Amelia Johnson, Chumley Metrodora, Drae Blitzen, Kiara Umbrielle
Jenny, Drae's Alpha team (Horrorshow, team lead), Drae's Bravo team (Bravo Leader, Millie), Drae's Charlie team, Drae's Delta team, Drae's Epsilon team (Epsilon Leader Karma), Uncle? and Father? from the village tribe, 4 captured (radioactive) prisoners, Bad Texan IDF member (spotter), Partner of Bad Texan IDF member (sniper)
[6:12 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Perhaps we should wait for all of this attention to calm down before we continue to make our exit?
[6:13 PM] Chumley Metrodora: looking about the hanger... is there a wheel cart, or similar, for moving 4 bodies? I would rather not carry them, if I do not have to.
[6:14 PM] GM: When last we left our intrepid heroes ... some of you are sitting at the remains of what used to be a UN airport, and the rest of you are at the newly renovated 4th floor, looking at what the takes from those at the UN airport are reporting.
[6:15 PM] GM: Including the 3d representations that Jenny is updating in real-time, on several of the screens. From various gun-site feeds, and body-cam/helmet cam information, all flowing over the newly built encrypted channels that Jenny made, so there wouldn’t be as much delay. She is delighted that this battle is one she can document so much better than the historical ones, and is using some of the insights she has gained to update some of the older models.
[6:16 PM] GM: There are both motorized and unmotorized luggage dollies about, yes.
[6:17 PM] Amelia: Can we identify any of these 4 people?
[6:20 PM] GM: Jenny (showing voice over the command channel): Would it be interesting to note that there is a burst of activity on another set of radio frequencies in the area of the airport, that wasn’t there previously? I’m not sure if that is important?
[6:20 PM] Amelia: Yes, I think that's important considering the timing of this activity.
[6:20 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Jenny, where in the airport?
[6:22 PM] Amelia: (wait... speaking, not text?)
[6:22 PM] GM: Jenny: Trying to triangulate, but, from signal strength alone, approaching from multiple directions. Putting approximate clouds on the visualizations now, will refine as I get more data.
[6:23 PM] Chumley Metrodora: What kind of activity?
[6:23 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Apparently she has learned how to speak?
[6:23 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Or gotten a new toy to "play with".
[6:23 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Courtesy of Drae.
[6:24 PM] GM: Yes, Jenny is sending electronic signals via the radio interface that Millie installed, that comes across as voice.
[6:25 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae, do you have another unit coming?
[6:26 PM] GM: So her diction/intonation is not quite right, and she “sounds” a lot like Amelia, almost as if she has chosen to style herself after someone.
[6:26 PM] GM: But it is honing in on better with every interaction.
[6:27 PM] Drae Blitzen: Negative. Karma, split Epsilon into teams of two. position yourself in retribution range for the 2 closest clouds.
[6:30 PM] Amelia: Still typing at Jenny Were you just speaking on the comm channel? I didn't think that was possible.
[6:30 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Kiara, do you have a view of who is coming?
[6:31 PM] GM: The fuzzy blue clouds are at the very far range of the airport picture, and are vague enough not to be able to be targeted yet.
[6:31 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Do we still have a drone in the air?
[6:31 PM] GM: They are moving forward in small jumps, but at about the speed a really good stealth team might use to approach a target.
[6:32 PM] GM: Yes, there still is the drone up.
[6:32 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Pulls out her laser sights and start scoping them.
[6:32 PM] Amelia: Guys, we don't know yet if they are threats or friendly.
[6:33 PM] GM: Kiara, your scope camera, and your Mark One eyeball do not distinguish anything in particular on your sweeps.
[6:33 PM] Amelia: There is still limited knowledge outside of your group about what happened here.
[6:33 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Threats until proven friendly.
[6:33 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Amelia... now is not the time to make an assumption.
[6:33 PM] Chumley Metrodora: We will hold till we know, but ... now is the time to assume NOT.
[6:33 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Can we get the Drone over head and see who is coming?
[6:33 PM] GM: Jenny, typing back: Yes, I thought it possibly important enough to interrupt people. Did I do it wrong?
[6:34 PM] Amelia: Typing to Jenny No, the interruption was appropriate.
[6:34 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Tie off the 4 guys to the closest airplane wheel assembly.
[6:34 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And move to the door way ready to move.
[6:34 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: You did good Jenny!
[6:35 PM] GM: Note: the drone movement would let whomever is approaching know you are tipped to them, are you sure you want to tip your hand yet?
[6:35 PM] GM: Jenny, typing: I’m trying to learn rightly, thank you.
[6:35 PM] Drae Blitzen: To Jenny: We can't make good calls without data. You got that data to us. We'll try our best to make good calls with it. Thank you very much.
[6:36 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Can we get the drone high enough it would not be noticed?
[6:36 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Or zoom the camera at a distance... it is not noticed?
[6:37 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae... you know your guys... and tools, would the drone give us good data without playing our hand too early?
