... from you Autopilot light, I would assume ... you now have the stick.
[8:37 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: And to be clear, it appears that the auto-pilot light is now flashing red. It must be malfunctioning.
[8:39 PM] Drae Blitzen: Looks at Eric (the ATC guy). Flashing red light ... insight?
[8:39 PM] Chumley Metrodora: to Drae: Do you have anyone who can talk her though landing this thing ... safely?
[8:39 PM] GM: One of the folks in the tower raises his hand.
[8:40 PM] Drae Blitzen: Points to Eric, who is here, who we didn't kill, who's job it is to do shit like this.
[8:40 PM] GM: (Not Drae's folks, but someone who works there.)
[8:40 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Throws the phone on speaker, grabs the yoke and attempts to level the plane out.
[8:40 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Get up here. Looking at Eric.
[8:41 PM] Drae Blitzen: I mean, yes. But this kind soul happens to be actually in the room.
[8:41 PM] GM: Yoke doesn't move until you actually hit the button that disengages the autopilot ... the one right above the flashing red light.
[8:41 PM] Chumley Metrodora: We want her parked over there. Pointing a big open space away from most other things.
[8:41 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Relays back over the ATC: The plane is not responding to any sort of movement from the yoke - do I need to engage the rudder petals or is there something else locking it?
[8:43 PM] Chumley Metrodora: This is the Tower ... they have a guy here, Eric, who is going to help you ... listen and follow instructions.
[8:43 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Chumley hands the phone to Eric ... and steps back.
[8:42 PM] GM: A calm voice over the sat-phone, that is not known to Kiara starts to talk her through how to put the plan into her control.
[8:44 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Masks the ATC mike again.
[8:44 PM] GM: Eric switches to primary on the sat phone.
[8:44 PM] GM: Eric: OK, what's on the actual altimeter, and can you see the level bubble?.
[8:44 PM] Chumley Metrodora: At a volume only Drae would hear over the Earpiece: I can stay here with Eric ... till the plane is down ... if you want to go get your folks ready on the ground.
[8:45 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I will stay on comms.
[8:46 PM] Drae Blitzen: Nods points to two of the team: You two, stay with them, keep them safe. The rest, on me.
[8:46 PM] Drae Blitzen: Bravo, sitrep.
[8:46 PM] GM: Drae, your team in the terminal is report a lot of phones have dialed their loved ones with shouting and panic and abruptly cutting off, and there are some folks who are insisting that they hear from the passengers directly. And there is, for some reason an Al Jazeria news team interviewing people.
[8:47 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Speaking to Eric over the SAT line relays the true altitude and affirms she can see the level bubble.
[8:49 PM] Drae Blitzen: Bravo, put 2 on listening to those people saying they are talking to passengers. 2 on that news team. I want to know what they are reporting on, when nothing has happened.
[8:49 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: The bubble is currently in the center.
[8:49 PM] GM: Eric begins to talk you down, he's calm and good at this, and you are capable, and can follow his instructions.
[8:50 PM] Drae Blitzen: GM, is there anyone I can contact who can trace any of those cell calls?
[8:51 PM] GM: Drae: They are reporting on the panic in the plane and have started gathering "casualty data" and are talking up the deaths of the family and loved ones on the plane. Your inside information shows that none of that is going on, but, if any of the numbers of the people on the plane are dialed, there is the panic and chaos and an abrupt call break.
[8:52 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Sets herself to actively listen and follow the complicated instructions coming from Eric, while still keeping alert for any potential interference from outside the cockpit door.
[8:52 PM] GM: The calls seem to be reaching the plane, according to the equipment trace.
[8:53 PM] GM: Kiara: The cockpit door is well insulated, but you don't hear anything unusual, regardless.
[8:53 PM] Drae Blitzen: Looks at Chumley before heading out: Chumley, How does a plane full of passed out people make phone calls?
[8:54 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Black Box ... Probably in Luggage
[8:54 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Intercepting, and sending its own preprogrammed response.
[8:54 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Guessing.
[8:55 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Or there is another person on the plan who is still awake.
[8:55 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Again, guessing.
[8:55 PM] Drae Blitzen: Latter is my fear.
[8:56 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Yeah ... mine too ... but ... Kiara knows her way around hand to hand if it comes to it. And aces with a long gun too.
