Chanicutian tried to trigger the machine to hurt Geryon, who blocked him and notified Ferethyn. Ferethyn called Cagliostro in to help, who was tossed around a bit with Logrus until Darkstar made a pointed introduction ("allow me to introduce my friend, _Count_ Cagliostro, personal friend of _Princess_ Chandra..."). The Chanicutian made himself scarce, posthaste. Cagliostro worked with the one techie to disassemble the soul-catcher, after getting Ilk to conjure a note promising not to destroy the techie for getting the machine wrong. It was revealed that the soul-ripping and injecting were both made unnecessarily painless in the original design. The Serpent's Apprentice was recruited to monitor (and soul-stuff) Geryon during some testing. To restore the souls, Cagliostro had to build a (painless) soul-injector, calibrated to shoot one soul fragment at a time. The techie had to go lie down at the idea of building -another- machine. The machine worked, everyone has the soul back, and the injections (after Geryon) were done privately. Cagliostro only recognized Ferethyn, the rest were anonymous and amorphous. Cagliostro has been promised access to Ferethyn's library in exchange for his help. (Ferethyn was not introduced to Cagliostro by name, but Darkstar described him as "the greatest mage in the greatest magical realm - by definition. Not always by power, there is one who has recently exceed him - you've met him, too. Caelin...") -- Sam Gorton | Skaion Corporation sgorton@grey-havens.net | (781) 396-1095