[6:40 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Pulls out high powered, long distance night vision binoculars. Can I see any more details that will let me determine who they might be?
[6:40 PM] Amelia: Two clouds, right? Are they approaching from only one direction?
[6:43 PM] GM: 7 approximate clouds, approaching from multiple directions, since all of you have tactical backgrounds of one sort or another, it, given this terrain, and an unknown circumstance, is a pretty good stealth approach pattern. From an academic point of view. A level not displayed by those who were at the airport.
[6:44 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Duck back into the hanger, and check the sat phone for messages.
[6:45 PM] Drae Blitzen: That drone will not be able to approach quietly enough.
[6:45 PM] Amelia: Does it look like they have the perimeter fully covered, or is it still possible for our teams to sneak out of there before the clouds arrive?
[6:47 PM] GM: There is plenty of retreat space between the approximations, should the teams choose to use it.
[6:47 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Are there any messages on the sat phone?
[6:48 PM] GM: Chumley: No messages pending.
[6:48 PM] GM: Chumley: No recent activity.
[6:48 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Stow phone and prepare to repel boarders ... if needed.
[6:49 PM] GM: Jenny has popped up the frequencies, and length of contacts on a window in one of the displays.
[6:50 PM] Amelia: You guys might just want to leave now. I don't think there's much left at this location that is worth battling over it.
[6:50 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Jenny, what kind of radio traffic is it?
[6:50 PM] Drae Blitzen: Shit.
[6:50 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Does it give any clue to who it is?
[6:51 PM] Drae Blitzen: Millie... get them out. All of them. This is not up for debate.
[6:51 PM] GM: Jenny: It is not a pattern I know.
[6:52 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I am going to need a hand, if my 4 are coming with.
[6:52 PM] Drae Blitzen: Epsilon, regroup with the main team.
[6:52 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I can carry 1 if I have to defend ... and 2 for simple carry.
[6:53 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Why don't we grab one of those motorized dollies and toss everyone on there and high tail it outta here?
[6:54 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Kiara, get it, I will watch the door.
[6:54 PM] Drae Blitzen: Jenny? Can you check frequencies that may be commonly used by a particular military unit?
[6:55 PM] GM: Jenny: How would I check that? Is there a library of such?
[6:56 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Grabs the motorized dolly and drives it to Chumley and his tribute.
[6:57 PM] Drae Blitzen: There may be. This might be a hard one. I'm gonna give you some data points, and you will try and use them to find radio frequencies that might have been used by military that match those criteria. think of it as a matching game.
[6:57 PM] GM: Jenny: Thank you, I can do that.
[6:58 PM] Drae Blitzen: Okay. Israel. Specifically, the Israeli Defense Force.
[6:59 PM] Drae Blitzen: if any of those matches show up in use with within our clouds, just pop them on my screen and let me hear them.
[7:00 PM] Amelia: Amelia offers to assist Jenny in the historical "matching game".
[7:00 PM] Chumley Metrodora: When Kiara arrives with the cart, run back in, untie them from the wheel assembly, and relocate all 4 to the cart.
[7:00 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Tie them to each other.
[7:01 PM] GM: Jenny finds one somewhat close match in one of the possible decryption of the code word the IDF uses for "ready".
[7:01 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Where are we meeting?
[7:01 PM] GM: Chumley, you and the Epsilons can do that, handily enough, while expressing to them what struggling will get them.
[7:02 PM] Drae Blitzen: Millie, Horrorshow, take inventory. We need 2 vehicles for transport, 1 for assault, and one as a blow up decoy.
[7:02 PM] GM: Jenny puts that code word associated with one of the clouds that is slowly shrinking to a more precise location.
[7:03 PM] Drae Blitzen: To Jenny: Excellent. keep the info coming.
[7:06 PM] Drae Blitzen: Alpha-3 once the decoy is picked, you need to work fast.
[7:07 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Any news on who is circling?
[7:08 PM] Drae Blitzen: Based what I can guess, Israeli Defense Force.
[7:09 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Might be of value to touch them, before we blow up a car?
[7:09 PM] GM: Alpha-3: Roger that. What do you want it to look like? Accidental weapons malfunction or mortar strike?
[7:09 PM] Chumley Metrodora: IDF should be friendly.
[7:09 PM] Drae Blitzen: Athena, I need you to look on the maps Jenny is compiling, and see if there is a place for our people to move to.
[7:10 PM] Drae Blitzen: A-3, Mortar strike.
[7:10 PM] Drae Blitzen: Crunch, if you want to touch them, fine. After we have an escape plan ready.
[7:10 PM] Chumley Metrodora: fair enough
[7:11 PM] GM: Several routes and more safe places become highlighted on the 3d model. Some are ... too close to the sniper paths for your comfort, others are reasonable.
[7:11 PM] Amelia: Amelia marks map locations based on her analysis so far.
[7:11 PM] Chumley Metrodora: After we have the trolley squared, I look for paper and markers.
[7:12 PM] GM: Clipboard and markers are in the cab of the trolley, easily to hand. They use them all the time to communicate with the pilots.