[8:56 PM] GM: Kiara, you have rapport with Eric, and he is happy you are being so successful in managing to bring the plane down. There is a slight bobble when he asks you to do the cabin announcement, since that seems smashed. But beyond that, you seem to be managing.
[8:56 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Taught her myself
[8:56 PM] GM: Drae, about time if you want to get your Alpha team to meet the plane.
[8:57 PM] Drae Blitzen: Bravo, Run interference on the news team. Make them make a mistake. They are here too early. 2 on civvies, you reinforce interference team. look for something out of position.
[8:57 PM] Drae Blitzen: Alpha, with me. We have a plane to catch.
[8:57 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I will be along when the plane is down ...
[8:57 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Responds over SAT phone: We seem to have an issue with the intercom system. It appears damaged, and I'm unable to make a cabin announcement.
[8:58 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And I am on comms ... I will keep you up to date.
[8:58 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Chumley leans in: Remember, the passengers are all asleep, or worse.
[8:59 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Consider skipping the announcements.
[8:59 PM] GM: The "fasten seat belt" light seems to be still working though ...
[9:00 PM] Chumley Metrodora: How long till we are on the ground?
[9:00 PM] GM: Maybe 2 minutes on the outside.
[9:00 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae: We are 2 min out ... you should see the plane in the distance just about any time.
[9:01 PM] GM: Kiara: The descent vector is giving you a bit of trouble, and now the fuel light is flashing. One of your engines just cut out.
[9:02 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Stepping back ... so only the earpiece can hear: They are coming in hot, on fumes, one engine down.
[9:02 PM] GM: Kiara, you have flown enough before that you instinctively compensate, but ... it is more of a challenge.
[9:03 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Responds on SAT phone: We've lost engine power and are having difficulty maintaining descent vector. Fuel gauge is flashing, any chance there is a malfunction here that can be reset?
[9:04 PM] GM: Eric: "Nothing in your reach, you would need an engineer to reset it from below."
[9:05 PM] GM: Eric: "But with an engine out, it's probably that they dumped or siphoned fuel to make sure of a crash."
[9:05 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: My experience is limited, but i am attempting a glide landing and making corrections here or there. any input here would be appreciated
[9:05 PM] GM: Eric:" But you are close enough to dead-stick it, at this point, regardless of your engines."
[9:06 PM] GM: Eric: "I'm going to have you throttle back the engines, so you have more fuel for breaking. It will be ... a touch more difficult, are you up to that?"
[9:06 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Her internal monologue goes to ... I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
[9:07 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: A dry chuckle escapes from her lips: I mean, if it is this or death, yes I am up for it. Or cake would be appreciated too.
[9:08 PM] GM: Drae: the plane is coming in ... eerily quiet.
[9:08 PM] GM: Eric: "We both know the cake is a lie."
[9:09 PM] Chumley Metrodora: into the headset Full engine loss, they are gliding ...
[9:10 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Eric, when I land this plane with one engine, I want cake, it better not be a lie.
[9:10 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Seriously, Eric, talk me through it. I'm ready for your instructions.
[9:10 PM] GM: Eric: Instructs you on a full restart of all the engines in reverse just as your wheels are about to touch the ground.
[9:10 PM] Drae Blitzen: Oooookay... Alpha. hold back a little and be ready to sprint when they come to a stop.
[9:10 PM] Drae Blitzen: Chumley, tell the fine lady she can have cake.
[9:11 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Leaning back in: Kiara ... We will get you any kind of cake you want, once this is over.
[9:11 PM] GM: All but one of them start and pull your speed back from around 600 mph down to something much more reasonable, fairly quickly.
[9:12 PM] GM: Kiara, the copilot is all of a sudden, trying to kick some jerry-rigged switch just out of his reach.
[9:12 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Eric, we managed to restart some of the engines and slow down the aircraft significantly. However, I'm unsure about the status of all engines.
[9:13 PM] GM: After you are down to about 20 or so MPH, all the engines sputter and die. Thankfully the wheel-brakes seem to still be eating away at your speed.
[9:14 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Leans in on her instincts and attempts to disable the co-pilot while maintaining correct pressure on the yoke.
[9:14 PM] Drae Blitzen: Alpha, go, go go!