[7:12 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I put a large 6 pt star on the paper.
[7:13 PM] Amelia: Potential routes for each vehicle are color coded to show multiple escape plans.
[7:13 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Pulls out her sat phone and dials up Ryan.
[7:13 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae, when you are ready, I want to fly this message to them hanging from the drone.
[7:13 PM] GM: Kiara, voice or text? And if voice, is this also going over the radios?
[7:14 PM] Drae Blitzen: When Millie, Horo, and A-3 are ready, I give them a path to take to the safe locations Athena has given me, with an order to go to them in case of being compromised.
[7:14 PM] Chumley Metrodora: When you are ready.
[7:14 PM] Chumley Metrodora: In the mean time send me the drone, so I can ready the message.
[7:14 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Text
[7:14 PM] GM: Drae: Is Karma/Epsilon staying as a welcoming party?
[7:15 PM] Drae Blitzen: When we're good, get that drone to Crunch.
[7:15 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Ryan we got some possible unidentified friendlies out here, we think its IDF. Any insight from your end?
[7:15 PM] Drae Blitzen: GM: No, everyone comes home.
[7:16 PM] Drae Blitzen: She just gets to rest, since Millie's there.
[7:17 PM] GM: Kiara, Ryan's response is fast, as if he was sitting by a console or the like, paying attention to a situation or the like: Not knowing where you are, or what you are doing, I couldn't say, but, if you give me a map coordinate, I can inquire?
[7:18 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Texts him back the coordinates.
[7:21 PM] GM: Epsilon, with Karma at their head, has pulled out, in the two closed troop-transport vehicles, with any of the survivors either inside (not in MOPP gear) or in tow on empty weapons carts (if in MOPP gear) Alpha-3 is lying on top of an armored truck apparently driving by some rigged remote another troop-transport, mostly identifiable because she keeps cursing when it doesn't do exactly what she expects it to do.
[7:23 PM] GM: Kiara, after 2 minutes, Ryan replies: I can neither confirm nor deny, but, it is possible that if you use this freq, and this call sign, for 2.5 seconds, at 18 seconds past the minute mark, you might get a response on the common American Marine frequency.
[7:24 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Immediately relays this information over the radio to Drae, Jenny, Amelia and Chumley.
[7:25 PM] GM: There are a number of survivors, due to the nature of the base, and the uninvolved, but staffed positions that were being held in the buildings. Survivors do not equal the team members.
[7:25 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae, tell me when I can do this.
[7:25 PM] GM: Kiara, so ... over the command channel? It will also go to the team leads, as well, so you know.
[7:26 PM] Drae Blitzen: We are good for drone, Do we want to make this call at the same time?
[7:26 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I want to make the call first.
[7:26 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Assumed we had a private line out.
[7:27 PM] GM: The IFOR and KFOR forces have chosen to stay in place for now, and will manage their own retreats, should they determine it necessary, but those forces do appreciate the civilians being evacuated.
[7:27 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I use the identified freq, and call sign, for 2.5 seconds, at 18 seconds past the minute mark.
[7:28 PM] GM: Kiara, you and Chumley (and Amelia and Jenny, back stateside) have been added to the Command channel, that is where most of the chatter has been going on.
[7:29 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And listen on the common American Marine Channel.
[7:31 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Is there a response?
[7:32 PM] GM: Waiting on Kiara's decision to see if she used the command channel to broadcast the information or used another means of transmission.
[7:32 PM] Chumley Metrodora: She is next to me.
[7:32 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I could read it on her phone.
[7:34 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Retconning to showing Chumley directly, versus announcing it on the radio.
[7:34 PM] GM: Ret-con works for me.
[7:35 PM] GM: Chumley your action happens.
[7:36 PM] GM: Jenny and Chumley hear a really bad Texan accented voice over the expected radio frequency saying "Howdy, partner. I'm in town to collect the beer you owe me."
[7:38 PM] GM: Jenny records it, and plays it back in the 4th floor situation room, and indicates the (now precise) location from which it came. It was the farthest out cloud that has been replaced with a positional dot on the 3d representation.
[7:39 PM] Amelia: Typing to Jenny: Are you malfunctioning? What was that?
[7:39 PM] GM: Ryan, to Kiara: Whatever you are doing, sounds really exciting. Please, tell me your story when you have the chance? I'm cleaning up a dirty mess at the moment, or I'd join you.
[7:40 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I do hope you are dressed for this occasion. This party has a dress code.
[7:40 PM] GM: Jenny, typing: A broadcast in the clear, from one of the radios, on an open frequency. I don't have a pattern match for it, but it is more data, so I shared? Did I do it wrong?
[7:42 PM] Amelia: typing to Jenny: ... No, you did that right. It's just a very strange thing to hear right now. Thank you, Jenny.
[7:42 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: I would say I am creating and cleaning up messes right now Ryan.
[7:42 PM] GM: Bad Texan: "Just my hat and spurs. What should I change into?"
[7:43 PM] Ryan: I'm cleaning up the bad skiing season your team told us about.
[7:44 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: We will swap clean up stories when get done with this one.
[7:45 PM] Ryan: I'd like that. Hopefully we will both have some time soon.
[7:46 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Reading her phone makes this more challenging.
[7:47 PM] GM: The Bad Texan said in the clear about the hat and spurs.
[7:48 PM] Chumley Metrodora: We have been having a bit of a barbecue over here. Mustard is everywhere.
[7:49 PM] GM: Jenny also plays back, and puts the text under the dot location, of the hat and spurs comment.
[7:50 PM] GM: Bad Texan: Well ... I don't want to pay a dry-cleaner's bill, do you want to meet me on my way into town, and guide me in so I don't step in it?
[7:52 PM] Chumley Metrodora: That sounds like a good idea, give me a min to get a ride, I will meet you over by the identify some burning object out far enough Kiara could take shots if needed.
[7:53 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Get another of the luggage trolleys, disconnect the trailer, and head to the door.
[7:53 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Command Channel: Is there movement going directly to that burning object?
[7:54 PM] Amelia: Marks meetup location on the map.
[7:55 PM] GM: Um ... nothing (besides the fuel trucks) were lit on fire, so ... burning? Not so much. You could pick a landmark, especially one that is halfway between the Bad Texan's position and yours. And it might be more comfortable to take a jeep, rather than another luggage cart?
[7:56 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Fair enough, some mid way location, and I will take a jeep.
[7:56 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Pausing at the hanger door, until I hear about movement.
[7:58 PM] Drae Blitzen: So ... What are you about to do?
[7:58 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I am going to meet the commander of the incoming force in the middle space, out in the open.
[7:58 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I believe it is IDF
[7:59 PM] Chumley Metrodora: If I am right, this will give us time to sort out what we found here.
[7:59 PM] Drae Blitzen: And if you're wrong?
[7:59 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I have high confidence.
[7:59 PM] Chumley Metrodora: If I am wrong, I will have an easy shot at removing the head of the snake.
[7:59 PM] GM: After the point marked by Amelia on the map, Jenny texts to Amelia: How did you get that point from the description? My pattern matching doesn't seem to reach the same conclusion? All of these points (and shows a scattering of them on the screen in front of Amelia) might also match?
[7:59 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And will high tail it back.
[8:00 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Is there any movement?
[8:01 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Drae, in the mean time, I am purchasing you time to get everyone else out of here, or set up better defensive positions.
[8:02 PM] Amelia: Am I right that the spot was obvious to Amelia based on Chumley's description? If so, she types an explanation for Jenny on why this is the most obvious meeting site between these two people.
[8:02 PM] Drae Blitzen: Amelia, can you figure out which one of the locations has the highest chance of being the primary broadcast point?
[8:03 PM] GM: Jenny typing to Amelia: All the other broadcasts have stopped? They were on a stochastic pattern, but now they have missed two of what was semi-regular time units?
[8:04 PM] GM: Amelia, it was the one matching point on the line between them that matched the description. Chumley deliberately made it vague enough that, without both of those insights, Jenny is right, it could be any number of places.
[8:04 PM] Amelia: Drae, Jenny has marked the broadcast point for the where the maybe leader was talking on an open channel. That is where he was, but I assume he's moving now.
[8:05 PM] GM: Jenny over the radio only to the command post, while flashing the map point: That is the exact point the person is broadcasting from, according to triangulation of the radio waves. Did I do it wrong?
[8:06 PM] Amelia: On comms: Jenny, if they has stopped their usual chatter that means they probably know we were listening. We no longer have that way to track their movements.
[8:08 PM] Drae Blitzen: Nods to Amelia. Alright.
[8:08 PM] GM: Jenny typing to Amelia: Should I take away the possible incorrect information then?
[8:09 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Nebula, do you have eyes on?
[8:09 PM] Amelia: Typing to Jenny: Fade them out a bit. Leave a lighter shadow so we can remember it.
[8:09 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Have my eyes glued to your backside.
[8:10 PM] GM: Chumley: Your path to the meet-point is apparently unobstructed and untenanted. But your hackles say otherwise.
[8:11 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I start my drive out to the meet point. Very slowly.
[8:11 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Hyper Alert for any movement.
[8:13 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And sidearm at the ready.
[8:13 PM] GM: Chumley: You see no movement, but, of course, if anyone is sniping the path or that position, they might have had time to get in place before you headed out to it. Hence hackles.
[8:15 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I slow even more as I approach the meeting point.
[8:15 PM] GM: Chumley: When you arrive at the location there is a lone bottle of Maccabee beer sitting at the location.
[8:17 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Am I in a safe place to take off some of the MOPP gear?
[8:19 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Consult my Geiger counter.
[8:19 PM] GM: Chumley: you might not want to, due to possible contamination on the outside of the gear. But if you are willing to risk it ...
[8:20 PM] GM: Chumley: Your Geiger counter has been screaming at you since you got into the hanger. It's quieted down some, but still chattering.