[9:15 PM] GM: Kiara, you break his leg, a little sloppy but gets the job done.
[9:15 PM] GM: Drae: your Alpha team is the one with the MOPP gear, right?
[9:15 PM] Chumley Metrodora: As soon as the plan is full stop ... Chumley leans in: Kiara, stay put, Drae has folks boarding the plane ... keep your head down ... and I will tell you when to open the door.
[9:15 PM] Drae Blitzen: Running for the plane. Chumley, Have her open any doors or releases the moment she is stopped.
[9:16 PM] Drae Blitzen: Yup.
[9:16 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae, Let me know when you want Kiara to open the cockpit door?
[9:16 PM] Chumley Metrodora: To Eric. Are we all set here?
[9:17 PM] GM: OK the plane is stopped, Kiara, the out of place rig, seems to be tied to the door release as well.
[9:18 PM] GM: Eric: Well ... she's down. Best non-pilot, pilot I've ever talked down.
[9:18 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Kiara ... Open the doors ... cockpit ... and outer ... let Drae's team in.
[9:18 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Over the SAT phone: We've landed safely, but we discovered a suspicious rigged switch connected to the door release. We've restrained the copilot for now.
[9:18 PM] Chumley Metrodora: To Eric: Yeah ... she is like that ... and she has flown some small planes and gliders.
[9:19 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae ... Careful with the doors ... they are RIGGED.
[9:19 PM] GM: Eric: Is there another name I should use beyond "Nebula" for the paperwork?
[9:20 PM] Drae Blitzen: ... Confirm.
[9:20 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Kiara examines the rigged switches - can she disable the tampering so the doors can be safely opened?
[9:20 PM] Drae Blitzen: Looking for a way to get into this plane without it exploding.
[9:20 PM] GM: Kiara, you don't know, might be better to open your own way in and out.
[9:21 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: To Eric: I like my cake. Chocolate. Shaken, not stirred.
[9:21 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Chumley takes the Phone, and heads towards Drae and the others.
[9:21 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Is Drae in MOPP
[9:22 PM] GM: Yes, all of team Alpha is, now including the two left behind with you.
[9:22 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Keeping to a safe distance.
[9:22 PM] GM: And it will take you a few minutes to get there, it's all the way across the field.
[9:22 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Chumley, do any of your guys have enough technical knowledge of how I can get out of here without activating any of the door releases?
[9:23 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae ... who can talk Kiara through disabling some of the door issues for you?
[9:24 PM] Drae Blitzen: Honestly, GM... I think I can... unless there is someone else better suited on the team?
[9:24 PM] GM: Drae: you can see Kiara through the cockpit window.
[9:24 PM] GM: Kiara: there are a bunch of people in heavy protective MOPP gear around the plane.
[9:25 PM] GM: The co-pilot seems to have passed out due to pain, the flight attendant has not yet come to.
[9:25 PM] GM: The plane has some noise now coming from the passenger cabin.
[9:26 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Kiara: Open the window ... talk to the folks in the MOPP suits.
[9:26 PM] GM: Chumley: you have the comms to Drae, and the sat phone to Kiara.
[9:26 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Chumley, I can't exactly roll down the window here.
[9:27 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I do
[9:27 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Kiara: They should open, slide, or something ... or break the jamb thing if you have to.
[9:28 PM] Drae Blitzen: Disabling this should fall into my skill-set ... can I talk her through this?
[9:29 PM] GM: Drae, you can, or you could climb up, and open it from the outside with a small "door-knocker".
[9:29 PM] Drae Blitzen:
[9:30 PM] Drae Blitzen: Climbs up to the window, signs the name "Jenny" and instructs her to back away from the window with a hand motion.
[9:31 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Kiara: back away from the window, someone is about to open it from the outside.
[9:31 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Um ... take cover. if you can.
[9:31 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Uses the passed out co-pilot as cover.
[9:31 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae ... do it.
[9:31 PM] Drae Blitzen: Pops window open
[9:33 PM] GM: There is a little pressure difference, when the pressure wave passes, but beyond that, no injury to you. The co-pilot is now bleeding for a new series of cuts. Thankfully he went unconscious when you broke his leg.
[9:34 PM] GM: Kiara, you can point to the possible, fairly well concealed booby-trap, so it doesn't accidentally get tripped.