[8:21 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I climb out of the jeep, and sit down on the hood, facing the woods, where our new friends would be.
[8:21 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I do NOT remove MOPP.
[8:22 PM] GM: Do you make a big show of checking the counter?
[8:22 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Yes.
[8:22 PM] GM: And do you show the flag you drew?
[8:22 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Over the radio: I would like to introduce you to some fine Bourbon. But that will need to wait for another day.
[8:23 PM] Chumley Metrodora: No flag.
[8:23 PM] GM: Bad Texan out loud (not over the radio) from the spot you are specifically facing: Isn't Bourbon from Kentucky? I thought Texans hated folks from Kentucky? Something about not knowing how to bar-b-q?
[8:25 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Some Bourbon is from Kentucky.
[8:25 PM] Chumley Metrodora: But Texas does not really have its own.
[8:25 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And I kind of like Bourbon.
[8:25 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And BBQ.
[8:25 PM] GM: Over the radio, which is still showing from the same spot on the map, not the meeting point, bourbon would be fine.
[8:26 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Speaking out loud, and over the command channel.
[8:26 PM] GM: Bad Texan over voice: Damn, you Americans are complicated. Why the party dress?
[8:27 PM] Chumley Metrodora: If you listen closely you will hear more than the background.
[8:27 PM] Chumley Metrodora: It gets louder as you get closer to the hanger.
[8:28 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Can you step out, so we are speaking face to face?
[8:28 PM] Chumley Metrodora: You will excuse me if I do not take this off, but a shower is called for before I can remove it.
[8:29 PM] GM: Bad Texan over voice: What is considered safe distance? If you don't mind, I don't really know you well enough to shower with you yet.
[8:30 PM] GM: Bad Texan over radio: I do love me some BBQ. Shall we find a place to chow down?
[8:30 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Over the command channel: Jenny what is a safe distance?
[8:30 PM] Amelia: (same voice?)
[8:32 PM] GM: Kiara, you have spotted what you think is one of the possible snipers, in the area of one of the radio clouds closest to Chumley's location. You can call out the precise coordinates, or just keep watching.
[8:32 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Call out coordinates.
[8:32 PM] GM: Amelia, you can't hear the "over voice" bits, they are carried to Chumley's ears only.
[8:32 PM] GM: And yes, for the record, it's the same voice.
[8:34 PM] GM: Jenny provides an outline on the map, that shows differing colors based on alpha, beta, gamma, etc particles, not knowing what exactly your detector is chattering about, since it's not that precise, you have choices.
[8:35 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Out loud and over the command channel: I share the furthest one, noting we are not completely sure, so this is the safest bet.
[8:35 PM] GM: Two of the the teams other scopes verify Kiara's intel. And that is marked on the map by Jenny.
[8:37 PM] GM: Chumley: Out of where you were talking, someone in appropriate camouflage steps out in the open, weapons slung, hands away from body. He has that "Israeli" look to him, and all the equipment matches your expectations.
[8:37 PM] GM: Kiara: Another person has emerged from cover and is approaching Chumley.
[8:39 PM] GM: Bad Texan has a spotting scope, but not a sniper rifle on him, the chances are this is one person of a two person team.
[8:39 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Shalom my friend.
[8:40 PM] GM: Bad Texan: Shalom. I'd offer you water, but ... (and gestures to the MOPP gear).
[8:40 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: Any chances of my spotting the sniper?
[8:40 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Yes, I completely understand. As I said, you need to be dressed for this party.
[8:41 PM] GM: Bad Texan holds up hand, clicks radio and says over it: "Lets go to town and get stinking drunk, and eat us some BBQ!"
[8:41 PM] GM: And then shrugs and says over voice: "Just in case anyone local is listening."
[8:43 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Most of the folks locally are either having issues with iron, or are being helped into a truck, by some friends of mine.
[8:43 PM] Chumley Metrodora: But better safe than sorry.
[8:43 PM] GM: Bad Texan, continuing over voice: Are you here officially? Or not? We ... got a tip and are looking into it. If you have things in hand, we can go, or join, your call?
[8:44 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Command channel: Blitz, they are offering to go, or join, your call.
[8:44 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And they are not currently dressed for the party.
[8:45 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I hold up my finger.
[8:45 PM] GM: Bad Texan nods and stays mostly still hands still well away from any weapons.
[8:47 PM] Drae Blitzen: Let's start with a show of good faith, Crunch. Ask him for a headcount.
[8:48 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Over voice: My friend, as a show of good faith, can I have a head count?
[8:49 PM] GM: Bad Texan gives an uncomfortable grin: Ah, that's a little too personal, how about something else?
[8:50 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Over the command channel: He is hesitating.
[8:52 PM] Drae Blitzen: Jenny, How many of those clouds would you guess are actual people?
[8:52 PM] Drae Blitzen: Hold for a moment Crunch...