[9:35 PM] GM: Drae, yes, that's Kiara, who you met at your establishment.
[9:36 PM] Drae Blitzen: Can the device be easily disarmed? She mentioned innocents before?
[9:36 PM] Drae Blitzen: Ah, you DO get around.
[9:37 PM] GM: Not without getting out of your MOPP gear.
[9:37 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Well, Drae, you do pop up in the most unexpected of places. I didn't realize you were now into delivering cakes to hijacked planes.
[9:38 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Excuse me, I should probably try to calm down all of the frightened people on board.
[9:38 PM] Drae Blitzen: Good to see you again. Welcome back to New York, it's much better on the ground. May I escort you there for your cake? It was a bit to shaken for the trip to the airfield ...
[9:38 PM] Drae Blitzen: Had you made it to the gate ...
[9:40 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: breathes deeply and opens the cockpit door What does Kiara see?
[9:41 PM] GM: Most of the people either still strapped in or up and getting their luggage from the overheads, and being twitted by the still seated people that they have to wait until the get to their gate. Some are still quite passed out, and their companions are trying to wake them. Panic has not yet set in.
[9:43 PM] GM: These are mostly seasoned international travelers, and they know what not being at a gate means. That the airport screwed up ... again.
[9:45 PM] Drae Blitzen: Bravo, can we get any carts to the LZ for passengers?
[9:45 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Speaks privately to Chumley: We still have passengers who have not woken up, we need to get medical personnel on standby to assist.
[9:46 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae has all the connections for this. And is there with you.
[9:46 PM] GM: Drae: Millie is ... dealing with an issue, apparently the reporters were unexpectedly armed, and put up resistance to being told to stand down. The will be available in a few minutes, after they mop up the last of them.
[9:47 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae: I am back on the ground ... where do you want me?
[9:47 PM] Drae Blitzen: Alpha-2, I need you to be a hub. Connect medical, transportation, and psych resources to out location.
[9:47 PM] GM: Kiara: looking at the exit door, you do see evidence of tampering, and ... you don't like the look of it.
[9:48 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Steps out of the cockpit and snags a few items off of the unconscious FA to put on her self without anyone noticing.
[9:49 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Starts communicating with the passengers in a very calming and warm manner. I know this has been a very unexpected and unsettling experience. I want to assure you that we have landed safely at LGA, and the situation is now under control. Security personnel are currently on board to assist us. We kindly ask for your patience and cooperation as they help us deplane rapidly. For those of you who may have concerns about fellow passengers who are still unconscious, we are getting medical assistance . We understand you may have questions. Unfortunately, we cannot provide specific details at this time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please remain in your seats.
[9:49 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Steps back to Drae. Check out that door, it appears to have been tampered with.
[9:50 PM] Drae Blitzen: Takes a peek... how bad we talking here?
[9:51 PM] GM: You do not want to open that door until you are sure the payload is secure, and ... possibly not even then, without some time with some delicate tools in your hands.
[9:53 PM] Drae Blitzen: Is there a chain ladder here?
[9:56 PM] GM: Unlikely, why? The standard way down, is to open the door, and inflate the raft as a slide. But that would definitely trigger ... whatever that is.
[9:57 PM] Drae Blitzen: Because we already have an un-standard way in. I just used it. With a ladder, they all could too.
[9:58 PM] GM: You are fairly certain that escorting all these civilians out through the bloody and partially destroyed cockpit would ... not be the best of ideas.
[9:58 PM] GM: Better to cut a separate hole in the side of the plane, and wheel up one of those portable ladders.
[9:59 PM] Drae Blitzen: I was just looking for the most non-destructive method, but... we can go there.
[10:00 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Kiara goes over to check the emergency exit doors for additional tampering.
[10:00 PM] GM: All of them look wired.
[10:01 PM] GM: The only doors that don't seem to be wired, are the cockpit, the galley, access, and the bathroom doors.
[10:01 PM] Drae Blitzen: Alpha-3, prep for a wall breach. Location: between main and wing doors. As close to the middle as possible.
[10:01 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Continues to the back of the plane calming passengers and also investigating for any additional tampering or areas of suspicion
[10:03 PM] GM: Everything else seems in place. Some of the folks are getting a bit quarrelsome, and there is some man insisting that if he is going to be forced to wait, he wants another whiskey sour.