[8:54 PM] GM: Jenny: Insufficient data. There might be multiple people associated with each radio, or multiple radios, operated by fewer or more people. I don't have enough data yet to say. They are all just probabilities at this point, except for the person talking to our person, who seems to be in two places at once.
[8:55 PM] GM: (There are 7 clouds and one dot.)
[8:55 PM] Drae Blitzen: Okay. Thank Jenny. That helps.
[8:56 PM] GM: Sorry, 6 and the dot, total of 7.
[8:56 PM] Amelia: If we assume each cloud was a 2-person team before they went dark, that would be 8 teams, counting the Texan.
[8:56 PM] Amelia: Okay, 7 teams.
[8:57 PM] GM: Yes. That's the data.
[8:57 PM] Drae Blitzen: Alright Crunch. One hand washes the other. Tell them we need a safe-house outside of this radioactive zone to have some chats with some local and international criminals. for giving us the space and first crack, them can have them and the credit.
[8:59 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Over voice and the command channel: Fair enough.
[8:59 PM] Chumley Metrodora: We have a need of a place, outside this hot zone, where we can have a chat with the locals and criminals we found.
[8:59 PM] Chumley Metrodora: For the space and right of first interrogation, you take credit for the operation.
[9:03 PM] GM: Bad Texan: Well ... we do have a place we can give you, but we don't want credit. Can we detail one of us to ride along for intel, and give you folks directions? And the rest of us will go back to tracking this tip to make sure the Homeland isn't a destination immediately. They don't need planes to get there, just boats, and ... Benjamin is worried.
[9:04 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Passed back on the command channel.
[9:04 PM] Drae Blitzen: Have them send two. None of their people need to feel threatened.
[9:04 PM] Chumley Metrodora: While I wait for a decision, can I assume your person has the appropriate dress
[9:05 PM] Chumley Metrodora: It is being suggested you should send 2, No one should feel threatened.
[9:06 PM] Drae Blitzen: All we ask is that if we give them contact info, they let us know if they gather any new intel pertaining to this in the future.
[9:06 PM] GM: Bad Texan over voice: Two can be done. and no, we don't have appropriate dress, we can arrange for it to be dropped by the time we get there? And if you have folks who haven't been exposed, can we catch a ride, and give directions, with them?
[9:06 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And if we give you a contact, you will share anything new that might come up from this tip?
[9:07 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Over the command channel: Are we going to have a clean car, or has everyone been exposed?
[9:08 PM] GM: Bad Texan: I'm comfortable sharing what I know, but, to be up front, I have to check, up chain to make sure those following up know to send such to me. I don't get to make those decisions, alas.
[9:08 PM] Drae Blitzen: I believe we can make a clean car happen, right?
[9:08 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Alternatively, is there additional MOPP for our 2 new associates, or should they have it dropped from their depot?
[9:09 PM] GM: Epsilon did not drop spares, just enough for the known folks, in the known folks sizes (which was a nice touch, Drae's teams do good work.)
[9:10 PM] Drae Blitzen: If absolutely nothing else, there are enough vehicles here and we can follow.
[9:10 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Over voice and the command channel:A clean car is possible. Since we did not pack additional gear, you should definitely have some dropped at first opportunity.
[9:11 PM] GM: And yes, there are several clean cars, the two troop transports with the civilians, from the airport, the two team vehicles, and the armored truck are all clean. Just the Jeep, by essence of having Chumley's gear in it, is not.
[9:12 PM] Chumley Metrodora: But that will change when we move to the new location, as everyone from the 3 teams would have mostly been exposed, I suspect.
[9:12 PM] GM: Bad Texan: Sounds good. Are we agreed?
[9:12 PM] GM: Well, yes, that will change, but it hasn't yet changed.
[9:12 PM] Chumley Metrodora: You may also want to have dress dropped for the remainder of your team, in case you encounter something like this following your lead.
[9:13 PM] GM: So whatever arrangements you folks decide on, clean and unclean can be divvied up. Remember your two initial prisoners probably need to be in clean transport as well.
[9:13 PM] Chumley Metrodora: We are agreed.
[9:15 PM] GM: Bad Texan: I'll put it in my report, but we aren't authorized to get close enough to get exposed at the moment, we are just "eyes, and go to aich ee double el" detail.
[9:16 PM] Drae Blitzen: Horrorshow, your team is played face-up. You'll go with Crunch and Nebula, obvious to our hosts. Karma, you are placed Face down. No one sees you, and you support Alpha. Millie, coordinate ex-filtration back home as close to the location given as possible.
[9:16 PM] GM: Bad Texan raises a hand for a moment, waits for your head-nod, and then, changes something on his radio and says "Hitchana haba'a".
[9:20 PM] GM: He then sits down, laces his hands behind his head, and leans back, in about as non-threatening a position as possible, while still being vaguely comfortable. Two moments later another similarly dressed person emerges from the side, one hand carrying a case that most probably holds a fairly decent sniper rife, the other away from her body in plain sight, with an Uzi slung across her back. She puts the case down a little away from her feet, and puts the Uzi on top of it. She also sits down next to her companion, and adopts a similar pose.
[9:22 PM] GM: Kiara, you watch the sniper who had that spot covered, and their spotter stand up, pack up, with large exaggerated motions, and melt into the background.
[9:22 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Over the command channel: Have those radio transmissions resumed?
[9:23 PM] GM: After about 3 minutes 6 of the clouds show movement on the map.
[9:23 PM] GM: The seventh point stays fixed.
[9:24 PM] Amelia: It looks like they have.
[9:24 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Voice and command channel: Blitz, we have 2 guides, in what appears to be Sniper and Spotter.
[9:24 PM] Chumley Metrodora: They have laid out their weapons in front of them, in a very non threatening manner.
[9:26 PM] Drae Blitzen: Wolfe, retrieve the weapons and await a vehicle for our guest.
[9:26 PM] Drae Blitzen: Alpha-3, can you get a ride out to them?
[9:27 PM] GM: Alpha-3: Still loaded? Um ... that's a lot of ordinance, should they choose to ... redirect it?
[9:28 PM] Drae Blitzen: LOL... no... something less dangerous please. Honestly any jeep will do.
[9:30 PM] GM: Bravo-5: Since I'm on babysitting anyway, should I swap out and drive?
[9:30 PM] Drae Blitzen: Millie, can you be without for a bit?
[9:31 PM] GM: Alpha-5: I can trade out, if necessary, I didn't compromise my party dress.
[9:32 PM] Drae Blitzen: Sounds good.
[9:33 PM] GM: Bravo-5: I"m so never living this one down, am I? big deep theatrical sigh
[9:33 PM] Drae Blitzen: You will.... just no time soon.
[9:35 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: I have some heels that make that dress amazing Bravo-5!
[9:36 PM] GM: Bravo-5: I haven't worn heels since high-school, but thanks for the offer.
[9:39 PM] GM: A few minutes into the wait, a facial expression conversation happens between the two of them, and she very slowly without approaching the weapons gets up, goes over the the Maccabee, pops the top and has a good swig, in the face of the frown of the Bad Texan.
[9:40 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I am glad someone was able to drink that, before it went bad in this heat.
[9:40 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I climb down off the hood of the jeep, and settle back in the drivers seat.
[9:41 PM] GM: She raises it in salud to you, and sits back down with it. Bad Texan, still frowning does not take the offered bottle, and she continues to finish it.
[9:41 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I nod my head in acknowledgment.
[9:42 PM] GM: Bravo-5 is now approaching with the Jeep. Waves to the party and gives space according to the safe zone around Chumley.
[9:42 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I back up the jeep, to give Bravo-5 additional space to maneuver.
[9:45 PM] GM: Bravo-5 pulls out a canteen, takes a sip and then offers it to the two Israeli folk. It is very much ritualistic, and they accept the water, and both drink. The Israeli male offers his canteen in the same way and all three drink. Thus ritual satisfied. They all go over to the Jeep. The woman gestures toward the weapons pile, and Bravo-5 says it will be collected and brought. Bad Texan translates, she shrugs, and leaves it.
[9:46 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I head back to the hanger.
[9:47 PM] GM: Kiara, when do you stop watching the meeting place through your scope?
[9:47 PM] Kiara Umbrielle: When Chumley gets back to the hanger.
[9:49 PM] GM: When Bravo-5's Jeep arrives, people are all sorted, packed and ready to roll out. They are still being followed by the jerry-rigged RC car that is Alpha-3's new toy.
[9:50 PM] Chumley Metrodora: What is the plan for showers, and removing MOPP gear?
[10:00 PM] GM: All of Alpha who weren't exposed are already clear of their gear.
[10:00 PM] GM: Those of you exposed will have to be figured out when arrival happens.
[10:01 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Was showers included when Epsilon came in, with gear?
[10:03 PM] GM: No. The did a HALO drop, over possible enemy forces, they took the bare minimum that they needed.
[10:12 PM] GM: Having no other bumps, I believe the trip to the safe site is an uneventful hour and a half.
[10:14 PM] GM: You crossed the Greek border about 25 minutes before you stopped. The border crossing was hand-waved between the Israeli and the border guards. The translation (provided by Jenny) was something to the effect of "See, we were just going to pick up some friends. We're back. No problems, no worries. Thank you. Here's something for your efforts."
[10:16 PM] GM: The border guards are happy with the story and the bribe, and don't look too closely at the cavalcade.
[10:18 PM] GM: You end up between Vrontero and Pili, from a mapping point of view.
[10:21 PM] GM: Somewhere in the Prespa National Park.
[10:22 PM] GM: Not far from the shore of the Small Prespa Lake.
[10:28 PM] GM: The isolated stone fortress is part of a series of ruins that apparently used to be a town, many, many years ago. The structure is well maintained, electricity provided by generator, but most of the lighting is oil lamps, big windows and fireplaces. The water is pumped, so plastic wash-down showers with barrels to collect the run-off can be constructed, and the contaminants can be sealed in other barrels as well.