[10:04 PM] GM: Alpha three: "Acid, torch, or boom?"
[10:04 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Could I suggest saw?
[10:05 PM] GM: Alpha three: "Saw might work, but we'd need a pilot hole to start."
[10:05 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Rescue truck would have a circular saw ... that would do this real easy.
[10:06 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Are all of the other FAs still completely unconscious?
[10:06 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Standard airport equipment for fire.
[10:06 PM] Drae Blitzen: Can we acid a pilot hole and then saw, 3?
[10:07 PM] GM: Alpha three: Sighs. " ... might be faster to wait on the rescue truck."
[10:07 PM] GM: (There is definitely a disappointed tone in her voice.)
[10:08 PM] Drae Blitzen: Then make their trip seamless. And I'll finds something for you to breach in the near future.
[10:09 PM] GM: Alpha three: "Roger that."
[10:10 PM] Drae Blitzen: Goes to Kiara quietly: So we gotta take out the wall next to 13 A. Could you use the goodwill you have built up to convince them to move and remain calm to fix the mechanical malfunction we are having as we would like to get them to their next stop as efficiently as possible?
[10:12 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Speaks to Drae quietly: Is it possible there is another exit door in one of the rear galleys? There were two parachutes and the co-pilot was insistent on leaving so there had to be an exit out of here that wasn't rigged.
[10:14 PM] Drae Blitzen: Sometimes you just get martyrs, but it never hurts to check. I'll look, please convince 13 A just in case.
[10:15 PM] Drae Blitzen: Goes to check the back while waiting for the rescue truck.
[10:15 PM] GM: The galley door and elevator down are clear.
[10:16 PM] Drae Blitzen: And can I open a way out of the plane from there?
[10:16 PM] GM: Alpha three: "They are ready to start cutting, once you give the all clear."
[10:17 PM] GM: Drae: You can at least get below to the cargo area, and storage area, from there. The cargo doors and/or the food service doors might not be rigged.
[10:18 PM] GM: Drae, did you hand a comms set to Kiara, at any point?
[10:18 PM] GM: (I lost track, alas)
[10:18 PM] GM: Or is Chumley still the switchboard?
[10:19 PM] Drae Blitzen: I did not, but request to let Drae's brain be on enough to do so once I was gonna actually be away from her.
[10:19 PM] GM: Drae definitely would have thought of it, even if Drae's player didn't.
[10:21 PM] GM: Kiara, the folks you are helping move are ... not feeling all that well. It might be a side-effect of the gas, possibly, or it might be something else.
[10:21 PM] Chumley Metrodora: We would have also ended the call when Kiara came up on comms as well.
[10:21 PM] GM: Drae: when you head down, your Geiger counter starts chattering at you.
[10:24 PM] Drae Blitzen: Over comms: Too much radiation here. Alpha-3, make me a door.
[10:24 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: I talk to the affected passengers and ask them about their symptoms and what specifically they are. Do I detect any common patterns based upon all of the information I have?
[10:26 PM] GM: Drae: at the level of chatter your MOPP gear should be good for at least 2 hours, but if it gets worse, then you might want to work in shifts. And you definitely don't want whatever is down here being exposed to unprotected folk, which a sudden door might do.
[10:27 PM] GM: Kiara: yes, they are all feeling nauseated, and dehydrated, and some of them are just itchy all over.
[10:28 PM] GM: Drae: the food service door seems clear, but, again, if there is dust in the air, you might not want to open a door down here, without containment measures.
[10:28 PM] Drae Blitzen: I would want to close the galley doors and get these people out of this plane
[10:29 PM] Drae Blitzen: Get this breach on.
[10:29 PM] GM: Drae, the galley door has to close for you to descend.
[10:29 PM] GM: So that should still be sealed.
[10:30 PM] GM: Kiara, all but one of them are clear, and that one is giving you a bit of Karen attitude.
[10:31 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: I soothe the Karen by stating that I will be sure to get her to my manager just as soon as we get everyone to de-plane.
[10:31 PM] GM: Kiara, something about knowing how these things work, and wanting to speak to "her very good friend" the pilot.
[10:34 PM] GM: Drae: what are you looking for/at where you are?