[10:29 PM] GM: Look at Guesthouse Ariadni for pictures of similar construction, in the region.
[10:36 PM] GM: And the interrogation rooms in the basement are all you could wish for. Old, smelling of stale fear and sweat, with slight undertones of charred and rotting flesh, old stains that have not been bothered to be cleaned up, chairs and tables bolted in place, and other hard-points about. The thick stone walls insulate them from the wine cellars that are semi-adjacent. so they even have that touch of Cask of Amontillado feel to it, although it is Greek and not Spanish.
[10:41 PM] GM: Once the location is known, technical folks arrive to help wire the place for your special transmissions, both sound an video, capable of being one way, or both ways, with screens that can be shown to those being questioned and the like. All the equipment is in pelican cases, and locked down so that prying eyes (or fingers) would get no information. Even the screens don't have brand names on them.
[10:45 PM] GM: One of the upstairs rooms, with a view of the sky, is the Israeli listening post/command center, where they very politely ask if you are willing not to go in, for state secret reasons.
[10:48 PM] GM: The techs think they have marked and boxed all the Israeli remote eyes and ears in the interrogation room space, and in the general habitation spaces, but they cannot guarantee that there wasn't a few that got missed.
[7:30 PM] GM: Have you thought out how you are going to extract the information from your captives?
[7:37 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I think, tie them in chairs, gagged, and blindfolded.
[7:37 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Let them stew for a few hours.
[7:38 PM] GM: Same room, or following Gibs rules, and not letting the suspects communicate with each-other?
[7:39 PM] Chumley Metrodora: From the description provided, I thought it was a single large room?
[7:39 PM] Chumley Metrodora: But separate rooms would allow for the gag and blindfold to be lifted.
[7:39 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Which would be better.
[7:40 PM] GM: And are you going to let them know you have folks who speak Albanian? Or force them into another language? (Greek, English, French, Spanish, what other language do you think they know?)
[7:41 PM] GM: Right, I'll have to check back for the description. It might have been one large room.
[7:41 PM] GM: Yep, multiple rooms available: "And the interrogation rooms in the basement are all you could wish for. Old, smelling of stale fear and sweat, with slight undertones of charred and rotting flesh, old stains that have not been bothered to be cleaned up, chairs and tables bolted in place, and other hard-points about. The thick stone walls insulate them from the wine cellars that are semi-adjacent. so they even have that touch of Cask of Amontillado feel to it, although it is Greek and not Spanish."
[7:42 PM] Chumley Metrodora: What languages do I have available to me?
[7:43 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Also, what languages have THEY heard us use?
[7:44 PM] GM: Most of the Romance languages, Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarin ... probably Turkish, as well? I feel that you probably had to decipher a lot of written/spoken communications in your previous jobs. And probably any language you don't have Drae probably has, or Kiara.
[7:47 PM] GM: And anything beyond that, Jane might be able to translate on the fly.
[7:51 PM] Chumley Metrodora: What languages have they heard us use?
[7:52 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Or us hear them use?
[7:54 PM] GM: Hmm ... Probably they heard you using English, sporadically over the radios during the encounter at the airfield.
[7:58 PM] Chumley Metrodora: We will speak to them in English, when the time comes.
[7:58 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And when speaking about them (in front of them) we will use Albanian, if it is something we want them to know... but not be told.
[7:58 PM] Chumley Metrodora: ie.: Casually they do not know anything... We should just burn them now... No don't waste the bullet... A little gas will do.
[8:17 PM] Chumley Metrodora: After some hours, begin with questions.
[8:19 PM] GM: Sounds like a good plan. Do you want to negotiate what the questions want to be before you get into it?
[8:19 PM] GM: Are you going to be questioning them at the same time, or separately?
[8:23 PM] Chumley Metrodora: We will question them at the same time.
[8:23 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Let the answers lead to the next question.
[8:23 PM] Chumley Metrodora: And periodically compare notes out of hearing range.
[8:24 PM] GM: So who is doing the interrogations? Drae, via the screen? or any of the local folk?
[8:26 PM] Chumley Metrodora: If Drae wants to, that is his prerogative.
[8:27 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Otherwise, I suggest, Horrorshow, and Karma. Introduced by call sign, of course.
[8:27 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I believe we have 2.
[8:29 PM] Chumley Metrodora: I will come and go from time to time as Big Crunch, when it is time to add pressure, and the occasional broken bone.
[8:36 PM] Drae: Sits and drinks tea and listens.
[8:39 PM] GM: I believe Karma stayed behind to ... well ... live up to her name. Also, you would know, in Albanian culture, a woman is ... perhaps ... not as legitimate as a male. That might be a deliberate choice on your part, but ... as GM I want to make sure it's deliberate.
[8:40 PM] GM: So you do have Horrorshow and Millie, if you want to go with both males.
[8:41 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Much as I like Millie, It is the underlying feeling of the name I am going for.
[8:42 PM] Chumley Metrodora: Millie like me, will come and go from time to time, as additional impact may be required ... power applied, or blood released.