[10:35 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: smiles warmly My priority right now is ensuring everyone disembarks safely and receives any medical attention needed. Once everyone disembarks safely, I will escort you promptly to the pilot.
[10:35 PM] GM: Chumley: they were willing to hand the saw over to Alpha three, and are busy pulling up with one of those portable stairs attached to a truck thing.
[10:36 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Listening to everything: Kiara, Tell her to look out the window, Ask her if she really wants to be sitting in this row, when the wall opens.
[10:36 PM] Drae Blitzen: Any safe ways out as well as whatever is giving off all this radiation?
[10:36 PM] GM: Kiara, she seems to start to acquiesce, and then makes a break for the cockpit.
[10:37 PM] Drae Blitzen: Chumley, when I find the stuff, what, if anything should I be checking for?
[10:38 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Immediately intercepts her and restrains her.
[10:38 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae, its several canisters. Since the pics I saw were not overly clear, its hard to tell what was put in them, only that folks in MOPP suits did it.
[10:38 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I suggest extreme caution.
[10:39 PM] Chumley Metrodora: They also killed everyone who touched the canisters on the other end.
[10:39 PM] Chumley Metrodora: So there is no one to ask.
[10:39 PM] Drae Blitzen: Lovely.
[10:40 PM] Chumley Metrodora: How big were the canisters?
[10:41 PM] GM: Drae: you find said canisters, and they are rigged to blow. The Geiger counter is much more active, closer to them. It is likely that whatever is on the inside also contaminated the outside some. Which might be why the loaders were ... cleaned the way they were.
[10:43 PM] GM:
[10:43 PM] Drae Blitzen: Can I un-rig them to blow without touching this stuff?
[10:45 PM] GM: Yes, whomever rigged them basically just placed the C4 on the canisters, with the wires sticking out to the skoda detonators. You could pull the wires, pull the detonators, or just lift the C4 off and put it elsewhere, whichever you choose, or in whatever combination you choose.
[10:47 PM] Drae Blitzen: So we take off the C4, pull out the wires, and make it anti-boom ready.
[10:51 PM] GM: Drae: done. It's likely that some of the skoda detonators were actually damaged enough by the radiation that they might not have even functioned. You are not impressed at this part of the operation. Oh, and when moving them, you found the corpse of whomever was supposed to be down here, he has a very clean slit throat, which means he was probably taken by surprise by someone who he trusted to get that close.
[10:52 PM] GM: Kiara: the Karen stops karening. She seems to have tripped and hit her head along the way though. That will probably have to be seen to by medical. Now everyone is clear.
[10:55 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Surveys the passengers. Are there any other passengers that seem to be agitated or acting differently from the general populace?
[10:56 PM] GM: No more so than normal. The "whiskey sour" guy is complaining but nothing really else. People are still somewhat groggy, so ... there isn't a lot of resistance.
[10:58 PM] GM: Drae: You find the phone switch black box, with a UPS attached. it is the same UPS attached to the wires that are coming down from the main cabin, so it might not be wise to disconnect it just yet.
[11:01 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Moves down to 13-A and convinces them to move so Alpha-3 can move forward.
[11:03 PM] GM: Alpha three - starts cutting through.
[11:05 PM] Drae Blitzen: On comms: I found that black box that was making the calls. There is a wire that heads up to the main cabin. If you can find where it leads, you may find an accomplice.
[11:08 PM] GM: Drae: the wires head up pretty much through the door chases. You would realize that fairly fast.
[11:08 PM] GM: There is now a nice sizable hole in the side of the plane, and the stairwell is being wheeled up. The passengers are now trying to come to grips with this not being at all normal.
[11:09 PM] GM: Chumley, what is your position?
[11:11 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I am waiting for instructions, a safe distance from the plane.
[11:13 PM] GM: People are exiting.
[11:14 PM] GM: The Geiger counters on the Alpha team's suits are beginning to slowly click.
[11:15 PM] Drae Blitzen: Alpha-3, is whatever is radioactive around you moving?
[11:16 PM] Chumley Metrodora: If it is a person ... someone has been close to the canisters, or their materials.
[11:16 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Check the people.
[11:17 PM] Drae Blitzen: Might be our accomplice... Alpha 3 and 4, check them as the get off.
[11:18 PM] GM: Everyone deplaning seems to have about the same exposure level.
[11:19 PM] GM: The only folk left on the plane at this point are the flight attendant, the copilot, the Karen, Drae and Kiara.
[11:19 PM] GM: Some people seem still very out of it from the gas, possibly.
[11:21 PM] GM: Millie: Terminal contained. Do you still need us?
[11:23 PM] Drae Blitzen: I want a report on the news team. What brought them here? Where did they get their clues for the scoop? Get that info and then you can disappear with my thanks.
[11:24 PM] GM: Millie: "Roger that. Out."
[11:25 PM] Drae Blitzen: Chumley, Your friends who thought this was a lost cause... What's their capability to handle Hazardous materials?
[11:26 PM] GM: Chumley: You could call them to ask, but ... you did take their phone, so ... they wouldn't be able to pick up.
[11:26 PM] Chumley Metrodora: No Idea, I saw one of them once before, the other never before.
[11:26 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I never did get a name for them ... and I have their phone.
[11:26 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Let me see what contacts they left me.
[11:26 PM] Drae Blitzen: To Kringle coms coordinator: A lady is going to tell you what cake she wants... can you please go the the bakery in Park slope, and bring some bay the next time you come to the range?
[11:27 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Are there any contacts in the phone I lifted on my way out of the office?
[11:28 PM] GM: There are, but ... none of them are labeled in any way that is useful to you. You could start calling them at random.
[11:28 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Using my personal cell, I call the office, and talk to my manager.
[11:29 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Do we have a way to get those folks I was with this morning on a call?
[11:30 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Wanders over to Chumley. I have contacts that could probably handle these materials.
[11:31 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: I can put in a call to see what can be done.
[11:31 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Please do. I could be all day chasing these guys ... and never find them again.
[11:31 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Puts phone back in pocket.
[11:32 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Pulls out her cell phone and dials up Ryan.
[11:32 PM] GM: Chumley: No one at works picks up. It's as if there is no one there.
[11:32 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae: Kiara has some contacts who should be able to handle this.
[11:33 PM] Ryan: on the phone to Kiara: "You still in the air?"
[11:34 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: I was just so ready to get home, that I landed the plane myself.
[11:34 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: We have an urgent situation here - we discovered radioactive materials on the plane that require disposal. Is this a project you have the personnel to handle?
[11:36 PM] Ryan: "Um ... I can neither confirm nor deny, but ... if folks in MOPP gear show up, Albert should be the one in charge."
[11:36 PM] Ryan: "How bad?"
[11:36 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Bad enough that I had to land a commercial jet at LGA.
[11:37 PM] Ryan: "Not that part, how bad is the exposure? Will we need to reroute the trains on the eastern seaboard?"
[11:39 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Asks Chumley: Can you contact Drae over the comms? I believe Ryan has some questions that I am not qualified to answer. Also Albert from MOPPD can handle clean up.
[11:43 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Takes Phone. Hi, your looking at several canisters of material. From the look at the Geiger counter, they are probably leaking pretty good. Everyone on the plane has low level exposure.
[11:43 PM] GM: Drae is still in the belly of the plane, and you don't want to go there, because that is definitely hot.
[11:44 PM] Chumley Metrodora: The canisters themselves, might fit in 50Gal drums, 1 Each.
[11:44 PM] Chumley Metrodora: It is not clear what the material in the canisters is.
[11:44 PM] Ryan: Thank you. I will let them know.
[11:44 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Hands phone back.
[11:45 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Mentions to Kiara: I know what I saw in the pictures.
[11:45 PM] GM: Chumley, the voice is definitely run through several high encryption filters, you are pretty sure whomever was on the other side has access to some really nice tech.
[11:46 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Takes phone back. Hey Ryan - any other information you need here?
[11:46 PM] Ryan: Please, let me know which hospital you are heading to? I want to make sure an exposure expert will just happen to be in the area.
[11:49 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Asks Chumley: What is the closest hospital that we are taking passengers to?
[11:49 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae: What hospital are we sending these folks to?
[11:49 PM] GM: Mt. Sinai, probably.
[11:50 PM] Drae Blitzen: Sinai.
[11:50 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: To Ryan: Looks like they are routing the passengers to Mt Sinai.
[11:51 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Please keep me posted on any further developments.
[11:51 PM] Ryan: I'd love to hear to whole story someday.
[11:51 PM] Ryan: Don't forget to get yourself checked out as well.
[11:52 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: If you read the next Jack Ryan story, you will have the whole story.
[11:52 PM] GM: Drae: there isn't much more you can do, down there, unless you want to take a sample with you.
[11:53 PM] Ryan: Snorts. Can't be in there until you tell it to me.
[11:54 PM] Drae Blitzen: If we're clear upstairs for me to come up, I'm heading out.
[11:54 PM] GM: Kiara: what do you want to do with the remaining three?
[11:55 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: I want Drae to run the Geiger counter over all of them to determine if they have elevated levels of exposure.
[11:58 PM] GM: The karen is, alas, clear. The Flight attendant has maracas, and the copilot has more than the normal folk, but not as much as the Flight Attendant.
[11:59 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: The Karen has no levels of radiation at all?
[12:00 AM] GM: No more than the rest of the folks on the plane.
[12:00 AM] Kiara Umbrielle: Is the FA still unconscious?
[12:01 AM] GM: She is, you did give her quite the lungful. You probably should take the rest of the canister to be evaluated as well.
[12:01 AM] GM: The copilot is also still unconscious, but he probably needs a liter of blood by now.
[12:02 AM] Kiara Umbrielle: I would like to thoroughly search her person and examine her maracas closely.
[12:03 AM] GM: Ah ... maracas as in the Geiger counter was chattering over her a lot. Her hands, her face her hair. Also the clothing you ... appropriated from her.
[12:03 AM] GM: So you might have more exposure than you would have liked.
[12:04 AM] Kiara Umbrielle: Drae, can you also scan Chumley and myself?
[12:04 AM] GM: Chumley is as clean as the other rescue folk (not enough to register on the counter at all).
[12:05 AM] GM: Kiara, you are pinging way more than you would like.
[12:05 AM] Kiara Umbrielle: Was there anything of interest on the FA? Cell phone, unusual items, etc?
[12:06 AM] GM: Nothing you didn't take off of her earlier. (last run.)
[12:07 AM] Drae Blitzen: I have Alpha scan them. I've been down here and don't want my possible exposure to make them worse.
[12:08 AM] Kiara Umbrielle: Chumley, I need to get myself over Mt Sinai to get treated. Can we touch base later and catch up?
[12:08 AM] Drae Blitzen: And once they are out getting scanned by Alpha, I head up and to a private vehicle for extraction.
[12:09 AM] Drae Blitzen: These comms will work for the next 48hrs.
[12:09 AM] GM: Drae: Yeah, you probably want to go to Mt. Sinai and get your own silkwood shower just in case.
[12:09 AM] Drae Blitzen: Take care of yourselves, then check-in later.
[12:09 AM] Chumley Metrodora: Roger that.
[12:10 AM] Chumley Metrodora: Kiara, come ... my car is over here. I will take you.
[12:10 AM] Kiara Umbrielle: Are sure that is wise? I don't want to further contaminate the car or yourself?
[12:11 AM] Drae Blitzen: Alpha, you're good. Thank you as always. Whatever best decontamination protocols are, that's me until they are done and I am home.
[12:11 AM] Chumley Metrodora: I am sure. Now move, we are going
[12:12 AM] GM: Drae: Alpha follows Bravo into the woodwork and away.
[12:12 AM] Kiara Umbrielle: Smiles. Bossy as always, some things never change.
[12:13 AM] GM: Drae, you might want to exit your MOPP suit as carefully as possible, and leave it for Albert to clean up. Same with Kiara's "borrowed" clothing.
[12:13 AM] Kiara Umbrielle: Follows Chumley to his car.
[12:13 AM] GM: And we should probably hang it here.
[12:14 AM] Drae Blitzen: Understood. Done and done.
[12:15 AM] Kiara Umbrielle: I'll trade Drae my clothes for cake.
[12:16 AM] Drae Blitzen: Done and done.
[12:16 AM] GM: Kiara: you feel ... remarkably unhungry at the moment, in fact, you are possibly inclined in the other direction.
[12:17 AM] Kiara Umbrielle: So my stomach is choosing death.
